Came to try this place out in Fairview Mall. When we ordered, we asked for everything to be less salty as I heard from a friend this place uses too much salt. We ordered curry, glass noodles, a platter with pork and sausages and pork skin salad. Everything was good, we asked for mild and the saltiness was perfect since we asked for less salt. Although the food was good, the service was very bad, we went for Friday evening, not once the waiter/waitress came over to ask how everything was going, refill our water. They just ignored all the tables the entire time unless you wave them down for something. They look busy, but was not service oriented. We had to ask twice for water refill and took forever for us to flag someone down to get the bill.

What a treat for the senses and party of flavour this dining experience was! I will talk first about all the good things about the dinner. We got the Som Tum Duo Set for Two: Kor Moo Yang, Kai Kra Tiem, Som Tum Tod. I would like to believe that each dish was deliberately chosen to complement the other two dishes to balance out the texture and flavor profiles. The Kor Moo Yang meat slices was very tender and pairs really well with its sauce dip. The Kai Kra Tiem comes with a spicy dip which I think is Siracha hot sauce. The meat was sweet and savory. I initially thought the Som Tum Tod was some type of noodle dish, but it was actually deep-fried green papaya salad. This dish was a revelation and such a joy to eat. I love how it was crunchy, sweet, and sour. We added a soup order, Tom Zap, thinking the Set for Two might not be enough. The Tom Zap was very rich, flavourful, with the sour kick taste of tamarind. The meal also comes with a choice of complimentary house tea. We went with jasmine tea (another choice was green tea). Our server was very nice and helpful. We took some time trying to figure out what to order and she patiently waited on the sidelines until we were ready to order. She also motioned us early on before we even started ordering to move a better spot in the restaurant when the spot opened up. We wanted a presumably warmer table spot closer inside away from the entrance. That brings me to the bad things about the dining experience. It was cold. I don't know if heating was down at the time or if the restaurant just shares their climate control with Fairview Mall's main floor atrium and that was expected normal room temperature levels on the floor. The restaurant was not enclosed in glass or a wall structure. It was all just open and connected with the main mall area. It was funny that due to this, you can see all the waiters or servers going around the restaurant wearing their jackets. The food is also quite expensive than the average sit down restaurant. We had to order an extra soup dish thinking our Set for Two order will not be enough. There was also no variety of Set combinations. It was just that 1 combination of 3 select dishes for the Set for Two. I can still at least come to terms with everything due to the restaurant having garnered some Michelin rating recognition. They must be doing something right in their choices and in the quality of their food. Lastly, it was hard to go over the menu and pick what to order because the food items do not have descriptions under them. I had to type in the menu items and Google what it is made of or consult the waiter when she walked by. I would understand if they kept the original untranslated name of the dish as the dish label for theming or national pride decisions, but they could have at least provided more definition underneath it. It would not take too much space in the menu board to display terms like "beef", "pork", "tamarind", "deep-fried green papaya salad".

Good, but nothing out of this world like what you'd expect for something Michelin recommended. I came with 3 friends and we shared their $125 set menu for 4 people which came with a good variety and it was a great way to try a bunch of their different dishes. It included a hotpot dish, pad kra pao, papaya salad, pork jowl, chicken curry, minced pork and rice dish, and a mango sticky rice (there might have been more but this is what I can remember). Standouts for me were the chicken curry which was super flavourful, and the pork jowl. But as previously mentioned, nothing really tasted like anything I've never had before. Quite a few of the dishes came with minced meat which isn't too exciting. There was nothing that I'd experienced for the first time or anything to write home about. Overall, the food was good but I wish it had more of a "wow"/speciality factor for dining at a Michelin recommended restaurant. The restaurant space itself is nicely decorated and conveniently located in the mall. Service was also fine, but again, nothing standout.

What great and incredible experience at Som Tum Jinda Easily one of the best Thai spots I've tried lately! We started off with the COCO Passion. It was super refreshing! The Tum Puu Mooyor was amazing and packed with favour. It is loaded with Vietnamese sausage, raw salted crab, garlic, chilli, and that special Pla Ra sauce. Other food ordered: Moo Pla Ra (spicy) Panang Chicken (Definitely hit the spot) Pad See Eew (My go-to at all thai resto) Ended it off with Mango Sticky Rice! Definitely coming back! Fairview mall location (right in front of T&T Supermarket)

Super excited to learn that Som Tum Jinda opened up at Fairview Mall. I been to their downtown location several times already, but the last time I went I find there was too much MSG in their food. Came here for an early lunch on a weekend and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. During the duration of our mea (approx 1 hr long), there was approx 5 other tables/parties. The benefit of that was we got very attentive service. Since we were only a party of two, we ordered 1 app and 2 mains - Kor Moo Yang (grilled pork jowl), Kai Kra Tiem (garlic chicken with fried egg on rice) and Pad Woonsen Cha-om (glass noodle with minced pork) My favourite dish was the glass noodle. It was light and airy, perfect for someone like me who doesn't really like carbs. The cut of pork jowl we got was a bit too fatty for my liking, but I guess we just got unlucky. Overall, I find the flavours at this location milder than the downtown location - which I actually think is a good thing because I wasn't thirsty after the meal (little to minimal MSG)

pad woon sen

came here due to michelin recommended. ordered the thumbs up menu: 1. panang chicken curry. bit sweet. generous meat. overall is good. 2. pad woon sen with ground chicken. quite big serving. taste homey (taste is bit similar with my home country). 3. frog leg. juicy and tender. not bad. but it has the 'fishiness'(or froggy-ness?) taste..basically the meat is not too fresh (compare to other frog legs I hv eaten in my home country). if you never try at all, worth to try tho. my eating buddy tried it for the first time and said its not bad. taste like chicken (true) and he doesnt understand the frogginess comment (bc he has no comparison). attentive service. overall, theres nth special. taste is comparable with other northern thai places i hv been to. we both dont understand what makes the place falls under michelin guide. 5% discount for paying with cash. cheers!

Nice space across from T&T at Fairview Mall, open to the mall. Came for lunch on a weekday. Not very busy. Ordered the Pad Woonsen Cha Om - with chicken. The Pad Woonsen Cha Om is a stir-fried glass noodle. The presentation is nice, topped with some scrambled eggs. It is flavourful - very savoury. I was able to ask for some chili oil to add on as well. Friendly staff, okay value.

Very good Thai spot. Not quite in the top tier, but they excel at great service and great prices for the quality of food options. Fun atmosphere with a laid back vibe.

Pad See Eew with Beef

All the noodles were amazing, favourite by far was the Beef Pad See Eew! Soo much flavour packed in the dish. Next favourite is the Mango Sticky Rice. Rice was a little warm with perfectly in season mango. Nice bright ambience and service was quick. All dishes cost about $18 each. Would definitely be back!

Som Tum Jinda's second location is now open inside Fairview Mall across from T&T. I've heard many good things about this place when they first opened on Gerrard downtown. They specialize in Northern Thai dishes so you won't find a pad thai here or anything like that. The restaurant is large where it can fit quite a number of customers as well as larger parties. There are washroom facilities inside the restaurant as well. You are also able to make reservations online or can try your luck with walking in depending on how busy they are. They do offer a 5% off discount if you pay cash! I dined at Som Tum Jinda on a Saturday around 1pm. The place fairly busy with customers dining. I made reservations just in case. My friend arrived late but the restaurant didn't rush us or anything (on Opentable they say parties of 2 have a dining limit of 1.5hr). I ordered a Thai iced tea for myself which was good and strong. It was a bit sweet but after the ice melted a little it was better. My friend and I shared 3 dishes together. We weren't sure what to order but we decided to focus on the recommended dishes on the menu (as indicated by a thumbs up). Just a warning, the spice level can get intense, so stick with no spice or mild if you are not able to handle spice well. These are the dishes we shared: - Kaeng om (chicken) - a soup with mushroom, pumpkin, zucchini, dill, chili, lemongrass, acacia leaves, cabbage) - Pad woonsen cha-om (with minced chicken) - glass noodle, egg, garlic, acacia leaves - Som tum tod vegan - Fried papaya salad topped with peanut, garlic, chili, tomato, green bean All the dishes had great unique flavours! The soup came in a big bowl and staff gave us smaller bowls to scoop the soup into. The flavours of the soup were comforting - spicy, with hints of lemongrass where the chilis gave it a good kick. The pieces of chicken in the soup were tender and the pumpkin, mushroom, zucchini, and cabbage made the soup quite hearty. The pad woonsen cha-om was our favourite dish out of the 3 we ordered. The glass noodles fried with all the ingredients were extremely flavourful. The som tum tod vegan was unique where the fried pieces at the bottom of the dish eaten together with the fresh papaya and spices created a different textural contrast to the dish. The flavours worked well together where it was tart and fresh. Overall, great new place at Fairview Mall for Northern Thai cuisine. Service was standard and prices are a bit higher but a good treat if you'd like to try some unique Thai dishes. Definitely recommend sharing dishes!

Newly opened Thai restaurant in Fairview mall. It used to be called coconut grove. If you have a large group 4+ people it's best to make a reservation especially during busy lunch or dinner hours. The menu is long and have lots of variety. The menu item lists every ingredient item in the dish but not helpful in terms of knowing what the actual dish is . The noodle dish I got was delicious, very flavourful. Has peppercorn, not too spicy. Ask questions to the server for you need help with menu items, they were very helpful with recommendations

Delicious- split between four people at the end of a delicious dinner!

Hands down the best Thai food in Toronto. We've visited Thailand multiple times and there has not been one place that tastes like our trips until now! The mango sticky rice was good but I will have ordered the traditional fried mung beans on top versus the sesame seeds! The fried chicken has the most delicious sauce! We will order it just for that! The duck larb was yummy but not quite what we wanted - which is more spice, tang and saltiness! The fried frog legs were great if that's your jam! Crispy and delicious! The papaya salad was spicy and tangy - absolutely delicious. Then the soup! This had no thumbs up on the menu but we took the risk - it was the BEST! If you love savoury and in our face lemongrass, holy basil and yumminess, you won't regret this. We will be returning for this dish! Milk tea was on point too! 100% understand why this place is Michelin recommended!

Was excited to try Som Tum Jinda after hearing much about it from friends. It lived up to the hype! We tried the two dishes with three thumbs up since we assumed they were the best and they were both really good!! We shared the Som Tum Tod which is a fried papaya salad and the Pad Woonsen Cha-om which is a glass noodle dish with minced meat (we tried the chicken). We ordered the salad medium and the noodles hot but we found the salad more spicy but neither was actually very spicy. I added some of the salad dressing to the noodles which was a delicious combo. The service was great! Our waitress was really nice and even let us know when deciding about dessert that the mango was sour today. We'll come back to try more!

The grapfruit bitters rounded out the sweetness of the Chambord and the sourness of the lemon. We decided to order another cocktail each just as our food arrived. I had the I Have a Lychee Secret. It was a little on the sweet side, but was very yummy. I loved the black pepper on top but didn't really taste much cilantro. My husband had La Passionista which was great. It was so well-balanced and flavourful. The dumplings were AMAZING! The butterly pea infused tapioca gave the perfect bouncy, chewy texture to the outside and the mushroom and radish centres were so tasty. Our waitress explained that they should be eaten in a lettuce cup with cilantro, mint and peanuts. YUM! Such a flavour bomb. The only thing I would have changed would be to add some sort of a spicy, salty, sour dipping sauce like a nuoc cham. The green papaya fritters were also just fantastic. They were crispy, crunchy and the dipping sauce was a little spicy and sweet. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and would 100% return. I have already reccomended them to others.
