Tried this restaurant for dinner after it came recommended to me. Overall, the food was great. I ordered a scallop dish--most were cooked perfectly, but a couple were unfortunately raw and cold in the middle. On the other hand, the fried seafood dish was well-executed and delicious. For an appetizer, we had fresh oysters which were all excellent. Despite the minor issue with the scallops, it was a solid dining experience, and I'd still recommend others give this place a try.

We exited the subway about 5 blocks east of here, not realizing that a bus went right by. So by the time we arrived, we were famished! Rodney's is a hole in the wall, basement restaurant, with wonderful atmosphere. My husband was hankering for a lobster roll at some point in our vacation, and he had reviewed Rodney's before we left home. So he ordered that and a wonderful salad. I had the Newfoundland codfish cakes, and New England clam chowder. Now we're originally from Maine so we know lobster, codfish cakes and clam chowder. ALL three were PERFECT! I don't remember having better clam chowdr in Maine. The service was very good, the staff was very friendly, and helpful, as well.

What a fun spot; we loved the nautical decor throughout the restaurant. We started with oysters (of course). Our server was helpful and guided our oyster selection. We also had their Caesars which are perfectly spicy and garnished with a delicious shrimp. We loved the New England clam chowder (cup or bowl? Get the cup if you're having an entree too), and the steak was a hit with our group - a generous portion perfectly cooked and paired with sides including fries, mushrooms or broccolini. The mussels were disappointing- the broth was just not that tasty. And the scallops were overdone. But we ended the night strong with their chocolate mousse dessert which was delicious. We will definitely go back and highly recommend it.

Slurp Slurp, a 5/5! Rodney's has always been one of my favourite oyster bars to go to and revisiting this place has opened up a can of worms for me - in terms of wanting to have oysters all the time! I came back twice in two weeks! Service is great here and the oysters are super fresh with changing variety on the daily. Coming in on a summer day, they have a back patio that is pretty shaded since there's close buildings all around. It's a night seated area, so definitely opt for this. The other great spot is right by the bar watching them shuck and work! Once seated you get some bread and butter along with the menu. I opted for caesar to start and it came with a large cocktail shrimp in it. A double win for me to have extra seafood in my drink! We just let our server know to do a mixture of oysters for our first round, in that way we can weave out the ones that we really enjoy. We also let them know our preference in oyster flavours which is sweet and nothing creamy or too briny. They bring out a plate of condiments for your oysters like your classic tabasco, cocktail sauce, mignonette and more. First round of oysters were a strong contender, and our second round consisted of the ones we loved from the first. Ranging from kumamotos, cherrystone quahogs clams, and Boston oysters. They were all a 5/5 in sweetness, followed with a clean finish. We also got some razor clams that I could pass on the next time. Overall, I absolutely love this spot as the oysters are always fresh and the servers know their stuff! Come here for a snack or dinner but get ready to spend a pretty penny! Worth every dime.

Title belts are made to be worn. Amazing seafood and staff. Jessa was a gem of a bartender and oyster shucker.

Food is amazing, service is excellent. Thank you guys for two great nights. Ceviche, halibut, oysters and yellowfin tartare is out of this planet.

My mom discovered this place while we were searching for food in Toronto. We LOVE our seafood and eat it often. We tried to come yesterday but they were booked up so be sure to make a reservation, as we did tonight. We were promptly seated in a booth in the back of the restaurant where we're swiftly greeted by our server, court. He told my mom about the wines that pair well with the seafood and we ordered a dozen oysters practically right away. The oysters came with an amazing tray of different kinds of sauces and plenty of fresh grated horseradish. We had three different types and our server was able to tell us what they were and where they came from. Soon after our oysters, our main courses came. My mother had the New England clam chowder and I had the boiled lobster. The lobster was cut up for easy access and a lovely presentation. It was not over cooked and had great flavor. The clam chowder was creamy and had SOOOO many clams in it and lots of chunky potatoes. The restaurant itself had kitschy ocean themed decor and a wall of famous people that signed oysters! I was very excited to see Alex Trebek's signature next to my head (RIP the legend). Thanks guys! I'm stuffed

Hands down the best oysters in Toronto. The staff are super knowledgeable about the different types of oysters/regions and gave great recommendations. The oysters are meaty and flavourful, and there is such a wide selection to choose from. The lobster roll melted in my mouth - it was so fresh and tasty. The restaurant has a cool/lively vibe. There is a lot of seating, but this place gets busy quickly, so I suggest booking ahead of time. If you love seafood, go to rodneys!

Came for a team dinner and it was fantastic! Fresh seafood, generous portions and great service! Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The scallop pasta was delicious and the lobster salad sandwich was tasty. Would come again and try their oysters!

I rarely use the recs from the hotel. However, in this case I looked at the reviews for Rodney's, talked to a bartender & an Uber driver, and they all said Rodney's was good. Its located on restaurant heavy King St, West of the Entertainment District. I wanted to have some Atlantic oysters while visiting Toronto, and Rodney's was perfect. They had so many fresh options available, you could not go wrong. They also have a six house made sauces (from neutral to hot), that you can enjoy. Atlantic oysters are different fr Pacific oysters bc the water is colder. Nonetheless, this batch was uber fresh, and a great way to start the meal. For my entree, I had the bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops were also fresh, and super moist & flavorful fr the bacon. I washed this all down w/ a sake that I have not had before. It was nice & dry, and paired well w/ my dishes. Regarding the ambiance, its your typical wharf motif. There is an oyster bar in the center, where you can see the shuckers at work. Our waiter Anton hails fr Ukraine (God bless his country). He was super nice, informative and attentive. He noticed my t-shirt fr Hawai'i and he showed me his aloha & hula girl tattoos. He has never been to Hawai'i, but I thought it was great. I guess I won't be so narrow minded regarded hotel recs in the future. Rodney's was an awesome way to enjoy Atlantic oysters, and the service fr Anton was fantastic! As you can imagine, all restaurant recs are walking distance, so that was an added bonus.

I'm shocked and sad that my repeat visit here was so negative. After my first visit, I had such fond memories of my meal that I took a day off work and planned around coming here for lunch just to re-live a delicious meal. The complimentary bread tasted stale and was served cold. I could barely chew through the first bite and didn't bother eating the rest of it. We ordered some raw oysters and clams to start. I asked the waitress to recommend the more plump and creamy varieties -- they were all pretty small and surprisingly, the most expensive one (Kumamoto - $5.41/ea) was the smallest and least tasty one. We also tried the pan-fried oysters - the batter was overcooked and greasy. Because the mussels in the seafood stew were fantastic last time, we ordered a dedicated dish of steamed mussels. Sadly, they were much smaller this time and the toast that came with it was overcooked and hard as a rock. For entrees, we ordered the sea fry again, which was good - consistent with last times, as well as the lobster roll. The lobster roll didn't actually have that much lobster since the bread roll was stuffed with lettuce, but the 3 onion rings and a side salad was a nice touch. For a meal for two that cost ~$180, the quality of the dishes did not impress. Also, I have a strong suspicion that the raw oysters were not fresh because I had the worst stomachache of my life after the meal and it ruined the rest of my day. What a traumatizing experience.

RODNEY'S OYSTER HOUSE . . Seafood restaurant in Downtown Toronto serving a huge variety of fresh oysters, as well as lobster, crab, scallops, mussels, shrimp, etc. . . Steamed Mussels 4/5 Seafood Pasta 4/5 Nice Fundy Scallops 4.3/5 . . Although the food was yummy, it is quite pricey for the portion you are getting. The scallops were my favourite. They were cooked well and had great flavour. Steamed mussels were really small. We also asked our server how many mussels it came with and he had no idea. We asked if it was by the pound and he said I assume so? Very strange how servers don't even know. The seafood pasta was market price and we also asked about this and he said I think it's $26? ... "I think?". Overall the food tasted great, but service and server's knowledge of food items are severely lacking.

This was my first time at Rodney's and I was pleasantly surprised! I like that the vibes are causal, its family friendly, its good for holiday parties, its good for a date night and its good for a casual night out with friends! The servers were great! Their menu is large, with a good selection of drinks and food. They're known for their oysters, and it was pretty good! I also tried the mussels and clams, both were great and lots of bread to soak up the sauce! For my main I had scallops and it was perfect, not over cooked so it wasn't chewy and the mushrooms and spinach had great flavor and was the perfect pairing for the dish! For good seafood on the heart of King St W, I'd definitely recommend giving Rodney's a try!

The modern, chic decor sets a wonderful ambiance, and the service was immediate and welcoming. The food was spectacular from start to finish. We started with fresh, warm bread, followed by a flavorful seafood gumbo loaded with meat, and a generous portion of two lightly breaded crab cakes. For our mains, the 10oz ribeye and 8oz tenderloin were seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection--compliments to the chef! They came with a lovely side of baby potatoes and vegetables. We capped off a perfect meal with a warm pecan tart and ice cream. I highly recommend coming here. We noticed they have a pizza oven and plan to add pizza to the menu soon; we already can't wait for our next visit to try it out! They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

I don't think the takeout platters are offered for dine in - which is one downside if you would like to eat it in the restaurant. Regardless, a great value for fresh and good cuts of fish for the platters! For take out, we ordered two x seasonal sashimi platters to do a DIY handroll and sushi night at home with some friends. The cuts they gave in the platter were premium pieces such as otoro, chutoro, scallop etc. Highly recommend for a DIY food night at home with family/friends! On the website, if you order and pick up yourself it is $120 for ~40 pieces+ and if you order on uber eats it is $140 per platter. We had a group of 6 so splitting the cost is $40-47 per person which is a great value for good quality fish. For dine in - we ordered a few different items and all were wonderful. I had the Deluxe Maguro Kaisen Don (~$50) and the cuts of tuna (otoro, chutoro) were melt in your mouth. We've also tried their set menus and this came with a variety of dishes. It came with sashimi appetizer, pork belly, your choice of udon (we chose the uni, crab and cream udon), and your choice of don (we chose the wagyu). The set comes with a decent amount of food for only $42, very worth the value and we were full! The uni didn't taste fishy, udon was very creamy, and the wagyu was tender in the don. My sister in law ordered a set with many different small dishes on the plate ($40). It was nice to try different seasonal ingredients and sample it in small portions to try it all. The other occasion we had for dine in was a few years ago, and we both had different set menus with Maguro Toro Don and unagi Don. That set was delicious as well and we thought it was cool to pour a broth into the don bowl at the end to make it like a soup. This restaurant is also half market where they sell to-go food/handrolls/frozen ramen etc. The groceries were mainly Japanese ingredients and snacks. The restaurant itself is not to big so it can fill up quick! I would recommend making reservation if you are coming in a large group on busier nights/weekends. Will definitely return if we are in the area!
