Taiwanese beef wrap with satay sauce. A little salty
    Elaine K.

Good late night option as they are opened late. Food was flavourful but a few items were either too salty or too sweet. The kalbi (not pictured) was a disappointingly small portion for the price and very fatty. The pear dessert theoretically should be healthy but there was way too much rock sugar in it. Service was good. Some of the fruit in one of the desserts was rotten and they replaced the whole dessert. I'm not screaming to return but wouldnt oppose if someone suggested it.

Petit Potato occupies a genuinely intriguing niche in Toronto's dining landscape -- an Asian fusion establishment that aspires to a polished, almost European café sensibility. It is a concept I have not encountered elsewhere, and for that ambition alone, the house deserves recognition. The space itself is handsomely appointed: modern, inviting, and well-suited for a leisurely evening among friends. Where the experience falters, however, is at the plate. The kitchen's reach, while admirable in scope, does not consistently meet the standard that the elegant setting promises. Dishes arrive with visual appeal, yet the depth of flavour and finesse one anticipates from this calibre of presentation remain elusive. An establishment stepping into this rarefied territory must deliver cooking that matches its décor, and on this occasion, the food did not quite rise to the occasion. Service, too, would benefit from refinement. The genre Petit Potato has carved for itself calls for a certain warmth and conversational ease from its front-of-house team -- the kind of attentive hospitality that makes a guest feel guided rather than merely processed. That connection has yet to fully materialize. In sum, Petit Potato is a bold and commendable idea -- a brand new category, really -- with a beautiful room and clear creative vision. Should the kitchen sharpen its execution and the service cultivate a more engaging rhythm, this could become a destination worth revisiting. For now, it remains a promising concept still finding its stride.

Uni and scallop pasta + taco wasabi

This is a cross between Italian food with Asian flavor. I walk by this spot often and seem to be popular. On a whim I had a delivery of uni pasta and taco wasabi. Uni pasta is very rich as expected and Taco wasabi is ok. Hmmm some of the dishes are enticing and I don't think will travel well so might visit them sooner rather than later.3.5 stars for now

Longtime fan of the unagi omurice with cheese at their uptown location. Visited their downtown spot for the first time and definitely has a more downtown-night-out vibe. Went for lunch and got the lunch special: seaweed salad and edamame appetizer, a main, and mango pudding dessert. For my main, I got the chicken wrap with fries (fairly standard chicken wrap, though wrap was a bit too oily and there was an interesting gummy tteokbokki like taste). Also added the durian shake (strong flavour which i loved). Service and kitchen were quick. Lunch special price was great, especially these days. Overall, a good downtown spot if you want some asian fusion.

I saw so many delicious videos on TikTok for this incredible $16.49 lunch special that I actually went the very next day! So many amazing mains to choose from but I decided on the sliced pork ramen and absolutely loved it! So flavourful, rich and delicious. The pork slices weregenerous sizes and I think this is now my favourite pork ramen in Toronto! It's advertised as a 4 course meal and I laughed when I saw how tiny the appetizer, salad and dessert was. But the edamame, seaweed salad and mango pudding were all delicious. Before eating I loved the design of the two menus for food and drinks because they looked like beautiful large format magazines with fantastic photography! The cutlery was also exquisite and cool looking. We got a seat by the window and came early at 11:45am to beat the Thursday crowd. The ambiance of this large restaurant was elegant and spacious. And big thanks to our server Zoey who was friendly and fast with our meals. I'm definitely coming back because I want to try more delicious looking mains! They have three locations in GTA but this Bay and Wellesley location is best for us. Highly recommend!

The food was okay. Really big portions and lots of options on the menu. The omurice was a great texture, but a little on the bland side. The service was as good as anywhere else. The atmosphere was pretty with the nice blue lighting. The presentation of the food was good, and I would come back for the expansive menu.

I've gone to the Petit Potato location in North York, and it was for dessert (which was delicious, by the way). Walking around downtown Toronto on Bay St., I noticed a new location in time for a spring opening! After reading the menu in North York, I wanted to try the main courses. My friends and I arrived for an early Sunday dinner, and I was hoping it wouldn't be too busy or crowded because of the weekend. To my surprise, tables were spaced out very well and not too close together (unlike the North York location), plus the dining area had a chill and pleasant vibe (where it was loud and somewhat chaotic in North York). I ordered the Japanese Poutine to start, while my friend ordered Elote (corn ribs). The poutine was just as good as its Canadian version, with the addition of ground meat and a savoury gravy that reminded me of curry sauce. I tried one of my friend's corn ribs, which had a bit of a spicy kick. My main entree was the chicken cutlet omurice, which was my first kind of omurice since I tried it at Incheon International Airport last year. Every bite of this dish was completed by the rich curry sauce that enveloped the meal. I had a little room left over after I completed my meal, and sampled the mushroom truffle spaghetti my friend couldn't finish. That pasta was another winning dish, so creamy and delectable. We were so full by the end of the main course, we passed on dessert. That didn't mean I couldn't look in wonder at the menu, and save those images and descriptions for the next visit!

First meal in Toronto and it started off with a bang! It was fairly quiet inside the restaurant since our flight was delayed and we arrived for a very late lunch at ~3pm. Service was excellent! All of the servers were very friendly, attentive and hard-working. I saw one of them cleaning the windows when she had nothing to do. Dining environment was hip, modern and spacious. In terms of the food, I was initially a bit skeptical since "fusion" and an overly long menu usually means they're a jack of all trades but master of none but all the dishes that we ordered were fantastic! Pork cutlet omurice with curry- Nothing out of the ordinary but solid and hits the spot. Uni spaghetti with scallop- A very delicious and creamy sauce! Scallops were not bad. Mango special golden toast- They're signature dish and an absolute masterpiece. You have the option of having them prepare it right when you place your order or after you're done with the other main dishes. Would recommend going with the first option since it takes a while to make and it'll likely arrive at your table right when you finish your other dishes. This was an absolutely delicious dessert and most importantly, not too sweet!! But can you really go wrong with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, fresh mango/mango sauce and toast?? Warning: this thing is humongous and we actually weren't able to finish it. Would recommend ordering only if you have 4+ people in your party. Overall, this was an excellent dining experience to start off our trip in Toronto. Delicious food, top notch service, enjoyable dining environment, and affordable prices. I will definitely be back whenever I visit Toronto to get the special golden toast again!

Affordable sister restaurant to congee queen, from the same owners Beautiful and diverse menu with a huge variety of dishes, from traditional Chinese soups to fried toast towers. I have been here a few times and our groups were seated right away. They do charge a fee for bringing our own alcohol, and there was a misunderstanding. HOWEVER, they kindly made it up to us by giving us a free milk pudding. Spacious and clean washrooms

Lovely atmosphere, but the communication issues were frustrating. I really wanted to love this place. The meals were well-prepared and the restaurant is beautiful--definitely a great spot for a date. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. We were told the dessert we wanted was out of stock (no ingredients). Yet, as we sat there for another hour, we saw several other tables receive that specific dessert. When we asked for clarification, the explanation regarding prep times logically didn't fit the timeline of when we ordered versus what we were seeing. I left with a sour taste in my mouth, not because of the food, but because the situation felt handled poorly. I hope they improve their communication in the future.

Finally got a chance to visit Petit Potato downtown. It has a chillaxing vibe....and also a bit chilly from the door opening and closing. The server was prompt to take our orders and our food arrived quickly. I ordered the black truffle mushroom spaghetti with cream sauce and it was perfection. My friend ordered the uni spaghetti with scallops. She said there were only 2 little scallops. We also ordered drinks that didn't come. We had to ask for it and the drinks finally came half way through our dinner. The restaurant wasn't even busy. It was an ok experience. Service could be better.

Found this new location walking on Bay. It was my friend's first time trying Petit Potato and she loved it! Service was quick even on Saturday afternoon. Food was very satisfactory in terms of portion and flavour. I specially really enjoyed the eel omelette! Restaurant was well decorated similar to the other locations, and is quite convenient location. (in downtown core, but not too crowded area) Willing to visit again soon :)

My friends and I walked here after a late night of drinking, and we came to the NEW Petit Potato location for some good substance food lol. The Uni Cream & Scallop Pasta was perfect, super creamy and very filling. I've always been a huge fan of Petit Potato at their North York locations, so as expected, the quality would be just as great! The atmosphere was interesting - it has 3 different sections with different vibes, a bit hard to see because it is quite dark inside - unfortunately, the back section was not open to public at that time I was there. Service was quick and courteous. I'd recommend coming here again :)

With prices of an upscale dining restaurant, the service didn't feel like it matched up; it was fairly mediocre. Food was a bit of a hit or miss for us too.. Shrimp toast: fun, good texture, could taste the oiliness stronger than I expected. Paired well with the emulsion. Fun guo: super tasty, quite greasy though. I typically don't order fun guo but the texture was a delight to eat. Pork & crab siu mai: this felt like it lacked identity, not really sure I saw the vision. It just felt like curry on a siu mai lol Iberico cha siu: beautiful cut, perfectly tender, good savouriness, no complaints. R&D fried rice: my biggest letdown. Maybe my expectations were set to high. For a house special, I would expect a solid crowd-pleaser. Having each bite feeling mostly like 'crunch' is not what I think of as fried rice nor a favourite for most people. My ideal fried rice focuses on the grains of rice, with substantial bite and flavour in each spoonful. The flavour was most definitely there, don't get me wrong but it was extremely hard to eat more than a bowl. The redeeming qualities were in the flavour and cute little mushroom garden concept. If they had maybe 2x the amount of rice for the ratio of toppings and crunch, I would say this is a delicious and near perfect fried rice. Not bad, but a hefty price tag for a meal that I had really high hopes for.
