Wait was about an hour from the doors open. Not including waiting. Servers turned tables as quickly as possible. QR code used to order is a bit of a hassle setting up verification code etc. Spicy Udon creamy sauce and the meat which cooks on the plate. Good flavor, sauce didn't quite stick to the noodles. We came to try out their set meal, which comes with teppanyaki, an appetizer, and a drink or dessert of your choice. We had the garlic beef rice and spicy mentaiko beef udon with their house special chicken wings and mango supreme mochi instead of a drink. Came in roughly at 9:30 pm. The restaurant was quite packed but there was a table to seat me and my friends. The interior has a simple design with nothing too flashy or outstanding. Flaming kitchen serves their beef mostly raw, as the plate when served is very hot. You can cook the rest of the beef by pressing it against your plate, which I think is pretty cool. The taste of my dish was so-so. It didn't taste bad, but because my dish was cheesey as well as a curry, all the flavours were mixed together. I tried a bit of the Supreme beef rice and I did like that better. It being fried gave it a fresher taste that was more enjoyable. Sorry, I didn't get it. Flaming Kitchen shows up on a lot of Instagram feeds and even on friends' Facebook pages so it became a place that I had to try. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. Maybe my dining companion and I just missed the point. We started with Black Curry Poutine, one of the dishes featured in their menu. What we got was nothing like the picture that we just saw in the menu. First of all, isn't the cast iron plate supposed to be hot? Aren't fries supposed to be hot? Nothing was hot enough to melt the cheese. The curry flavour was very mild, hardly detectable. This dish was not a good value at 7.99. My companion ordered a spicy beef udon noodle dish with mushrooms and zucchini added on. Her dish arrived swimming in a cheese sauce (not mentioned in the menu). It was more like a runny mac 'n' cheese. I ordered a beef dish with rice and added on smoked duck breast (3.49) and mushrooms (1.49). It did arrive sizzling hot and still cooking. It required a quick stir to prevent burning. Flavourwise, it was okay but not great. Overall, none of our dishes looked anything like the pictures in the menu. Came here before COVID and it's a decent place for Asian food but I wouldn't say it's the best. Service is okay kinda slow. The prices were average ranging from 10-25 for a main dish. Mentaiko Beef Udon was my favourite dish and probably the only reason I would come back and eat here again. The creamy spicy flavour is really good if you like cheese. Another good dish was definitely the toppoki, it had similar flavours to the Mentaiko Beef Udon but with more cheese. Spaghetti, herb & cream sauce + some black pepper, chicken, add cheese. The mozza cheese came out first on a small bowl which you'd put on the pasta as it's sizzling. Smells soooo good and was super hot so you know the food is fresh. Mine came with mushrooms on the top (didn't know that it came with it) I don't like mushrooms so I took it off. It did not alter the taste anyways. My friend ordered their spicy cream udon + duck on their lunch special. The udon was soft and chewy, sauce was just a little spicy but overall surprisingly a good combo. The duck slices kinda tasted like bacon for some reason LOL. The first time I came here, it wasn't that great of an experience. It took around 30-45 minutes for our food to come out, and we did remind them it was taking quite some time but the waitress didn't do anything about it. However, the spicy duck breast udon was delicious!!! The udon had the perfect chew to it, and the sauce was sooooo yummmy. They also gave quite a few pieces of the duck breast. This dish alone would be getting a 4/5 from me. All in all, I don't think $13 is worth it for one dish with no drink. With that said, I'll only be coming here for lunch because I do think $10+1 is a good deal for the spicy duck breast dish with the honey green tea.
