Dough fritter dipped seafood super bowl congee
    Kathleene S.

My friends call this the McDonald's of Chinese food lol. I LOVE congee queen and have been coming here with family on almost every holiday and birthday for at least 15 years! I consider it one of my comfort foods. For every visit, we always order the Seafood Super Bowl Congee which is served in this huge bowl enough to share for 5 people. If you haven't been here before, you should know that these are all large, shareable dishes! For the congee, we usually pair it with an order of the dough fritters. We order the - idk the spelling forgive me - yang chow fried rice, but the empress fried rice is also just as good which is served with a sweet and salty drizzle of sauce and unagi. We also love getting the spicy mango chicken and shrimp dish and the salt and pepper squid. Turnip cakes are also a must! The Cheung fun is also pretty good but not amazing. Chow mein is also a classic and I love that they don't skimp on the portions of ingredients including protein. For drinks, they have a full range of alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. My friend recently got me hooked on the lemon iced tea, which I love because it has the a refreshing sweetness and ice level. They've recently upgraded their tech so they'll give you a menu booklet and a QR code receipt so you can order via the website. You'll need to flag a server for the bill. I believe if you're older or not tech savvy, they are still open to taking your order the traditional way. The washrooms smell like they're clean but in a dirty way. But overall kind of dirty and not well kept. I try to avoid going there. It's often very busy during peak hours. They accept reservations but also take a numbering system for walk ins. I find it takes up to a max of 20 minutes to be seated on holidays. Overall, highly recommend others check this place out.

One of the Congee Queen locations that I don't visit often. Came here on a Sunday to have lunch with a friend. The restaurant was really busy luckily we called and made a reservation in the morning. There were a lot of people waiting for a table. You would need to order using the QR code link. The food came pretty fast. Fried Chili Turnip Patties: 5/5 It's one of the appetizers I like getting from Congee Queen. Squared cube patties, texture is soft inside and a bit crunchy outside. It's super delicious! Fried Rice Noodle with Chicken & Vegetable: 5/5 One of my fav dishes, the amount of sauce was perfect not overloading like other places. The portion is huge. Beef with rice noodle: 4/5 Beef was very tender and the portion is decent. Overall, all dishes are perfect for sharing. The portions are huge, worth the prices you pay. Would recommend paying by cash as you can get 5% off. The discount isn't a lot but it's still something.

Love this location! The food is consistently good, and the service is quick! Other positives: Soft lighting Large portions Very clean inside Comfortable seating Tables are nicely spaced Plenty of mall parking in the evening Close access to Hwy 401 / Kennedy exit Negatives: Avoid the cute rounded corner booth in front of the washrooms. The doors are open, and every time someone uses the hand dryer you can smell the bathroom at the table.

First dinner in Toronto and it was solid! My older cousin, who lives in the area, picked it because it's consistently good but even she didn't expect that it would have blown up on Mother's Day Sunday dinner. No worries though, the tables do turn over often and we were able to get seated in 30. We started with the house Super Bowl congee and I was impressed not only by the variety but also the quality! The sea scallop was so sweet and I was impressed by the filet of salmon too! The texture of the congee was smooth and creamy, just how I like it. Next came the empress rice which was super tasty especially with the unagi bites shrewn about! The only way this could have been improved is if they used real crab - it was just the imitation stuff. Then came the pan fried rice noodle roll with beef and mushrooms...it was different? Not bad but also not great? I did enjoy the crispy fried chili turnip patties. It reminded me a bit of the "white carrot cake" in Singapore and I really enjoyed the play between the crispy exterior and the sweeter, more pillowy interior. Our last dish, the fried bean curd with vegetables was also a bit unremarkable on overall flavor but I really liked how the tofu was fried. The interior was still soft and creamy with a fresh soy flavor - really quite tasty! I was amused by the staff and how they made sure we couldn't pay (you know how Asians fight for the bill). They made sure my cousin would win but they did try to sweet talk us into coming back so we could get our turn too - haha, funny!

We looked up restaurants nearby and found this place available for 10 people for dinner. This place is spacious but it was busy so we had 2 separate tables. Service was terrible. We had 2 separate tables and they only gave us 1 pot of tea. It was very hard to get the staff attention to ask for anything. They had us order online too so it was even less interaction with the staff. The food wasn't so great. Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce - the broccoli was so under cooked it was hard and inedible. We barley touched this. Fried wonton - the skin was so soggy it was hard to bite apart. Flavors were okay Shrimp with egg sauce - this was so bland and the rice was hard. Sweet and sour pork - the sauce was decent but then pork was too fried that the batter was hard and the pork was chewy Beef congee - this was the best out of everything we ordered

Another Congee Queen location that I love. This location is always busy and has lots of people waiting by the door. I think the turnaround time is pretty fast/ reasonable though. I find their dishes here at this location a lot bigger than their other locations - love that! Service is always quick and there's always someone around to help if you need anything. The food is always great and we get our usual staples. Eel Fried Rice 5/5 - My go to dish that is packed with fried eel pieces and has a nice sweet sauce on the top. BBQ Pork Rice 3/5 - Can probably skip this dish. It's nothing too special but does come with a huge mountain of white rice. Fried Flat Noodle with Beef 4/5 - A great dish for sharing and comes in a beautiful golden colour. Steamed Plain Rice Rolls 5/5 - Love a simple dish. This comes with peanut sauce, hoisin sauce and soy sauce to dip or drizzle on top. Tasty and silky smooth rice rolls. Turnip Cakes 5/5 - A savoury dish that comes in cubed turnip pieces. It's friend and has a crispy exterior with a soft fluffy interior. All the dishes at Congee Queen are great for sharing. Always have it family style so that you can try a bit of everything. I always come back here so can't wait for my next dining experience again.

Congee Queen is a popular Cantonese restaurant chain serving up some delicious sizzling plates, congee, fried noodles, fried rice, chinese bbq, and many other delicacies. I've been going to this location for many years. Over the years, the prices have gone up significantly and have eroded the value. Some dishes were generous portions, while some were tiny like the tiger shrimps. If you are looking for some wok hei order a sizzling plate or chow mein. My favourites are Cantonese chowmein, Yeung chow fried rice, fried chili turnips, salt n pepper squid, sweet and sour pork. There are many options in Scarborough if you're looking for some traditional Cantonese comfort food. Be sure to check them out, but make sure you bring cash so you can take advantage of the 10% cash discount. The service is adequate and typical for asian restaurants. The ambiance is casual.

Beef is nice taste. Squid looks good but i couldnt eat it

The wait times is around 15 minutes and the toilet were clean upon waiting. Though the space upon entering to wait is very tight and it should be given space to accomodate for the exit. When i tried the food in terms of quality it was a bit lower than what i am used to eat here. It is nice to have take out for later considering the portion was huge which is good.

One of our family go to restaurant. Attach pics that we normally order. Went on a Friday and told 1 hr wait for 6 ppl but sat in 25 mins. Paid cash cause it's 5%off. With 7 dish, our total was $121. 2024 price

The restaurant is overcrowded not because there are a lot of customers but because they seat everyone into one half of the venue. It is cramped and everyone is essentially directly next to one another. It is very squishy in terms of space especially if you come here with a party of 4 or less. They are understaffed with inattentive employees. Don't expect to get anyone's attention anytime soon. The food is alright but there isn't much of a discrepancy between other branches and this one. All in all, I reccomend going to another branch that has less customer traffic if you can.

    Dennis C.

They were really busy but they still took the effort in checking the vac certificates which is not always the case. The food is quite good as usual! One observation since we come a lot is the portion sizes went down (the the size of the plates is smaller for the same dish). I guess this is a victim of the increased food pricing. Oh well. For good quality Causal Chinese dining at a reasonable price, this is a decent choice.

Curry Fried Rice Noodle with Shrimp and BBQ Pork

Throughout my childhood, my family used to frequent Congee Queen for their take on classic Cantonese favourites. It has been a while since I visited a Congee Queen since I was up in Ottawa for school and the prices for their dishes have risen. Nevertheless, Congee Queen is a staple if you are looking for a tasty meal, whether it's with your friend, significant one, family or even for those large gatherings. Yesterday, I visited Congee Queen to catch up with a friend who has been keening to eat there again during his visit to Toronto. We met up during lunch hour and we were seated quickly thankfully. We took a look at the menu and their options have expanded from the classics of fried rice, congee and noodles. I decided to order their lunch set of Fried Rice Noodles with Beef & Soy Sauce and he ordered the Curry Fried Rice Noodles with Shrimp & BBQ Pork, with a side order of Shrimp Wontons to share. The Fried Rice Noodles with Beef & Soy Sauce was adequate. There was the wok hei flavour as the noodles were dry and tossed well with the bean sprouts and onion. The seasoning was a tad weak as it was lacking just a bit of salt, but overall, it was a nicely prepared dish. The Shrimp Wontons were decently portion with the right ratio between the shrimp filling and dumpling wrapper. The broth was a nice compliment for the wontons. The Curry Fried Rice Noodles with Shrimp & BBQ Pork was nicely prepared with the curry seasoning wrapping up all the flavours in the dish. Overall, Congee Queen is a great staple in the Toronto food scene for their dedication to bring a taste of classic Cantonese fare to the city. I have had great memories from this place and it continues to be a go-to for my fellow Torontonians over the years.

The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking.
