Went back to Congee Queen to have some old favourites and also try some new dishes -- we had a great meal of tasty and comforting food in with plenty of leftovers! ****^ Beef tendons were braised soft and tender, delicious, with white radish ****^ Chili turnip patties were good, tasty ***^ Pea leaves with garlic was solid **^ Dry fried Rice noodle with beef was okay, good noodle texture but not very flavorful. It's a very large portion ** Salt and pepper tofu had a good crispy texture but lacked flavour Service was good.

The food is good, the prices are even better. I've been coming here at least once a year for the past decade now, and it's always exactly what they think it is. It isn't the best food in the world, but it's very fairly priced and it does the job at any time of day. My favourite is the crispy Cantonese chow mein, and the spice and pepper salt squid.

Once every few years, I visit Canada to see relatives. Congee Queen is usually a place we go to once. To be honest, I was never super excited to go to Congee Queen since congee isn't super exciting. But my visit today was better than how I remembered it from the past. The food came out pretty quickly. Do note the place was air-conditioned very well; I saw many people wearing their sweaters. There were more dishes, but I'm sticking to reviewing and showing the ones I ate more of: The shrimp wonton had a great flavor and light broth. The wonton pieces were large and generous. The tofu wasn't overpowered with anything; its natural taste shined and went well with the other saltier dishes. Seafood congee was perfect; not too salty or bland. Wish there was a little more seafood in there. Beef noodles were really good. Classic taste, nothing unexpected but simple goodness.

One of the better congees I have had! This place is called Congee Queen, but they don't only serve congee. They have other stuff, most of which are HK style cafe staples. However, because they are known for congee, and we only had 2 people, we decided to get their house special congee which is a bougie congee with shrimp, mussels, scallops, imitation crab, grouper, salmon, etc, which were all fresh and delicious. The congee itself is also quite flavorful and nicely salted, with a little hint of white pepper. After tax and tip, it came out to around 20 USD total for 2 people, a price unheard of in the US. Food came out fast and this location has ample seating so we didn't have to wait at all for a table on a Thursday lunch. They do have lunch specials, but they don't really involve congee, so we skipped on those when we went here.

I've been coming to this location ever since I was 11 years old. I'm 26 now, and I still love their food. My husband and I surprised my parents in Toronto and my dad asked me where I wanted to eat for lunch I knew I had to say Congee Queen. There's some good Chinese restaurants here in Oahu, but nothing beats Congee Queen for me. We came here on September 4 around noon. I thought there'd be a long wait, but we got seated right away. But the restaurant was really busy. We ordered our usual order: * Calamari -- it's crispy, salted perfectly and goes so well with the chili sauce. * Empress Fried Rice -- my parent's' favourite! It's got eel, fish roe and crab meats! So delicious! * Shrimp Wonton Soup -- they really put the shrimp in the shrimp wonton! It's clear broth, and it just makes you feel all warm inside. * Deep Fried Turnip -- my favourite. I don't know how to explain it, but if you ever do go, you MUST order this and dip it in the chili sauce. * Chicken with Lemon Sauce -- this was husband's order, it was okay to me. But my husband liked it. Whenever we go Toronto, we always eat here. The service isn't bad, but it can be better. But I don't care, when I come here, I'm here for the food!

When you walk in, the staff directed me to a tablet by the podium where you enter your full name and phone number. You will get a text message that lets you know your waitlist code and another text will be sent when your table is ready. Food: My family and I ordered half a roasted duck, snow pea leaves stir-fried in garlic, minced pork congee with century and salted egg, and my brother got the Pad Thai. The snow pea leaves arrived first followed by the congee. Everything we ordered tasted good. The skin on the roasted duck was glistening and had a subtle crunch and not too much fat on the duck. The chili oil did not taste spicy hot to me and I was fine with that. The portion size is enough to have leftovers to take home for the price. If you don't intend on bringing leftovers home, I recommend ordering less # of steamed rice bowls to begin to prevent over-ordering. Service/atmosphere: It's quite loud and bustling here, which just contributes to how much people like coming here. The staff are quick and gave good customer service.

Oh man was this place good. So my friends were saying Toronto is known for their Canto food and wow were they right. The restaurant is located in a tiny strip mall with a nail salon right next door but don't let this unassuming location deter you from getting some really awesome Chinese food. The food: Shredded Pork & Gold Preserved Egg Congee- This is the default congee for me, this is the one I order whenever I order congee and the one here was specular. I loved the wonderful thick texture of the congee and the flavor of the pork and preserved egg went perfectly. I would say this is one of the best congees I ever had. BBQ Duck- In New York, we call this roast duck but this was the hands down best roast duck I ever had. I am a little sad we didn't order other BBQ items since we had a ton of food, so hopefully next time. The duck was incredible, it was super juicy, perfectly seasoned and had a nice outer char on the skin. I did find the dipping sauce to be a bit too sweet but overall an absolute must order. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=0l8m7UDEN_IH1pQHhz3dRA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Fried Chili Turnip Patties- Diced turnip patties stir fried with shrimp, chicken, pickle & egg in a spicy chili sauce. This is one of the more popular items here and as much as I enjoyed the flavor, I felt the texture was lacking. The flavor alone I say was an 8/10 but the turnip was way too soft, I was hoping to get some type of fried exterior for some crunch but that was nonexistent. Overall, this dish could have been amazing if it had a crunchy element, maybe it was just a miss that day. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1UYKKXnOLAULbcdyCT2DAg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Shrimp & Chive Rice Noodle Roll- I thought the version here was OK. HA Churn is my all time fav dim sum but the one here was just good. I found the dough to be too soft and the flavor of the chive was surprisingly lacking, I thought I was going to get a nice chive hit but it came off very mild. Also, the shrimp wasn't that exciting either.

Craving for some comfort Chinese food? Congee Queen is the way to go! We dined in Monday evening, and I suggest dining in than doing take out! You get more portions and more variety of seafood and toppings than what you get in a takeout. They give you your table number with a QR code and you can make your order directly on the site than having the waiters get your order. The food comes in a timely manner, and gives you a pot of tea to have with your food. The food is delicious and fresh. We always get their fried chili turnip patties; very crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. We also ordered the two BBQ meats on rice which was duck and pork. We also ordered their Hong Kong style chow mein, and their stir fried beef and Chinese broccoli. The beef was so soft and tender. The flavours are all very delicious and reminded me of Hong Kong, especially the loud cashes of dishes being put away while cleaning the table for the next diners. The interior design is a typical Chinese interior design, with a window of an array of BBQ displaying and chefs cooking in the kitchen. Lots of round tables and side private seating as well for an array of groups of people. Servers are friendly and helpful, and even helped put your left over food in containers.

Impressed with the service and food quality! First off, we went in person to order, too bad it's still stage 2 and can't dine in yet. They have at least 10 tables of organized pick up orders-wow! So efficient. Our order was made quick too. The manager was super friendly and we noticed an ad that you get a free sweet and sour dish if you order on their app for the first time. Not only was the service excellent, but the food was so tasty! The B12 salted egg, pork and preserved egg congee was flavourful. The sweet and sour was crispy and classic. P9 Fried dough rice rolls were decent too, though I wish I had more sauce to dip it in. Overall delicious meal and super happy. Would recommend!

It's been so long since I've had Congee Queen for some reason so we decided to get some takeout for lunch. We ordered by phone - 12% discount for takeout and paying by cash on all orders. Don't need a VIP card to get this deal for now. Food: Beef with rice noodle - classic Cantonese dish that is done really well. Lots of sliced beef, noodles have lots of flavor and wok aroma. 5/5. Sweet and sour vermicelli with bbq pork - this was my first time having this. On paper it doesn't sound great but the flavor is very good. I'd say it's more on the sweet side than sour. There's these unique pickled (?) sweet melon that adds a burst of sweetness. Everything is cooked well, wish there was a bit more meat. Price: Prices are steadily rising. About 15$ per dish now. I find you pay a bit more but are getting consistently good and authentic Chinese food.

    Lunch specials need vegs.
