First time trying Congee Queen and I went with the Crispy Bite Fried Tofu. The tofu was surprisingly soft on the inside while the outside had a nice crispy texture. Each bite basically melts in your mouth, which made it really enjoyable even without any sauce. The restaurant itself is quite large with plenty of seating for dine-in. There's parking available outside, which is convenient, although there are a few stairs at the entrance to keep in mind. It was also pretty busy even on a weekday, so it seems like a popular spot. Service and ambience felt decent overall, but it's a bit early for me to fully judge since I only ordered takeout this time. One nice bonus is that they offer a 10% discount if you pay by cash. Had a terrible experience with the store manager (Male, little bald), who dictated over lunch menu and created inconvenience for customers. Seems like he has a bad reputation if you search "manager" in the Ggl reviews. I was a loyal Congee Queen customer for 6+ years and I work around that area. The Wednesday before last week, my colleagues and I went there, he ordered bubble tea with lunch menu (iced milk tea with $1 bubble). I then ordered again this Tuesday which worked. However yesterday, he added a separate charge of $7 bubble milk tea outside the lunch menu. He said they've never done this. I said look at the bank transactions, it happened twice, once to my colleague, once to myself the past 2 weeks. While the full menu did say +$1 to add bubbles in drinks section, the manager dictated and said the 1-page fixed lunch menu didn't mention anything about it, and wanna blame his servers. I don't understand why the manager gave customers a hard time on picking their favorite drinks. With $4 dollars difference and his bad attitude, We won't come here again till this is resolved read more

Cantonese style and a bit westernized. - Congee with Shrimp and Scallop - their congee is pretty reliable in consistency and flavour. Shrimp and Scallops were ok. - Shrimp and Chive Rice Noodle - guess this is like the Ha Cheung dim sum item. Wasn't that impressed with it. Noodles were too sticky and the dipping sauce was just plain soy sauce and not the normal sugary soy one. Have had the BBQ pork and Lo Mein before and they are not bad choices. Service (3.5/5) - this one gets busy and waits are not uncommon. I've always found the servers here fine but somewhat businesslike. Orders come out fairly promptly. Atmosphere (3.5/5) - similar to other locations however this one is starting to show some wear overall. Overall (3.5/5) - it's a decent option for a group of 3-4 or more. I can always count on Congee Queen for a delicious meal. My friend and I recently stopped in for a quick bite after a local concert nearby. We had their Beef with Chinese Broccoli and Beef Internal Delicacy Noodle Soup. We enjoyed both dishes but the service was very rushed. We had arrived at 9:05pm and greeted with a "warning" that they close at 10:00pm. We figured that would be enough time for us, and in the end, it was more than enough time. The food is good, the prices are even better. I've been coming here at least once a year for the past decade now, and it's always exactly what they think it is. It isn't the best food in the world, but it's very fairly priced and it does the job at any time of day. There were more dishes, but I'm sticking to reviewing and showing the ones I ate more of: The shrimp wonton had a great flavor and light broth. The wonton pieces were large and generous. The tofu wasn't overpowered with anything; its natural taste shined and went well with the other saltier dishes. Seafood congee was perfect; not too salty or bland. But the restaurant was really busy. We ordered our usual order: * Calamari -- it's crispy, salted perfectly and goes so well with the chili sauce. * Empress Fried Rice -- my parent's' favourite! It's got eel, fish roe and crab meats! So delicious! * Shrimp Wonton Soup -- they really put the shrimp in the shrimp wonton! It's clear broth, and it just makes you feel all warm inside. * Deep Fried Turnip -- my favourite. One of the better congees I have had! This place is called Congee Queen, but they don't only serve congee. They have other stuff, most of which are HK style cafe staples. However, because they are known for congee, and we only had 2 people, we decided to get their house special congee which is a bougie congee with shrimp, mussels, scallops, imitation crab, grouper, salmon, etc, which were all fresh and delicious. The congee itself is also quite flavorful and nicely salted, with a little hint of white pepper. After tax and tip, it came out to around 20 USD total for 2 people, a price unheard of in the US. Food came out fast and this location has ample seating so we didn't have to wait at all for a table on a Thursday lunch. They do have lunch specials, but they don't really involve congee, so we skipped on those when we went here. read more

When you walk in, the staff directed me to a tablet by the podium where you enter your full name and phone number. You will get a text message that lets you know your waitlist code and another text will be sent when your table is ready. Food: My family and I ordered half a roasted duck, snow pea leaves stir-fried in garlic, minced pork congee with century and salted egg, and my brother got the Pad Thai. The snow pea leaves arrived first followed by the congee. Everything we ordered tasted good. The skin on the roasted duck was glistening and had a subtle crunch and not too much fat on the duck. The chili oil did not taste spicy hot to me and I was fine with that. The portion size is enough to have leftovers to take home for the price. If you don't intend on bringing leftovers home, I recommend ordering less # of steamed rice bowls to begin to prevent over-ordering. Both were great. Fritter for the congee was solid E-Fu noodle was too dry and a little tasteless despite the presence of crab meat that appeared real. Sweet and sour pork were dry. Over cooked. Fried chill turnip patties was a big order with big cubes. Lacked a little depth or flavour though. Overall ok. If you stick to what they are good at, you will have a good meal. One big negative. They don't have chinese mustard. We asked for it and got the North American style you use for hotdogs. That's sorta gross and shame on anyone who uses this on chinese food. Don't need a VIP card to get this deal for now. Food: Beef with rice noodle - classic Cantonese dish that is done really well. Lots of sliced beef, noodles have lots of flavor and wok aroma. 5/5. Sweet and sour vermicelli with bbq pork - this was my first time having this. On paper it doesn't sound great but the flavor is very good. I'd say it's more on the sweet side than sour. There's these unique pickled (?) sweet melon that adds a burst of sweetness. Everything is cooked well, wish there was a bit more meat. Price: Prices are steadily rising. About 15$ per dish now. You get more portions and more variety of seafood and toppings than what you get in a takeout. They give you your table number with a QR code and you can make your order directly on the site than having the waiters get your order. The food comes in a timely manner, and gives you a pot of tea to have with your food. The food is delicious and fresh. We always get their fried chili turnip patties; very crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. We also ordered the two BBQ meats on rice which was duck and pork. We also ordered their Hong Kong style chow mein, and their stir fried beef and Chinese broccoli. The beef was so soft and tender. The flavours are all very delicious and reminded me of Hong Kong, especially the loud cashes of dishes being put away while cleaning the table for the next diners. The interior design is a typical Chinese interior design, with a window of an array of BBQ displaying and chefs cooking in the kitchen. I am very disappointed with the food I received yesterday from Uber eat. Since uber eats can't show the comments and reviews I left for others, I decided to leave another review at Yelp. I ordered the turnip cake and shredded pork with century egg congee yesterday at 1225 (so when they just opened). The turnip cake inside the container looked very brown and soggy. Before the tunip cake $15 used to have egg, chilli, shrimp and shredded chicken inside, but this time there was none. The turnip cake was greasy with a bad taste of old oil. ( which explains why it is so brown) some parts were burned and bitter. The shredded pork with century egg congee (皮蛋瘦肉粥) had no shredded pork inside. Instead, it was mistaken for shredded chicken. I have had congee queen many times, and this is the very first time that I am so disappointed with the food. The food quality drops and it is honestly not worth it to spend $40 for whatever I got yesterday. So, the food here never disappoints. Every dish I have eaten here has always been delicious and on point. Because the food is so good, the restaurant is generally busy. Expect a long line up at peak time. What is not so on point is this system of waiting. You are given a piece of paper with a number on it, and you wait for the number to be called. The problem is that the restaurant is very noisy, but they don't have a microphone to call out the numbers. As a result, it is super hard to hear your number being called out, which was what happened to my friends and I. We missed our number being called even though we were listening out for it. First stop after our camping trip was for some comfort food at Congee Queen. They have a variety of congees you can choose from in 2 different sizes. We definitely over ordered as I would say the small is enough for 2 people to share if you are ordering any extra dishes. The large was huge. We ordered the fish with pig liver congee, fish maw and seafood congee, and the shrimp and scallop congee. Yes, it was too much. Out of the 3, the shrimp and scallop one was our least favorite as it was tasteless. The turnip cake is a must eat as every table in the resto had one. Fried noddles with seafood was delicious as was the salmon fried rice but please note that the fried rice is made with smoked salmon so if you aren't a fan of smoked salmon, you probably won't like it. I am usually a fan of congee queen. I've been to many locations and always enjoy the well-priced Chinese food. However, I had a very bad experience with this particular location. We walked in at 1:30 to a half empty restaurant and was told that we had to wait 15 min because ALL the tables were occupied. Literally half the restaurant was empty, just that all the tables for 2 were occupied. When I asked that if we could sit at one of the bigger tables (because there were SO many empty ones and it's clearly past peak lunch hour), the staff said no, they were all reserved already. I find it hard to believe that they had so many lunch reservations for 1:30 pm or later. Eventually after 5 min, we got seated in a booth. I am very unimpressed with their customer service. I really don't understand why they can't seat us when there are so many empty tables. And sure enough, through the entire duration of our lunch, most of the tables remained empty.
