Scallop and tiger shrimp congee, turnip cake
Helen T.

This location is located at Centre Point Mall, if you turn in from their Yonge entrance/ driveway the restaurant is located on your right. The venue is spacious, offering various table sizes that can accommodate most party types. I feel like their food is better than their downtown location. Pro: Cash discount 5% Cons: They don't give courtesy change - automatic assumption that all the reminder is their tip

Takeout for New Year's Day

Congee Queen used to be a family tradition at a different location growing up, and their consistent and reliable execution of Cantonese Chinese dishes keeps us coming back, even as they've expanded into an empire with multiple locations. Recently, I was searching for lobster E-Fu noodles to add to our New Year's gathering. I mean, most if not all Western establishments are closed on New Year's Day. Most Chinese restaurants lack an updated online menu, but I appreciated that Congee Queen's app had everything listed, and at lower prices than Uber Eats ($45 vs. $54). It probably isn't the cheapest around but it was simple, I didn't need to call in to clogged up phone lines and can schedule for pick up the time I needed it. The user experience of the app isn't great. After I placed my order for schedule pick up at a later time, the app auto prompts that it would be ready in 30mins. Making me call the restaurant immediately to check and they then reassure me that it would be ready for the time I scheduled. I mixed the noodles on top of the lobster to prevent overcooking, though it might appear skimpy in photos, the lobster is all at the bottom. However, the app has some glitches; clicking on offers like the free item with the first purchase didn't work. Besides that, I also ordered sweet and sour chicken and fried turnip cakes. The sweet and sour chicken had steamed up a bit and lost it's crunch for takeout, which I don't think was too preventable (perhaps take off the lid as soon as you get home). Overall it was still a delicious addition!

This cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style tea restaurant) has a good standard, and the portions are generous. I particularly love their ice cream with red bean shaved ice. It's something that I haven't found in many other places in Toronto. 呢間茶餐廳嘅水準不錯,而且份量都多。我特別鍾意佢嘅雪糕紅豆冰,基本上冇喺多倫多其他地方飲過。

So I'm giving them a 4 stars because of the value of what we came for. Otherwise it would be a 3 instead. They have an afternoon tea special that goes from 2-5pm and from like about 20 different items it also comes with a cold drink and price ranges from 11-19$. It's great value and selection is pretty good. Worth it for sure if timing makes sense. The chain is decent in terms of decor. The staff was helpful and nice. No complaints there. Would come back again for the afternoon tea special.

Came here with my family because Congee Wong (CW) was closed for renovations so we thought Congee Queen (CQ) was the next best option. I ordered efu noodles with ginger, green onion, and tiger shrimp; beef ho fun; turnip patties; salted fish fried rice; and crispy chicken with their secret sauce. Compared to CW, CQ was just okay. The servers were nice but we had trouble communicating with some of them as we couldn't speak Canto/Mandarin (e.g. asked for hot sauce but instead got cups of water) but we were fine with this. The portions were good for sharing and it tasted mostly good but there was a lack of protein. The turnip patties also didn't have shrimp and radish like CW. The fried chicken with their secret sauce was good but compared to a previous visit, my sister was suspicious that it wasn't the actual dish even though the servers confirmed it was what we ordered. For a dish with a secret special sauce, the chicken didn't come with any sauce at all! Still flavourful. Cleanliness and service was OK! Conveniently in Centrepoint Mall.

My dad usually comes here because it's more convenient for my sister, so I was ok and it's alright for the quality of the food. The waitresses are friendly! The noodles are crispy & good! I like to come here since the food is good.

This Congee Queen location is excellent. The food is prepared super quickly yet is of high quality. The service is friendly, and the interior is large, modern and clean. It does get a little noisy but that's mainly because of how busy Congee Queen restaurants across Toronto can get. I'd happily come back here again.

My go to is always the fried turnip Pattie's. I was craving them on a gloomy Monday evening and they never disappoint. The house fried rice was a bit bland for my preference.. I would skip this next time. The Cantonese Chowmein is always on point. Congee Queen never lets you down.. it hits the spot when you are in the mood for it!

I often get take out from here so thought I should leave a review. Food here is decent, typical Cantonese style congee restaurant. It's chinese comfort food, nothing spectacular but good for everyday takeout. We used to get the giant Seafood Congee bowl back in the days, always been a must get when dining in with a group. Dishes used to be very economical, inflation seems to have hit in recent years. The place is big and often very busy pre pandemic days. During this covid period, takeout is fast and efficient and seems organized.

A whole lot of food! Seafood Congee, vegetarian fried rice, calamari, lemon chicken, and more

I come down here often with my family because they live in North York area. We always come at dinner time. SERVICE: Decent and kind of a typical service you get at mostly all Chinese restaurants. They are fast and sometimes gets your order all correct, missing an item, or gets an order wrong. Our recent visit was a double birthday celebration 95 years old and 1 year old. Nothing "special" was done by the staff (not that we expected any). FOOD: It's pretty consistent here. Food is good. We typically order calamari (fried squid), congee, fried rice, lemon chicken (my little brother loves this), and beef with vegetables. They've always tasted the same and texture is the same. STARING: So this is one of my pet peeves in restaurants. My 1 year old (one of the birthday celebrants) was not having a good day. She didn't get her nap so she was crying so much if I didn't hold her. Some of the employees were eating right beside our table (not sure why they couldn't eat on the other side but who knows). One of the girls that came our from the washroom stared at my baby and shook her head. Then she went over to that table and said something, the one guy facing me stared at me for a few seconds and shook his head too. He then said something to his peers and they all start laughing. How professional! People judge others all the time, but please don't be so obvious. For all I know they were talking about something that doesn't relate to our table anyway. RECOMMENDATION: The food is good, service is fast, and some employees love to stare even if it's for negative reasons. It's a busy place, but it's huge and doesn't appear to be as busy as the one on Shops on Steeles.

This place is well decorated and was bustling with people at almost all hours (as I been told). We got seated, looked at the menu and ordered. Our food came out fairly fast and everything we ordered was delicious. I've let my friend order for all of us and he picked out 4 entrees. I apologize if the name of the dish is incorrect, I'm trying to recall from days later: Peking duck 5/5: it was very moist and not dry. Flavor was perfect and it was cooked perfectly. Fried turnip: 4/5: well lightly fried and it melted in my mouth. It lacked a bit of flavor but a simple chili oil did the fix. Forgot the name of the noodle dish 3/5: pretty average. Salted squid 4/5: seasoned pretty well and also lightly fried but there was something missing here that I can't pinpoint. Overall a full 4/5 star review. I love Chinese comfort food, I live for it. It made me miss home.

Cockroach

There was a cockroach in the chili oil and when we brought it up to the staff after we consumed the oil and expressed our frustration. The staff said the chili oil is always at the table it must have crawled in there on its own. Not much we can do. Sorry. Replace the oil with a horrible attitude and that was it. No compensation or apologies, management didn't even come handle the situation. Don't come here

Two Assorted BBQ Combo

Most likely the best place I've been to this holiday season. The place was packed, but clean and nicely renovated. We got in within 5 min. As they say: food is fresh when turnover is fast! We went there for brunch mostly craving congee, but ate a lot more. We got the classic Shredded Pork and Gold Preserved Egg congee, beef chow mein, Two Assorted BBQ Combo and Spicy Pepper salt Garoupa Fillet. The congee was great, and so was the roasted duck. The char siu was better than average, and the addition of those sweet beans on the side was interesting. The chow mein, which usually doesn't get too much of my attention, was nicely done. It had a lot of flavor, yet wasn't too salty. My absolute favorite, however, was the fish. It was so tasty, I probably ate half of the dish by myself! The coating was crispy, with a sparkle of salt and pepper that hits the taste buds perfectly. The inside was tender and hot, with no bones. The chopped green onions and red pepper had been cooked just enough to release their fragrance. The veggies added extra flavor, and their tenderness complimented the crisp of the fish. I though about this dish a lot in the days after. I'll definitely get it again in the future - I hope it tastes just as good! Their menu is also very pleasant - very clear and well illustrated!

We went at lunchtime but ended up having a full dinner. The meat and seafood were fresh and plentiful. My favorites were the cowboy ribs, mustard octopus, cold noodles, and the roasted pineapple at the end, so juicy and sweet. We finished with coffee pudding and caramel pudding and the coffee pudding was surprisingly delicious. If you love BBQ, this place is a must try. I really hope they open a spot closer to Markham.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

The noodles were perfectly textured, crunchy, and bouncy. The soup was made according to HK standards - the proper way with dried shrimp flavor. It was rich and strongly flavored that way. According to the HK expert, mom, that is the proper and legit way. 100% approved. The price is right on point for a quick, simple meal. The waitress was straightforward, and the tea is not an extra charge. Just be careful as the tea is super, super hot. The noodle shop is my cup of tea as I'm familiar with places like this. I love it. It is the Chinatown feel. Lots of older folk eating there and not in a rush. They're reading the newspaper or chatting away. So don't be too worried if it's not the cleanest place as everything else more than makes up for it. The food is legit; the environment is legit. Check, and check.

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
