I honestly don't know what's the best restaurant in Chinatown, but this place was kinda empty when we went on a weekday night. We really liked the snow pea leaves, but the fishballs soup was alright. They didn't taste very fresh. I also had pork with wonton soup, but some of the meat was not fully cooked. The soup was not very flavorful either. Service was fine especially since they were not busy.

It was my first time going to this restaurant. And we both ordered rice dishes rather than noodle dishes because we forgot the name of the restaurant is King's "Noodle", lol. So it might be our fault. Whatever, we felt the dishes we ordered were really ... plain. We finished them all just because we were hungry and food in Toronto is pricy... so we were obligated to finish all the food to make our money worth... If I'm as rich as Drake, I would just leave the dishes on the table and leave. Another bad thing is it had many flies when we were in the restaurant. That is another factor that contributed to our unpleasant experience. However, if we had another chance, we'll order noodle dishes

Roast duck & BBQ pork plate (C$16) good, but small portion IMHO

King's Noodle was on the list of Essential Toronto restaurants. They offer Canto cuisine, esp stuff hanging in the window, like roast duck, roast pork and char siu. King's is on Spadina in Chinatown. I ordered the duck & char siu plate. Although the items tasted good, the portion was small for the price IMHO. I had to have some of my travel companion's won ton mein to feel even close to satisfied. Regarding the ambiance, its your typical Chinese restaurant. It wasn't crowded, but there were some older native speakers present. The service was fast & efficient. It was nice they took USD, bc this was our last lunch b4 our flight in the evening. We had run out of C$. Unfortunately, after I returned home I saw a IG clip of Toronto Chinese BBQ places. King's wasn't on the list. However, the places that were had much bigger portions vs King's. Lesson learned: Before you visit a new city, obtain your recs from multiple sources. In addition, do your research.

Sub-standard food for a Chinese restaurant. The only good thing about it is that they cook very fast. The rice dishes are all very bland and tasteless. Seafood Fried Rice is 98% rice and barely has any seafood (only half pieces of very small shrimps and squid, which you could barely taste). The Cod with Sweet Corn on Rice seems to be mostly rice and flour (not much corn). Also bland. The veggies are ok, but still quite oily.

Food was great and staff were nice. CASH ONLY! 1.1 Cad : 1 USD versus the actual conversion rate. At the time we just went "ok" and added a few extra dollars to make sure we included tip..but I wonder if they do this lower conversion to include tip? Shrugs but will come back next time we visit Toronto.

Unfortunately, the food at this restaurant is now too consistently lacklustre for the previous high rating. Both quantity and quality have collapsed. The prices went way up, which is acceptable, but the standards also went way down simultaneously, which is less acceptable.

The Beef Chow Fun was good. It was flavorful but not greasy like some restaurants. The House Chow Mein lacked flavor and bordered on being bland. The noodles were deep fried not pan fried. It had a mixture of shrimp, pork, squid, and veggies. The Cheung Fun wrapped Chinese donut lacked taste and texture. I would not recommend this. The Chinese donut would be great by itself if it were crunchy but it wasn't. The Two Item BBQ was fair. The BBQ Pork was lean and tasted good. It could have been sweeter but that's just my preference. The roast duck was meaty but lacked flavor. It bordered on being gamey as there was not sufficient marinade. The duck sauce was meh. ***Be aware. Staff tagged on a service fee without notifying us. It was also not labeled on the bill. However, when asked, the server was honest that it was a service charge. Very sneaky! We actually left a tip on the table until the server admitted to their underhanded service fee. We only had 3 people in our party. Dirty little hamsters!!!! Please check your bill carefully. They also mopped the floor while several tables were present and eating. This is not a hygienic practice.

I lived in TO for 23 years and King's noodles was my favorite spot. After moving away for 18byears I came back and was excited to eat here. Upon entering I was impressed with the new renovation. It was clean and spacious unlike the good old days. Howver, the food was disappointing. Let's talk about the good food. The rice rolls and chicken rice were delicious. Fried donuts were very good too. Congee was good and had a good texute,, but they added leftover roast pork instead of the pork. It's pork and preserved egg congee, if u add leftover pork, it's definitely not the same. And I hate it when restaurant cut cost by using their leftovers. Wonton were also not that great. It had a thick skin and not enough filling. This place has lost its sparks, just like how every restaurant in Chinatown.

Driving By Spadina ... there's tons of goodies everywhere how can you pick one place when everything and everywhere looks so delicious!! So many authentic asian dishes everywhere as we were in the Mecca of Chinatown Toronto. This place caught our eyes in particular why you may ask? They have their ducks hanging out the window display which is usually what trips me and my husband!!! We also saw lots of locals enjoying their meals here!! So we decided ok that's it that's the one! Service: very quick and efficient.. It was pretty decent I'd say but not over the top friendly. They make you pay Cash only ** which is not the best when you travel they force you to go to their ATM machine if you have no cash. Pretty annoying to say the least. It's not cheap either came down to 60 $ ish for everything. Around 20$ per dish We obviously got some peeking duck and bbq pork To stay a lil healthy we also got some mixed vegetables. We mainly wanted Chop suey, I guess they misunderstood as they gave us a mixture of veggies and not much bean sprouts.. only complaint The chineese donuts where amazingly fresh, airy, and flakyy tasted exactly how I remembered from this one place in Montreal The duck 5+++++++ fresh and deelish it was soo tender and just ready to be devoured I enjoyed it so much definitely recommend!! The BBQ pork was good slightly overcooked but still tons of flavour .. maybe will skip the pork next time Overall, the duck was the highlight and that's what we came here for! Definitely worth trying the duck and the desert bread was SOOOO GOOD Id skip the pork and the veggies but that's your call Cheers

    Wonton noodles soup ($5.25)

Came here on a Saturday night and it was busy but we got a table for three without too much of a wait. I ordered a bowl of wonton noodles in soup, and I was impressed by how cheap it was (only a little more than $5). The noodles themselves are made in house, and they had a delightful springy texture. The wontons were delicate and full of big shrimp pieces and the broth was light and savoury. One of my companions got the braised beef noodle soup with rice noodles and that was really good, I'll probably try that next time. I also got the gailan (Chinese broccoli) and a bowl of pork liver congee paired with youtiao (fried dough stick), which were decent and also reasonably priced. Overall this place is no-frills and the prices are very cheap. Service is no-nonense, but they get the job done. It's not really a place you'd go to for impressing a date, but it's a place I'd recommend for a yummy bowl of noodles for a very good price.

Unpretentious Hong Kong BBQ cafe with large prawn filled wontons, thick slices of juice BBQ pork (charsiu), and succulent roasted duck. My egg noodles were springy and broth was clear and tasty. The beef fried rice noodles were on the greasy and bland side. Cash only as with many of the cafes in this area. ATM machine inside located at the top of the stairs leading to the washrooms.

I waited more than ten years to write a review for this place and am damn glad I got to come back. What made it special was that my friend was in town and taking him was perfect because of the amount of food they give you. The wait can be trying but they get you in and out if you order just the right amount of food. For this run, we had beef chow mein and chicken fried rice. My friend ordered Chicken Congee but it had too much ginger for my taste but I'm sure for anyone else, it's a true hit. I had Tsingtao for the first time in my life and this particular Chinese beer was clutch. The elevation of my choices worked out well for the night and already miss having food from there. I can't wait to bring someone special here and enjoy the busy yet fantastic experience that Chinatown as a whole can produce as this place does.

    Beef brisket chow mein
    Chris C.

I've heard of King's Noodle and I may even have come here before, a long time ago. A friend who lives downtown suggested I meet him there for dinner and it sounded like a great idea. It was busy when we arrived, which is normal for this place, as I understand. We were lucky to get a table almost right away. It looks like the turnover rate is quick so nobody should have to wait long. They have literally hundreds of items on their menu! We could have spent a long time going through the menu but the BBQ meats hanging in the window at the front of the restaurant looked really good so we ordered a combo plate of BBQ duck and crispy roast pork, along with a beef chow mein. The food arrived quickly and steaming hot! The duck and pork looked really good. The chow mein had beef brisket, not the stir-fried beef that we imagined. We didn't specify but that's okay, we like brisket too. The food was delicious! Everything was cooked just right and full of flavour. Great texture on the crispy pork. Rich flavour on the duck. Tender brisket. Yummy! I wouldn't change anything. Great tasting food and fast service!

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this.
