We came here after going to their other restaurant just to compare. I'm happy to say this restaurant is much better than their other restaurant in my opinion. Stir-fried food had more Wok Hei and the meat was marinated and seasoned way better. The service was exceptional for a Chinese restaurant. However, the seating was a little bit cramped. I believe it got recently renovated and the ambiance was a lot nicer compared to their other restaurant as well. We ordered a few of their afternoon stir-fried dishes that was $9.9 and comes with a drink. They were all pretty good with good wok hei and flavor. The only thing I did not like and do not recommend is their Baked Cheese Spaghetti. The sauce is way too thick and it was honesty so bland. The Singaporean stir-fried noodles and their Beef Ho fun was so much better! We also ordered their Grouper Fried Tofu Clay Pot and their Yellow Eel Claypot. Both were so delicious! Visited Keung Kee for the first time in a long time and was pretty satisfied with our meal. Some dishes are better than others, but it's good enough to come back and try dishes to figure that out yourself. I recommend the spicy salt and pepper pork chop, stir fried vegetables, street style rice rolls, and tofu and grouper casserole. The salted fish eggplant dish was lacking in salted fish, and though the claypot rice had a really good crispy rice bottom layer, the spareribs weren't a good cut. Service is great. read more

I was craving for congee tonight, and decided to visit Keung's Restaurant 強記雞粥 at Peachtree Plaza. This place is known for their delicious congee and lots of signature Chinese dishes! We were greeted by the lady at the counter who gestured us to go in and pick our own seat. Our server then promptly brought us kettle of tea and the menus. He was very friendly, courteous, and has great presence! We ordered the minced beef congee, wonton soup, veggie noodles and a plate of Chinese broccoli to share. Everything was delicious, and cravings definitely satisfied. Our server later offered us complimentary desserts at the end of our meal - purple glutinous rice soup :) Thank you for taking such great care of your customers! One of my go to when I'm in the area. A restaurant that offers various Cantonese dishes and soup noodles. I ordered an afternoon tea for take out - beef chow mein and it came with a drink so I got a hot milk tea. There are various drinks to choose from like red bean slush w/ ice cream which I would've gotten if I dined in. The food was great and the portion was great. So sad to give this review because we have loved Keung's for a long time. Had a very bad experience last night. The busboy was obviously new and inexperienced and was being ordered around like crazy. He was told to deliver our food and dripped sauce all over my husband due to unsteady hands. Walked off instead of even acknowledging he messed up. Didn't even give napkins to wipe the stains from my husband's phone, sweater or jeans. We pointed this out to the waitress, who proceeds to lecture the busboy, saying he could be in big trouble if the customer has expensive clothes (umm my husband's phone is the latest technology, he's wearing a Patagonia sweater...guess he looked like an unimportant poor customer). Fine. Next, the waitress switches one dish to a smaller plate to make room for more food. And when she puts the small plate on our table, proceeds to drip sauce over my daughter, who is wearing a white hoodie. WTF!!! We paid (no discount or anything to apologize) and even left a tip but they let us walk out without even a thanks or good night as if we were in the wrong. This was a friends gathering - small foodie gathering We ordered four dishes- stirred fried pork jowl , deep fried wonton , steam chicken with onions and ginger and soup. They were all piping hot and tasty. The chicken was tender and the stirred fried pork jowl was favourful with chives and small shrimps. It's been long overdue since I last dined at Keung's, almost 3 years since COVID period. I have always heard they have good selections for afternoon tea, and you can get "red bean with ice cream" part of your drink choice! For those who aren't familiar with this drink, it consist of red bean chunks, milk/ evaporated milk, and most importantly, the ICE CREAM on top, and is usually considered as an "upgraded" choice of drink for most HK cafe. We ordered the shredded duck rice noodle soup and beef brisket noodle soup. The choices were quite varse for afternoon tea. The beef brisket was tender and full of flavour, and the noodles were cooked al dente with its bouncy texture still intact. The shredded duck rice noodle was quite interesting. I wouldn't say I'm opposing to the flavour, perhaps they got a little heavy handed on the preserved veggie as it was on the sour side for the soup. It has a decent amount of duck meat for the price you're paying. Overall, the price and quality were quite balanced, with each meal costing about $12 for a bowl of noodle soup and drink. Came for a weeknight dinner and food was mediocre. I've dined at the other location at Warden and Steeles multiple times before and that one is always a hit. However, this location definitely did not taste the same/ hit the spot in the same way. Upon arriving, we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table for 3. It was a packed house. The restaurant is quite small but able to fit about 4-5 large tables in there. Service is quick and always attentive. What we got: Hainanese Chicken 2.5/5 - Chicken was silky smooth but the taste just wasn't there. The rice was a little tasteless and didn't really soak in the chicken essence like it's suppose to. It came in a clay pot so the edges on the rice were nice and crispy. Jah Jiang Noodles 3/5 - This is usually my go to dish at any Keung's restaurant. The pork sauce was pretty standard but nothing special. I didn't think it was as tasty as I've had it at other restaurants before. Beef Brisket Curry Rice 3/5 - Curry brisket and rice came separately which was nice that it's not mixed. There's about five pieces of brisket mixed with peppers and onions. Came for afternoon tea which is from 2:30-5pm. You get a drink with meal (eg pineapple slush, grass jelly slush or red slush with ice cream). Food prices are decent, quality can be better. Did an add on for $5 deep fried milk block and I didn't like the taste. Some parts were sour which made me think it is bad, so I couldn't finish the rest. This is my family's favorite Cantonese Restaurant and every time we are visiting family we have to visit Keung. They have so many delicious dishes. Our go to's: shrimp & eggs, HK style seafood chow mein, lo mein noodles that come with the soup and ginger, plain rice noodles (the one the has the peanut hoisin sauce on them, bitter melon with beef in black bean sauce, if we eat there (as opposed to takeout) we get the fresh silken tofu. There's a few tables set up outside for patio dining and from what I could see the number of tables in the centre of the dining area have been decreased for greater spacing between diners. The price of the chicken wings seems to be more than other restaurants but there's also more wings and these were a decent size. At some restaurants the wing are so small and I end up disappointed. The wings were fried wonderfully (crispy and fresh out of the fryer) and so tasty in the sauce. The fish balls weren't like the ones at hotpot. These were more oblong shaped and less dense. The broth was delicious. I wasn't dying of thirst afterwards so I'm going to venture and say that there was minimal if any MSG in it. When plan A fails, you go to plan B. We originally wanted to eat at Nam 2 but the line was too long and we were #hangry so we went next door to this Cantonese restaurant. Their menu is pretty extensive so it was difficult to pick as the portions are more family style/for sharing. We had the jumbo shrimp with sticky rice in lotus leaves. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how big and plentiful the shrimps were. The sticky rice was actually super delicious, perfectly seasoned and fragrant. We also had the beef brisket in hot pot. The beef was well seasoned without being salty and super tender, there were also big chunks of white radish and pieces of bean curds throughout. I would definitely reorder both of these and come back with a bigger squad to try more of their menu! Glad our plan A failed because plan B was just as delicious! read more

Let me start with this, their menu has so much variety, at a reasonably low price. You won't get bored of coming here every week! Their seating is comfortable, and you're not in squishy tables. Came here for a casual lunch and while the initial impression was wondering why the prices were a bit more expensive than other restaurants, that was answered by sheer portion size. First off this menu is more wholesome in dishes, rather than that of a HK cafe style. This is not a HK cafe. We ordered the fried rice noodles with beef and black bean with a side order of turnip cake. When these places arrived at our table, I couldn't believe the size of these things. I came with my significant other, and there was easily enough for four people let alone for the two of us. The dishes also came with orders of milk tea as we got one each; I believe that was a lunch/brunch/afternoon tea special. The dishes tasted good, there was that wok flavor. There was a good amount of black bean sauce on the noodles, the beef was tender, and the bell peppers were nice and crunchy. The turnip cake was flavorful and there was even shrimp in the dish. I should add that Keung's is one of the more clean Chinese restaurants around if that's what you're looking for. Keung's Restaurant is located at Kennedy and Hwy 7, been there forever, I remember going there back in 2000 and the quality was the same and it hasn't changed almost 20 years later. Ordered the salmon congee and beef with egg and rice on the side. Amazing service as always, decent price, they're always happy and have no problem making you feel more comfortable. We asked if we could be moved to a booth when one opened up, and they were very accommodating. Parking is a toughie because it's in an asian mall and driving around there is even worse. So be extremely careful but once you get in the restaurant, you're good. My grandfather used to know the co-owner of this restaurant and they used to have a location in Scarborough, somewhere around McNicoll. But unfortunately, I heard that location closed. We were in a rush and chose meals which could be easily prepared. Some of their specialties are cooked whole duck and meals in hot platters. We ate Chinese broccoli with , oyster sauce, minced pork lo mien (Chinese spaghetti), fried rice sea food platter with ice cream red bean drink. The good: the service was great. All the servers were well versed in the menus. The bad: it was crowded which is always a good sign but we were seated where the front entrance was so we got cold drafts often. Don't sit on that side of the restaurant. The ugly: Due to the location, hard to find parking during most active hours. Tip: Get in early to park. Order lunch specials which are favs! read more

We came for afternoon tea (between 3 and 5). They have free drinks with any meal or side dish. The meals are reasonably priced, but the sides are pricey for what you get. Either way, you get a free drink with each order. The food is basic and simply done, but generously portioned. Our ham in tomato sauce and spaghetti was exactly that, with the ham over cooked (unless you like it crispy) and the spaghetti a short tick past al dente. On the other hand, our bitter melon beef rice had the right amount of bitter melon, and lots of sauce to pour on the rice. My advice - stick with the Chinese options. The drinks skew Chinese, so if red bean doesn't sound to you like a dessert, then you will also not be impressed by grass jelly. The drinks are small, which is understandable since they are free. Less forgivable is that they somehow found the only vanilla ice cream in Toronto that is flavourless. They have a fried milk dessert that I didn't try, but is usually not easy to find. For those with kids, the restaurant is kid friendly. No kids menu, but the portions are eminent shareable and the seating area and washrooms relatively clean. My son devoured the pasta and ham. I guess he likes ham on the crispy side. The ambience is generally nice, but today they had big posters of "Poon Choi", which is a apparently a great dish featuring a big fish head that stares at you. I will try it next time. read more

Here's what I tried and my thoughts: Chef Style Chicken Congee - apparently this is one of the highlighted dishes in this restaurant, so we gave it a shot. I normally don't have congee with chicken, but it was interesting. It felt very simple, healthy and light. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a simple congee. Beef Chow Fun - I wanted this dish since I haven't had it in a long, long time. The dish is somewhat different from what we have here in New York. The noodles were different in terms of type of noodles. It also tasted slightly charred/burnt which was a bit of a throw-off. Sweet Cruller & Dough Cruller - we got both since some of us wanted the dough cruller for the congee and some of us wanted the sweet cruller. Both were fresh and not stale at all. Sweet Deep Fried Crispy Milk Block - my future sister in-law ordered this as a snack/appetizer and it was definitely golden, deep-fried. It had a crunchy and moist, melt-in-your-mouth texture. I wasn't a huge fan about this dish. Plain Rice Noodle Roll - OMG! This was absolutely amazing, better than what we have in New York. The rice noodle roll was moist and just mixed very well with the sesame sauce. Overall, the experience here was better than the Keung's Delight restaurant we went to our first night in Markham. My family and I came here on Canada Day for dinner around 6pm. We were seated right away and our orders were placed. The staff was welcoming and answered our questions. We got the broad egg noodles with veggies and chicken fried rice along with roasted pork and chicken wings. The portions were large enough for our table of 5! AND I had enough to take home (which I ate later that night). The dishes were all good and flavorful. I loved the hot sauce they gave us, it added flavor to all the meals. . mmm delishhhhhhhhh. The noodles were so juicy too! They included tip into the bill but were shocked when we asked for change.. If tip is added onto the bill.... why am I still leaving an extra 15%? 3.5 stars for Keung's! Great choice for dinner with the family - lots of dishes to choose from here. I am a huge fan of their peppered "hot pot" soup with pork bones and veggies (see photo). Other items I tend to order over and over again include their soft shell crab fried rice, pork chop and onions with rice, chicken hot pot rice, and clams in spicy broth. I started drooling the minute it was placed on our table because it smelled amazing! So crispy and perfectly seasoned. It's a must try but just make sure you have a rice along with it since it's considered a side order dish. Slightly on the pricey side for this one but worth it. Crispy Chicken on Rice & Groupa on Rice ($8.95 each) - Black pepper sauce on the chicken and cream sauce for the groupa, both which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not too salty or heavy. However, I did feel like there wasn't enough sauce in proportion to the amount of rice. Asked for more and they were happy to give us a small bowl on the side. Bonus points! They do their baked rice very well and I would highly recommend it. Portions are humongous. We couldn't finish it between 2 people. The drinks are not bad either. I really like the red bean & black jelly drink with icecream. It's great during the summer. Service is decent. They do their job and will get you what you need. I never expect great service from these types of places so as long as they're not overly rude or unaccomodating, I'm not bothered. The prices have increased slightly (at least since July 2015 when I last came) which is a little disappointing but the place is consistently good so it won't stop me from coming back. Don't order the so-called "Chicken Balls with Rice" dish (菜遠雞球飯) from their Afternoon Tea menu. It's a misnomer. There are no chicken balls and instead, it's cheap chicken strips (like the kind you get with noodle soups) in a goop of thick starchy sauce (茨汁).
