Their hand pleated XLB got on my radar a while ago. I am a XLB enthusiast - where there is XLB (no matter how it's good or not) I have to be there to try. Going out to Mississauga is a bit challenge for a resident of Durham region, but I happened to have someone to drop off at the Pearson today. So - there I was! I ordered (take-out): # XLB (Pork) # Pork seafood dumpling (boiled) XLB skin was thicker than I preferred, but had a homey taste to it. Not as delicate, but it kept good amount of soup inside. The taste/integration of soup and meat was average. Though it is not wow at all, if I dine in the restaurant and order this as a side, that would be a great addition to the table. I felt that this ordinary yet homey and genuine XLB somewhat represents my impression of the restaurant . Pork & seafood dumpling was good. The wrapper was tightly sealed, keeping the flavor inside. My dining partner had been here before with a group of people. What they got were good eats at a very reasonable price. With just two of us this time, we weren't able to try as many dishes, but what we did have was delicious.  The menu is provided on an iPad, and there is the option to change languages between Chinese and English. There's quite a lot to scroll through in the menu. Ordering is also done on the iPad. We ordered pork dumplings, XLB (Xiao Long Bao, aka soup dumpling), and chicken wings. I'm not sure if the XLB took a while to make or if they forgot about our order because we finished the other two dishes before this got to our table. read more

My family's go-to Chinese restaurant in Mississauga. Always friendly service whenever we come here and great flavours from the food. The spicy dishes pack a good kick, so it's a good way to test your spice tolerance. My family and I do enjoy China Impressions! The restaurant is located near Golden Square, perfect lunch/dinner spot after some chinese groceries. The restaurant itself is relatively big compared to the ones in the area. Now for the food...We always get the fried beef noodles. It's such a yummy dish full of "wok air" which is important for Chinese food. The dish is flavorful and the noodles are cooked with the perfect chewiness. I also really enjoy the dishes with the preserved vegetables, whether it is with fish or pork/tofu, it's such an appetizing and satisfying dish. If you like wraps, do try their mu shu pork! I recently tried their steamed rice with chicken and mushroom. This dish is quite delicious and loaded with mushroom but make sure you're not in a hurry because this item takes 25+ mins. We came here on a Saturday night (slightly earlier, as they don't take reservations for parties fewer than 6 people) for my mom's birthday, and ordered the set meal priced at $68. Meant to serve 4-6 people, the set includes half a cold steamed chicken with a mala spice as well as ginger sauce, garlic stir fried gai lan (Chinese kale), Peking pork chops, egg yolk fried pumpkin, and a big boiling hot pot with fried fish. We started off with the steamed chicken. It was quite lean and smooth. The spicy numbing sauce with the sesame seeds added a whole depth of flavour which was quite refreshing! We polished this dish off in record time. The gailan came next; it was quite a small and measly portion. The vegetables were coated with oil and were fairly greasy. It wasn't my favourite, but given that it was basically the only green available, we consumed it quickly as well. We barely touched the pork chops and pumpkin, though I did have one piece each. The pork chops had a nice tangy tomatoey flavour, and each piece was nicely fried before being coated in sauce. The pumpkin wasn't my favourite - I found the egg yolk lacked flavour, and the pumpkin wasn't as sweet as I would've liked. The hot pot was great! The fish broth was light but delicious, and the hot soup was warmly welcomed on the cold winter day. It had generous portions of vegetables, including broccoli, mushrooms (straw and enoki), carrots, and more. As the fish had been fried before added to the soup, its skin had an interesting chewy texture. The flesh, when attached to the seasoned skin, was also quite flavourful and delicious. This was my favourite of the night. Overall, not a bad set meal - it feeds plenty, and we had a lot left to take home for another meal. read more

Great (relatively) new place! Think it's the same chefs/owners as Bashu at Hurontario and Eglinton. The seating is spacious, space is well lit with nice chandeliers. I've been there for lunch and dinner and the portions are huge! The other night we went for a casual family dinner and stumbled upon some new favourites. We usually order the pan fried pork chops, but decided to go for the egg yolk crusted one and it did not disappoint! The pork was tender, the topping was well seasoned. I wish I can duplicate it at home! The lemon chicken was juicy and not too sour. The sweet and sour pork was my least favorite as the meat pieces were dry and hard, even with the red sauce all over it. The noodle dish was a hit (it's our staple) and remember to ask for their special hot sauce! Think it's some sort of bean paste hot sauce. The fried rice was colourful and had quite a few shrimps. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I ordered a small hot and sour soup for takeout. As I was drinking the soup, I asked my boyfriend if it tastes like they burnt the soup. I decided to keep eating it and next thing I know, I bite down into a CIGARETTE BUTT (picture for reference). I am DISGUSTED. Sick to my stomach.. I bit into someone else's USED CIGARETTE BUTT and all the juices oozed into my mouth.. that nasty cigarette ash taste is still in my mouth.. I'm surprised this restaurant doesn't have at least a solid 4 star rating in Yelp. It is located in a strip mall in Mississauga. You order via iPads that have photos of each dish and you can switch languages seamlessly mid-order, which worked well for my Chinese / English family. Portions and value are great here. The small size hot and sour soup would be considered a large at many restaurants and served 6 of us 2 portions each. All of the dishes we ordered tasted great, although we didn't venture far off the classics to find a standout. I am definitely looking forward to coming back to try more and to be more adventurous with the chilli dishes. read more

I've been ordering from China Impression for only a short period of time but have so far been impressed by the food. Pork dumplings: taste good and come with the requisite vinegar. If we were eating in the restaurant I believe they would be nice and crispy. Dan dan noodles: my first time ever ordering these noodles but I've always wanted to try them. They were delicious. Special fried rice: yummy and full of seafood and meat. Ma Po tofu: very authentic taste but much oilier than I prefer. And take out portion is 25% smaller than I expected it to be. The restaurant is very quiet and spacious when we came by for dinner on a weekday. They offer iPad ordering service which is great as you can see a photo of what you'll expect to be getting. It is definitely a large menu and everything looks delicious! Lots of spicy Chinese food if you're a big fan. Ordered a spicy chicken pot and a cumin beef. Both were equally appealing and delicious to eat. The cumin beef was slightly underwhelming in cumin flavour in accordance to my taste however. Location/Service: I've been here twice now with my family to try out this new restaurant. Word has it that it is opened by the same owner as Bashu at Hurontario/Eglinton since the menu is very similar and they also take orders via an ipad! I love technology and I love it when restaurants use tech/paperless options to take orders. It allows me to remove things and order dishes at my own pace. It also lets me see the total bill so I know I have enough cash at the end! All restaurants seriously need to adapt to this concept!! This particular restaurant is situated right next to Hawaiian Bakery. To be honest, you wouldn't know that there's a restaurant there unless you heard it from someone. This location has been empty (or at least not restaurant owned) for such a LONG time. The staff there are pleasant. They get things done quickly, whether it be cleaning up the tables or getting enough chairs/plates/chopticks for you. The restaurant is quite big too so there's a lot of space between tables. Food: From the two visits, some of the things we ordered were: 1. Sesame Pancake with Beef ($7.95) - this was alright, it wasn't the best sesame pancake that I ever had. I wouldn't order this again. 2. Mixed beef with Hot sauce ($11.50) - this is an appetizer and it is pretty good. It has a lot of meat and great as a starter. I don't think other places have this kind of dish. 3. Braised beef handmade noodle hot soup ($9.99) - This is probably the best dish of the night. In fact, we loved it so much the first time we went that we ordered it again the second time. It isn't too spicy, and it is a HUGE bowl of handmade noodles that really warms your soul when you eat it in super cold water. I really enjoy this beef brisket bowl. This is also my family's favourite. 4. Sichuan Wonton with Garlic Sauce ($7.99) - This is wayyyy too spicy for my liking. The wontons are small and comes in a puddle of oily spicy sauce. I think the main point of the dish is the chili sauce. My family really liked the dish and used the chili oil for other noodle dishes. If you like spicy food, like those that make your lips and tongue numb, this will for sure hit the spot. 5. Sh-port with sweet Peking sauce ($13.99) - Nothing special about this dish. When I had came to visit for lunch, the place is big and rather spacious. Since it just recently opened, I wouldn't have expected there to be much people eating here anyways. Their menu style is iPad so they do not have any paper menus to look at when you are there. Prices are reasonable and portions are big ... ordered the beef brisket noodle soup for $10 and the size of the bowl was absolutely enormous. Their deep fried mantao bread is also well deep-fried, very nicely done with a golden crisp. All in all, I am willing to try it out again of the different dishes they have later. Due to the unfavourable reviews, I was a bit nervous coming here for an office function, but now I'm not sure the bad reviews are founded. Similar to the unfounded bad reviews of Foodie North. Sure, there were a coupla dishes that were more misses than hits, but I didn't have a problem with the staff or majority of their food. Restaurant was surprisingly less busy than most Chinese restaurants are for a weekday lunch service. Maybe only half of the restaurant was occupied! Highlights included: Square Taro Cakes fried with Curry (not greasy), Sliced Chicken with Cumin/Coriander, & although I'm not really a fan of Cold Free Range Chicken (boiled), I really liked the chilli oil that came on the side. The Fried Fish that was presented on top of a portable gas burner was different...in a good way too! I do not know the actual names of dishes 'cause a Chinese-speaking coworker ordered. This restaurant featured some dishes that I have never had: Cumin, Chilli Oil, & other dishes that can be spicier than the standard Cantonese palate. Food is more regional cooking/Northern China fare. It'll probably be more beneficial if you go with someone who reads Chinese/speaks Mandarin! read more

We also ordered the curry chow fun, and it was the worst chow fun I had. The tofu fish dish was terrible as well. The mushroom tasted very dated, past expiration and the fish they put into the dish was bony and very fishy. This was by far the worst dining experience in so far as Chinese food is concerned in Mississauga. The restaurant is brightly lit and clean so it looks tempting. Super insane sized portions! From stirfry noodles, to fried rice, to dumplings, to congee, to noodle soups, and small eats... Everything was worth the money in my opinion. We ordered a congee in small and the small bowl was big enough for at least 4-5 people and was around $6-8 a bowl. The noodle soup we ordered consisted of fish and veggies that were a bit sour which was a nice kick. As well, we got chive and pork dumplings which were juicy and flavourful and the perfect appetizer. We had to take most of it to go. Everything was decently priced and there's so much more I would return back to try. There are a few tables who ordered a hot pot style item from the menu. They would bring a gas range over to your table and a large pot with whatever you selected from the menu. It's a true China style restaurant. With dumplings, noodles , and seafood too. For some reason it was super cold inside today. However, after we sat down, more and more customers came in and it was a full house on a Sunday lunch. All of them Chinese. And many are older generation, which shows you this restaurant is the real deal. Menu is on an iPad with Chinese and English so that was pretty cool. At first, I was taken back at $8-9 noodle bowls. But when it arrived the portion was HUGE. One bowl can fees 2 male adults or 3 average eaters. The down part was the Wonton noodles that we picked, didn't have any veggies in them. Normally I would see some lettuce or something. We ordered the chicken Dumpling, but the skin was too thick and it seemed tough. Reheated from day old dumplings? It's a relatively new restaurant in this area. What makes it stand out from the other chinese restaurants around is the iPad ordering (much like at AYCE). The decor is pretty modern and it almost seems like it's catering to the younger population around here (with the iPad menus and writing your own name on a waitlist at the door instead of getting a number at the front). I came here on a Saturday afternoon before the lunch rush arrived and service was pretty slow in comparison to other places. The prices are more than some smaller restaurants in the Golden Square nearby but not too bad. Majority of the service is in Mandarin though. I think if you enjoy Northern Chinese food this would be good for you. I don't think their Cantonese dishes are as good. As a CBC, it's nice to see images next to their corresponding name (in chinese and english) because I am able to try something new instead of just ordering the usual dishes I'd get (if I wasn't with family). read more

Go to Sichuan place in Mississauga. Food is good and service is fast. Some favourites are beef/jalapeño hot plate, Peking duck, fu qi fei pian, beef noodle soup to name a few. Restaurant is nice and clean. Please note that this restaurant is catered towards Sichuan cuisine. It does have dumplings and other region's food but it is not their specialty. You order via iPad and the menu has pictures which makes it easy to order your food. They have a sister restaurant called Ba Shu Ren Jia and I believe it is by the same owner. read more

I am giving 4 stars because most of the items on the menu are delicious but some are not and others are inconsistent. The hot and sour soup has been inconsistent. The ma po tofu is terrible. The eggplant (see picture) is amazing. Tofu with seafood is very bland. The tiger shrimp with chilli is spicy and delicious. Lots of gigantic shrimps made my tongue tingle. Bullfrog legs are succulent and taste much better than chicken. Bullfrog legs in soy sauce with onions came in a big wok. Melt in your mouth delicious but too much onions for my liking. The bullfrog legs with chilli is very spicy and fantastic. When it arrived, I could smell the chilli coating from across the table. Worst service ever ! We ordered through the convenience of using an I pad in less than 5 min. After waiting, 1/2 an hour we ask the waitress for our food she said it will be ready in 5min.
