HUGE portions. I came with 4 people and ordered 4 dishes. The dishes are massive - basically party platter size. Food was very good but quite oily. Stand out dish was the jajangmyeon because it was so flavourful. Very close to York University Keele campus. If you want standard Korean - Chinese food and value for money this is the place to go !
This place was recommended by my friend E. since I told him about how much my family loved Sunny Dragon, so I came with my mom tonight. I liked how refreshing and addicting the dishes are (we got Pache Yooringi & small regular jajang myun); comparing to sunny dragon, they are a lot less "heavy." I'm a big fan, but I think my mom still prefers sunny a bit more. It seems to be a bit pricer than sunny too, but I don't mind at all, esp considering I feel they put a lot of work into using fresh ingredients. I also want to note that the yooringi here is quite special - it seems that the chief mixed crushed peanuts in the batter so it is extra crispy. However make sure you tell them if you have allergies! The vibe is nice and the service is super friendly.
Great place for Korean-Chinese comfort food! The restaurant is actually pretty quiet on a Friday night, but it also helps the booths probably noise-dampen groups inside. The staff pass by often to make sure you're taken care of, and there is also a doorbell for service. Their food portions are all pretty big and generous. The spice is really toned down, opting more for savory flavours. They have weekday daily specials as well where you can get some dishes at a discount. Jjajangmyun is always a favourite at these places and would definitely recommend! The noodles are perfectly chewy and it comes with a side of even more sauce. Their Friday special large portion pachae yooringi (fried chicken cutlets) was absolutely massive and delicious! Definitely worth the price. Their palbochae (babaocai or "8 treasure vegetables") is delicious and only uses a few dried red peppers for spice, so even those who don't normally eat spicy foods and definitely enjoy it as well. Would definitely recommend coming here! It's great comfort food and in a cozy environment. Food is all a pretty good price and large portions. Please be mindful of their opening hours though, they tend to close earlier than expected by 9pm.
I think we found our new favourite Chinese Korean restaurant. We came because I was craving black bean noodles and fried pork, and they make it so good here. I like that the portions are generous, with more than enough to share between two people. Looking forward to trying the other items on the menu, as all our neighbouring tables items looked delicious also.
Food We got the fried pork with sweet and tangy sauce small, seafood soup with rice and black bean noodles regular size. Portions were huge especially the fried pork, but the crisp was non existence. Not sure what the hype is. The black bean noodle was seasoned if you tasted the sauce alone but more light with mixed with noodles. The only highlight was the seafood spicy soup, nice seasoned and had generous portions of seafood. Service Came by 45 mins before closing and 15 mins before last call at 8:30. Waitress still seated us but was rushed into ordering. Good thing I checked the menu beforehand and knew exactly what I wanted. Tea, and banchan came out right away which was nice. Food was also quick, less than 15 mins! But halfway thru eating one waitress just handed the payment terminal without saying a word lol. Definitely do not come after 8pm, not a good meal if you're rushed. I'd come back to try the fried chicken with soy sauce.
We had a craving for Korean "Chung-sik" (Korean style Chinese food). I haven't reviewed this restaurant but recall being here a while ago. Clean. Polite. Good food. Loud K-Pop. Jjampong was VERY GOOD. Lots of mussels, scored squid and shrimps. Noodles perfectly cooked. Broth not salty (good) but garlicky with tons of red chili powder (gochu-garu) as it should be. We ordered a plate of mul-mandu (shui jiaozi) which were addictive! Ended up bringing them home as the jjampong portions were huge. Great place, excellent food, sleek surroundings, music too loud and borderline intrusive. The food did not disappoint. Efficient service.
Came here with my family to try out their jajangmyeon that I saw online that looked so good. Among our table, we shared a plate of dumplings, family jajang for 2 and rajogi bap. My family thought it was okay but I thought it was better than average. Good potion, food came hot and the rajogi had a nice touch of spice to it. Nice atmosphere and service was standard. Nothing to complain about!
This place had spacious layout and lots of seating. We were greeted and seated quickly by the staff, and their service was fast as well. The jajangmyeon had noodles covered in a thick black bean sauce that has a hint of savoury and slightly sweet flavour. The black bean sauce had caramelized onions as well. Typically jajangmyeons are known to be packed with strong umami flavour but I must say that the umami flavour in this dish was not as particularly strong as what I had hoped for. The gun mandu had a nice balance of crisp and chewy to them. The filling was juicy and light. Overall, its a nice place for a big group.
We only tried a few dishes here but the fried chicken and ma-po tofu didn't disappoint! The Korean fried chicken was just the right amount of crispiness (very subjective I know), and it comes with a healthy dose of sliced Jalapeños and other garnish. The ma-po tofu is definitely different from its Szechuan-style counterpart, but it was properly balanced and was surprisingly good. We were recommend this place by friends and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!
Beijing Sung is one of the few hybrid Korean Chinese restaurants in the GTA. However, the food isn't true Chinese food, but more tailored to Korean consumers. As I stepped in, most of the customers are Korean, and even the server default greeted and served me in Korean. The menu is in Korean and even for the English menu, the dishes aren't actually translated in English but a romanization of the Korean language. It's tricky to know what we're ordering since we don't know Korean. Instead, we just referenced photos or ordered the classics we know e.g. Jjajangmyeon, jjamppong. I've been here twice and both times it's super tasty. This most recent visit, we ordered a set menu B2 and thought it came with Korean Fried Chicken from what it looks like on the website. But it turns out it's sweet and sour shrimp! A little let down, but we still enjoyed it. Korean food is a bit more on the premium price point, but you taste the quality and it's time consuming if we were to cut all these veggies so finely ourself. I just wish they ACTUALLY had a translated English menu to describe what each dish actually is.
I was introduced to Korean-Chinese fusion years ago when I didn't know this was a thing. Now, Beijing Sung is one of the better places to try this here. The cuisine is a mix of Chinese dishes developed by those immigrants to Korea. It's apparently very popular there! I made sure to order Black Bean Sauce Noodles (Jjajang Myun), in family-sized portion. As a distinct dish, this version was fairly thick with grounded meat & onions melded together in savoury black bean sauce. Too bad it was clumpy when we unpacked takeout. I also made sure not to splatter & stain my shirt based on past experience with this dish! We paired it to Korean Fried Chicken w/ Spicy Sweet Soy Sauce (Yooringi). This is their calling card here. The large order of fried chicken thighs did not disappoint: a crunchy crispy batter surrounding tender protein. It was served on lettuce, along with radish. Chicken was better without slightly the spicy sauce. No complaints for takeout. We waited a short while due to a busy lunch hour. Despite being located in a remote plaza, Beijing Sung had a good customer base comprising of young folks. Korean-Chinese food bring distinct flavours that seem to attract both crowds.
I've been here a number of times for both dining in and takeout over the past 4-5 years and I'd rate it 5 stars simply because it is consistently good and the price is right for the value they offer. It's not fine dining, it's more comfort food. This place serves good "Chinese style" Korean food. It's my go to place in the GTA for jjajjangmyun, jjampong, and yooringi. If you're coming here for the first time, I'd recommend those three classic dishes. Though their other dishes are quite good too, just probably not as popular. Portions are incredibly generous. My all time favourite is always the yooringi (crispy deep fried chicken breast in a sweet and spicy sauce on a bed of ice berg lettuce and Korean hot peppers). The chicken is always juicy, the fried batter is always crispy and light, the sauce is always a perfect sweet-savoury combo, the hot peppers add a perfect kick, and the lettuce adds a really nice freshness / crunch to each bite. The "small" size is not small at all. It is larger than what one person would eat on their own if that was all they were eating, or a good sized dish to share amongst 3-4 people if everyone else has their own main. Though you might still have leftovers. We always have leftovers when we eat here!

A perfect spot for a family meal. There's plenty of seating, though it definitely starts getting busy around dinner time. The portions here are massive and very reasonably priced, so come hungry. The jap tang had a generous amount of seafood, all cooked perfectly, and the mapo tofu was silky soft, nutty, and had just the right amount of heat. The tangsuyuk portion was huge, with pork that stayed crispy on the outside while still juicy inside. The sweet and sour sauce was ridiculously good. The jjajangmyeon was much larger than we expected and honestly could have fed up to six people. The noodles had a perfect chewy texture, and the sauce was rich and deeply umami without feeling greasy at all. We also appreciated the added shrimp and scallops in the sauce, which made it feel even more satisfying. We easily left with enough leftovers for two full meals. read more
We've been going to Beijing Sung for years but the flavours have all changed. The jjamppong was too salty and the jjajangmyun had no flavour. The chicken tangsuyook was also a miss and the batter wasn't crispy at all. The sauce was OK. The service is always friendly and fast there which we appreciate. But we honestly don't know if this was a one-off thing or if the quality of their food has actually gone down. The restaurant itself is large and spacious which was perfect for our large family gatherings. read more
I ordered RAJOYOUK( Korean Chinese fusion spicy pork) with rice $15.99 then upgraded size with extra $4 ($19.99 plus tax) With $20 It was such a high quality meal and a huge portion size that could make into 2.5 meals. I liked that this dish had tons of veggies such as water chestnut, shitake, bok choy, broccoli, carrots & zucchini. Service was great as well! Rajoyouk(라조육) is my new favorite Chinese Korean dish now. I loved it cause they were not SWEET AT ALL unlike other korean Chinese food. read more

Affordable and yummy food! The service is okay they could be nicer I highly reccomend the samsun-gan-jjajang. I wouldn't reccomend their Tangsuyouk it was too hard :( would come back to try new things though !! Ambiance the seating are so spacey and cute but I got takeout! read more

With fond memories of its opening, I visited Beijing Sung again for a quick dinner, wanting to re-experience the Chinese-Korean flavours. Gan Jjajang: I immediately ordered my go-to dish. Unfortunately, this time around, it was just passable. After mixing in the stir-fried black bean sauce into the plain noodles, I dug in. The noodles and black bean sauce did not mix well, even after stirring them quite a bit. The rich taste of the black bean sauce was there, it just did not hit the mark for me. More notably, the ingredients, particularly the onions, tasted old. Sampling the other dishes that we ordered, I detected a similar issue--everything tasted a bit stale. It was disappointing to say the least. On the positive side, the service was prompt, and servers were ready and willing to assist, serving our meals quickly. The establishment maintained a good level of cleanliness, which is always appreciated. Despite the efficiency and cleanliness, I can't get over the lack of freshness that brought the overall experience down. I may return, but not any time soon. read more

My sister suggested going to Beijing Sung for their Korean-Chinese fusion and I was excited to try their black bean noodles and sweet and spicy fried chicken. My family and I shared the family jjajang (for 2) which are noodles with black bean sauce and seafood. There was a good amount of sauce and the noodles did taste good but not anything super special compared to other jajangmyeon I had before. I also got to try some of the rajoki bap which included rice with fried chicken thighs with spicy sweet and sour sauce. It was delicious! The sauce was a bit too thick but I found it was very flavourful. Loved the dried chillies they put in too - there was definitely a kick. read more
We came to this place on a whim as we were in the area. It seems like we made the right choice as it was a bustling place filled with many families dining. It seemed like most patrons were Korean, so that leads me to believe this place should be pretty authentic! We got the deluxe jjajangmyun and the jamppong. The deluxe add on for the jjajangmyun was an extra $3 and it came with a generous pile of jalapeños as well as a fried egg served on top of the noodles. While the fried egg was good I'm not sure that I really needed all the jalapeños so I might just get the regular version next time. The jjajangmyun was rich and as delicious. The jamppong was good as well, filled with a generous amount of veggies and seafood in a briny and spicy soup. Overall the good was great and the price was very reasonable as well for how much food you get. read more

The two main Korean-Chinese food that is universal among us K-Peeps is JjiaJangMyun (black bean noodle) and JjamBong (spicy seafood noodle). Most places you go with have these moderately priced and also have TangSooYeok (sweet and sour pork - or a variant). Beijing Sung is one of the latest restaurants offering the Noods. Even the name a mix of Chinese and Korean. I happen to be there during work and decided on trying it out. It was recommended by another restaurant owner and I'm a sucker for references. The JjiaJangMyun was expected. Lots of onions, some bits of meats and nothing too inspiring. Their sauce is a bit thicker than other places which is nice. The portion on it was pretty good but they do charge a little more here anyway. I did like the JjamBong. The noodles were just chewy enough but again, they had the minimal requirements of mussels, squid bits and onions. The broth also was decent and for those who don't like way too spicy, you might want to avoid this as it was a little more off the chart than others. It's OK for the K-peeps that grew up on it but even I found it a bit adventurous half way through it. The place is new, large, and has spacious seating. It would be a go to place near Keele and Steeles but I don't see myself trekking there if I was starting from home. A 3.5 Star place. Cheers. read more

Stopped by Beijing Sung! I heard they're pretty own for their Korean dishes so I had to try it... First we got Yooringi: fried chicken with chilli peppers. This was soooooo good. I don't know what sauce they used but it was so refreshing and light. It really complimented the friedness. The chicken was perfectly crispy. Wish more places served this! But this is what makes this spot special Also can you believe this is a small size....I was blown away...the portions here are huge! Second: Jjampong...obviously!! I love spicy seafood soup. I get it at every Korean restaurant I love this one especially because the portion is so big compared to what I get at other restaurants I APPROVE!! read more

Very good comfort Korean/Chinese food! Jjampong was absolutely delicious and the yooringi has a really good taste with the jalapeños and sweet sauce. Fried mandu was crunchy and fresh. All three items goes really well with a cold beer. Highly recommend. Price is also reasonable $65 tax and tip in for everything. read more
My family went here for Korean-Chinese cuisine. It was off hours but there were still quite a few people there. We didn't have to wait and we were promptly seated. We had: Sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk) Black sauce with noodles (jajangmyeon) Spicy mussel and vegetables with noodles (jampong) All of what I said in my previous post stands, but I honestly think they improved from last time! Their tangsuyuk especially was so good- just the right amount of crispiness and abundance of sauce. As well, even for a small, three people couldn't finish it all- it's a lot! Korean-Chinese Food is something I don't crave often. But I have been watching too much Korean Cooking drama lately and all these Jajangmyeon eating really make me what a bowl! Beijing Sung is one of these "authentic" Korean Chinese Cuisine 中華料理 in Toronto. Ganjjajjang (乾炸醬; stir fried black bean sauce with noodles) Kkanpunggi (干烹雞, fried chicken with sweet, sour and spicy sauce) Noodle was nice and chewy. The sauce is rich and gooey. And I do think Korean really perfected fried chicken. Service is fast and friendly. read more

A friend chose this place for dinner and I am so happy we discovered this place! By the name of the place, I had assumed it was a Chinese restaurant but turned out to be a Korean restaurant. Their menu has a lot of traditional Korean dishes, but I was surprised by the "fried chicken" dishes as it's not what I am typically used to. They look more like pieces of chicken, battered and fried. I am more use to the Korean Fried Chicken that are in bigger pieces. Regardless, they were tasty! [Jjamppong] - A spicy seafood noodle soup! This was the highlight of our night! It was so packed with seafood flavour in the broth, a little too spicy for me (I have a very low spice tolerance) but it was so addicting that I couldn't stop myself. The perfect spice amount for my husband (he has a very high spice tolerance). Highly highly recommend this dish if you can handle your spice, for those that can't I recommend sharing it with someone who can because trust me you don't want to miss out on the amazing flavours of this dish! Probably the best Korean seafood soup in Canada! [Family Jjang for 4] - This was a huge portion and honestly feds more than 4 as we had a group of 8, but also because we ordered other dishes to share. The dish itself didn't stand out too much for us though. [Tangsuyouk] - Fried pork with a sweet & sour sauce, I was not a huge fan of this dish as I found the pork to be a little dry and tough. [Kkanppungi] - Fried Chicken with spicy sweet & sour sauce. Like I mentioned earlier, not the fried chicken I am use to. This was still good and packed with flavours and a good kick of spice but I still prefer a big piece of thigh or drumstick for my fried chicken rather than smaller bite size pieces. Overall, the food was good, but if I had to go again I would probably only order the soup and maybe the chicken. They were also fairly busy when we went on a weekend at around 7pm and had to wait about 20 minutes before being seated. Service was also a little bit slow but they were busy. read more

I work around the corner from this place and never saw it before. We found them online and decided to give them a try based on the reviews. WOW The only word to say Service was amazing. Food was even better. Full of flavour and fresh! And the portion sizes are HUGE A small dish is more than our for 1.5 people We ordered 3 small dishes and had soup and dumplings and took the left overs to the office and 2 more people ate with food to spare and bellies FULL Food came fast Food was HOT It was fresh And such amazing value Take a look at our pics and you'll see it was an amazing value for $70 tax and tip included I will make this a regular place from now on. So much variety to choose from. We told the server we never visited before and she guided us with such care. She even told ya we ordered way too much but we didn't believe her. And she was right. You can easily get away with $15 a person for lunch and have an amazing meal. Wish they had a box option with 2 or 3 items in it for $20 as I would do that every time. Go with a small group of 4-5 people and you will have a huge variety of amazing food. They're Korean and serve a fusion Chinese style and it is just so good. 6 hours later and I am still full and feel content. No dinner for me today. Am stuffed!!! read more

Ever since Kum Kang San closed, I have been searching for a place that does a proper Seafood Jjamppong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup). Although many Korean restaurants offer the dish, I have found them lacking in flavour especially their broth and the amount of shrimp and mussels they provide. We came across this restaurant when we were in the area and decided to give it a try. I was hopeful that this restaurant could be the one as the name of the restaurant implies, they focus on Jjamppong and Jjajangmyun (Black Bean Noodles). The place is located in an industrial plaza along Steeles. There's parking but could be a bit limited depending on the time of day. The restaurant is spacious with a decent amount of seating including some private rooms. The washrooms are in the smaller size but they are clean. Service was good but they tend to disappear once food arrives. We came early evening on a Friday and we were promptly seated. We ordered quickly as we knew what we wanted. They only offer Kimchi and the Daikon and onions for banchan. I ordered the Seafood Jjamppong and my wife ordered the Hongap Jjamppong Bap (Rice instead of noodles plus you get egg on it). The food came really quickly and the portions were really generous. They also provided with a generous portions of mussels but not too much shrimps. Unfortunately, the broth was in the sweeter side instead of being spicy. We ordered the regular Jjajangmyun ($6)for take out and the sauce was overly sweet too. I would rate it at 3.5* but was disappointed on the dishes especially the Jjamppong. My search for the perfect Jjamppong continues in the GTA. #10 of 2018 read more

Went to this restaurant as it was a restaurant nearby and we were all hungry. It was quite a pleasant surprise how busy this restaurant was even at 4pm, the time we were there. It is fairly big and when we got the food, then realized why it busy because the food tasted good and the price was fair. Nice restaurant to check out if you are around that area. read more

I came here on a weeknight and was surprised to see it fairly packed. I'm unsure if they take reservations but my friend and I followed the system and wrote our names down, and waited for the next available table. To our luck, it didn't take more than 20 minutes. I would still suggest arriving early as I've heard it can get much busier. We ordered 1) Black Bean Noodles with beef and 2) Spicy and sweet soy sauce with fried chicken Food 4/5 - I was craving black bean noodles and this definitely satisfied the craving . Portions were generous and we ended up taking about 1/4 of the chicken and noodles home. This is why I love Asian food! - Black bean noodles - I liked the consistency of the noodles; they resembled a cross between your typical Italian pasta and ramen. It's somewhat hard to describe but once you mix it with the sauce, it doesn't matter anymore because of how good it tastes! The sauce was potent, filling, and became a beautiful glaze over the strands of noodles after mixing. - Fried chicken - I saw pictures of this on Instagram and wanted to give it a shot. The chicken sat on top of a pool of what seemed to be a blend of soy sauce, and perhaps some spices. I liked how the sauce was a light liquid as opposed to a thick paste that you usually get with fried chicken. It was more like a light dipping sauce, which is easier to control. My only complaint was their batter. Some pieces had chunks of what seemed to look (and taste/feel) like gelatine. My friend said it was probably cornstarch that was not thoroughly mixed. It wasn't a pleasant experience trying to figure out whether I was encountering chicken fat or cornstarch. - We had some pickled vegetables and kimchi - can't complain about these palette cleansers! Service 5/5 - Servers were super sweet and knowledgeable. They explained the most popular dishes on the menu and wanted to ensure what we were ordering aligned with our tastebuds. read more
