A perfect spot for a family meal. There's plenty of seating, though it definitely starts getting busy around dinner time. The portions here are massive and very reasonably priced, so come hungry. The jap tang had a generous amount of seafood, all cooked perfectly, and the mapo tofu was silky soft, nutty, and had just the right amount of heat. The tangsuyuk portion was huge, with pork that stayed crispy on the outside while still juicy inside. The sweet and sour sauce was ridiculously good. The jjajangmyeon was much larger than we expected and honestly could have fed up to six people. The noodles had a perfect chewy texture, and the sauce was rich and deeply umami without feeling greasy at all. We've been going to Beijing Sung for years but the flavours have all changed. The jjamppong was too salty and the jjajangmyun had no flavour. The chicken tangsuyook was also a miss and the batter wasn't crispy at all. The sauce was OK. The service is always friendly and fast there which we appreciate. But we honestly don't know if this was a one-off thing or if the quality of their food has actually gone down. This place was recommended by my friend E. since I told him about how much my family loved Sunny Dragon, so I came with my mom tonight. I liked how refreshing and addicting the dishes are (we got Pache Yooringi & small regular jajang myun); comparing to sunny dragon, they are a lot less "heavy." I'm a big fan, but I think my mom still prefers sunny a bit more. It seems to be a bit pricer than sunny too, but I don't mind at all, esp considering I feel they put a lot of work into using fresh ingredients. I also want to note that the yooringi here is quite special - it seems that the chief mixed crushed peanuts in the batter so it is extra crispy. However make sure you tell them if you have allergies! Great place for Korean-Chinese comfort food! The restaurant is actually pretty quiet on a Friday night, but it also helps the booths probably noise-dampen groups inside. The staff pass by often to make sure you're taken care of, and there is also a doorbell for service. Their food portions are all pretty big and generous. The spice is really toned down, opting more for savory flavours. They have weekday daily specials as well where you can get some dishes at a discount. Jjajangmyun is always a favourite at these places and would definitely recommend! The noodles are perfectly chewy and it comes with a side of even more sauce. Their Friday special large portion pachae yooringi (fried chicken cutlets) was absolutely massive and delicious! Definitely worth the price. Their palbochae (babaocai or "8 treasure vegetables") is delicious and only uses a few dried red peppers for spice, so even those who don't normally eat spicy foods and definitely enjoy it as well. Would definitely recommend coming here! It's great comfort food and in a cozy environment. Food is all a pretty good price and large portions. The only highlight was the seafood spicy soup, nice seasoned and had generous portions of seafood. Service Came by 45 mins before closing and 15 mins before last call at 8:30. Waitress still seated us but was rushed into ordering. Good thing I checked the menu beforehand and knew exactly what I wanted. Tea, and banchan came out right away which was nice. Food was also quick, less than 15 mins! But halfway thru eating one waitress just handed the payment terminal without saying a word lol. We had a craving for Korean "Chung-sik" (Korean style Chinese food). I haven't reviewed this restaurant but recall being here a while ago. Clean. Polite. Good food. Loud K-Pop. Jjampong was VERY GOOD. Lots of mussels, scored squid and shrimps. Noodles perfectly cooked. Broth not salty (good) but garlicky with tons of red chili powder (gochu-garu) as it should be. We ordered a plate of mul-mandu (shui jiaozi) which were addictive! Ended up bringing them home as the jjampong portions were huge. The jajangmyeon had noodles covered in a thick black bean sauce that has a hint of savoury and slightly sweet flavour. The black bean sauce had caramelized onions as well. Beijing Sung is one of the few hybrid Korean Chinese restaurants in the GTA. However, the food isn't true Chinese food, but more tailored to Korean consumers. As I stepped in, most of the customers are Korean, and even the server default greeted and served me in Korean. The menu is in Korean and even for the English menu, the dishes aren't actually translated in English but a romanization of the Korean language. It's tricky to know what we're ordering since we don't know Korean. Instead, we just referenced photos or ordered the classics we know e.g. Jjajangmyeon, jjamppong. I've been here twice and both times it's super tasty. This most recent visit, we ordered a set menu B2 and thought it came with Korean Fried Chicken from what it looks like on the website. But it turns out it's sweet and sour shrimp! A little let down, but we still enjoyed it. Korean food is a bit more on the premium price point, but you taste the quality and it's time consuming if we were to cut all these veggies so finely ourself. I was introduced to Korean-Chinese fusion years ago when I didn't know this was a thing. Now, Beijing Sung is one of the better places to try this here. The cuisine is a mix of Chinese dishes developed by those immigrants to Korea. It's apparently very popular there! I made sure to order Black Bean Sauce Noodles (Jjajang Myun), in family-sized portion. As a distinct dish, this version was fairly thick with grounded meat & onions melded together in savoury black bean sauce. Too bad it was clumpy when we unpacked takeout. I also made sure not to splatter & stain my shirt based on past experience with this dish! We paired it to Korean Fried Chicken w/ Spicy Sweet Soy Sauce (Yooringi). This is their calling card here. The large order of fried chicken thighs did not disappoint: a crunchy crispy batter surrounding tender protein. It was served on lettuce, along with radish. Chicken was better without slightly the spicy sauce. No complaints for takeout. We waited a short while due to a busy lunch hour. I've been here a number of times for both dining in and takeout over the past 4-5 years and I'd rate it 5 stars simply because it is consistently good and the price is right for the value they offer. It's not fine dining, it's more comfort food. This place serves good "Chinese style" Korean food. It's my go to place in the GTA for jjajjangmyun, jjampong, and yooringi. If you're coming here for the first time, I'd recommend those three classic dishes. Though their other dishes are quite good too, just probably not as popular. Portions are incredibly generous. My all time favourite is always the yooringi (crispy deep fried chicken breast in a sweet and spicy sauce on a bed of ice berg lettuce and Korean hot peppers). The chicken is always juicy, the fried batter is always crispy and light, the sauce is always a perfect sweet-savoury combo, the hot peppers add a perfect kick, and the lettuce adds a really nice freshness / crunch to each bite. The "small" size is not small at all. It is larger than what one person would eat on their own if that was all they were eating, or a good sized dish to share amongst 3-4 people if everyone else has their own main. With fond memories of its opening, I visited Beijing Sung again for a quick dinner, wanting to re-experience the Chinese-Korean flavours. Gan Jjajang: I immediately ordered my go-to dish. Unfortunately, this time around, it was just passable. After mixing in the stir-fried black bean sauce into the plain noodles, I dug in. The noodles and black bean sauce did not mix well, even after stirring them quite a bit. The rich taste of the black bean sauce was there, it just did not hit the mark for me. More notably, the ingredients, particularly the onions, tasted old. Sampling the other dishes that we ordered, I detected a similar issue--everything tasted a bit stale. It was disappointing to say the least. On the positive side, the service was prompt, and servers were ready and willing to assist, serving our meals quickly. The establishment maintained a good level of cleanliness, which is always appreciated. Despite the efficiency and cleanliness, I can't get over the lack of freshness that brought the overall experience down. I may return, but not any time soon. read more

There was a good amount of sauce and the noodles did taste good but not anything super special compared to other jajangmyeon I had before. We came to this place on a whim as we were in the area. It seems like we made the right choice as it was a bustling place filled with many families dining. It seemed like most patrons were Korean, so that leads me to believe this place should be pretty authentic! We got the deluxe jjajangmyun and the jamppong. The deluxe add on for the jjajangmyun was an extra $3 and it came with a generous pile of jalapeños as well as a fried egg served on top of the noodles. While the fried egg was good I'm not sure that I really needed all the jalapeños so I might just get the regular version next time. The jjajangmyun was rich and as delicious. The jamppong was good as well, filled with a generous amount of veggies and seafood in a briny and spicy soup. Our family arrived an hour before closing and we ordered our food and when the plates came out, they looked inedible. not only was the presentation bad but the chicken was burnt and the sauce was extremely salty (sweet and spicy). the noodles for the jjajangmyun was overcooked and the meat or seafood was non existent. The two main Korean-Chinese food that is universal among us K-Peeps is JjiaJangMyun (black bean noodle) and JjamBong (spicy seafood noodle). Most places you go with have these moderately priced and also have TangSooYeok (sweet and sour pork - or a variant). Beijing Sung is one of the latest restaurants offering the Noods. Even the name a mix of Chinese and Korean. I happen to be there during work and decided on trying it out. It was recommended by another restaurant owner and I'm a sucker for references. The JjiaJangMyun was expected. Lots of onions, some bits of meats and nothing too inspiring. Their sauce is a bit thicker than other places which is nice. The portion on it was pretty good but they do charge a little more here anyway. I did like the JjamBong. The noodles were just chewy enough but again, they had the minimal requirements of mussels, squid bits and onions. The broth also was decent and for those who don't like way too spicy, you might want to avoid this as it was a little more off the chart than others. It's OK for the K-peeps that grew up on it but even I found it a bit adventurous half way through it. The place is new, large, and has spacious seating. It would be a go to place near Keele and Steeles but I don't see myself trekking there if I was starting from home. A 3.5 Star place. Cheers. read more

I don't know what sauce they used but it was so refreshing and light. It really complimented the friedness. The chicken was perfectly crispy. Wish more places served this! But this is what makes this spot special Also can you believe this is a small size....I was blown away...the portions here are huge! Second: Jjampong...obviously!! I love spicy seafood soup. My family went here for Korean-Chinese cuisine. It was off hours but there were still quite a few people there. We didn't have to wait and we were promptly seated. A friend chose this place for dinner and I am so happy we discovered this place! By the name of the place, I had assumed it was a Chinese restaurant but turned out to be a Korean restaurant. Their menu has a lot of traditional Korean dishes, but I was surprised by the "fried chicken" dishes as it's not what I am typically used to. They look more like pieces of chicken, battered and fried. I am more use to the Korean Fried Chicken that are in bigger pieces. Regardless, they were tasty! [Jjamppong] - A spicy seafood noodle soup! This was the highlight of our night! It was so packed with seafood flavour in the broth, a little too spicy for me (I have a very low spice tolerance) but it was so addicting that I couldn't stop myself. The perfect spice amount for my husband (he has a very high spice tolerance). Highly highly recommend this dish if you can handle your spice, for those that can't I recommend sharing it with someone who can because trust me you don't want to miss out on the amazing flavours of this dish! Probably the best Korean seafood soup in Canada! [Family Jjang for 4] - This was a huge portion and honestly feds more than 4 as we had a group of 8, but also because we ordered other dishes to share. And the portion sizes are HUGE A small dish is more than our for 1.5 people We ordered 3 small dishes and had soup and dumplings and took the left overs to the office and 2 more people ate with food to spare and bellies FULL Food came fast Food was HOT It was fresh And such amazing value Take a look at our pics and you'll see it was an amazing value for $70 tax and tip included I will make this a regular place from now on. So much variety to choose from. We told the server we never visited before and she guided us with such care. She even told ya we ordered way too much but we didn't believe her. And she was right. Ever since Kum Kang San closed, I have been searching for a place that does a proper Seafood Jjamppong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup). Although many Korean restaurants offer the dish, I have found them lacking in flavour especially their broth and the amount of shrimp and mussels they provide. We came across this restaurant when we were in the area and decided to give it a try. I was hopeful that this restaurant could be the one as the name of the restaurant implies, they focus on Jjamppong and Jjajangmyun (Black Bean Noodles). The place is located in an industrial plaza along Steeles. There's parking but could be a bit limited depending on the time of day. The restaurant is spacious with a decent amount of seating including some private rooms. The washrooms are in the smaller size but they are clean. Service was good but they tend to disappear once food arrives. We came early evening on a Friday and we were promptly seated. We ordered quickly as we knew what we wanted. They only offer Kimchi and the Daikon and onions for banchan. I ordered the Seafood Jjamppong and my wife ordered the Hongap Jjamppong Bap (Rice instead of noodles plus you get egg on it). The food came really quickly and the portions were really generous. They also provided with a generous portions of mussels but not too much shrimps. Unfortunately, the broth was in the sweeter side instead of being spicy. We ordered the regular Jjajangmyun ($6)for take out and the sauce was overly sweet too. My entire family had stomach pain and diarrhea after having lunch at this restaurant. This was on a Sunday and it was busy and looked pretty clean and we ordered jajangmyun, chicken tangsuyuk and kampungi. It was hours after when we all started to get stomach pain and had diarrhea. I'm unsure if they take reservations but my friend and I followed the system and wrote our names down, and waited for the next available table. To our luck, it didn't take more than 20 minutes. The sauce was potent, filling, and became a beautiful glaze over the strands of noodles after mixing. - Fried chicken - I saw pictures of this on Instagram and wanted to give it a shot. The chicken sat on top of a pool of what seemed to be a blend of soy sauce, and perhaps some spices. I liked how the sauce was a light liquid as opposed to a thick paste that you usually get with fried chicken. It was more like a light dipping sauce, which is easier to control. My only complaint was their batter. Some pieces had chunks of what seemed to look (and taste/feel) like gelatine. My friend said it was probably cornstarch that was not thoroughly mixed.
