Kosam is a Korean restaurant situated in a dense cluster of restaurant outlets and condominiums. There is only street parking in surrounding areas or you can park in the garage next door. I recommend parking at the residential streets about 1 block west of Yonge St. It's free parking after 6 pm. The restaurant was very busy and luckily my brother got a reservation for 7pm. We ordered the following: H6. TTEOK GALBI JUNG SIK $20.99 - Grilled minced Korean style short rib marinated in soy sauce. Served on a sizzling plate with a cracked egg, rice cake, and cabbage. F1. Kosam fried chicken $20.99 - crispy boneless fried chicken thighs. B3. DOL SOT KORYO BIBIMBAP $19.99 - Koryo bimbimbap served in traditional Korean hot stone bowl B4 DOL SOT NAH MUL BIBIMBAP $19.99 - vegetarian DOL SOT KORYO BIBIMBAP A2. PA JEON (SEAFOOD & GREEN ONION PANCAKE) $19.99 - Korean style pancake made with shrimps, oysters, squids and green onions, etc. The bibimbap and dupbap came out first. You would think the PA JEON pancake would come first since it's an appetizer. I had to wait for an extra 15 minutes before my Kosam fried chicken would come out. The server said they only have one deep fryer, and they are very busy. Getting my fried chicken and pancake order when my family is almost finished eating was disappointing. It looks like the kitchen could not keep up with the volume of orders. Pancake was mostly green onions and not much seafood. I did see some pieces of squid but no shrimps or oysters. The pancake needed seasoning. The soy sauce provided helped offset the blandness of the pancake. My wife enjoyed the minced kalbi rib, which was like a burger steak. The dish was well executed with a cracked egg, rice, and veggies on a sizzling plate. Overall experience the food is decent, and some minor adjustments in the kitchen to ensure appetizers come out earlier and to get orders out in a reasonable amount of time. Please make sure the you give more seafood in your pancake. I would give them another try and hopefully see some improvements.

As far as the food goes here, it is quite average. The bibimbap was okay, it could have been more flavourful and it was a bit pricey (around $18). The side dishes were also fine, nothing spectacular. Inside it was spacious and clean. The service was good and our food came quite quickly.

A friend and I randomly stopped in, enjoyed our food, but was not wowed. Would go back if in the area again.

I was searching for some Korean restaurants uptown with patios and came across KoSam and their pretty extensive menu so we decided to come here. I got the kimchi and pork stew and shared dukbokki and green apple soju with my friend. I appreciate that Kosam has plentiful side dishes and many are different than what I've had at other restaurants (e.g. sliced cabbage alongside a sesame(?)-like sauce, a pickled green vegetable, and marinated bok choy) alongside with the more traditional side dishes (i.e. pickled cucumber, pickled radish). I was excited to try the kimchi and pork stew since it's one of my most favourite Korean dishes. However, I was let down. The flavour wasn't as strong and flavourful as I would have liked and the kimchi was not as fermented. It didn't have that strong sour kimchi quality which I look for in kimchi stew! Considering the broth they used is beef, I was also expecting a richer soup as well. It came with some mushrooms and an egg which was different and that improved the dish. I also appreciated that there was a decent amount of kimchi and tofu. For dukbokki, it also wasn't as flavourful but the rice cakes were chewy and hot. It also came with one hard boiled egg and a few slices of fish cake. The service here is much better than other Korean restaurants I've been to and they check up on you pretty often. They can also split the bill with no problem. Since they're known for their samyetang, that would be the only other dish I would try if I were to drop by again.

Located along busy Yonge street, with lots of restaurants choices, one has to find street parking. Thank goodness we found one behind their place along Beecroft street. The interior design is modern and open. The servers all are wearing a red and white crewneck top which was nice to see. I liked it. Service was good! The menu is on the pricier side for a Korean restaurant. It did come with six side dishes which was nice. No traditional kimchi though. I ordered the soon tofu with beef dumplings. The tofu was soft and I liked it. The dumplings were not over cooked but there were only 3 for a $16 meal. Really?? I didn't get my $$ worth. The soup base had the right spice and presentation was good too. Oh, my stream rice was not hot at all. My partner had the bibimbap and he said it was pretty good but it could use a lot more beef on top of it. There are plenty of Korean restaurants to try along Yonge street so I'm not sure if I'll be going back.

First time at Ko Sam, would give it a 3.5! I think this is a good spot to grab Korean food with friends. I got the Dol Sot Bulgogi Dup Bap which was good. It wasn't the best I ever had but the bulgogi itself was flavourful and yummy! They also offer mạnh side dishes. The service was okay too!

Came here upon a Korean friend's recommendation. They are famous for their samgyetang (Korean chicken ginseng soup). I ordered the yang gom tang which consists of cow intestines, beef brisket, egg and potato noodles with a beef bone based broth (spicy) it was delicious! Super flavorful, tolerable spicy (I love spice), generous amounts of cow intestines, beef and served with a bowl of rice. It was delicious, we also ordered Korean fried chicken and it was crispy, tender and it came with spicy mayo. We also ordered a beef soon tofu soup and it was good, nothing special, still delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming. No free parking as they are situated on the main road (yonge street) however, there is paid street parking.

This place is my go to spot for groups of 4 or more. We eat family style by sharing all the dishes and their food doesn't disappoint. The samyetang is really good. I've only ever had it before at their leslie location. The chicken is tender and the dish is comforting and healthful. The ginseng flavour isn't offensively strong either. The kimchi fried rice is bomb! Flavorful with a hint of cheesiness. The fried chicken is good too, eat it before it gets cold! The seafood pancake is the best I've had. Not too doughy, thin and crispy. Reminds me of the chinese style green onion pancake. I haven't had a bad meal here and the staff always make it a great experience. Super polite and attentive. They all speak perfect english if you were wondering.

Amazing Korean food after a very long time. The service was very good and they were very helpful in accommodating special requests like making vegetarian tteokbokki without fish balls.

H4: Hot Stone Kimchi Fried Rice.
    Kevin C.

Great portions at an acceptable price range (medium). I had their Hot Stone Kimchi Fried Rice (H4) and shared the Kosam Fried Chicken (F1) with friends. I absolutely recommend the Fried Chicken + beer. The chicken was boneless, tender, juicy and perfect with the sauce. You definitely should share the chicken between 2-4 people or you'd grow tired of it. The Kimchi Fried Rice was delicious, but was a bit repetitive over time. It only had an egg and broccoli in it. But that's what the side dishes are for right? The portion was big though, definitely worth the price. The side dishes were great, especially the potatoes. Although I think they can be more generous with the potatoes. They literally give us 1 piece per person and we had to ask for refills again many times. I wish they had Napa Cabbage Kimchi (you'd think this is almost essential) as side dishes. I guess the variety of other side dishes makes up for this.

Came across this place by accident when googling a different Korean restaurant in the area. I ended up booking this one instead and so glad I did! They have the cutest patio ever, it's covered and has string lights. The service was truly great! The devises made sure to check up on us frequently. The food was really good, we liked all of our dishes. I had bibimbap and it was delicious. I also highly recommend seafood omelette. Surprisingly delicious, especially with beer! I'm so glad I've discovered this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Korean food!

    B3 - $16 - DOL SOT KORYO BIBIMBAP
    Andrei A.

FOOD: 2/5 My impression of this restaurant is limited by the quality of their Bi Bim Bap which was subpar. The minced meat was bland and unappetizing. The Bi Bim Bap itself lacked in flavour and at $16, it's too expensive IMHO. There are better options available in the area. This was my first and last trip to this restaurant. SERVICE: 5/5 Very good service.

Good Korea food with variety. Their signature is the Korean ginseng soup at $19.95 which is a whole small chicken with stuffed purple rice in the middle, very healthy and tasty. Can easily be shared with two people. They have lots of bibimbap, stew and side dishes. All the food here is pretty good. The restaurant is very clean and nice environment. Only down side is it's a bit pricey for what you get in terms of quantity. Usually a tofu stew (soondubu jigae) is $10-12. Here that charge $15-18. It's lot pricier for the same quantity and similar quality.
