Came for dinner at around ~6 on a weeknight and was able to quickly snag a free table! Food was pretty good and I think they do a great fusion menu of Japanese / Mexican, offering mains like sushi and tacos. For starters, we had the Takoyaki, followed by mains of the Red Dragon Roll and Shrimp Tacos. The fish tasted fresh and we liked the seasoning on the shrimp! Lots of other options depending on the type of roll you may want and various proteins for your tacos. The food came out quickly and I love how unique the interior is, with various popular anime posters on the walls throughout the restaurant. I came here on a Sunday evening for an early dinner and the place was already full. They have a QR code at the entrance to sign up for the waitlist. They forgot to turn the waitlist on, so it was showing an error. The food is just ok. Tataki was bland - it looks great but wish I skipped it. Rainbow roll and ladybug rolls were decent but didn't satisfy my sushi craving. The soft shell crab taco was the best and worth it. I dropped a star due to service. The place gets busy because it's not a big restaurant and they pack so many tables that it feels too crowded. The waiters can't properly navigate through with plates in their hand. At the end of my dinner, the waitress dropped a big pile of ginger on me and the floor when she was removing the empty plate from the table next to us. The lunch specials are very well priced. Everything was very tasty. The guacamole had large chunks of avocado mixed in which is my personal preference, and the miso soup was very large (not the typical small bowls you get at other restaurants). I met friends for a late lunch on Saturday (since they didn't open until 3pm) and ordered one taco, one sushi roll, and beef gyoza. The Gochujang Barbacoa taco (shredded beef) was *delicious,* but I did wish the gochujang was much spicier. They have a good selection of drinks and I got the Chum Churum Fresh soju. Get there early if you want to get a table right away. We were there right when it opened and it shortly filled up. For the food we ordered: Bulgogi beef taco - this came with 3 pieces and for some reason I thought it would've been more of an Asian inspired taco as in the shell is a deep fry nori. This was just okay, nothing special to be honest. Lobster grande roll -this one was really thick with so much rice, it tasted alright in my opinion but nothing too special. Spicy salmon pressed sushi - I liked this the most! I personally like Aburi sushi (torched) and the salmon basically melted in my mouth. I visited The Haam during Summerlicious ($35 menu) and it was well worth the drive downtown. It was a three course meal, with an app, a main of two tacos and your choice of sushi roll, and dessert. It was A LOT of food for the price! It's a pretty small place so sometimes you'll have to wait to be seated. I chose to have the tuna ceviche and it was a great start. Tangy and well portioned. I also had a try of all the other apps (each person ordered a different one in my friend group) and my favourite was actually the pineapple salsa as it was a unique flavour. For my tacos, I chose to upgrade ($3 extra) to the crab claw option (but unfortunately I can't remember the name of the roll I chose). The tacos were packed, flavourful, and really filling. And the sushi was well made and really good as well. I went with the oreo churros for dessert. They were really sweet, especially when you dip them in the sauce they have - I could only eat two of the four. Overall, the Summerlicious menu was such a good deal. Another couple arrived shortly after and waited behind me. When the waitress became available, she completely ignored me and walked right past me to seat the couple instead! Loved this little random place I chose. I had no idea it was so popular and busy! But when you walk in and look at the food options and literally this myriad of combinations that blow your mind.... This spot... straight fire. I was staying next door to this sushi restaurant and noticed it right away after finding them on Yelp. A fellow Yelp Elite in Columbus, Ohio left them a great review so I was sold. I trusted his opinion. I loved how creamy the croquettes were and quite literally melt in your mouth. The okonomi sauce was the perfect addition. Swung by recently when I was in the area for a musical. The Haam has been on my food bucket list for a while so I had to give it a try! We got: - Creamy korokke: Delicious and fresh out the fryer, light and airy. 9/10 - Panko soft shell crab: Amazing. Crunchy and lots of flavour with some red chilli pepper garnish. Comes with guacamole (it could have used an extra squeeze of lime and onions) which was a great combo as it cut through the oiliness of the deep fried crab. 10/10 - Volcano fiesta roll: Flavour and texture was great. It had unconventional fried potato garnish that gave it a little crunch with each bite. However, I found the pieces were too big, to the point where it was just about to fall apart. 8/10 - Lobster tacos: This was on their winter special menu at only $9 a piece. I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole lobster tail in each taco, which makes it an amazing value for the price. Fixings were great, like an elevated baja fish taco. 10/10 - Bulgogi taco: Sweet and well-seasoned, but we ate this after the lobster tacos and it didn't stand out nearly as much. The sweetness of the beef didn't mingle as well with the other toppings, I think I would go with a more traditional taco next time I'm here. 6/10 - Gochujang barbacoa: Meat was juicy and spicy--reminds me of birria taco! Honestly, I used to rave about this place. But yesterday's experience was a huge let down. The food was still tasty. We ordered a shrimp and scallop ceviche, jalopenos Karrage, the salmon pressed sushi and a spider roll. The only dish we had qualms about was the spider roll - it wasn't tight enough and the contents kept falling out. The experience initially started off enjoyable. We arrived well before closing time. Probably around 930/945. After receiving our first dish at 10 at around 1020 our server asked if we were finished our meal and we said no, she then continued to move stuff off of our table - making us feel that they were in a rush to get us out. I have worked in hospitality and although clearing dishes is an act of service when a guests says they are not finished you should leave the plates as they are. With food still on the table at around 1020 we were asked if we could settle the bill. We were both annoyed as it gave the impression that they wanted us out of there and fast. The kicker is, is that the servers were having a staff meal. If you are not in a rush to leave you should let your guests continue their experience. Also the restaurant closes at 11, don't make your guests feel like they are inconveniencing you especially when the restaurant is not even closed yet. I would understand if it was past closing hours but not during operating hours. This is a big no no. This left a really bad taste in my mouth and is enough for me not to want to ever come back. read more
