It had been a long time since we'd been out for sushi, so I figured it was the perfect time to finally give Sushi Run a try. We showed up for dinner and were quickly shown to a semi-private room near the back. The ambiance was right on point and the service was friendly and helpful. We decided to start with the Mushroom Balls ("Fried mushroom balls stuffed with shrimp, tofu and garlic"). It's an interesting item that wouldn't really categorize as a complete success. The flavor is nice, but the problem here is that the mushrooms give the whole thing a kind of watery feel that's not the best. Anyway, we came for sushi, so we ordered the 29 pcs Sushi & Maki Platter ("Assorted sushi 9 pcs, california roll 6 pcs, spicy salmon roll 6 pcs, dynamite roll 8 pcs"). First of all, the presentation is terrific. It was such a novelty to be eating freshly made sushi off an actual platter. And it's all really well made and very tasty. There wasn't a bad bite to be had, honestly. To close out the meal, we decided to share the Black Sesame Japanese Ice Cream. It's not great, honestly. The flavor is fine but it was extremely icy, as though it was either very old or had defrosted one too many times. I ate a couple of bites before I threw in the towel. A family owned business that is run by a very lovely family! Came here on the weekend to try a new sushi spot we haven't been to before. We were greeted with open arms and sat into a booth instead of a table. They took our order and didn't disturb us at all during the meal. There is also a "ring" button to call the server at each table, which is really nice! The food was AMAZING. Very light, not too salty and perfectly balanced. The quality of the fish was superb. We ordered takeout through Uber eats and the order was filled quickly. The tempura shrimp stayed crispy and the dragon rolls were very fresh with lots of toppings and fillings. Next time, I would order directly from the restaurant and pickup, as the prices are cheaper. read more

I've had better sushi in larger restaurants in Toronto. Not the authentic Japanese sushi but maybe that's the best they can do.

Pros: High quality food for good price. Great value when you get the boat! Cons: - Pretty small restaurant, not great for large groups. (Over 10 will be next to impossible) - only street parking Went here for dinner with 8 people. We made reservations which ended up a good thing as the whole restaurant likely can seat about 30 people. Atmosphere: (3.5 stars) The restaurant is def not fancy, and more a take out place. They connected 4 tables to seat us 8, with only a few tables left in the place for other customers. They do have a few private booths which looked cool ( Japanese style walls around them), but they can fit max 4 people. Service: (4 stars) The waitress was friend and politely but nothing extra. When asked she did note that tip was not included in the bill. (Props to that) Food: (5 stars) We got 4 miso soup(5 stars). 2$ each, standard AYCE size. 2 orders of spring rolls (4 stars) pretty small, and good. Nothing special. We got 2 orders of beef gyoza with the Yelp promo (5 stars). Crispy and the meat had delicious spices in it. Sushi pizza (5 stars) - I had it a few times before at all you can eat places and it was horrible. However, here I found it delicious. It was on the expensive side compared to other appetizers. $9 Party size sashimi (5+ stars), sushi and maki plater (see pictures). It was fantastic. Really large pieces of sashimi. With the above we were all full, and surprised that the bill came so cheap compared to AYCE. (It was 240 with tax before tip for 8 people with 4 beers, and 3 drinks.) Will def come here again over AYCE if there are more than 4 people. read more

Instead of throwing it out I kept the food as evidence. Bad. Badder. Baddest. This is the way I'm describing a restaurant so bad, I want to rate it a zero. If you follow my reviews, you know that I rarely rate 1 and rarely rate 5 in any of my reviews so it either has to be really bad or really good if it ends up being a 1 or 5. Called beforehand and asked them if they had parking for customers. They said, "yes, we will show you when you come". There are people (staff of theirs) parked in the spots and no place for the customers to park.. considering we were the only ones in there, it's hard to believe all the spots were taken. Anyways, we wanted to go here, so we paid for parking... Walking inside, it took forever to get seated. This is unacceptable. It's not busy, I've worked in the food industry when I was younger... you should always be doing something especially working for a small restaurant like that... We finally get seated and I use my Yelp check-in offer, my girlfriend does the same - we used it last time, too - this time the girl claims that it's one per order. We had two orders, the promotion does not state we can't both use it or has any limitations on it... in addition to that, we've been there before and have used both of our Yelp offers before. Anyways now disappointed, the booth wasn't tidied up too much, she asked us what we wanted to drink... I ordered an apple juice, and my girlfriend got hot water (this took like 20 minutes to get to us) so going back to being the only people in there, this is unacceptable as a restaurant! Also no refillable fountain drinks, they're only canned drinks. I had the salmon lover combo and my girlfriend had udon noodles. Tasted average. We got our Yelp offer free edamame, but I didn't get my ice cream. Salads were drenched in so much dressing it was unbelievable and it was a really small portion. My girlfriends beef udon had like no beef in it.... This restaurant is skimming from their repeat customers. Shame on them. But bringing the bill, even before we asked for it, and that was really quick, it didn't leave us wanting to come there again (which is what every business should do). And by the end, as if there could be anything to make it worse, they give us 1 candy with the bill for 2 of us. This was my third time here. I do not plan on coming back again. This was a very bad experience. My boyfriend and I drove over 30 mins to get here for an early dinner. We were told on the phone before coming that there is free parking available in the back, however there was none when we got there. When we got there we didn't see any staff member except the chef who did not greet us. There were no other customers in the restaurant. Service was very slow. We were waiting very long just for drinks to come (even though there were no other customers). There is a free appetizer or dessert for checking in on yelp. This includes edamame, Gyoza or ice cream. This coupon does not list any restrictions (see pictures). My boyfriend is a yelper too and checked in to the restaurant on yelp and got the coupon as well. However, they did not let us both use the coupon - they stated it was "one per team". The coupon does not state this anywhere and I found this to be very unfair of them to impose unstated conditions. I ordered the udon noodle soup with beef and my boyfriend got the salmon sushi combo. The udon noodles were very small and there was barely any beef. I was still hungry after eating it. For the price, you'd expect more. Furthermore, our booth was unclean with garbage on the floor (see photos). It felt as if they were rushing us out the door (even though they weren't busy). When the check came, they gave one mint for two people - I have never seen a restaurant do that before. My first two visits to this restaurant were much better and I don't know what happened since then. read more

This restaurant is own by a very nice Korean lady, had a great time talking to her during my time here. I was flying solo for a night in Toronto, and I was craving some seafood, the restaurant I had planned to go was closed for the following party. Decided to settle with some Sushi and glad I did. The food here is delicious, super big plus on able to make the sushi roll with brown rice. I don't understand why so many places would give me a hard time for that. Ordered one of the Sushi, Sashimi and Maki Combo, the sushi was very good and with the brown rice, it was perfect. All the people that work at this restaurant are very friendly, they keep checking up on me and asked if there is anything else I need. A cute little sushi place Iriana and I stopped at this summer! We saw elephants so we had to stop. Very very unique menu that all tastes great. What sets it apart from other sushi places I've seen is they have this chart with different sauces and toppings for sushi that explain the flavour and situation in which you would use them in. Love love love this place! My family and I were visiting Toronto from Los Angeles and staying at an air bnb near Sushi Run. We wanted a casual japanese place for dinner and Sushi Run surpassed our expectations. Extremely friendly service, the owner was so sweet! The food was excellent and fresh and there were so many unique options, like the sashimi tacos! I really loved the huge roll selection as well. The banana tempura was outstanding as the owner rolls the bananas in cinnamon before frying and they also were in a filo type dough rather than the typical tempura style. Loved the private table area we had as well. If i were a local this would definitely be my number one spot. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the fish. read more

The ratings of Sushi Run are very high and I can understand why. The family that runs Sushi Run is adorably wonderful. When we arrived, the owner and her family was there doing everything... all with a beaming smile. I wouldn't think a normal person would have that type of infectious smile but here she was, at work and greeting everyone the same way. This place is best described as your neighbourhood spot. Sushi Run is a petite place that is more homey than your normal spot. It has 2 cute little wooden rooms to one side of the narrow space but there are more than enough tables for at least 30 people. I will say they do a crazy amount of take out... I think when we walked in, there was 4 platters and 2 bags ready to be picked up and this continued throughout the time we were there. Service is the best part of this place... just infectiously happy and sincere in every way possible. Not only did they greet us happily the moment we stepped into the place but also they checked in multiple times to make sure we have everything we needed and helped clear the plates. One cute thing was that the owner create these tiny little extra gifts for every table... a sauce container filled with chocolate eggs for Easter. Completely unnecessary but adorably thoughtful. Small things do make a difference. As for the menu, it's quite large with a number of special rolls. My suggestion is to grab a platter if you can... it's not only a large variety, it's a good value. For 5 people, the large maki, sushi, and sashimi platter with 3 appetizers was more than enough food. We barely finished. I do appreciate the thoughtful amuse bouche of chilled sweet potato noodles in a sesame soya sauce. Beef Gyoza - This was a yelp check in gift. I would say these are run of the mill beef gyoza. Fried a bit but could have been a bit more as it wasn't as crispy as I would have liked it. The sauce helped to kick up the flavour. 3.5/5 Agedashi Tofu - Large pieces of silken tofu but the coating wasn't as crispy as I've had at other places. 3.5/5 Spicy Sushi Pizza - This was good. Super crispy base topped with chopped spicy salmon, avocado, and tobiko. It was served super fresh just out of the fryer. You have creamy, crunchy, spicy, and salty... all in a delicious bite. Definitely a winner for apps. 4/5 Sushi, Sashimi, and Maki roll platter - Large variety and nothing seemed skimped on. All of the sashimi and sushi pieces were cut in a good size. Maki rolls all done nicely, clean smooth rolls with lots of filling, and nice flavours. Spicy mayo just makes everything great lol. I didnt find they used too much rice as filler so this was good too. 4/5 Another nice last thoughtful touch was that they gave the birthday girl a HUGE helping of 2 large ice cream scoops to help celebrate her day. She loved it. Again... small gestures can make a big difference. She loves Japanese food now. You can't help but love the place because of the people here. Genuine happy service like this is not common. When it's coupled with good food and very reasonable prices, it's a no brainer when you're deciding a local neighbourhood spot for dinner. read more

Such a great place. We went twice actually because of the incredible quality of sushi, sashimi, etc. The location is so groovy inside. They have small rooms to dine in which makes everything super intimate and really enhances the experience. They have some excellent platter combos for great prices. They're not harsh about substitutions either which is so relieving. Had lots of appetisers which all tested delicious - especially the seaweed salad. The service was also excellent. This is by far one of the best sushi places in the GTA. Not only is the food amazing, but the hospitality shown by the owner, her daughter, and the staff is incomparable. The owner is a sweet lady and she remembers each customer and always makes it a point to make you feel appreciated with a personal touch with her sushi arrangements. We've been here a couple times now and have enjoyed our meals both times. They have a large selection of rolls and offer nice cuts of fish with their nigiri sushi. The last time we tried a few different kinds of rolls, and while not all of them were to our liking, it wasn't because of poor quality, it was just that the sauce wasn't our favourite. The staff is always very polite and helpful, and they have brought out a small portion of a sweet glass noodle dish, on the house, both times we were there. Came here on a Friday evening around 6 before the dinner rush and was glad I did. This place is quite small but they do have lots of tables and booths to accommodate the hungry sushi lovers, but when you're an amazing sushi restaurant with great service, expect it to be busy! The moment I checked in you get a choice of a free ice cream, gyoza, or edamame. I obviously chose the gyoza! The sushi was amazing, very fresh and super flavourful. My boyfriend and I got the Volcano roll, Black Dragon roll, Spider roll,Salmon Tataki, Butterfish sashimi, and eel sashimi. My first bite of food I cried (in a good way) they were all so delicious! I went on a Friday night to pick up my take-out order. There were not too many diners but they seemed busy with other take-out orders. I don't think I'd want to dine in as it's a small narrow restaurant with little room to move around. Anyway, the fish was fresh but the rolls were extremely small and the sushi was cut very thin. I actually had some soup about two hours later as I had gotten hungry. In my opinion, there are better sushi restaurants in South Etobicoke so I wouldn't necessarily rush to come back. read more

I came here for lunch and it was such a cute and cozy spot. They have some lunch combos that are priced a bit high ($11-13) for the quality of sushi that they bring. The service was good and super friendly. It's owned by an elderly Korean couple and they're so nice! The food was good and they serve a traditional dish cheap-jae (glass noodles) as an appetizer. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't have other appetizers but it's more of a Japanese restaurant than a Korean/ Japanese fusion restaurant. read more
