First time coming to this location, but I've been to the RH location. This location is definitely more spacious, brighter and less congested as the RH location. There are also "private" rooms for a party of 4 or more. The restaurant was already more than half full by 6pm on a Saturday, so suggest coming earlier if you can. There are lots of parking available. We ordered the bibimbap, hangover soup and seafood pancake. The soup and rice didn't take a long time but the seafood pancake definitely took more than 20 mins. Everything came in big portions especially the soup! I had to pack the rest and it was pretty much a meal for the next two days lol The pancake was crispy and they gave lots of seafood. Definitely worth ordering! The bibimbap was good, lots of toppings.

Dolsot Bibimbap (vegetarian, with fried egg) - comes with seaweed soup and banchan

Their bibimbaps are excellent. Compared to the bibimbap in other Korean restaurants, the ones at Bap Zip are tastier and in bigger portion (come in bigger bowl). They have both cold and dolsot (hot stone pot) bibimbap, including varieties that are not commonly found in other Korean restaurants (such as Wild Vegetables Bibimbap [which comes with Soybean Paste Stew], Soy Shrimps Bibimbap, Tartare Bibimbap, Eggplant Dolsot Bibimbap, and Spicy Squid Dolsot Bibimbap). I had the traditional Dolsot Bibimbap which was vegetarian (rice, fried egg, spinach, zucchini, radish, red cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, carrot, bracken, bean sprouts). It came hot in the large hot stone pot, and contained more veggies compared to other bibimbaps I've had. Service was friendly and they were able to accommodate my request to substitute the kimchi with extra spinach. The bibimbap came with 3 banchan (small side dishes) and a small bowl of seaweed soup (which was perfect to eat with the rice). Other items on the menu were gukbap (soupy rice porridge with different ingredients), soft tofu / soybean paste stews, and cold noodles in broth with hard-boiled eggs (which would be perfect for hot summer days). The ambience in the restaurant was casual; it was bright and clean inside, and they had gender-neutral restroom. There were ample parking spaces in the plaza, and also walking distance to bus stops.

Bap.Zip is in the Pat Thornhill Market plaza, and offers plenty of free parking. Post-movie starvation led us to this haven where generous portions met our ravenous appetites. My eggplant bibimbap (I had to pack half to go!) and my partner's spicy squid one were culinary hugs in a stone bowl, kept piping hot. Great mix of textures and flavours. Don't forget to scrape off the crispy rice at the bottom -- it's extra scrumptious. We keep coming here for a reason. The ambiance is clean and inviting, though the tables are very close together so you might get to know your neighbours a bit. Service is a little lacking. It might take a while to catch the server's attention or pay your bill. But hey, good things come to those who wait. Quick note: The usual road/entrance into the plaza is under construction -- follow the detour signs through Morgan Ave.

3.5 This place specialises in a bibimbaps and they have a nice and big selection. We got the beef bulgogi and spicy pork and both were very good. Lots of toppings and there was a decent amount of rice and crispy rice bottom. Had to take off some stars because their other menu items were not as good sadly. We ordered the seafood pancake to share (not pictured) and it was very doughy and dry. It did have quite a bit of squid and shrimp toppings but the base was very dense. Definitely not my favourite place to get the seafood pancake. On the other hand the cold noodle was just alright. Nothing too special. Overall, I would stick to their stone bowl rice dishes :)

We had a satisfying meal at this restaurant last week! I'm a big fan of katsu, and I was delighted to try their gigantic katsu meal that is the same length of our tray! It was delicious and enough for 2. The pork bone soup was pretty good, we even got a second one to go. The beef omlette though was slightly disappointing for $8. This resto so offers 5% cash discount!

Arrived on a Sunday approx 1145, place wasn't too busy, only 2 tables occupied, old style Korean ballads playing, nice change of pace to the normal K-pop tunes. Tables started to fill up after 1230. Nicely decorated with nature themed dividers between the tables along the wall, nice touch. Ordered the eggplant bibimbap and their hangover soup Bibimbap came sizzling hot in it's stone bowl with plenty of ingredients/protein. Unfortunately it had a beany mapo tofu like flavor profile which was not what I expecting, asked for more gochujang sauce to bring it more in line with a traditional bibimbap. I liked the abundance of ingredients used, the hot stone bowl and the crisped rice scrapped off the bowl sides at the end. Next time I'll try their traditional bibimbap for a comparison. Their hangover soup came with plenty of bean sprouts. The clear broth was not very complex with only a slight hint of the dried pollock used, dumped my bowl of rice into it to break up the crunch of all the bean sprouts which dominated the dish. Service was attentive and efficient, staff also friendly and said goodbye when we left It's worth a try for another visit as their other dishes on the menu looked interesting

Love me some Korean food! This place specializes in bi bim bap bowls, both hot stone dolsot and cold. Other items on the menu include gukbap and cold noodles. They have daily specials which look like they are about 2 bucks cheaper than the regular price. On this night they also had pork bone soup listed as a 'Today's Special' What was ordered: Pork bone soup - good but not as spicy as other places Bulgogi bi bim bap Steak bi bim bap - cubed pieces of steak, potion looked smaller than the other 2 dolsots Eggplant bi bim bap - this a 'favorite' item and can be ordered with pork or beef, the menu lists chicken as an option but we were told they discontinued the chicken option. The eggplant dolsot seem to come hotter than the others. It took a while to cool down but there was also nice crispy pieces of rice at the bottom. Banchan is not served for the table to share, it comes with your order on a tray you get two small dishes (marinated fish cake and kimchi on this night). All the rice dishes come with a bowl of seaweed soup. Service is quick but hands off (we got our food quickly but no one checked in mid meal). Environment is very casual with K-Pop playing at a tolerable volume in the background. This is a credit card friendly place. All in all was a good first experience, we would definitely come again.

Tried their bulgogi bibimbamp here, absolutely the best bibimbamp I've ever had! Love the rice crust and the sauce.

Super cutely decorated inside, I came on a Saturday for lunch and they were pretty busy. Lots of different types of bibimbap! Portions were big and the seafood pajeon was super flavourful. There wasn't a bad dish. We were a group of 10 that just walked in and they were actually able to accommodate us right away which was great.

My friends and I tried to get a table at Cho Sun Ok in the neighbouring plaza but unfortunately that place was packed out the wazoo and didn't even take reservations. Enter Bap.zip. Relatively new and apparently started up by the owners of the burned down Piggy's in the same parking lot? Anyways, parking lot is massive. The restaurant itself is mid sized but the floor plan is questionable. There's a lot of plants lying around but there's a lot of empty space and it doesn't feel like they made the most use of it. There's a projector showing cool tea making techniques and traditions that replays on loop. I had a group of 12 in my party. When we told the server she initially gave us two tables of 6??? Um sure? We found that kinda odd (and ended up joining the tables anyways which they didn't seem to mind). The menu is actually fairly simple. Hot stone bowl bibimbap, cold noodles and sides. Literally 3 categories. We tried a bunch of their hot stone bowl bibimbaps and the seafood pancake. One of my friends opted for the don katsu. The don katsu was good according to my friend. I personally thought the seafood pancake was average but my gf liked it. They don't put as much seafood in the pancake as some other places but they DO make it really crispy on the outside which is great. You could definitely taste a lot of bone in the pork gukbap yet it was STILL bland. My gf thought it was bland, I thought it was bland and my friends thought it was bland. They do put a lot of meats in it though. Props for that. Squid bibimbap was ok. Some pieces of squid were too chewy, some were cooked just right. The steak dolsot certainly looked the prettiest out of the whole lot but the steak was slightly overcooked (probably due to coming in a sizzling stone bowl and continuing the cooking process at the table; unavoidable tbh). Overall, I'd wager that the best tasting dish was probably the don katsu. Would I return? Hard to say. Probably not on my own if I'm being honest. But they are relatively new from what I've heard and most likely working out kinks in their operations.

Delicious meal of bulgogi bibimbap served with three sides and a soup. Flavourful and always hit the spot. Only downside is service is a bit slower but we didn't mind as we were chatting. Cute decor and good amount of parking in the plaza.

February 12, 2023 - still thinking about the Seafood Pancake :p My friends and I went here for dinner, we ordered the Seafood Pancake, Spicy Pork Dolsot and 2 Steak Dolsot. Everything tasted great, we do wish that there was more rice in the Dolsot (we did order extra rice) but overall it was very good. The restaurant is nice and the staff was very friendly. It actually turns into another restaurant in the evening.

Saw this restaurant 's commercial on Chinese TV, and the wife wants to try it. I looked up some Yelp reviews, and they looked decent. So we went tonight with High Expectations! Big Expectations ,Big Disappointments! The Good: The restaurant is clean. Lots of parking space at the strip mall. The decor is pleasant. I like the bamboo Wife ordered their famousEggplant Dolsot $18. She likes the eggplant. The Bad: I ordered the Spicy pork dolsot. It was so sweet, I couldn't eat it. It was like eating a lump of sugar. The rice was sticky. I like Chinese sticky rice but not in a stone bowl.. I forced myself to eat a few spoonfuls and had to stop before I threw up. The small bowl of seaweed soup that came with the dinner was Luke warm and tasted fishy! I like steamy hot soup. When a soup is served, I like to see the steam coming out of the soup. The 3 side dishes that came with the meal were also subpar. One white cabbage slices was doused with sweet mayo. Couldn't eat it. The other 2 kimchi types were also not my cup of tea. I have been to many Korean restaurants, and this is the worst! Don't get me wrong about sweets, I love ice cream, milk chocolate, all kinds of cookies, as long as they are not too sweet. As a matter of fact, I find most western deserts too sweet for my taste buds. I prefer Asian deserts that are not too sweet. Probably only contain 50% sugar as compared with western deserts. I particularly can't stand sugar in my food. We don't add sugar in any of our food at home. The waitress offered 5% discount if you pay cash. We did. Would I go back? What do you think? I took the uneaten Dolsot home. Added a cup of plain white rice, 2 scrambled eggs, one Chinese sausage, and stirred fried into a fried rice to salvage it. I didn't want to throw it in the garbage. I didn't add any salt or spices, and rice was still too sweet. I had to sprinkle some sea salt and salted peanuts on it to neutralize the sweet, spicy pork/rice. My final creation was 10 times better!

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

Our favourite item was the seafood pancake. We devoured that and if given a choice to only order one dish, I would definitely recommend the seafood pancake. The budae jeongol (as a solo dish) could easily feed two people. They pack the soup in two large circular soup-like takeout containers and the ingredients in a square container - same as the ones that the bossam and seafood pancake came in. There were plenty of tteokbokki, sausages, cabbage, and ramen noodles. We put the dish together in a wok and kept it heated on a portable induction cooktop. Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. I personally would have preferred more sauce to help caramelize onto the beef ribs, but the older members of the family appreciated the plainness and liked that it was tender. The portion was decent, but the flavor was a bit bland and not salty enough for our taste -- overall I'd give it a 6/10. We also tried the Japchae ($13.99). Unfortunately, it was too greasy, a bit slimy, and overcooked -- about a 4/10 for me. They served five small side dishes, which were just average (5/10), and a small cup of noodle soup that was lukewarm and slightly sweet -- not to my liking, as I prefer savory over sweet in Korean food. The total came to $65.51 before tip, and we left a standard 15%. To be fair, by the time we finished lunch, there were quite a few tables filled, so maybe other dishes are better. But based on what we ordered today, the food didn't live up to the price. Would I go again? Probably not.
