    Beef Bulgogi

Tried this restaurant for the first time, by takeout. The food was hot and well prepared. The serving size was reasonable. Beef Bulgogi - this was just fine. The flavour was good and the beef was tender. Yang Nyeom Chicken - The serving was good. The pieces were large and well seasoned. Good. Jab Chae - Noodles were just alright.

Nice place. I had the pork dumpling and stone bowl. Both were pretty good. Really nice people.

I did not realize Jeon Ju Hyang open another location in Markham until I saw the BOGO on Ubereats! Kimbap! So many different options: Beef, Chicken, Tuna, Don/Chicken Katsu, vegetable, Shrimp, Squid and Cheese! Beef it is! Made when order and well packaged. So many ingredients rolled inside a thin layer of rice and the aroma of sesame oil! Jeon Ju Hyang, an authentic Korean restaurant in the neighbourhood.

    Lunch deal: fish katsu

My mom and I decided to try this Korean place because the one we like is really expensive and is closed on Sundays. We came on a Thursday for lunch, then I got diarrhea and had to go to Markham Stouffville Hospital's emergency ward. I had the jap Chae rice lunch deal, my mom had the crispy fish fillet lunch deal. I specifically said I wanted the chicken one, and the server (glasses with ponytail) confirmed our order with us. She was nice but so scatter brained. She got our order wrong and there were only TWO occupied tables total in the entire restaurant. Nobody else was even in the restaurant. Mine came first, and it was clearly beef, as pictured. It's my first time having jap chae rice so I was too excited and mixed part of it together. Then I told her that this is actually beef. She asked if I ate any, and I said no, so she said she will change just the chicken. ... Which she did. She really took out the beef and placed chicken in there. My mom's fish rice was okay. I liked the batter and sauce, but we agreed that the fish did not have fish taste. It was bland. Anyway, 6 hours later of eating nothing else, I got diarrhea then it became bloody diarrhea, then it became sheets of blood for 6 jours straight at 30 min to 1h intervals. I had chills, overall fatigue, and nausea. I thought I was going to die on the toilet. My mom took me to MSH emergency ward the next day when I stopped pooping bright red blood. I didn't eat anything the whole time. Doc did bloodwork and a CT scan on me and now got referred get a colonoscopy done. So yeah. Tasted great, probably wouldn't come again. I suspect it's the egg because my mom and I had some of the chicken, only I had the egg. Something was dirty.

Ordered from Ubereats since they had a little discount on their pork katsu and pork bone soup. Didn't take too long to arrive. The dishes came with rice and two side dishes (kimchi and seaweed). I had to reheat the pork bone soup because I enjoy my soups boiling hot. I did try the katsu and it was pretty good, it was a very decent sized portion too. My toddler and mr. Tran enjoyed it very much. Once my soup was hot, I took the first sip, even though the broth wasn't deep in flavor it was actually really nice. It wasn't spicy even though it looked spicy, and I was given generous amounts of pork bone with chunks of meat on it. I would've loved it if they gave me more broth vs meat though (haha, what can I say, I'm a soup gal)! I do wished they would've given me more sides, other Korean establishments I've eaten over the years thru takeout are very generous with a minimum of atleast 4 sides. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would have to give their kimbap a try next time.

    Chicken donkasu with fried egg

Visited with my friends and wife on a Saturday evening. It was 6:30 and it wasn't overly busy, just 3 other tables. You order your food through a website that you scan on your phone and once you're done you pay up at the front. The place is a bit on the pricier side but it's made up by the portion size. The donkasu was massive, with 3 portions of fried cutlet included. The batter was very crispy and the pork juicy. The jap chae rice was also very filling, and the metal bowl helped crisp up the rice giving it a nice crunchy texture. The place is pretty small and cozy, it gives the vibes of a small business although I know they have multiple locations.

Ordered my food to go and was really impressed! The service was fast and super friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely will be back for more!

    The Yum Report ..

Started in Scarborough and now expanded to the intersection of Hwy 7 & Warden, Jeon Ju Hyang is a Korean restaurant that offers all the Korean classics - soups, fried chicken and a variety of rice and noodle dishes. Although the menu had a bunch of sushi and maki options, doesn't seem like is available at this location. Their kimbap can be made in a variety of ways, we went with the don katsu. In addition to little pieces of pork katsu, the roll also had egg, radish, imitation crab and bunch of veggies. The roll was decent, but one negative was the pieces would break apart easily, which made it difficult to eat. We also had their gamja tang ramen, which came with 2 pieces of pork bone with instant noodles. The side dishes came with 3 variety, did notice different tables were given different options. Great staff who want to please their customers. Very friendly and helpful at giving recommendations. We ordered some of the lunch specials and spring rolls. Don Kasu with rice, beef Jan chee, spicy fried chicken and spicy chicken fried rice and tteok bokki. All was very good the spicy fried chicken should have a little more spice level but you can always add hot sauce.

Beef bimbap. Packed witbeef and veggies and a thin layer of rice just the way I like it. The pork bone soup was also done well. Tons of meat on the pork bone. The side dishes were refilled without asking and service was good. Only complaint is that pricing a bit on the higher side for Korean food. $16.95 for pork bone soup when many other places still go for $14.95.

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

While the food took some time it was understandable as it was very busy. The waiter was very apologetic about the wait. In terms of the interior, it's just one more thing that makes this place such a good dining option. The interior makes you feel like you're not in Toronto. They were speedy with attending to us when needed, and the worker even told us to let her know if we needed a refill on side dishes (based on my experience at other Korean restos, it's unspoken and you feel like they're hoping you don't ask them). The service was super friendly... the lady always came to us with a smile which was really warm and welcoming. The space is clean and I noticed their traffic seems to come and go in waves so wait times may be unpredictable but it didn't seem that anyone had to wait long before being seated. Ample parking in the plaza as well. Prices are fair ($15.99 for gamjatang). Highly recommend!

We ordered the bossam, seafood pancake, and budae jeongol and the bill came to ~$100. The bossam was quite a large portion and the flavour was quite delicious. Our favourite item was the seafood pancake. We devoured that and if given a choice to only order one dish, I would definitely recommend the seafood pancake. The budae jeongol (as a solo dish) could easily feed two people. They pack the soup in two large circular soup-like takeout containers and the ingredients in a square container - same as the ones that the bossam and seafood pancake came in. There were plenty of tteokbokki, sausages, cabbage, and ramen noodles. We put the dish together in a wok and kept it heated on a portable induction cooktop. They gave four containers of banchan: fish cakes, japchae, radish kimchi, and mandu. My only complaint about this experience (4.5/5) was their inaccurate waiting time. I called in around 5 PM on a Wednesday to place my order and they quoted that the order would take around 20 to 25 minutes. I showed up ~30 mins after I called and they didn't have the food ready until 5:50/5:55 PM. I understand that they're busy, but I would have appreciated a more accurate wait time.

I usually get their hot pot size of pork bone soup to share with others. It comes with lots of pork bones and a huge piece of potato. Bossom 5/5 - I love their bossom here. The only complain is that their bossom comes with lettuce rather than napa cabbage. Still super delicious though. Banchans 5/5 - Their kimchi is the best banchan they have. I often times also buy just their kimchi to take home as it's very garlicky, fresh and delicious. Spicy pork rice 3.5/5 - A good rice option, but I still prefer their soup better. Jajangmein 3.5/5 - Another one of those dishes that I can skip. Only get it so that we can have a variety saucey noodle dish. I can't recommend this spot enough. Make sure to get their kimchi! But also make sure to check your order before leaving. One time I was there, there was a flustered teenager working the front of house. Because I'm a regular there, I touched my order he handed to me and noticed there was no hot soup burning my hand while holding the take out bag. When I brought this up, the chef came out and also mentioned that he had forgotten to pack my two containers of soup. Thank goodness I checked. Unfortunately when I got home, I noticed that he also forgot to pack my two white rice that comes with my soup. So just make sure to double and triple check before leaving when you get your take out! Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. I personally would have preferred more sauce to help caramelize onto the beef ribs, but the older members of the family appreciated the plainness and liked that it was tender.
