Soy bean soup with seafood
Caroline C.

We have driven by this place so many times but finally decided to try it for the first time this past weekend. We didn't have high expectations because we haven't had good Korean food in Mississauga. However, we were very surprised at how good all the food was. It's very comparable to the korean restaurants in North York. The service is pretty decent too & the food came really quick. Each table has their own tablet to send in our order. The restaurant itself is pretty old looking but it was very cosy.

A small business run by lovely owners! Portions have gotten smaller for some dishes and the ginseng chicken soup no longer has ginseng anymore. But there banchans, leek seafood pancake and Kalbi Tang are all still great! Happy to support a local mom & pop shop.

April 2/2022: This is a very simple Mom & Pop run family restaurant. The place itself is small, maybe seats 30 ppl but it was clean. A very large menu considering the place itself. The food was very good but not off the charts good. Great variety as well. We had the Fried Chicken. Good tasting but little actual meat on the chicken itself. The glass noodles were tasty as was the variety of small tastings they supplied. The highlight of the meal was the hot beef. It's was my best dish. I wouldn't come back again as the dishes didn't really impact. I do recommend that you try this place, however.

One of my favourite Korean restaurants in this area. Family owned business, been around for a very long time. I love the bibimbap, and their dumplings amongst other things.

A good traditional mom and pop shop, the service is fine, the owners are nice, and the side kimchi dish are delicious!! Not sure if we can refill though, we didn't ask. A bit pricy ($16sth for the pancake, $13 for the soup which is okay and can't remember the price for the noodles) We enjoyed the pancake! It's crispy on the edge and the shrimp and squid are delicious. The soup is good but average good. We possibly won't drive there on purpose but next time if we're nearby and need some Asian food we'll revisit

Anniversary special pricing

I've been purposely avoiding this place for the past few years because I couldn't shake the feeling of being wronged from my past experience - but, my mother wanted to come, and so I went. I had the pork bone soup since it was a chilly autumn day. They were doing their anniversary special so many dishes were about $2 off; the pork bone soup I had was $9. Portion size is good; there's a lot of rice so the meal is definitely enough for one person. The meat is tender and the soup has a more subtle flavour that my mother likes. The soup came out piping hot and all the side dishes were good. It all comes down to preference; I've tried this pork bone soup a couple times and while it's not bad by any measure I just prefer the stronger, sweeter type of broth that I've had elsewhere. The venue is clean and quiet; we were the only ones there, which was kind of weird on a Saturday afternoon. The type of service hasn't changed - to get it you have to ask for it. It's good if you prefer being left alone to chat with friends, but don't expect above-and-beyond customer service. Overall, decent, but I've had better PBS. Normally, their prices are a bit higher than other establishments in the vicinity, so now is a good time to try this restaurant.

I didn't realized it went through a renovation until I saw it on a photo on Yelp. (I've tried it like 5 years ago.) So I went to check it out and surprisingly it was clean, spacious and welcoming. There's a small parking area in front of the place. There are six small side dishes which were good and I love the variety. The nutritious rice came with some yam which was a nice touch to it. However, the rice could be more chewy. The down side to it was that my soybean soup looked darker than I'm used to at other restaurants, so it ended up too salty to my liking. It was mostly tofu, onions And zucchini pieces. The tofu was not the silky type which I love how it can melt in your mouth. My partner got the pork bone soup and he was satisfied with his lunch. The potato could be cooked longer. Verdict: yes I would go back to try their other dishes.

Good to know as I find many Korean restos quite salty!

One of the "better" Korean restaurants in Mississauga! I don't like Owl, Sikgaek is pretty solid, and Buk Chang specialises in soon tofu, so limited menu. Not having been here in a few years, I gave it another chance due to a hankering for Korean, but not wanting to go to any of the places listed above. And you know what? Offerings are solid, esp for my cold weather staple, PSB! There was enough meat and purple rice w/ pieces of pumpkin accompanied it. Side dishes were also plentiful, with a good variety! Yes, it's a Ma 'n Pa, but don't let the location stop you!

Went in for lunch a couple times. I found overall great spot to have variety Korean dishes. Portions are generous and friendly service from the owners.

This really was a wow! Just wanted to pick up a bite after work and I came across this place. The spicy fried chicken was killer (I personally didn't find it spicy at all and would say the sauce is mild, but I imagine that's perfect for some). The chicken was so so yummy and paired so well with the cold pickled veggies. I will definitely be eating here again! Not to mention the very kind and friendly staff, it seems like a small family run business.

Banchan

Had major cravings for Korean food, so decided to come here today to satisfy these feelings. They had the doors wide open when we went there, probably to air the area out. Since it was a little chilly today, we found it to be quite cold upon entry. Fortunately, we warmed up pretty quickly after eating. I was astonished to see that they offer Korean chicken ginseng soup for only $10.99, the same price as their seollangtang (beef bone broth). The soup was quite clear and light, and you can see the chicken oil floating on top. The serving size was decently large; it came with four sizeable pieces of chicken. Although there wasn't much of a ginseng flavour, there were two pieces each of red dates and onion, and quite a bit of black pepper bits at the bottom of the dolsot. The chicken was fall off the bone tender. The accompanying rice was very delicious, and pleasantly surprising! It came steaming hot in a silver pressure cooker (in fact, since they have an open kitchen, we were able to see how they cook all these pressure cookers individually), and was a lovely mix of glutinous rice, black beans, forbidden (black/purple) rice, and orange sweet potato. A great healthy choice! My parents also ordered a gamjatang, or pork bone soup, to share. It was decent, and like the chicken, the meat was very tender. The vertebrae ribs literally fell apart at the touch. I really loved the assortment of banchan provided. The waiter was also very attentive; he came over twice - once to ask whether we needed anything and whether everything was all right (we ended up asking for an extra serving of banchan), and another time to refill our tea. A great restaurant that we will definitely revisit!

Ordered items: Soft tofu soup - you get to add a meat which is nice since most soft tofu soups I've tried don't have that option Pork bone soup - flavourful, but the meat was a little hard to remove from the bones Overall, my favourite part is the rice with sweet potato, but nothing too special!

Walking in, we were greeted with a smile. The interior of the restaurant was spacious with a private feel since they had areas sectioned off from one another. We ordered the Japchae (5/5), Boneless Yangnyum Galbi (4/5), Pork Belly (4/5). Japchae was delicious with a hint of smokey flavour to it. The noodles were chewy and complemented well with the savoury flavours of bulgogi. The vegetables added a nice crunch to every bite. The mushrooms added a chewy and fun texture to the dish. Boneless Yangnyum Galbi was so tender. Its marinade was on the sweet side which we weren't really a fan of but we still enjoyed the dish. Pork Belly was also tender. It was thinly sliced which was quite a let down since we typically prefer pork belly sliced a bit thicker. The BBQ we ordered came with two bowls of rice and lettuce (non-refillable), ssamjang and sesame oil with black pepper and salt for dipping, and some side dishes that were refillable: kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers and sweet potato. The overall quality of the ingredients, especially the meats, were great. It was pretty telling how much the cooks enjoyed prepping and cooking the dishes. This place is on the pricier side which is reasonable for the quality of their food. The portions are also reasonable for their price-points. I'd come back on a special occasion and/or when I'm craving japchae. The servers we had were attentive, checking in every so often to clear our dishes and change our grills.

The meat was really flavourful and well-seasoned, and they've got a big variety of cuts to choose from. I also liked that they've also got veggie options and other sides that make the meal feel balanced. The ambience is really nice too, kind of chill but still lively, and they've got these cute lights outside. Service was great, the staff were super kind and really quick to help us out whenever we needed something. It's a little on the pricier side, but honestly that's pretty standard for Korean BBQ, and the quality here makes it worth it. Easily in my top 3 Korean BBQ spots in Mississauga.

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. The banchan (small side dishes) are refillable once only. My favourite banchan of the day were the bean sprouts and eggplant. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

Their cuts of meat are just so good, as well as the sides. We always order multiple rounds of the pickled cucumber and get several refills on the corn and kimchi. The tofu stew that comes with the set is also super comforting and delicious. Don't skip this! Oh it's also annoying that rice is $3 BUT to be fair, they pack this and one bowl is enough for me. I like that it's not plain white rice either. I pretty much tried every beef option but can't remember them all. However on my most recent visit, we ordered: BEEF TENDERLOIN BEEF RIB FINGER MEAT BEEF BONELESS SHORT RIB BEEF SHORT PLATE My favourite was defs the boneless short rib. I loved the marbling on it and it was easy to eat. The tenderloin took FOREVER to cook, but once cooked, it was tender and meaty. Exactly as described. I wouldn't order the short plate again, as it was a little too fatty. All of this including the rice came up to $131 and split between 3 people it was $43 with tax. So not bad at all and it ends up being around the same price as any AYCE bbq spot. Thats why I don't mind coming here cuz of the quality and sides. Service is also super friendly and they come around often asking if you need anything else. I made resos for a Saturday at 12:30 but it wasn't really needed because the place was only about 1/5 full. And indeed it was. The place was quite crowded but we managed to snag a table in the middle of the restaurant. I quickly looked at the menu, but immediately I was drawn to the Bibimbap ("Comes with rice, vegetables and egg"), mostly because it had been a while since I'd eaten that venerable dish. It arrived fairly quickly after I ordered it and obviously I had to mix all the components together along with a small dish of the included gochujang. And yeah, it totally hit the spot. All the components were way above average and while I could've used a little more spice, I managed to inhale the whole thing in what had to be record time. My dining companion ate the soup for which the place is known and he was pretty much blown away, so it's a safe bet to say I'll be returning if only to try that for myself.

Bossam Set Meal - The set came with bossam, rice and kalguksu which I hadn't tried before. The bossam was so soft and fatty it was perfect paired with the radish and ssamjang in a lettuce wrap. The kalguksu noodles were a comforting side with the clear broth, vegetables and noodles that were long and chewy. I also tasted a bit of the Bulgogi Set Meal that the others ordered and the bulgogi had the classic flavors, savory and a little sweet. An unexpected star of the meal was the side of kimchi that came with this set which was so fresh, crunchy and refreshing. Overall, we loved getting to sample a variety of items from their set meals and would definitely come back for some comforting Korean food.
