I went here to grab dinner. It's a small restaurant with a few seats inside. It was quite hot upon entering. The shop keep was nice. I ordered the bibimbop with beef. The portion size is large and came with a free miso soup. I did order a side of kimchi however it seems the shopkeep forgot to include it when she handed me my takeout bag. The side of kimchi is $1.75. As I only found out after I got home, there was nothing I could do at that point. The quality of the food itself was good but I think for the price there may be better Korean eats more north in the city. A family-owned Korean restaurant with stable food quality. They don't offer fancy menu or variety of food...it's like when you eating mom's food, simple ingredients and delicious. Most of time that's the part I like the most. Highly recommend fried chicken and bibimbap read more

I've come here maybe twice now on my lunch. I love the bibimbap here and they give you enough of the sauce (which some places don't). My only critique is that it's a bit expensive for bibimbap, even by Toronto standards. However, it is quite big and it's usually 1.5 meals for me. read more

Returned for another visit and was not disappointed. Word of advice that they are quite busy on Friday evenings. I had to wait 30min but as I was picking up I heard the wait time was well over an hour. Worth the wait imo, but probably better to go another day of the week if possible. Tried Kim chi fries this time. They were nice and crispy despite being carried home. The spicy chicken and chapchae were pretty good and the crispy tofu was as delicious as last time. Also want to highlight the great service here. The server was friendly and quick even with the rush. I've found legitimate Korean food in Toronto and it's downtown! I was so full I could barely finish. For the prices they charge, these are a steal! I ordered the tteukboki and fried chicken. For the tteukboki I also add on cheese and it was an extra charge for it. This is more of a takeout spot and I've notice they take food orders like ritual or Uber eats. The service was pretty slow in my opinion and took over 15 minutes to get ready. The tteukboki was not bad, it tasted good but I felt like the price was too much for what it was. The fried chicken was decent but I felt like the portion is so small. Long for Korean food all of a sudden . So we popped into the store which is 15 minutes walk from where we live. A cozy and tidy place-for take outs only. Had wanted to order EVERYTHING from the menu. But it's just the two of us. So we ended up having: Ddukbokki- rice cake with fish cakes and veggies. We could have done milder but it's the right taste. Japchae- stir fried glass noodles. We were in the area and decided to pick up lunch on the way back home. I ordered from Mama Lee's Korean Kitchen from Ritual pretty soon after they opened at 11:30am. We ordered a fair amount of food (two orders of fried chicken and two additional meals), and they quickly gave us a 20 minute wait time for pick up. This family owned eatery has great customer service and are true to their order times. We were greeted by the host at the counter the minute we came in and informed us she was packing up the last of our order. Our order was wrapped well and double bagged, which was great for our 25 minute drive back home. The food was fantastic despite our long commute home. We got two orders of fried chicken, which were obviously well rested before pickup because they were still crispy when we finally got to eat. I REALLY enjoyed the Ddukbokki, I think it's a great portion for the price. I was told the Bulgogi Rice Bowl was also a steal, filled with beef and rice in a good equal portion. I will definitely be stopping by again on our next Toronto visit, it was a fantastic Korean meal at such an affordable price. read more

I'm not Korean and not a resident of Canada. I am a lover of good food and this place has great food. First time eating here and I was eagerly awaiting them to open at 11:30 am. It's a small place with no tables so everything is take out (or takeaway in some countries). I saw a local person placing her order and asked if this place was good. She said she's never eaten there but has heard of good comments. Placed my order for bibimbap and their new item of bulgogi fries. Didn't know how large the servings were so I ordered both. Then I saw a Toronto police officer go in and place his order. Now I knew this place was good and safe if police go there to eat. Food was ready relatively quickly and the order was brought to me outside. Smelled really good and I could hardly wait to get back to the hotel to eat. Of course being Korean food I didn't want to eat in my room so I went to the indoor pool and sat down with my food treasure. Everything looked picture perfect. Bibimbap was well proportioned with the rice, veggies and egg. The bulgogi fries looked awesome and artistic. The taste was amazing and well executed. The bulgogi fries had great crunch combined with the tenderness of the beef and the taste was perfect. Each one could be its own meal but I had to try it all. Ate all of the bibimbap and half of the fries. Saving the rest for later. If you like Korean food then you will enjoy this place. The freshness of the ingredients and flavor of the meats are awesome. Even though I'm Korean Canadian living nearby, I've never been here until today despite my craving for Korean stuff (basically non-existent unless you go up north or Christie, Yonge-Dundas maybe), and that's because I thought this place might not be authentic Korean, just like some Korean places I've been to in Ottawa which claimed to be Korean and turned out it was nowhere close, but a random weird hybrid. I tried it for the first time and happy to tell you that I was wrong and at least bulgogi rice I had today was very legitimate and as a Korean I give my big thumbs up. Not too salty, good balance of meat and veggies with large amount of rice. Using paper container is also a nice touch. Good korean bulgogi. Only downside is I wish they give more kimchi because as you see in the photo, I get uhhh...one bite basically but maybe demographics dont prefer having a lot, who knows. I'll occasionally come back again to update reviews perhaps as I try more from their menu but just letting you know you won't fail with bulgogi rice. read more

I discovered this restaurant and then the Ritual app on the next day. Over the course of that week I think I returned 4 more times... it's just that good. I was super late in finding out about the opening of this little establishment, but I am so glad I found a new lunch go-to in the neighbourhood. Everything I've tried so far has been fresh, delicious, and fairly priced. I wouldn't call it fast food because everything is made to order and you will usually need to wait about 10 minutes unless you order in advance, but it is primarily takeout oriented. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Japchae (glass noodles with bulgogi style beef and veggies): Great value for a quick bite. Try to eat it fresh though. It does keep okay but the meat tends to dry out, so it tastes much better fresh. Ddukbokki (rice and fish cakes): I was surprised at how much heat this packs! I normally love spicy food but have a somewhat low tolerance (for an Asian). However, between gulps of water I was able to finish more than half of the meal in 1 sitting. My partner, who usually has a high spicy tolerance, gave up after just a few bites! I ordered this with cheese for an extra dollar and would recommend you do the same. Kalbi (short rib) rice bowl: This is one of the pricier items on the menu, and arguably doesn't offer as much value, but is still a fantastic choice. The meat is well seasoned and cooked. Overall a nice, balanced bowl. Jjajangmyun (noodles with black bean sauce and pork): Perfection. Soft and chewy noodles smothered -- absolutely smothered -- in delicious meaty, umami sauce and garnished with slices of pickled radish. It usually takes me 2 sittings to finish an entree from here, but I've ordered this dish at least 3 times now and I just inhale the whole thing every time. I cannot recommend this enough as a comfort food, and I know I will be devouring this on many a cold and dark day in the upcoming winter. Soon tofu soup with seafood: A classic but a goodie. Note you can order this without the seafood. Kimchi fried rice: I quite enjoyed this, especially with the fried egg on top. My partner thought it was bland but I disagree. I will continue to support this business as long as it stays around and my goal is to try everything on the menu. BOTTOM LINE: Korean comfort food FTW! It's refreshing to see not only a a family-owned resto open up in this hood, but a Korean one at that (there's literally no Korean offerings within a 4-block radius)! I believe their opening plans were dashed when the COVID lockdown happened in March 2020, but they've back again. Their prices are great, their portions are huge, and the quality, I would say is very decent from everything I've tried. They also sell a bunch Korean/Asian snacks and beverages. It seems - for now - you can only order via online apps and everything is take out only (i.e., there's no way to call for pickup to help them avoid the cut these apps take). SOON TOFU: Easily my favourite dish here! The tofu was silky smooth, the broth had various seafood in it and had a good kick to it as well, and it's served with purple rice. KIMCHI FRIES: Without the mayo, I'm not sure they top Banh Mi Boys' KC fries but they're still snacktastic! JJAJANGMYUN: Their black bean sauce was decent, and very saucy. CHICKEN KATSU: The portion is huge and although I would've preferred pork katsu (unfortunately pork isn't offered), the breading was light and crispy. (SPICY) FRIED CHICKEN: As much as I like Mama Lee's, the Toronto fried chicken game is fierce, and I'd like to see them step up their game! They give generously sized boneless chicken that's pretty juicy, so they're starting off on solid footing. I think two main things can really elevate them though. First, even accounting for take out containers making things soggy, I'd like to see the batter be a bit crispier. Second, and this applies to their spicy fried chicken, I think it needs to be tossed in more of the red sauce because right now, it's pretty dry and the flavour is very mild. You *can* order extra sauce on the side for $0.50, but I'd like to see the normal chicken saucier. All in all though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place if you ever have some cravings for Korean comfort food. read more

Really happy I decided to try Mama Lee's this afternoon as I was craving some jjajyanmun. The location is nestled on Yonge Street about a block before the Harbourfront but I'm sure I'll visit this spot again in the future. Having all of the usual items (bibimbap, kimchi fried rice, a cute looking bulgogi bowl, Korean fried chicken, etc), this primarily takeout driven spot delivers on quality. I had a very yummy, generous portion jjajyanmun, which provided a generous portion of soft, fresh, chewy noodles and a really good black bean sauce. This definitely satisfied my craving. In terms of service, service was extremely friendly and the takeout was packed so neatly (in a microwaveable bowl on top of that). read more

Really good quality Korean food at a reasonable price. We had their tofu bimimbap which had nice crunchy veggies, toasted sesame flavor and fluffy rice. Food is underwhelming and slow. The Jjajangmyun (Pork in Black bean sauce) was served with the noodles separated from the sauce. The noodles were overcooked and under seasoned. They cooked even more on transportation home and glued together in one big mass next to the sauce, which it wasn't mixed with. The sauce itself was one note savory. If they had added more pickled radish it might have been better. However the pork itself was also stringy, tough and dry, not that there was much of it. For $10 it's a large amount of noodles, but it's not fantastic. The beef bulgogi was a little bit better because it had sweet, savory and acidic notes. It is served with a red rice so it has a very different taste than expected. There was still a very minimal amount of beef. There were just a few pickled radish and carrots so I wouldn't say that is "beef with vegetables," as they advertise. The included "fried item" is a one-bite chicken dumpling with overwhelming onion flavor. Also, we had a 30 minute wait for just two dishes, with nowhere to sit and wait. Would not return. read more

Currently, Mama Lee only takes Uber eats or Ritual orders. We ordered from this place over Uber eats and it was really delicious. The soon tofu soup was mild spicy and had lots of tofu in it. The rice was cooked perfectly. The kimchi fried rice was different than the other Kimchi fried rice from other restaurants. It had a lot of vegetables in it and it was not spicy at all. It still has kimchi taste. The japchae was amazing! It wasn't wet and the texture was perfect. All 3 of these choices were really good. I hope to try the other choices in their menu. read more

Ordered from Mama Lee's a couple of times now and haven't been disappointed yet. It probably won't be the best Korean meal you have ever had but they do a solid job across all their dishes, are relatively quick in preparing the food, and most importantly for me, are located within walking distance. The food is good value for the large portions they give you, and the shop has a clean feel to it. I've started ordering through Ritual to get more points as well. Overall, a nice addition to the area, it replace a so-so pita restaurant, so definitely an upgrade. read more
