Squid bibimbap.... Big portions great flavor!
Sylvia K.

This place is straightforward Korean food. Quick service, tasty, big portions and good prices. Large variety of dolsot bibimbap. Udon was also delicious. Comfortable seating. Banchan side dishes so good....especislly the spinach, seasoned potatoes and spicy cucumber

Seafood Rice Cakes with Cheese

With the wealth of new restaurants opening along Dundas, one shouldn't overlook these longtime establishments. In fact, I had to come here with a couple friends as our intended dinner place had a 2+ hour wait, and we weren't down for waiting so long. This is a "standard" Korean restaurant amongst many of the shiny new places that have taken over Dundas in the past decade. Again, it's nice to dine in these places after spending so much money this past holiday break travelling. We shared a rice cake with seafood and cheese, and I added a beef soybean stew for myself. Pretty standard items, and I'd say it was solid. Given the price for food these days, it's nice getting a fill-you-up dinner meal for under $30. Don't expect much for service here as it's quick, fill you up, and leave kind of place. Still worth it though!

Classic Beef Bibimbap

The food was very good as was the service. The outside doesn't look like much but inside it's cozy and the staff pleasant. I stopped by after a full day of sightseeing and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the classic beef bibimbap and paired with it soju (peach flavor). This spot is definitely worth the trip if you're visiting or new in town.

kimchi pancake

This restaurant fills up pretty quickly for lunch on a Sunday. We ordered kimchi stew, kimchi pancake, and japchae with beef (adding beef costs $3 more). Soon after we ordered, we got the side dishes, and then the main dishes started coming out one after the other. On the menu, the kimchi pancake has one chilli pepper next to it, but I found that it wasn't spicy at all, and I cannot handle much spice. It was nothing like I expected. It was okay, but not great. I wouldn't order it again. The japchae was really sweet. There was a decent amount of vegetables and beef in it. We didn't finish our side dishes, but I've read from other reviews that it's not refillable. Overall, it was an okay meal, but with so many Korean restaurants in the city, there are other ones I'd rather go to.

Pork Bone Soup

Walking in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and hellos. The place was busy but they were accommodating to our big group of 8. The service was fast and the servers were attentive. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, pork bone soup, bulgogi and kimchi bibimbap. The sweet and sour pork was crispy, and the sauce was a bit more on the sweet side. The pork bone soup was spicy with a rich flavour. It was a bit salty but pork bone soup has always been a favourite of mine, and this was one hit my craving in the right spot. The bulgogi was very tender and well marinated with a sweet soy marinade. The kimchi bibimbap was delicious with Mama Lee's famous kimchi. They only give one round of side dishes for free, and you get two side dishes for free once the first round is finished. After that, there'll be a fee. Their kimchi, sweet potatoes and bean sprouts side dishes were great. Overall, this restaurant is busy but I'd love to come back again.

Tokayaki

Excellent service, great ambiance, the food is pretty good too. The beef bulgogi is tasty, and the tofu bibimbap was on point. We also liked the octopus balls, but wished the pancake was crunchier.

Salmon Bibimbap

Very friendly and quick service. A nice intimate setup witj dim lighting. I could see it being a great date night. They give you an abundance of food. Additionally when they served me my order it was literally sizzling which was impressive and endorses it is freshly prepared to order. Overall great presentation and great service but on the flavor side it leaves alot to be desired but it I ever are in town again I would give it a second try

Takoyaki and banchan for the bibimbap
Jesse W.

Delicious food, great service, and cozy atmosphere are all plentiful here! The bibimbap are amazingly tasty with plenty banchan to choose from to add even more flavor. The gyoza is a crispy wrapper with a fantastic flavor fillings. The takoyaki is browned perfectly on the outside with a terrific creamy inside and plump pieces of octopus. Stop in for a quick bite or a longer meal, everything we've tried this visit (and previous visits) has been exceptional!

Lunch box $24
Michelle J.

The food was 4 star. I got the bento lunch box and there were two items I didn't appreciate. The dumplings and the tempura broccoli. $24 lunch special I want to love everything. I also didn't like that they take away the dishes when you're still eating, even if there is only a little on the plate... I wanted that last piece of kimchi- ha ha I was also served a chipped glass of water and then when I asked for a new one, the lemon was on the bottom of the glass and there was no ice. Which made me question it. The ambience is nice. Music and decor are pleasant. Will I come back? Not sure, it's out of the way and a bit pricey.

Kimchi Korean House - Bulgogi Bibimbap
Mike H.

Kimchi Korea House is conveniently located in downtown Toronto. It's an authentic spot for your fix of pork bone soup, bibimbap, and other Korean classics. It has plenty of table booths, and the service is also quite friendly. They operate from lunch till the late evenings. Upon seating, we scoured the menu and settled on their stonepot (dolsot) bibimbap which comes in a variety of meat, seafood & vegetarian options. Bulgogi bibimbap arrived in a good size portion, with tender meat, veggies, a splash of soy sauce & drizzle of sweet hot sauce. The crispy rice added texture to the bottom of the stonepot. The meal also came with four banchan side dishes. Only dig is the menu pricing. For the second time in a month, a downtown establishment's menu vs actual item pricing didn't match. While I get that restaurants are trying to account for inflation, it's only fair via accurate menus rather than to be short-changed.

Naengmyun.
Benedict T.

Preface: ended up disappointed with one specific entree. I came with a friend on a hot day after noticing naengmyun (the signature Korean cold noodles) on their menu, thinking it would be a nice way to cool off. When the dish arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the watermelon & pear slices combo - I've seen the latter garnish for naengmyun before to counter the savory and rich broth, however not the watermelon. Both added an interesting texture for sure, a nice contrast to the soft noodles. Unfortunately, the broth was bland (largely unsatisfying) and strangely orange. The noodles were extremely thin and non-chewy, accompanied by slices of dry, flavorless beef. I also was not expecting to find partially-melted ice cubes in the dish to keep it cold. I couldn't bring myself to finish the noodles. For 19.95, I expected more, especially since I've had better while cheaper at other restaurants. My friend ordered the spicy tofu stew, which was decent. It came with an abundance of seafood, albeit at the cost of less tofu. The stew itself was flavorful, and not overwhelmingly spicy. Other thoughts on the experience - Kimchi Korea House gave 2 free complimentary refills for the Banchan (Korean side dishes). I loved their kimchi - not too acidic from the fermentation process. I'll come back for the spicy tofu stew and maybe to try some other entrees, but definitely not for the naengmyun. 2 stars for the naengmyun.

Sweet and Spicy Chicken

I recently started going for acupuncture in the area and Kimchi Korea House has become my 'go to' lunch place after my session. Their Kimchi Stew is so delicious. It hits the spot especially when it's freezing outside. I really like their banchan as well. The kimchi is not too spicy, but still has a kick to it. You're offered two complimentary refills of banchan so we always ask for more of their regular cabbage kimchi. For my husband's first visit, we ordered a bunch of dishes so that he could try a number of things. Portion sizes are generous so we had a lot of take away containers that became our lunches for the next few days. The Bibimbap, tempura, spicy chicken with cheese are all good options to order as well. Service is consistently good. It's a well-oiled machine here. My next acupuncture appointment is next week so can't wait to have lunch here again! Good for: Korean, lunch, dinner

Kimchi pancake $14.50
Janice Y.

Kimchi Korea House serves all the Korean dishes you expect. It was easy to grab a seat on a weekend day evening. They also followed COVID protocols and checked proof of vaccine before seating us. I'm very basic, ordered pork bone soup (PBS) and shared a kimchi pancake with friends. The PBS here is spicier than other Korean restaurants and was at the threshold of what I prefer. It was good and hit the spot on a chilly night. I only wish the potatoes were softer. My friend was going to order extra spicy and I'm glad that the server warned her to try regular first if it's her first time there. Kimchi pancake and banchan (side dishes) were also tasty. The price is just a tad higher, but it's central with fewer Korean options nearby so it's to be expected. It's pretty good you can't go wrong here.

I liked the toppings though having an option of heat level would have been nice. Service was so so. The host greeted us and when we asked for a table along the back she very reluctantly gave us one saying they are saved for the dinner rush. We were there at 6:30pm so would think we are part of that "rush". When we left an hour later there were only a few her diners and two single diners were given Seats along the wall. So much for that dinner rush. Also no one ever came to check on us. Had to flag down for anything even the check. Though servers were grouped together on the side talking most of the time. Though the food is good, the service makes me wary of returning.

Sansotei Ramen Review…read more Order: Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen Ambience: Sansotei at union station is more like a quick takeout /food court ramen spot than a sit-down restaurant. It's great if you're grabbing something fast, but the seating area wasn't the cleanest and I had to look around for a table that had been wiped down, which wasn't ideal if I am paying 21$ for a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. Food: I tried the black tonkotsu ramen and it was definitely rich and filling. I liked that you can choose between thick or thin noodles, which is a nice touch. That said, the broth was a bit too rich and salty for my taste and could use something to balance it out, maybe an order or Diet Coke. The meat was good but not as tender as I would like. Sides and Pairing Tip: I'd recommend getting a side of gyoza or even a Diet Coke to help cut through how rich, heavy and salty the ramen feels. Value for Money: It's a good option for a quick meal, but it does feel a little expensive for the experience you're getting for that price. Overall: Great for a fast ramen fix when you're on the go, but maybe not the best choice if you're looking for a more comfortable dine-in experience, or more value for money. 3/5

The weather in Toronto this week has been in the 20's and 30's! The restaurant does serve the dodgers when they are in town! If it's good enough for them... I ordered a Canadian whiskey to start off. It was very nice and smooth. I think it was a Sleeman and sons? Not positive but I really liked it! Then the food. I ordered the first roll from every section. There were some repeats which he advised me would happen but I didn't mind! The sushi was so tender and had great flavor. My husband ordered the ribeye steak and that was really really good. I would order that definitely next time and come here again!

I don't usually go for high-end sushi restaurants, but Miku has been on my list for a while, so I was genuinely excited to finally check it out. The restaurant is located on the ground level of an office building, but the moment you step inside the restaurant, everything changes. You go from bright, corporate lighting to a moody, romantic space with soft, dim lighting and a refined, intimate ambiance... it truly feels like entering a different world. Bonus points for the complimentary coat check, which is a huge win during winter when everyone is lugging around massive puffer jackets. We were seated in plush, velvety sofa booths near the bar, with a view of the street, which felt both cozy and upscale. Shoutout to our server, Shintaro, who was phenomenal with his warm, attentive, and energetic service, which made the whole experience even better. We started with drinks: my coworkers ordered sake flights, while I went with their signature cocktail, the kumquat cosmo. It was sweet and citrusy, and exactly what I needed on a Tuesday night after work. For appetizers, we all chose the sushi and sashimi selection, which included 9 pieces of chef-selected sashimi, chef-selected nigiri, and aburi oshi sushi. This was chef's kiss. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the sushi and nigiri were perfectly seasoned and sauced, so that we didn't even need soy sauce (though they do have a lovely house-made sweet soy sauce). I ordered the Red Wave Roll just to use their house-made sweet soy sauce... and wow. I've never had sushi that didn't fall apart after biting into it For my main, I went with the roast black cod. It was cooked beautifully, with a tender, slightly chewy texture that was rich but not overwhelming. For dessert, I went with their famously loved green tea opera. It's a small green tea sponge cake layered with matcha buttercream, red bean cream, and a hazelnut wafer crust, paired with a rich, velvety matcha ice cream on the side. Balanced, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, Miku lived up to (and honestly exceeded) the hype. Incredible food, top-notch service, and a beautiful atmosphere.

We had spring rolls & garlic chicken as appetizers. Everyone ordered their own main. I ordered the Beef Pad Thai with some modifications for my food allergies & preferences. The pad thai was really delicious & filling! Well, maybe because I had the appetizers too. LOL. In any case I enjoyed my food & couldn't finish it all. So I took the rest home in a small container. We didn't have any dessert because we were full! Service: I came early to make sure we didn't lose our table & was seated right away. I ordered appetizers so when everyone came they would have something to eat while the main dishes were being cooked. The main dishes actually came pretty fast after we ordered them. Our waitstaff were two different ladies & they were very nice & efficient. Ambiance: The decor is very kitschy. There were paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. And the door to the bathroom is a rustic wooden door. The tables are basic & chairs all had different colours. I don't mind the decor but it's very casual so not the best for a corporate dinner if you want something fancy. Also the music was quite loud. So it was hard to have a conversation. I like the food here & it's in a convenient spot. It's just really loud & casual. Also there isn't much space between the tables so if the restaurant is full it could feel squishy! I would come back here again to try some different dishes.
