They do the "traditional" dishes with a twist / fusion. For example, the black cod is usually feel heavy with the miso based sauce, but they added some acidity to the sauce and they made the black cod taste rich and light (not to mention the black cod was perfectly cooked); traditionally the Brussels Sprouts would be finished by tossing balsamic vinegar over it. Sometimes that would still feel heavy. Instead, they tossed it with strawberry vinaigrette. So the acidity is very light and not too sweet. We finished our meal with the Yokai Signature Maki. Yes, they SHOULD be proud of this Maki enough to put their name on it. They hit it on the nail with the taste profile. I have a zero tolerance with spiciness, so they put the spicy mayo on the side, and I encouraged my wife to dip the Maki with it. She confirmed my suspicion that the spicy mayo took the maki to another level. We definitely will come to try other dishes. Edit: they comped us a slice of Matcha Cheesecake. While it is still not my cup of tea, but I was very impressed with how good it taste. My "dislike" is with cheesecakes because they feel heavy. And she spoke very highly of the bartender Philip, and swore he could make anything. So I asked for a mocktail French 75-and it was amazing! We also got a different mocktail listed on the menu that contained dragonfruit, and it was incredibly tart. When we told the server, and she offered to add simple syrup. I was a bit disappointed because she could have offered for the bartender to remake it, or offer a different mocktail altogether. Nonetheless, we took her up on the simple syrup addition, and it actually made the taste worse. I explained to her that it still didn't taste right, and she just apologized. No other suggestions. So to get going due to our upcoming dinner reservation, I had to request for her to remove it from our bill. She complied, and we expeditiously checked out.
