I love visiting Soho for their food, drinks and above all their Photo-boot. Toronto is usually cold so, we really enjoy the sitting outside and the romantic view. We will definitely come!!! I was too hungry didn't took a picture of the food. Next time

The space is unmarked, attached to the Shangri-La hotel. The give away was the flow of people in and out of the main door for cigarette breaks. This made the club feel a bit like a speakeasy, with that exclusivity. Went here for a party on Saturday night. Got there early, but because I didn't know thr name of thr private memeber that booked the reservation (my friend's friend's aunt), the front desk wouldn't let me in. Once I got in, the bartender was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were a bit pricey, and so was the food. Quality of food wasn't anything special, and if anything, the cheese burger was very underwhelming. Korean fried chicken was pretty decent, shishito peppers (with a green puree base) and fries were as expected. Atmosphere and venue was nice, but for the size there wasn't many people at all around 10 pm.

Love the mushroom salad. It's super satisfying even though it's "just a salad". Staff is awesome and very helpful, as expected.

Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Are the beer cans running out? It's possible. But, it's a dive in the way of the old dives. And the acoustics for bands are... not great. But they are a sign of what once was. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Bring cash though, unless you're looking to make some big orders, because credit card is a minimum fifty-dollar spend.

If you're looking for a classy place and can somehow get through the membership hurdles, I highly recommend it. Some caveats: -We were a bit confused about the entrance but were eventually let in through the front door facing the street. Unclear if it was locked or just really heavy. -The bathroom is upstairs (and is beautiful) but there's an elevator if you're feeling lazy. -You are not allowed to tag the York Club in your social media pictures because this place is shrouded in mystery. Oops. This announcement may have come too late for me. Cocktail Hour -was supposed to be in the garden but was in several rooms inside due to rain, which was very lovely. Great architecture, art, and high ceilings, and two rooms with bars, with room for the quartet/jazz band? in the middle. -Food selections were incredible! Seared tuna, gnocchi, lobster tempura, and several other bites. -Pro tip 1: Stand by the elevator hallway for first access to food, I'm not sure how well it filtered to the other rooms considering what vultures my friends and I were. -Pro tip 2: It got very humid in the main room but the room to the left was well air conditioned. Dinner -was phenomenal. From the salad with tiger shrimp to the mushroom soup and lamb entrée, everything was delicious. -They kept forgetting to bring out my friend's gluten-free meal, but whenever she reminded them, they quickly brought out a (still delicious) gluten-free version. - The dining room was large, with round tables in the main room and I believe rectangular tables in the side room. -Acoustics were great for speeches and there was even a piano for a special performance by one of the guests! Dancing -Enough space for a band and a DJ and a bunch of guests to go nuts. -It was a bit hard to all crowd around to see the first dance. -Cake and favors were in another room adjacent to the dancing. -They brought out sliders and fries and grilled cheese at the end of the night!!! And they were delicious. Highly recommend this beautiful venue for your wedding/special event/baller party!

Signage, facilities, drinks, and, of course, food which will the reasoning for the dismal rating. Everything about the wedding was lovely, the space, the drinks, but the food, man, was the food bad. The worst out of the way first? Sure. There was this shrimp soup. Correction, there was some type of.. meat (questionable) that once used to be shrimp but was either severely overcooked to the point that it crumbled in your mouth and had some type of texture that resembled goat cheese. It didn't taste rotten, but it definitely did not taste like shrimp. I was not alone in my disdain for this shrimp soup dish. I'm not sure anyone I talked to enjoyed it. Mains were wholly uninspired and missed the mark. My wife had the fish (arctic char) that was dry and bland. It was supposed to come with a white beurre blanc sauce but that never came. I tried the filet mignon which, although not overcooked, was tasteless. Chef, please season your food. Everyone was racing for the salt and pepper. The plating was also lacking. I can remember everything that was on the dish, 2 asparagus, 1 gem potato sliced in half, 3 broccoli crowns, and a half sliced tomato and the main. Surprisingly these veggies were on both the fish and beef dishes. There was a cool swan made of butter though.

If you decide to visit you will likely be on the second floor. I was able to sneak down and check it out but I didn't fully experience the main part of this establishment. However the decor inside is great and sets a nice vibe. Staff are friendly and there's a lot of selection and they do cater to vegans. Lots of great areas in this space for hanging out or even playing games. The third floor as I found out is for private events and is the top floor of the building. It's a fairly large space so if you are interested in having an event this place could fit the bill. Again some very interesting decor makes the space warm and welcoming. Special secret hint apparently you can also rent out the 3rd floor on Airbnb as well. We found a fully furnished bedroom and of course had to ask what was up with that. If you are looking for a great place to hang that maybe not everyone else has found out about yet this is a pretty good place although the popularity tells me it won't be that unknown for too long.

It's set up like…read morea lounge with a room for wine storage where members can store bottles of wine (and whatever else) in their humidity and temperature controlled lockers. Having moved back to Toronto recently, I thought it would be great to join to meet other young professionals, and we did. This is the perfect place to meet new people over a bottle of wine, or bring old friend by to help you enjoy one, or two or three. The price for a locker is reasonable given i can store a 10$ bottle of wine that i would normally pay 50$+ for at a restaurant, so two bottles of wine per month i and i consider that i saved money (contrary to some of the other comments below), plus got all the other bonus' i mentioned. I found other members to be very nice and approachable. Its located in a quiet nook of DT Toronto (east end) which makes it hassle-free: no gridlock, plenty of cheap parking, no line ups no blaring music you cant stand (as opposed to the King West scene). The VC quickly became our "go-to" place and we enjoy the classy atmosphere. We have also booked the private dining room to host an event (birthday). The food provided by Andrew the chef was not only amazingly delicious, but well priced, you cant get a meal like that for the value any where else in T.O... Whether you may be looking for wine storage, a place to meet people, a place to hang out after work/weekends, or a place to host corporate events, I think that this place caters to all and the proprietors to a great job in running the place.

This place has gone downhill very quickly once it became popular…read more When it started, it was cool and trendy because it was a neat concept, there were not too many members (it was secret), not too many corporate parties, pricing was reasonable and the owners were humble. Its exactly opposite now. For the smallest locker it costs ~$95/month to rent, (they charge you a 3% credit card fee) and there is a one time "initiation fee" of ~$75 as well. The location being on the east end near financial district is not ideal either. The number of corporate events have increased dramatically. Most weeknights esp. Wed, Thurs and Fri you would have some bank or financial institution having a client session in the lounge (note the lounge is not too big) and you would be expected to keep your voices down (or keep your little session with your friends to a minimum) because "there is an event going on". The whole premise of paying a premium for a private member's only club space is lost in my opinion. Secondly, when it started the owners (Andrew and Costa), were a lot more humble and nice which has again dramatically changed after the "success" of this place. They are planning to open a couple other locations as they see this as more of a money making business machine now (nothing wrong with that) vs. what they sold me on - a small family owned type wine club where you would feel personally connected and welcomed. Completely commercial outfit now. Its a great place if you want to hobnob with suits and old men.

The event-planner told us just as we had setup that we were to be seen and not heard. "Play something baroque that nobody will recognize." On that hands-offish request we did just that. On our breaks we got to sample the "economy" package booking cocktails and appys that came out of the kitchen. To be frank, they were BRUTAL. I would be upset if my supermarket re-heated, frozen package treats came out so poorly. I would have returned them for a refund! The bar selection was also the cheapest of the cheap disgusting booze that I can't afford to drink. (Yes... cheap booze = BLERGH) Now you might think a starving artist like myself needs to economize and take what he can get? Sadly no. I much prefer to save up and buy something I appreciate and go without during the saving-up phase. It's so much tastier and actually cheaper in the long run because every sip is cherished! I know NOTHING else of the facility, or the other food choices. But the receptionist was "off"... When we walked in we asked where the retirement party was. (There was only ONE event room booked at our time) And she had trouble understanding why we were there and where we should go. It took her about 7 minutes to figure out that we had to, "go up the 3 stairs and turn right". Will I be back? Not on my own dime!
