Opium Bar is all about providing quality and delicious Asian inspired tapas along with their unique cocktails. Located at Ossington & Dundas, this spot is perfect to chillax or catch up with friends. The restaurant is just right to accommodate large groups, but you would have to make a reservation as most of the seats are 2 seaters/bar seats. They have a lot of unique cocktails available to go with your meal, but if you want mocktails, you can get a customized one for just $5.50 too ~ If I had to say, all of the food I've tried was delicious, but here are some of my favorites. - Noodles ($11): Their soft Chinese cut ribbon styled noodles is topped with their in-house special beef paste. - Opium Chicken ($13): Their Taiwanese style chicken is seasoned well and made out of dark boneless meat that's marinated in their special recipe for hours. - Veggie and beef dumplings ($8.50 each): The dumplings are always made fresh in house without MSG. Getting them pan fried adds the perfect crispy texture! (+0.75). The owners who are usually working were very friendly to us. This micro bar is absolutely a hidden gem. We had a great time in the space with wonderful service. We all enjoyed the signature fried chicken which is blackened but very moist inside. The grilled octopus and ebi mayo were some of our other favorites as well. Many of us like the Honeydew cocktail while others liked the signature Opium. The place is small so plan to show up early or possible give them a shout for larger groups. They even have their own draft beer and specials during Raptor games. Very trendy bar / lounge restaurant downtown TO. Place isn't big but has a few tables for smaller parties but has plenty of bar seats. Inside decor is very warm and a perfect environment for a late night snack or drink. We ordered various dishes including Beef and Veggie Dumplings, Popcorn Chicken, Cold Spicy Noodles and Takoyaki. All dishes were very good. Dumplings were very tasty and not overly steamed. Typically not a huge fan of Takoyaki but this one was delicious. For once it wasn't just mushy but had solid texture with actual solid pieces of chewable squid. The signature gotta be there drink menu. Good selection of very unique custom cocktails that taste great and beautiful for pictures. Staff was cool and overall experience was more then expected. Good place for a relaxing chilled evening for drinks and snacks. read more

This cute restaurant/bar is nicely decorated and the owner Michael was very welcoming. We were so happy that we finally had the opportunity to try the food here, and was definitely impressed. The menu is not massive, but there is a good selection of food, even for different dietary restrictions (vegetarian). I had a great night out at The Opium Bar! Between their beautiful interior decor, delicious drinks and snacks- it's a bar you can get comfy in. It's funny because I originally came for the drinks and cocktails (which did not disappoint!) But what I fell in love with was their freshly made Shrimp Chips. We also had a second order of their Takoyaki because of just how good it was. They both paired well with my favorite cocktail, the Smoky Sakura- and they all looked even better in photo, lol. Hidden gem you won't want to miss! The Opium Bar was actually a place we found by a accident, later at night, after the kitchen was closed at the first place we went to. First perk of the night... parking is FREE here after 9pm! For us as visitors to Toronto, the constant parking fees get old quickly so this was much appreciated. Walked in and the owner, Mike, was manning the bar. He was super friendly and helpful with food and drink suggestions and even gave us tips on other places to try during our stay here. The ambiance inside the Opium Bar is really nice. Warm and inviting for grabbing a bite solo but also stylish enough for date night. Service is great, so you can rest assured you will be taken care of. The food and the drinks are VERY good. If you like Asian food, you'll love this place. You will find a lot of dishes here that small plate style, so you're able to sample several. The menu separates them by portion size...small, medium, large. We had the ebi mayo (large prawns, battered, with a sweet and slightly spicy mayo drizzle), the braised beef dumplings (savory with a great dipping sauce), and the BBQ octopus (smokey and a little spicy, great texture). We paired this with a blonde beer at Mike's suggestion and a 'honeydew' cocktail (tastes exactly as advertised, like honeydew ice cream---HIGHLY recommend if you have high standards for your cocktails). I'm so glad we found the Opium Bar! This little place recently opened and given the food, ambiance, and service, I see them blowing up in a big way in the near future. read more

What intrigued about this place was the Opium Fried Chicken which was made with activated charcoal which blackened the chicken. It was cool for the gram but the taste wasn't anything special as it tasted like any other the Taiwanese fried chicken. However, we did get the soup dumplings which was very tasty but be careful they are very juicy. We got a few cocktails too and they were decent, I suggest the one with Lychee if you are into sweeter cocktails and try The Opium which is a cocktail made with activated charcoal and turns its black. Again, good for the gram. We are got around 6:30 PM and they were just opening so it was pretty cool to have the place to ourselves and chat with the bartender. She was very courteous. A large group came in after us and they put the Raptors game on so I guess this could be a place for Game Night if you are into that. read more

It is a nice & sweet little bar with heavy chinese influence twist. My personal favourite has to be the beef dumplings we got, super juicy and each of these bad boys are filled up with beef! As for the drink, I got the mocktail option that the bartender recommended me, tons of lychee flavour just the way I like it. Scrumptious tapas-style food, delicious and unique beverages, great staff and a very cool atmosphere. There's only one or two tables available to accommodate large parties, so making reservations is probably the best way to guarantee getting a seat when you want. It's well worth it though, I will definitely be going back and am recommending it to all my friends. read more

I brought 3 of my friends here as I walked past this place a few days ago and thought it looked intriguing. We were surprised by how dismissive our server was. When I mentioned having a severe allergy when ordering, he even rolled his eyes at me. All of my friends noticed and it made us feel uncomfortable. We ordered popcorn chicken, noodles, shrimp chips, and edamame and cocktails. The food was decent and the cocktails were good but after sitting there for 2 and a half hours and talking w each other, the server only checked on us then. The rest of the time the server was checking on all other tables but seemingly avoiding ours, not even filling up our waters. The music is not hip and they had a basketball game playing on a projector. If this place made a few changes, they could be really popular and a fun place to hang at. However, my friends and I won't be returning because of the service or rather lack of service we experienced. read more

Wandering down Dundas West with a slight hunger approaching the dinner time, we came across this place advertising $5 pints of the house beer (an IPA or a Red Ale to choose from) between 5-8pm and decided to stop in to see what took over the building. Inside we found a quaint bar with a questionable mix of music, a Blue Jays game being broadcast on the back wall, and an interesting enough menu to settle in with. Minus the questionable playlist (which I recognize is highly subjective), the experience went well. Most of the menu is priced under $13 so it's easy to share and try a variety of things. We had the Vegetarian Dumplings, the Fried Chicken, and the Noodle dish. The Fried Chicken was our favourite, in part by the unique crusted skin but also the sweet aioli that came along with it. We had the dumplings prepared fried and they were also pretty good. The noodles were decent once a proper amount of hot sauce was added, although I'd prefer to see diced strips of beef instead of the ground meat they used. Overall, the food was good and the prices were reasonable and the service was friendly, so 4 stars it is! read more

The food here is actually pretty decent. However the absolutely cheap way they pour drinks is outrageous. Three of us ordered five different drinks and each time there was barely half a shot of liquor on it. Come on guys. It's a $13 cocktail. Go crazy and give a proper shot. This is unacceptable in Toronto. read more

This place is awesome. We had the dumplings, bao burgers, chicken wings and takoyaki. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend.

Came here on a whim and it was amazing. $5 beer special, can't beat that. I highly recommend the popcorn chicken and takoyaki.
