When traveling, I am always looking for a new speak easy to visit. I'm sorry it took 2 years to write this review. I came to Toronto Nov 2023 with two friends and my bf. This place was a bit hard to find, but that was part of the fun. This bar is supposed to mimic a train carriage and take you through an adventure of a lifetime while sipping on well crafted drinks. The waitress was such a doll, walking us through the menu, checking in to make sure everything tasted great. They gave us complimentary champagne to start. The ambiance of the place makes you really feel like you're in a train and forget the real world for a second. The drinks here are very well crafted and take time to make so be patient. Even the mocktails were yummy. C Suite is a hidden gem in the city and is located in the Yorkville neighborhood which is more upscale.

The decor is styled like a train carriage, designed to give customers a wonderful journey-like experience. The seating is spacious and comfortable, making it perfect for conversations. The staff is very attentive, refilling water patiently and explaining the bases and flavors of different cocktails for newcomers. They even offer custom options not listed on the menu. For example, as it was my first time trying cocktails, I asked for something with lower alcohol content and a bit more tartness. The bartender specially crafted a lemonade-based cocktail with rum as the base, and I was very pleased with it. Later, I also tried a grapefruit juice cocktail with a tequila base, which was equally delightful. As a first-time customer, I could truly feel the sincerity of the establishment, and I highly recommend this place to everyone.

4.3/5 C Suite is a hidden gem of a bar located in the upscale Yorkville neighborhood. With no signs pointing you in the right direction, it's a place that you'll have to rely on word of mouth to find. Once you step through the doors, you'll feel as though you've been transported back to the roaring 1920s. The interior is designed to resemble a train car, and there's jazz music playing in the background. When compared to Bar Chef, which is known for its visually stunning and innovative drinks, C Suite takes a more traditional approach to cocktail-making. The bartender, Albert, prefers to be called a "barman" rather than a "mixologist." He has extensive knowledge of the history of cocktails and alcohol, and he knows exactly how to blend different flavors to create the perfect drink. What makes Albert stand out is his unique approach to creating drinks. Rather than following recipes to the letter, he uses them as guidelines. For instance, different fruits have different acidity and sugar content, so he relies on his intuition to create the perfect taste. This means that he can't replicate drinks exactly, and if you visit often, he won't be able to make the same drink as the last time. On quieter nights, like Mondays, you can chat with Albert and learn more about him. He was part of the best bartender teams in Korea, and his team won first place among 150 bartenders. He believes that to truly stand out, you have to continuously improve yourself every night. However, being the best interfered with his personal life, so he decided to settle down in Canada after visiting once in 2002 and seeing how relaxed people were compared to the hectic work grind in Korea. Albert is a successful barman who has partnered with Masaki Saito, Toronto's first two Michelin-starred chef, for an event. He has also mingled with Song Kang-ho, who played the father in "Parasite," and Lee Jung-jae, who starred in "Squid Games." He is also a proud father, boasting about his son's incredible clarinet skills. The first drink Albert served me was the Diamond Fizz, made with gin, cava, lemon and lime, hand-crushed organic basil, simple syrup, and bitters. He also offered complimentary bubbly and truffle chips when I arrived, which was a nice touch. He explained the difference between a sour and a fizz, showing his passion and knowledge for his craft. He set a 20-minute timer for me to finish the drink, and as he was making it, he tasted and adjusted it at least ten times. Although he has no favorite drinks, he prefers whiskey-forward cocktails. If he doesn't like a drink himself, he would never serve it. The second drink I had was an Old Fashioned, made with Knob Creek Small Batch 9-year and Rittenhouse Straight Rye (75%/25% quantity, respectively). He then smoked it with a cigar-like device, which created a cool effect. The drink itself was incredibly smooth and probably one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had, second only to DCP. Overall, the experience was incredibly enjoyable, albeit a bit pricey. However, indulging in this kind of experience is worth it because you can truly appreciate the quality, and the theatrics of seeing Albert flip bottles and the knowledge he shares with you are well worth the cost

One of the best speakeasies we have been to (and we live in NYC)! The menu was easy to navigate as there were only 5 drinks during our visit (lounge reservation). When in doubt, always get old-fashioned. It was perfectly made with just enough smokiness. We also tried the diamond fizz, and it was delicious and refreshing (not as boozy tho). Food-wise, we had the miso cod (delicious) and the duck carpaccio (tasty but nothing to rave about). Service was friendly and attentive. We got to know Teresa, and she made our visit feel extra special! If given a choice, select the bar experience - you will experience some cool stuff from Albert. To find this place, look for the name of the speakeasy on the intercom next to the ice cream shop!

My experience here was amazing! The bar resembles a train and it's super cute inside. Everyone here was so nice and made our time here so fun and enjoyable. We had bar seating so you have to have conversations with the bartender to help him figure out what kind of drink to make! Every drink I had was exceptional! And the presentation was super nice. But overall, the bartender here made it such an amazing experience and we will most likely be coming back if we're back in Toronto again! This is a place I would highly recommend

The ambiance of the place is spectacular as well with a cool, library naturally, vibe. Good selection of drinks and great customer service. Fun facts: The Royal York Hotel opened in 1929. It hosted royalty, heads of state, and golden-age Hollywood legends like Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock when they were in town filming or staying upstairs in the hotel. Stepping inside is like time-traveling back decades, with velvet seating, brass accents, and dark, moody lighting. As soon as you walk into the Library Bar, the real centerpiece that grabs your attention is the massive oil portrait above the fireplace. That dignified gentleman watching you sip your drink is George Locke, the very first chief librarian of the Toronto Public Library. I love that a librarian is the patron saint of this bar! The drinks here aren't just cocktails; they're chapters in a story. The current menu, titled "Ink & Alchemy," is actually inspired by Michael Ondaatje's famous novel In the Skin of a Lion. Created by their award-winning mixologist James Grant, the menu is a tribute to the people who built this city: the immigrants, bridge-builders, thieves, and dreamers. You aren't just sipping a martini; you're drinking a liquid homage to Toronto's history.

I would just skip the steak as there was nothing special, i mean it's not a steakhouse but i'm a little sad. The sides were good. and the pizza was good too. It was a Sunday night , the day after Valentine's Day and it was packed. Good thing we had reservations. Despite how busy it was we were seated right away and our server Sarah was an absolute gem. Our drinks came out quickly and well made. They have a great wine list and we took advantage of it. So, ambience - check. Service - check. But it was the food that blew us away I started with the Wagyu carpaccio that emma's to die for. Just perfect with the crostinis. The my wife had the avocado bowl with salmon and I had the mushroom striploin. Both meals just freaking delicious- these folks have it down to a science and the food was off the charts. Some people may disagree because it's a chain restaurant but when they hit on all cylinders, which they have every time we've been there, it's awesome. Cactus Club - highly highly recommended. Ask for Sarah - she is amazing.

Ambiance: Stunning from the moment you walk in. Despite the soaring ceilings and two-level layout, the space still feels intimate thanks to the dim, romantic lighting. We loved being seated beside each other rather than across from one another, an option I appreciated compared to the large half-moon booths in the centre of the room. Tables line the perimeter and upper level, while small trees with twinkling lights frame the booths, adding a whimsical, almost magical touch. A window displaying the cuts of steak was a fun and enticing detail. Appetizers & Mains: Every bite impressed. The seafood atop each piece of nigiri was incredibly fresh and buttery, literally melting in your mouth. The lobster mashed potatoes were an indulgent and unforgettable accompaniment to the perfectly tender steaks, which were thoughtfully presented tableside before cooking. Dessert: We saved room (and I'm so glad we did!) My cheesecake arrived beautifully plated with a candle and birthday message, while my boyfriend enjoyed the butter cake. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to the meal. Service: Every team member we encountered went above and beyond to make the evening feel special, but a heartfelt shout-out goes to our charming server, Vig. He was attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in ensuring each moment felt intentional and unique. He also shared enticing reasons to return for lunch, happy hour, and weekend brunch (options we had no idea the restaurant offered). Thoughtful Touches: From coat check, a welcome birthday cocktail, a personalized birthday card from the staff, to complimentary bubbly with dessert, every detail was thoughtfully considered. Both of us work in the area and will absolutely be spreading the word with our teams. I left feeling like a very lucky lady after such a memorable birthday celebration. We can't wait to return!

On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
