We stopped by after dinner on a Thursday night around 10pm and were able to get a table right away. We were able to find free residential parking nearby. The inside is on the dark side with a handful of tables and a small bar. Our server was lovely. Every drink we had here was well balanced and well executed. I was very impressed and would come back! read more

Best atmosphere and unexpected hit cocktail for this #8 on the best of North America's '26 bars. My fave stop on our Toronto weekend where we hit 4 of these caliber cocktail bars. Food: 5 Cocktails: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no reservations taken Return worthiness: yes Highlights: - Best vibes: fun party music like MJ, Prince, and a huge variety of upbeat hits. - Croque Monsieur: delectable. So cheesy and craveable. Cut in 3 convenient strips for snacking. 5 stars - Cornichon martini: wasn't sure about it, but gave it a try and loved it. Briney tangy smooth boozy chilled goodness in a glass. 5 stars - Kitchen is always open: love that - Small place with some tables in front and a short bar up a step in the back Midlights: - Our waitress was super fun but disappeared but someone else came to help us for subsequent rounds eventually Lowlights - No reservations take so you gotta take a chance to see if they have space (we got lucky late on a Saturday for 2) read more

Overall: 5 stars Casually upscale bar on a bustling Toronto street that is on the list of Top 50 Best Bars on the World. Since Toronto was having heavy rainfall, we were able to walk in around 6:30p without any wait at all (since they don't take reservations). The drinks were creative, high quality, and well executed, so this is a strong recommend from me! Nancy's Treat - Beautifully refreshing cocktail that captures the flavors of the garden from the strawberry to the rhubarb. A pleasant drink that is pleasant on the palette, with a clear sophisticated block ice etching. My wife and I returned to Bar Pompette for our second visit last Saturday night (out of towners) while on vacation. As with our first visit, we were loving the "disappearing" ice cubes they love to use in their cocktails as well as the interesting items they like to come up with (e.g. turning one of their bakery's cinnamon bun's into a drink infusion). The bar is a little on the tight side and not a ton of seating or space and in both instances the staff seemed a little more reserved than conversational or even personable. It was also fairly loud despite the relatively low number of people too. Overall, the drinks were pretty good but I didn't really think they were great. I feel like they were almost trying too hard to come up with something new and edgy instead of trying to hit some more of those flavor bombs. This time around, I got the Oh La Vache #3 and the Bakery Punch. Last time, I got the Nitro Colada. All 3 all kind of fell into this category of "pretty good but not really blowing me away." Especially for the elevated price point compared to other cocktail bars. It's definitely cool to check out the interesting things they're doing but I feel like there's better value elsewhere around the city. read more

When I read that Bar Pompette was considered one of Toronto's best bars, I knew we'd be heading there sooner rather than later. We showed up around 6:00 on a recent Friday and the place was about half full, so we easily snagged a nice table in the middle of the restaurant. I was intrigued by all of their cocktails, but obviously I had to get the Cornichon ("cornichon pickle distillate, gin, dry vermouth, dill oil"). It arrived a short time later and really looked promising. And my first sip proved that it tasted as good as it looked. It definitely had a pickle flavor, but not in an overpowering way. I really loved this drink. We also tried a few food items, but since their menu isn't online, I can't describe them as accurately as I'd like. We started with some sourdough bread that was definitely way above average. We also got this pickled mussel dish that really impressed me, while the croque monsieur was about as good as it gets in terms of that venerable French sandwich. The service was friendly and helpful, too. Yeah, I don't think it's a stretch to call Bar Pompette one of the city's best watering holes. read more

Presentation can be impressive. That's the way it was for my cocktail, Nitro Colado which had pineapple, coconut, curry leaf falernum, white rum and nitrogen. It had an elongated ice cube ( they make their own ice that is clear ) that did take up a good portion on the glass. I thought the drink was elegant and classy upon being delivered to the table. I like the contents of the liquid not so much how the ice dominated a fair portion of the glass. I also had the Croquet-Monsieur which I thought could have used a little more ham. This is a cozy bar and would think it would be good for date night. Service was very good. A nice experience. read more

Highest ranked cocktail bar in Canada lives up to the hype. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Are they all bangers? no, the subtle ones aren't really my thing, my wife thought the same. But it is absolutely worth the price and a perfect location to start the night. read more

Walked in after seeing it make the top 50 bars list in North America. I ordered the Palm Street. Very alcohol forward. I didn't expect it from the description. There was a slight pandan taste, but I was overwhelmed with the taste of alcohol. I should've asked the waiter, but I was seated outside. read more

Ordered: Nitro Colada (~CAD$20): pineapple, coconut, curry leaf falernum, white rum, nitrogen Pursuit of Hoppyness (~CAD$12): non-alcoholic; passionfruit, yuzu, tonic, sencha, citra hops Aya's take: Bar Pompette made it to #29 on North America's 50 Best Bars 2024 list and we decided to give it a try while we were in town. Only 3 bars on the list are in Toronto and I'm so glad we happen to be close to Bar Pompette. The ambiance is really cool; classic vibe with some retro art and books throughout. The Nitro Colada (~CAD$20) is by far one of the best crafted and most unique cocktails I've ever had. This is one of the first times I can say the price is actually well-justified! The Nitro Colada is light, creamy, and silky. It's like drinking a cloud - I don't know how else to explain it. If they sold that by the bottle, I would buy it. The Pursuit of Hoppyness was pretty solid and can be made alcoholic, as well. It didn't really stand out to me too much in terms of taste but I'm a fan of passionfruit so I knew I couldn't go wrong. If you're in Toronto, definitely come to Bar Pompette and definitely get the Nitro Colada! read more

A cool, laidback and chill vibe. The drinks were very expensive but the staff made up for it. If you like cocktails, go there.

Bar Pompette is a must - go! I'm from Vegas & have been to many cocktail bars. We were at Bar Raval and it wasn't our vibe so we found this area that had a lot of great reviews about their drinks. This is the best cocktail bar we've been to!! Not only are the cocktails delicious but they're different & unique. There's something for everyone which is nice. It's strictly a cocktail bar so no food or anything else to be expected. Nick is the bartender and he is super knowledgeable and friendly. I went to the restroom and saw my cocktail was gone. He put my cocktail in the fridge so it wouldn't get warm - service is just top notch! Would highly recommend this place any night you're free! This place opened in 2022 so fairly new but it's definitely a local bar. However, it's only a 10-15 min uber ride and totally worth it! read more

We stopped here for a cocktail after dinner. From the street, this place definitely looks cute. But once you step inside... it gets even cuter. BUT! go enjoy your cocktail on their back patio. It was literally the most charming patio I've seen in a while. Okay so besides the ambiance, they have a cocktail menu with many different, unique cocktails. We had a hard time choosing. We finally found some cocktail and placed our order. The service was amazing as well. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a cocktail, check this place out! They also have outdoor heaters in the patio around for when the weather gets cooler. read more

This is a fantastic cocktail bar right in Little Italy! Amazing drinks selection, all curated with unique flavours and ingredients. They have snacks you can order as well - I had the ricotta which came with bread and was super tasty. Wish I took photos of the drinks! I tried the Hive Mind, the Paloma Quemada, and the Peat and Pit. They were all super tasty but the Paloma was definitely memorable and had a really nice blend of flavours. Service was lovely and friendly too. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend! read more

This place was recommended by another bartender at a restaurant and we walked in. They had a great cocktail menu. The server was very attentive and friendly, he was really cool and gave great descriptions for each drink. Music was hip hop. Wish it could've been played a little louder and we did ask but were told they had neighbors upstairs which is fair. The vibe was cute and intimate. A good date spot. We were ready to go back the next day to try other drinks. They were very solid drinks - amazing cocktails. read more

very cute & warm space to go on a self date or catch up with friends! bartenders are also so lovely & great to chat with.

I went to this bar based on all the hype online. It's a small knit place with limited seating, but very cozy nonetheless. We sat at the bar, because I find you get the best experience when you watch the mixologists do their work. The drinks were good, the people sitting next to us were obnoxiously loud (I get it's a bar and all). The espresso martini = 10/10 read more

Bar Pompette is a gorgeous French cocktail bar with the coziest back patio. Surrounded by tall walls and gigantic fairy-light lined trees, stepping out the back makes you feel like you've stumbled into an intimate secret, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cocktails were all fantastic. We tried most of the drinks on the menu that night and they were all top tier. One of the standouts is the silky Nitro Colada, a beautifully executed elevated Pina Colada. 11 am in Marseille was also phenomenal. The service was very professional and courteous. The small bites were delicious. This is the perfect date spot to take someone you really like. Highly recommend. read more

There must be an inside joke somewhere about the name being replaced by pompous :) We liked the location and the patio so we tried it. Couldn't get out fast enough. The cocktails come in sample size glasses. The flatbread that says it has smoked eggplant, is actually a pita bread with a brown sauce on it and THAT is all the "Aubergine" that you're getting. The staff with their exaggerated french accents, although friendly, judge you if you just get drinks and appetisers but it's fine, because Casa Paco is right across the street and I rather take my money and appetite there read more

Tasted great, perfect balance of tart, honey and fizziness. Topped with elder flowers. Good place to go to after a night at The Royal (right across) or their sister restaurant Pompette (great French cuisine) right around the corner. read more
