One of my favourite Italian restaurants in the city. Always consistently delicious with generous portions and fair prices. My go to is the mushroom parpadelle and I get it with less dairy - the team is always super accommodating of dietary restrictions and preferences, something that unfortunately is rare in a lot of Italian restaurants. Checked out Ferro bar with friends recently. So glad we did. Things to know. - highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekends (it's hopping on a Saturday night) - parking is on street or side street. (Green P) or go via TTC street car. Loved the lasagna here. One of the best I've had in the city (I had the one with bolognese sauce). Note - believe it's a special on the weekends. I used to live in the neighbourhood and Ferry was easily one of my top 3 restaurants. The food is so good I drool just thinking about it. They have some of the best pizzas I've had in the city. The flavour combinations are just incredible. I love that they have different lasagna creations every night. Our go to would always be the lasagna and a pizza and split. The tiramisu is so good too and they give you a nice hearty piece. We typically got take out and ate at home, but once in awhile we'd go in person. If there's one thing they can improve on, it's the service. It's always pretty spotty and takes awhile to get noticed. read more

Ferro has some dishes that are best-in-the-city level. The pear and prosciutto pizza had a great salty-sweet tastes, generous toppings and a soft-chewy crust. The magic mushrooms lived up to the billing as they somehow made mushrooms and crostini taste mindblowingly good with its garlic seasoning and great crunch. And the tiramisu was velvety smooth and melted in your mouth. Other dishes we got were ok. The octopus had a generous serving of tasty veggies but would have liked more of the octopus itself. The spaghetti ala marinara had good seafood (especially liked the scallop) but would have liked the sauce to have a bit more kick. Service was efficient. Prices were generally reasonable for the taste and portion sizes. Place had a casual vibe. Will definitely go back to try more of their pizzas and sink into that tiramisu again. read more

Absolutely love the food here! The truffle pasta is really good. The ingredients are fresh and they use fresh pasta. The pesto pasta is very good as well . Prices are very reasonable. Small selection of wine. Tiramisu is a must. This is a very homey italian restaurant, not pretentious at all. Service was great. We arrived around opening on a weekend and it was empty. I find it weird eating in a restaurant that's totally empty, it's a bit awkward but nothing they can do about that. We went based on instagram photos and tbh I wish I had seen Yelp reviews first. The food was just meh - not bad but not great. The pastas were nothing special, same with the pizza. Lovely food and gorgeous atmosphere. Staff are friendly and the environment felt very lovely. One thing I felt was the staff were somewhat rushing us, but I understand there are time limits. I would say this is a 3.5 not a 4 star. The restaurant was nice inside, had a very romantic atmosphere and lighting was warm which I liked. We got the octopus, mussels, hot honey pizza , diavola pizza, calamari and penne alla vodka. The octopus was good but it came played with a whole bunch of extra stuff that I didn't like. The actual octopus was cooked to perfection though. I loved the hot honey pizza, the combination of the sweet and spicy was perfect for me. However, we noticed the diavola was also sweet, which typically diavola is not meant to be sweet, so that came as a surprise, not a good surprise though. The penne alla vodka was very good and creamy, however the calamari was average. The showstopper was the mussels though, I loved it. The mussles were very fresh and the sauce did not distract from the freshness of the mussles. It was perfect. They also brought my dad our a tiramisu with a candle for this birthday, which was so special and sweet. The tiramisu was very nice too. read more

Been here a couple of times and both times I got the Calabrese bianco pasta (sausage, garlic, rapini with olive oil sauce). The pasta was delicious and had leftovers for lunch the next day. We also tried the octopus appetizer which came with a SCRUMPTIOUS veggie salsa type of sauce and we made sure to clean that plate. My husband had a beef special with polenta and we were not impressed with either :( both severely lacked flavour. The charcuterie board was good but was missing a sweet element, like a honey or a jam. The second time I brought a friend and her pesto pasta was really good! Just the right level of garlicky. The ambiance was super cute and just the kind of place you want to take a date on or catch up with a friend. As it got later at night, I noticed the bar gearing up but didn't check it out. This has been our favourite Toronto restaurant since they opened more than 30 years ago. It was always a 5 star restaurant for us. Unfortunately, due to excessive garlic, they have lost a star. Ferro's tomato sauce has always been the star of the show but now you can't even taste tomatoes. The sauce that comes with the margherita calzone is so overwhelmed by garlic that even after rinsing, we had to throw it out. We just had their pasta pomodoro and although it wasn't quite as garlicky as the calzone sauce, I couldn't finish it. The GARLIC sauce is all I could taste for hours. We ask Ferro to please use the wonderful sauce that they prepared for years, and if guests really want to be slapped in the face with garlic, perhaps Ferro could add an extra garlic option to their drop down menu add-ons. Worst Service Ever. I was so excited to visit Ferro as I've been following them on Instagram for years and their food looks mouth watering. As we ordered a bottle of wine the bartender spilled it all over the glass, put a napkin under it and left...We were wearing white so we then cleaned up his mess. Server only attended us when we told the host we needed the server. We ordered the octopus and caesar as appetizers - octopus was all salt and the caesar was the worst. Where we were seated we can see in the kitchen and water was spewing all over the floor from the drain...We then ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and Basil Pesto Burrata Spaghetti. The rigatoni was dry and the basil pesto spaghetti was swimming in sauce.... When we paid for the bill they called us back because they forgot to charge us for the wine. The mussels cooked in wine tasted like they were not cooked in wine, but steamed in water with a wine sauce poured on top. This resulted in zero flavour of the actual mussels. The food wasn't bad, but the hygiene was terrible. My friend and I came July 9th at the tail end of salsa on st. Claire. I went to the bathroom. No toilet paper, no soap. Even asked 2 employees to restock. Nothing. So used my hand sanitize (btw e.cold isn't killed with sanitizer as it's spores so has to be washed off). Walked past the kitchen and it just looked dirty and I had a bad feeling. Anyway, stupidly ended up staying, ignoring my gut feeling and we had food. At around 3 am woke up with horrible nausea and stomach pain. My friend vomited twice. Totally disgusting and unhygienic place. OVERT BLATANT RACISM EXPERIENCED HERE TODAY. OVERT RACISM occurred at this restaurant. I am absolutely DISGUSTED with the behaviour I am a mixed race-black 25 year old woman who visited this restaurant on my birthday with my mom. We didn't have a reservation, We walked in. The owner told us he had no seating for 2 people. He offered the bar or a tiny table right in front of the door. We declined as people come in & out and the door opens and blows freezing cold wind in. We ordered take out and we're waiting Not long after a white couple came in with their probably 5 month old baby. They said the EXACT same thing as us. They did not have a reservation and were walking in. He offered them a much nicer table and even offered to get them a table in the back. I asked him why we weren't offered the same thing. He started to stutter and get defensive and say they were a bigger party of people. (lol the 5 month old who can barley eat food counted....) he also said he offered us that table and that it was no different than sitting at the bar. We disagreed. He began to get irritated. My mom asked if he was racist and he began to get angry and raised his voice and said he was offended and that it was an insult. we asked AGAIN why we were not offered the same. He continued to become extremely defensive and angry. We said we call it how we see it and this was unfair. This man is racist. My 7 year old daughter is ceiliac. I i formed the waitress multiple times. Half way through my daughters dinner she started to feel severely unwell. When i asked the waitress she confirmed that the pasta was not gluten free and barely apologized. My daughter is severely ill this evening and the restaurant still had the nerve to charge foe the rest of the meal which was two appetizers. The owner of this restaurant should be ashamed to have staff speak to a mother in front of her child in this manner, We would like to advise the general public to avoid visiting or spending their money in this restaurant. The food was great, the blonde server was fantastic and she made the evening. Diego was a gentleman but at the end of the day, who wants to deal with rude, arrogant staff that will curse at women and children. Please avoid this establishment we won't be returning to this restaurant to eat, there were about 15 empty seats at the back maybe if they had the right personnel in place they would have been at capacity. So i had bookmarked this place and promised myself id go like 8 times & try everything on their menu cause man do I love me some Italian food. Tonight was my first time there .. lets start LET ME TELL YOU. The BEST decision in my food life, was choosing the magic mushrooms for the appetizer . They are an orgasmic MUST. & i will no doubt order that every time I come. I got the fusilli as the main , realllly good, & I love my food well salted but it was a tad too salty for me. One of the few premium Italian restaurants that at least from a delivery perspective sufficiently fill the take away containers with enough food to leave most adults full. I ordered the "Lasagna MARGHERITA al forno" off UberEats. The lasagna tasted rotten and it was completely inedible for me.

Can I just say what an absolute terrible experience!!! Not only did I order about 70 bucks worth of food, I couldn't even eat it! I ordered take out and was told it would be ready in 40 minutes. So I picked up my order came home (which is 5 minutes away) and it was disgusting! The chicken was hard like it was under the heat lamp for like half hour and still Had some blood. They gave me the wrong side, the wrong order of bread, burnt potatoes. Like come on! I called back requesting a refund and the supervisor was apologetic but I was told they are not allowed to issue refunds and the owner would call me in the morning. A week later and I'm still waiting! Talk about poor customer service and professionalism. Looks like that's the last time I ever grab anything from that place.
