    Lamb chop
    Marry Ann Z.

Good vibes and good food and very friendly staff. We come here maybe twice every summer and always have a positive experience. We were there last week and I tried the lamb chop and the only complaint I have is that it was small. It was pretty and tasty, but for the price it was just one chop which was mostly bones. So I left the restaurant still feeling hungry. The salads are really good. And the two gentlemen running the place were crazy busy but still very attentive. Overall I think this is one of my favorite places in the neighbourhood.

Deep fried kale that came under the seared salmon entree. I did specify "no oil".

For a $28 entree, it was poorly done. I got the Seared Salmon that came with "baby kale, garlic, red chili and olive oil". I asked for "no oil, or as little as possible". Firstly, they deep-fried the kale and it came sitting in a pool of grease. I couldn't eat it. There were one or two tiny potatoes, green beans and carrots -- also cooked in oil and sitting in a pool of it. The salmon was over-cooked and cold by the time it arrived. It didn't have much flavour, though there were herbs on top. The last bite tasted of rosemary, which was nice. It was seared as described, but overdone and leathery. I have no way to tell if it was organic as advertised. There was no red chili. No biggie, but the description on STD could be updated as it was only about 50% correct. I won't return due to inability to follow instructions, poor treatment of the food, and more grease than if I had bought McDonalds.

What I've stared at for an hour on Valentine's Day :(

We had the beef carpaccio and bufala caprese which was really good. The beef carpaccio was super fresh and paired great with the arugula and Parmesan. I wasn't a fan of the bufala caprese since it was still quit watery. I liked the house theme of the restaurant, it feels like you're going to your friends house lol. A friend who is killing it when it comes to adulting. A very very rare friend ;) Valentine's Day was extremely busy and most people around us told us they had been waiting for their main course for 2.5 hours. It wasn't that bad for us but I did notice that despite our reservation we still had to stand and wait for 40-45 mins. We were quick to decide on food and ordered the apps and mains in one go... that might be why we got our mains within 1.5 hrs which is faster than the others lol. The Hispanic guy at front was a delight and he made the wait less dreadful (we were starving all day looking forward to eating dinner here)... My main was delicious though, I had ordered the spinzetta & tagliatelle with beef, it was creamy and hearty and I really really enjoyed it. It made me forgive the wait.... The Wild mushroom black truffle risotto was way too garlicky and the rice was still a bit hard (not chewy, it was crunchy). Not ordering the risotto again.... I wasn't a fan of the squid ink pasta with black cuttle fish, the smell was too fishy and the two lobster tails were very dry and gamey..... Btw the wait for food was long because I think the owner is the chef. I also think there is only one chef who does the actual cooking while the sous chefs do the smaller tasks.

Great experience. The restaurant has great ambience and is very clean. The food was great as was the service. We enjoyed the pasta and T by E deserts. Will definitely go back.

    Shrimp appetizer, so good!

Pasta is amazing! Octopus so tasty. I would avoid their pizzas as not thin crust however their salads and pastas were tasty.

Nestled on Queen East, its warm, wood-fired vibe makes every visit special. The Favorites We kicked things off with their saffron‑kissed Arancini--bite‑sized spheres of rice and smoked mozzarella, godsends dipped into bright tomato-marinara and pesto. Next came the Pizzano pizza: a perfectly blistered crust layered with pepperoni, Calabrian chilies, fior di latte, hot honey drizzle, and aged Parmigiano--an addictive balance of sweet‑heat and savory richness. The pillowy Gnocchi arrived next--smothered in butternut squash purée, earthy wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, sage brown‑butter, and a final snow of Parmigiano. And the Fritto Misto was a crunchy delight: lightly breaded shrimp, calamari, scallops, all perked up with zesty lemon‑caper aioli. Setting the Tone We started with cocktails, which hit the right note--elegant, balanced, and a little unexpected. They added a celebratory lift that carried right into the meal. Service was smooth and welcoming, striking that hard-to-nail mix of polish and warmth.

As I commute from the Durham region on weekdays, Friday is the only day that opens later time (7:30), and I finally got the chance to try the food on a Friday afternoon! I bought - Olive loaf - Croissant (plain)] - Fig tart - Pear tart - Pâté en croute The olive loaf had a loooot of olives in it. It tastes great by itself, but I dipped it in good olive oil and balsamic. Great!!! The croissant was light, airy, and flaky. Nice butter flavor follows the bite. Fig tart and pear tart had a lot of fruits in them, not too sweet, which I appreciated. They do not cover the taste up with cream fillings and extract the ingredients' character and best texture/flavors/tastes. Also had a good buttery kick! Pate en croute has a lovely looking. The color of cranberries and pistachio makes it look festive & gorgeous. This savory food comes with slices of pickles which had a naturally sour, gentle flavor, which gave it a refreshing spike. They had a lot of wines as well, if you are a wine lover, you want to check this place out. They had beers as well for a beer lover like me :) Of course, I got a can of IPA from Merit brewery in Hamilton. I have never seen it before at any LCBO around here, excited! I hope to have a chance to visit here again sometime soon!

This must be the place!…read more Our first trip to Toronto and boy did we have fun. From delicious food to sipping wine, and everything in between, Toronto was a city to explore. Ladybug Wine Bar is a cute but also sophisticated wine bar located on King Street, steps away from shopping and restaurants. We stopped in here on a snowy Sunday before our flight home. They also serve Sunday Brunch. We grabbed a few open seats at the comfy bar. They do not offer wine flights, which made this experience pretty darn expensive but SOOOO worth it. We had such a fun time and the people working were so nice, we honeslty did not want to leave. They were willing to help with our selections. We actually ordered all their Reds by the glass. I know, but there were only about 6 and we had to try them all. I like to say "go big or go home" LOL! We loved almost all except for maybe a few. We ended up also ordering a charcuterie while we sip. And of course I brought a bottle home with me. If you are ever in Toronto, please check out Ladybug wine bar, it is fantastic, you won't want to leave. Cheers!

We started with some drinks which were super affordable compared to other brunch places. The espresso martinis weren't too sweet and had the perfect balance. Service was nice and the place was cozy/bright. Highly recommend this spot for a girls' brunch or casual date.

Golden Pigeon occupies the space where Ben Wicks used to be, which is below street level with stairs in the front. Inside it is fairly dark with various games situated on the left/south side of the venue, and when I walked around inside I noticed a shelf with board games at the wall on the north side. I wasn't planning on staying late so I only ordered one beer (Devil's Pale Ale from Great Lakes Brewery) but everyone else with me ordered food and beer including desserts; the food all looked and smelled quite nice to me and the consensus from my friends was that their choices were quite enjoyable. My beer was quite good too and their draft menu features a wide variety of quality beers on offer. The prices for both food and beer are pretty standard for the type of venue this is. Our service was fairly prompt and quite friendly; there were 2 skee ball games not too far from where we sat, one or both of which were frequently played by others while we were there. They were loud enough to make conversation a little more difficult so I took a star off of my rating for that. Being a German Beer Hall styled venue, I do understand that the overall 'ambiance' conveyed will be loud and somewhat boisterous. By the time I left around 9:30 pm it was somewhat more crowded inside while the patio had largely cleared. I quite enjoyed my first visit to Golden Pigeon and I hope to revisit before too long to have a different beer and maybe some food.
