    Almond croissants

Absolutely one of the best bakeries in the city - hands down, no questions asked. I love the pastries at this place, they are so full of butter, but at the same time so crisp. Their almond croissants are so crispy but chewy and are generously topped with sliced almonds. Their pain au chocolate is so delightfully crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. Their apple pastries are delicious (and use real apples, since they do not peel the skin) and their raisin breads are crisp and sugary. Eating at this place gives me a sugar high sometimes. Their baked bread is another thing to enjoy - I absolutely love the crispiness of their baguettes and breads and on the inside, it's always light and fluffy. I usually buy one loaf and it lasts me a few days because of just how much their is! A gem in the city. Can't wait for the next time I get to go back.

Came here for take out after a yoga class down the street. The place was slightly easily to miss I almost passed it as the storefront is quite small. I had my stroller and it just fit myself and stroller into the store. However the staff did help me with the step up and they were so accommodating with showing me all their daily offerings and what was recommended for a mid day snack. I ended up getting the beef terrine, a sandwich and a latte to go to eat at home. I heated up the items at home and WOW I was blown away by the flavors of everything I had. Will definitely be going back for take out or dine in again soon & highly recommend to all.

BOTTOM LINE: A work in progress, but I love it. +1 to another cool east end spot. I usually try to dine at a place a few times before writing a review about them, but I feel the need to get the word out. From the owners of Jules Cafe Patisserie on Mount Pleasant Road, comes this cute French cafe/diner in the ever-developing east end of Downtown. The owners are so lovely and friendly, and although it doesn't look like they have a full kitchen (yet), it's very obvious they love making food for the sake of it! At its simplest, it's a cafe that comes with a brunch menu (more on this in a sec). You have your usual coffees and teas, and their pastries and quiches are made at Jules and delivered here. They offer an option of a ROASTED MARSHMALLOW HOT CHOCOLATE, which can be just the thing to warm you up. They do offer brunch, but it would be an understatement to say that seating is a premium! Including two tiny high tables, which you could forcibly fit a third, they have two regular tables that, again, you could forcibly fit a third! I saw a sign that on Saturday nights, they host dance parties here - I'm not sure how you can fit more than 10-15 people here, but I would love to drop by some time. Their brunch offerings including CROQUE MONSIEURS and CROQUE MADAMES, which I thought were made really fresh ingredients. Did I also mention, their plating is exquisite and really gives this place a, shall we say, je ne sais quoi. Finally, on weekend nights, they offer a reservation-only prix fixe (that includes wine pairings) for approximately $100 (plus or minus depending on the exact menu). They also seem to organize other special nights and collaboration with other places and wineries, so that would seem like a fun thing to check out as well.

Such a cute French bakery! This fig tart was delicious, but their kouignamann was absolute heaven! The owner even taught us how to say the word properly, ahahah. 10/10!

Nestled on Queen East, its warm, wood-fired vibe makes every visit special. The Favorites We kicked things off with their saffron‑kissed Arancini--bite‑sized spheres of rice and smoked mozzarella, godsends dipped into bright tomato-marinara and pesto. Next came the Pizzano pizza: a perfectly blistered crust layered with pepperoni, Calabrian chilies, fior di latte, hot honey drizzle, and aged Parmigiano--an addictive balance of sweet‑heat and savory richness. The pillowy Gnocchi arrived next--smothered in butternut squash purée, earthy wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, sage brown‑butter, and a final snow of Parmigiano. And the Fritto Misto was a crunchy delight: lightly breaded shrimp, calamari, scallops, all perked up with zesty lemon‑caper aioli. Setting the Tone We started with cocktails, which hit the right note--elegant, balanced, and a little unexpected. They added a celebratory lift that carried right into the meal. Service was smooth and welcoming, striking that hard-to-nail mix of polish and warmth.

Server was friendly and even brought out some chocolates at the end of our meal after having overheard my friend and I talking about her birthday. We got the house wine, which was on the sweeter side but I loved it. We also got the grilled focaccia, burrata, Argentinian shrimp, ravioli, and tonarelli. The focaccia was 3 big pieces and not very oily, which was nice. The burrata looked like only half a burrata but came with this praline crumble, which was delicious. The Argentinian shrimp was my favorite dish - it had Asian flavors with a dominant ginger flavor. The ravioli had massive amounts of walnuts on it and was like having dessert pasta. I wish it had come out at the end, but we ended with the tonarelli, which had a nice salty seafood flavor with the clams. There's not a whole lot of clams in it but it had great flavor. I'd definitely come back for their meat dishes next time.

Although we noticed most tables ordered their Olives & Focaccia bread appies...we decided to dive into something different: Hokkaido scallop (3.5/5)- refreshing with a mild cucumber and strawberry taste complimenting the sea scallopy flavours. Ontario zucchini (3.5/5) - another refreshing appie that plays homage to what's in season. Very light flavours, a bit of lemon, ricotta & pine nuts for interest. Broccoli and cashew butter (5/5) - love all the flavours, components & textures with this one. Especially with that Parmesan crisps! Corn & Bacon jam Agnolotti (5/5) - the corn...IT'S GOT THE JUICE! Pockets of pure sweet corn bliss wrapped in thin beautifully done pasta. Stunning colours in this dish. Campanelle & lamb sausage (4/5) - loved this savoury pasta dish, nice contrast to the sweeter corn pasta we had. Everything worked well together and the nuttiness of the arugula balanced it. Vanilla cheesecake with Shiso (5/5) - the lightest fluffiest cheesecake and I enjoyed the refreshing shiso mouse separately as well. I also appreciated their dishes were priced reasonably and didn't cost an astronomical amount! Looking forward to coming back already.

Very solid place that one probably had a similar experience if they went there 20 years ago…read more I had the moussaka and it was just what I wanted. The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The other parts didn't jump out, but were still perfectly good. The service was very attentive.

Having had moussaka ($33.95) at more chain-like Greek restaurants, Pantheon's version is lighter…read moreand fresher tasting. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.

I read so many good feedback about beef tartare($17) but unfortunately I did not even notice that it was mixed with salted egg york until I read it on the menu later on.
