A good friend of mine took me here for lunch. It came highly recommended by his friend. The cafe look very cozy. We ordered the following Florentine Crepe 10/10 Benny longanisa 9/10. This came with a side of potatoes and small salad A side order of French toast. 8/10 I couldn't decide between the crepe and french toast but the waitress was gracious enough to recommend getting the french toast on the side for $5 only so went for it. We were actually in the area for a different restaurant, but when it turned out that the joint was closed, we had to come up with a second option. DeCourses, which I hadn't heard of, was nearby and boasted plenty of positive reviews, so it seemed like a good alternative. We arrived before noon and the place was packed, so we wound up waiting maybe 10 minutes for a table. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but I eventually landed on the Duck Confit Benny. It turned out to be unavailable, sadly, so I quickly pivoted to the Bacon Benny ("bacon, baked butter croissants, 2 poached eggs, hollandaise, seasoned potatoes, greens"). I didn't know what to expect from a Benny that substitutes croissants from the traditional English Muffins, but I'm a complete convert now. This is one tasty dish. All the components work really well, including the delicious hollandaise and smoky bacon, but it's those freshly-baked croissants that tie the whole thing together. The seasoned potatoes perfectly complemented the dish, too. (The underdressed greens were the one weak point, ultimately.) I can see why DeCourses was so busy when we arrived. Loved everything about this place! The drinks were phenomenal, especially if you get them with oatmilk. The food was great. The Benny with avocado was soft and flavorful since they use a croissant as the base and top it with creamy hollandaise sauce. The ambience was wonderful, very much cute cafe brunch vibes. The interior is a bit small so I wouldn't go with a large party of 5 or more. I wouldn't get the french toast again since it was quite dry and made with a baguette that was hard to bite through. The food was pretty good! Those pinoy sausages were the best thing to have on a croissant eggs Benedict. I could have done without the salad. I don't mind greens, but they were flavourless and only came with like 2 strawberry slices and 2 pecans and like 0 dressing. Maybe a bit more hollandaise, to dip those bomb potatoes into. The iced latte was good but I don't know if those black flecks were espresso particles or vanilla beans from the syrup. I like the atmosphere a lot, and the masala chai latte was really good. I know they're hard working young people who are often overwhelmed by the numbers they serve, but I didn't love the wait time (felt like I waited 25 minutes, saw people who arrived after me get their food before me. Came here on a whim and can say this is now going to be one of my favourites! I got the 9" breakfast sandwich with a matcha latte (with coconut milk), and it was extremely delicious! The bread was fresh baked there, and was toasted perfectly with the perfect balance of cheese:egg:meat ratio. The latte was pretty good too, and my boyfriend got an iced cold brew with vanilla and it was also very good (it didn't have that artificial vanilla taste come flavoured coffees have). The prices were also very reasonable, as two hefty sized meals and two drinks (I also added avocado and customized my drink) only came to a bit over 30 bucks. The atmosphere was also nice and seemed very clean inside. It was also neat that the kitchen where they prepare food was out in the open so you could see them making it. I can see what they're trying to do here. Cute hipster cafe, a variety of menu items you would more likely see at a brunch spot in Queen West, Insta-worthy lattes (like the Gothic Latte with activated charcoal), etc. But, for me - while I understood the concept and saw what they were trying to strive for, I think execution itself fell a bit flat. We visited on a Saturday morning while it was relatively busy - there's a good amount of seating, free WiFi, and a variety of menu items to choose from. We ordered the Avo Maria (avocado toast with sweet potatoes and pomegranates), a sweet potato benny, and a Gothic latte. With tip, we paid around $29. Honestly - I saw the vision of what they *wanted* the dishes to be (think of the pizzaz of Early Bird downtown), but the dishes themselves felt really rushed, lacked the flavour I was expecting, and overall execution felt uninspired. The Avo Maria looked and felt like something that could have been made at home (and while there's nothing wrong with that, I'm not sure if that's what they were going for). The one item that really stood out to us was the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benny - savoury, flavourful perfection. Otherwise, everything else we had was just fine, but not extraordinary. For those wondering - I got my Instagram photo of the Gothic latte obviously, but besides that, if you're looking for depth, the coffee doesn't shine through as much as espresso lovers would like. I'd come back here and give it another chance one day, and it's always nice to have cute cafe options in the west end - overall, average with room for improvement, but a decent enough experience that I'd come back. read more

I feel so lucky that attend the college campus right beside this place, as it's one of the best cafe's I've ever been to (and I've been to quite a few!). Not pictured were a piece of banana bread and a massive croissant which were both incredibly delicious--by the time I thought to take a picture there were only crumbs. Aside from the food being fresh and delicious, I'm a huge cappuccino fan but have learned that they're very hit or miss depending on the place. DeCourses café truly makes one of the best cappuccinos I've had, and has a lot of different flavours that can be added (I recommend hazelnut!). Anyways, I'm definitely a fan of this place and plan to go many times in the future. I think the prices are fair for the quality and size of the food and drinks ordered, and they have quite a big menu compared to other cafés. read more

Cute little café that opened up recently replacing several other failed businesses in this very same location. The failures of the others really doesn't make sense as this location is kiddie corner to Humber College Lakeshore Campus, and a massive neighbourhood of young professionals and young families within walking distance. The failings of DeCourses predecessors maybe had to do with their choice in odd operating hours and lack of service. I do not predict DeCourses having the same issues as they offer EXACTLY what students and young families are looking for; good coffee, tasty fresh treats, all day breakfast and wholesome quick meal options (oh and bubble tea). If the gents working the counter were the owners they're young, energetic and eager, if not then they've hired really really well - these guys were awesome. The design is so trendy, it really steps the area up quite a bit, and instead of the rustic industrial charm that most spots seem to overdo now, the've gone with a more modernist/minimalist approach and it totally works! They've got an extensive menu with lots of hot sandwich options, crepes and baked goodies to go along side an impressive coffee menu. I went with a freshly baked croissant which was HUGE and a unique latte option they have called a Gothic Latte which uses activated charcoal in the brewing process for a kick and cleansing effect. The croissant was amazing, so buttery and flakey, wow. And the charcoal/gothic latte was so black but surprisingly easy drinking and tasted great! They've got this figured out! I hope this place lasts, it's really a great neighbourhood coffee joint and I look to spend many afternoons here in the future Eatcrest out! read more

Finally ended up here after running past it on Lake Shore many times. It's located adjacent to the Humber Lake Shore campus gym, and there appears to be a 501 streetcar stop heading east right across the street from its entrance. We came right past opening and the two staff members were very friendly. My friend chose the Avo Benny, and I picked the Yamo Benny. She added on a cappuccino, and I got a latte with sugar free vanilla - our total came to $35 pretip. We chose a seat and our drinks were made in a matter of minutes. The food took a bit longer as the employee making it had warned that he was just starting for the day. My friend's Avo Benny looked great, served on huge croissant, it also came with a small portion of cubed potatoes. My Yamo Benny came with a light salad with seeds & pomegranate tendrils. We both agreed our food was tasty and seasoned well. Nothing was overpowering. However, on the walk back we both noted how most benedicts at comparable cafes serve two eggs (our orders had one each). In the case of the Avo Benny, you are served it on a massive croissant, which could certainly benefit from more yolk goodness. To be fair, the prices reflected this - I think each "main" hovered around the $11 price point. But something to keep in mind. For me, this was a good portion, but for others it may not be. Regardless, the service was friendly and the cafe was utterly spotless, so I would come back. read more

Most of the food in the Kipling and Lakeshore area is scarce and unhealthy so I was happy to see a new cafe open up that actually has delicious and healthy food and great coffee. However, one thing I was very disappointed by, was that they charge $1.50 to add non-dairy milk to your coffee beverage. I go to a lot of cafes (infact, it's practically become a hobby of mine to try new coffee shops) and I know that non-dairy milks usually ranges from 40 to 60 cents to add on. I've never seen $1.50 to add oat milk to my drink. My latte ended up costing nearly $7. Its unfortunate because I know it's across from Humber and that's way too expensive for students. Unless they lower their price of non dairy milk to a reasonable price, I doubt I will be returning as my go to drink is an oat milk latte because I am lactose intolerant (I am also intolerant to scams) read more

Love this place! The croissants are buttery, flaky, and all made in house! I can't tell you how many times I've gone to a brunch place to be sorely disappointed in the soggy croissants; but I was absolutely blown away to learn they make all their goods in house. I had an ORGANIC mocha latte with almond milk (their barista was super quick, friendly, and artsy), the pinoy bennys (omg longonisa with hollandaise, genius!) with the flakiest, most buttery, fresh made croissants, and taro/coconut bubble tea. Blown away. The service was super super fast, which was impressive given the brunch crowd, and the food was so delicious! The owners (a lovely couple, Nick and Mary) also made a point to stop by and say hello, and we saw them mingling with other guests as well. Definitely coming back again and again for more! read more

My friends and I tried DeCourses today for brunch. The interior is lovely with natural light beaming into the cafe which makes it so inviting. I had the Pinoy Benny which was served with a croissant and a side of salad and potatoes. Food was amazing!!! I later learned from the owners that their croissants are made in house and that their coffee is organic! It's such a great place to go for breakfast, brunch/lunch!!
