Second breakfast meal from here and I'll say, though it's filling, the portion definitely varies between the All Day Breakfast vs the Omelette meal (which one is larger? I've included the Omelette meal for comparison), and both are good in their own way (i love sausages), I also like omelette (and larger portions), it'd be nice if there was an option to combine both! Also, i've been meaning to order the wraps but it's either unavailable somedays or it doesnt seem to come with a side so Im still a bit hesitant. I ordered from here using Ritual as I wanted breakfast with homefries. This is located on Wellington, just past the Ritz Carlton. Prices are reasonable I think. The pick-up for my order was pretty smooth. The food was ready when they said it would be. When I opened up my package at the office I realized how large the portion was. LOL. I had the veggie hash (potatoes, onions, sweet peppers, mushrooms) & added sausages on the side. I was only able to eat about a quarter of the meal. So I saved the rest & ate it for lunch! LOL. That made it really economical for me. I didn't really get to see the ambiance inside the restaurant since I just picked up my food. But from what I did see, the restaurant looked clean. Friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. I tried the peameal bacon for the first time and it was delicious. The pancakes are large and fluidly and the maple syrup paired well with them and the bacon. Food was pretty good but the service was absolutely terrible. Took them about 15 minutes at our table to even acknowledge us. Had to as several times for water. Food was delivered without silverware or napkins. After asking a couple times for them, I ended up walking over to the service staff to finally get them. By then, our food was room temperature. Pretty garbagey breakfast joint that has a very lame vegan option. I only visited here because I was pressed for time and noticed they had a vegan hash ($11.50 plus tax) available. So I ordered that, which comes with home fries, mushrooms, red peppers and onions, served with a couple of small sides of tomato and lame guac. The dish came out in under 5 minutes. It was unseasoned other than salt, and none of their condiments (Frank's, ketchup) could save it. Nothing offensive, but just very lame. Thank you for having a vegan option, but you need to do a bit better. This was pretty lame and uninspiring. I would definitely not return. EDIT: Thanks for the response, Susan. A smaller spot that can get really busy if there are any events on a weekend morning downtown. We were able to walk in and get seated immediately at 11:30am. The food was very meh to me. I do not recommend the homefries. Some of the crispier bits were okay and seasoned fine but it was basically just cooked potato. The French toast was very medium. It needed a lot of help from syrup. My meal also had a side of bacon that came with it. It was pretty fatty and kind of half half on what was crispy/not crispy. I prefer crispy bacon for sure. An interesting interaction was the waitress pouring coffee and my date holding up the cup for her to fill. I was kind of surprised that neither party suggested putting the cup down so lo and behold, she accidentally poured hot coffee all over his hands lol. Love this Sunset Grill. I visited this place twice this year. The folks here and kind and very hospitable. I enjoyed my time here. Food is HELLA worth it cause your plate is full of potatoes or bread or whatever it is LOL. Their food comes fresh and hot (like you, who's reading this) so you know it's good quality haha. It does get quite busy on the weekends so make sure you go early or at least fill your stomach a bit cause you might have to do a bit of waiting. Good location cause you're close to the CN Tower, Skydome (I'm not calling it Rogers Centre cause they did us DIRTY on Friday, July 8th, 2022), Ripley's Aquarium, etc. - come grab your breakfast before watching a Jay's game or whatever. If you told me that this place was a chain, I would of not believed you, After a night go drinking and a hangover, my girlfriend and I were looking for a spot to refuel. For food, I ordered the super sunset breakfast: three eggs over-easy, two pancakes, home fries, bacon, and that. It was amazing! I started with the home fries.They were crispy and small which made them the perfect bite size. The pancakes were fluffy and perfectly soaked up the syrup. With every bite, I felt myself sobering up. The eggs were great, especially when soaking the toast in the yolk. My girlfriend ordered the greek omelet. She didn't expect the omelet to be so hearty. There were a lot of veggies, and a lot of feta cheese. There was the equivalent of an infant's fist worth of feta cheese for a base. It definitely tasted great with some hot sauce. They use locally sourced small eggs so most meals come with three eggs. We tried lots of food, the omelet, blueberry pancakes, thick cut French toast both with great maple syrup. The link sausage is the mild pork inside a crisp casing. The thick cut bacon, is sweet and cooked crisp. It is chewy rather than just crumbling from the crispness. I had to try the corn beef hash so our table was out of space. The corn beef hash was cooked perfectly on the flat top with a little sear just like the home style potatoes. I decided to order some chocolate chip pancakes since I'm a child and need chocolate chips in as many things as possible. From the minute we ordered to the time we walked out the door, it could not of been more then 20 minutes! This place was lightening fast and had all 4 breakfast's in front of us in no time. My chocolate chip pancakes were very, very good and it was exactly what I was hoping for. You can't ask for much more then good service, good prices, and good food. It's a greasy spoon with typical fair of omelettes, pancakes, and other breakfast staples. There's never a line (precovid), which is what makes it an attractive place to go in downtown Toronto. It's not the usual home fries but a cooked potato that comes either undercooked or over cooked and has a cumin like seasoning. Food comes rlly quickly but Service is lacking waited forever after getting food to be spoken to again at which point our plates had been to the side of us for over 10min. At 8am there were plenty of tables; by the time we left at 9am-ish, the place was packed with a line. We ordered the vegan hash (no onions or guac, which has onions) with an over easy egg and an omelet. My hash was nothing special. Giant portion, though the egg was cooked perfectly. The turkey bacon was also good - there were 4 slices but it's those wide strips - not the skinny ones like proper bacon. I liked the lemonade though it was a little too sweet so I added water to it. Service: Good. Price point: Well - had I known it would cost me $30 to eat breakfast, I would have gone elsewhere. The bacon extra was $5, for starters. Pancakes are thick & yummy. Bacon is crisp. Waffles are tasty and bacon is crisp. Eggs are always cooked for perfection. If you aren't a baconater they do have sausage links. You don't have to get bacon but isn't that a crime? The home fries are made so perfectly. I don't even know words to give them justice. They're tender (cooked perfectly) and seasoned right. From the outside and even once I was inside, I had really low expectations of Sunset Grill. It's a Canadian chain, the inside was drab and very chain-like, and it was in downtown/financial area of Toronto. As it turned out, the coffee was pretty good (hot and it kept coming), the eggs with peameal bacon and home fries was far better than it should have been. The eggs came out as I wanted them to, fried over easy. They were small eggs, and they should be since you get three, but no matter, the plate was overflowing with bacon and potatoes. I wouldn't call this a stellar top notch breakfast, but for what it is, it's pretty good. read more
