The souvlaki is made by an actual Greek person, and truly, it can give the Danforth a run for its money! I really liked the rice; it was especially flavourful. I liked that, on a Sunday morning, this place had all ages: families with kids, couples on dates, and a few tables with senior citizens hanging out. We have visited Frankie's a number of times over the years and have had good experiences. Today, not so much. We came in and sat in a booth. The bartender/server gave us menus and left without asking if we would like anything to drink. He then hung out at the bar chatting to someone. The kitchen bell rang and he walked past us, picked up the food for another table and walked past again. Rather than swinging by to see what we wanted he went back to the bar to chat with the same individual. Needless to say, after being ignored for some time, we decided to leave. I USED TO be regular here. Shannon and Dan were amazing! The owner is great. The service and food was great. But we were regulars just because of their employees kindness. There is a new girl maybe it's because she is working alone but service is SHIT. 4 different tables are talking shit about the service out loud right now including us. This review is not about the food. The food was decent, but nothing special. I was compelled to write this review after I experienced how HORRIBLE the service was from the two servers who work there - but one was much worse than the other. I wish I had paid attention to their names. So, came here yesterday for lunch with a group of 5 people. We walked in and got a table immediately; seating ourselves. A waitress came by and threw some menus on the table(literally threw them down in passing). After about 5-10 mins we tried to get the attention of the waitress because nobody had come back to see if we were ready to order. When we made eye contact and said 'excuse me' she immediately replied 'calm down, I'll come back'. There was no 'hello, my name is .... and I'll be your waitress today' instead what we were immediately told was that it would be at least 30 minutes before we would get our food. We started to place our orders and my friend said after one order was taken 'make that two' to which she replied 'calm down - I'll get to yours in a second'. 30-35 mins later the food started to come out.... except for mine. One problem...no cutlery or napkins were provided so we had to ask for those. The waitress (who was nicer than the original one who took our orders) commented 'bad service'. My friends all started to eat and I had to flag down the other waitress to find out what happened to my food because our original waitress was no longer accessible to us... My food came aprox 5 mins after everyone elses, however part of my order was missing- that arrived another 5 mins later. We had to ask twice for our cheques and we just went up to the counter to pay our bills because at that point we just wanted to get out of there. This was the first time I left zero tip for the waitress. I felt that the service was so poor that it was deserving of nothing. I truly hope that the owner of this establishment reads this review and does something to correct the behaviour of the waitress - or fire her because she really leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. We stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago after we were trying to find a patio spot. We sat down since this was the only place that had seats at the time and I'm so glad we did. Service was prompt and friendly. Menu had an extensive list of pub food. I got one of the specials that day- steak and Parmesan fries ($18) and it was well portioned and seasoned well. My partner and his friend also really liked their burgers and said it was one of the best they had in a while. Everything was very generously sized and the prices were very good for what it was. Our only feedback would be that the pancakes were a little on the hard side. What really stood out for us was the value of the dishes. They're very well priced for the amount that you get. Service: It had a family restaurant feel to it and when our server was busy someone else jumped right in to help so we never felt ignored or forgotten. I'm a huge diner fan, so when I moved to Toronto and saw I was across the street from Frankie's, I couldn't resist. My first time going I had their pulled pork eggs benny. It was DELICIOUS, the eggs were poached perfectly, the hollandaise was the right amount of creamy (and it didn't separate), and the pulled pork was flavourful. What really stole the show, if that was even possible, were the home fries. They're crispy, but soft on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. I was blown away! I heard that the burgers here are really good, so literally 3 days later I came back for lunch. I got the Texan which is crispy jalapeños, spiced havarti, guac, and Doritos on top of a burger. I thought my first bite of that burger was the best I've ever taken but... it just kept getting better somehow. All of the flavours and textures worked so well together. The beef patty was thick, juicy, and done JUST RIGHT (I hate when diners over cook their burgers). The service is efficient, friendly, and quick. My glass was never empty and my food never took long. Wow, terrible, rude and aggressive staff. I don't write bad reviews but this place ABSOLUTELY deserves it. Made us (a group of 3)stay at the door for 10 minutes while they continuously ignored us. The only times they (lady with brown hair) acknowledged our presence they spoke to us rudely. I had to follow the server in the restaurant to finally get an answer as to how long our wait would be. I would recommend going early around 11 am if you don't want to wait in lines. So finally we got seated. The servers were quick in taking our orders. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Peameal bacon. I was a bit hesitant about it since it is hard to get right. I took a risk anyway. The food arrived relatively quick. I was quite disappointed with the poached eggs as they were almost soft-boiled. The Hollandaise sauce was a bit on the tangy side. I would probably skip this dish and order something more traditional if I were to come here again. After reading the stellar reviews on Yelp, Tiffany N and I strolled down the street from The Gladstone hotel and popped in around 11 a.m. The place wasn't full, but definitely not deserted either. I noticed a sign for cheap mimosas and Caesars on the way in which was awesome. The place is lovely. A bit of hole in the wall vibe mixed with some comfy booths and tranquil colours make it a great spot for breakfast. I decided to go with the Guac Omelet which was amazing, and shared half of Tiffany's challah french toast - super yummy as well! So was in here around 3 pm on a Friday afternoon which was quite empty as the last time I was here at lunch time it was packed. What a happy day it was to go into Frankie's. It had a face lift and advertised the world's best burgers. My friend and I thought this was quite funny given the quality of nearby establishments at Queen and Ossington (Tom's Breakfast place next door comes to mind). The interior has those light-bulbs hanging in mason jars and wooden tables/benches. There's a jukebox and the most eclectic group of people dining. I think CAMH has something to do with that. There are burgers and there are other home-style meals (fried chicken and waffles) on the menu. We ordered each a double burger with fries. This came to about $10 and was extremely tasty. The right amount of grease and meat, the fries were great, and some of the additional toppings were very special. I had deep fried jalapeños and caramelized onions on it.
