We came here on a weekday for brunch and were amazed by how busy they were. They have a spacious diner with great variety of options on their menu. We ordered "Chopped Steak and 3 Eggs", "7oz New York Steak and Eggs", "Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon", "Super Pancake Combo", "French Toast", "Garlic Bread" and side of "Coleslaw". August 29/2024: Lunch with John Mac & Val. This was a very nice diner. Super clean & very well cared for. Bathroom was very clean as well. Nice decor & solid service. Mine was the Hotdog & Greek salad combo ($12.99 + $3.99 for salad). The Greek salad dressing was very tasty. The hotdog came pre-dressed with onions, pickles & mustard. Tasty but not overly so. I just love breakfast! I'm actually not super picky with breakfast so I am a little bit more biased on the generous side when I do reviews. This is when service makes a big difference because it sets the tone for the rest of my day. Acknowledge me when I walk into the restaurant and offer me coffee when I sit down. Not super diva asks, right? We had a weekend tournament at Humber college for my son and decided to explore a good breakfast option on the Sunday. With a quick search decided upon Wally's grill. The server greeted us and was so friendly! We ordered our usual dishes, nothing too adventurous or different. The menu is pretty mainstream and predictable. The food was well done! I walked in at about 11 AM for breakfast and was refused service because "you're drunk." I haven't had a drink in over five years, and I said so. My boyfriend and I came here on Labour Day afternoon for "breakfast". It was busy but still had empty tables for us to be seated. This diner was a little different than most places where you could just find an empty table and the server would give you the menu once settled down. They have all-day breakfast as well as lunch food. However, I was told by my boyfriend that they have a menu solely on breakfast if we came earlier. We both ordered the omelettes- Italian for me and bacon for my boyfriend. It took a little while for the food to arrive as I understand it was a holiday and they were busy. FOOD: ~ Italian omelette: consisted of slices of mozzarella cheese, chunks of bell pepers and spicy italian sausage... the omelette was not as oily and dry as you would thought at a diner place. The cheese was melty and everything just tasted so good in your mouth. The only thing I would say was a little lack of flavour. I had to sprinkle loads of black pepper to give it that boost of flavour. The home fries was just chunks of potatoes with some in-house spices PRICE: ~ a buck or two cheaper than bigger diner chains. However, bigger chains charged you more but give you less food. This place was the opposite. They feed you with enough food plus more! Definitely will come back without hesitation. read more

I love this place. Always have, and always will. It's the perfect go-to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff is super friendly, the meals are homemade and hardy, leaving you full for the day. The prices are super reasonable. Everyone I take here always insists we go back again. This time around I had their classic cheese burger. The burger was perfectly made, just like you'd get at a family barbecue. Their fries are heavenly. My girlfriend and I came here on a Saturday morning around 10 and it was PACKED!!! It was definitely busy but it could of been so much better. We ordered the Peameal Bacon with 3 eggs with a side of burnt rye bread lol and Super French toast breakfast combo with home fries. The peameal bacon was cooked to perfection and my French toast was delicious. The food wasn't out of this world including the burnt rye bread. The coffee was good. The place had a huge line up and it was getting overly full and damn we just couldn't believe how full it was getting. Never seen a breakfast place this full ever, which was a good sign. Wally's Grill is this small restaurant that looks like a diner on the inside, while also serving up some trucker diner food including Greek options, deli sandwiches, and all day breakfast. The place itself looks pretty old school with clientele old enough to match. Servers are friendly and you'll find something for everyone here so it's a safe place to grab lunch with picky coworkers. I grabbed up a Reuben sandwich while the coworker ordered a burger. The Rueben had thin slices of corned beef with partially cooked swiss cheese that was sandwiched between some pretty greasy bread and served with your choice of side (fries....it's always fries). As soon as you pick up the bread, the grease just stains your fingertips and you can't put it down. The sauerkrat was real wet so it made the bottom slice a bit tough to handle, but the meat stacked fairly nicely. The corned beef was decent enough as it wasn't overly salty. Fries were actually pretty good even though I'm sure they were probably store bought. Would come again if not for the convenience. It's located right by the library, but otherwise it's a spot that you easily drive by without giving a second notice to. The All-Day breakfast menu looks pretty good with a nice mix of pancakes, omelettes, and breakfast sandwiches. Will probably give that a go next time around. read more

I have been here twice in two days the first day I had their awesome burger with everything except hot peppers including cheese peameal bacon it was so good it was too die for. After I paid my bill the waitress never asked if I want another glass of water so I felt that was my hint too get out. The next time I come there I see same waitress so I go too different waitress. I ordered Eggs Benedict and upgraded potatoes too a salad. I usually wait a while too get coffee but that's because the store is full. After I pay my bill both waitresses were telling me too leave like the exit is that way . I was kind of devastated heartbroken that I felt they didnt want me too come back too store ever even after I tipped them. They should treat paying customers like wanted guests because I really want too be there. And when you pay your bill it's because you are investing in being served in future service. So when they accept that money they "should be" accepting you for future visits not telling you too get out. I love coming too this place and hope I am welcomed when I come back. read more

Firstly when I sat down the server did not bring me a menu I was forced to share with the person beside me. Secondly, the breakfast here is good but I decided to try something else on the menu and went with what the server described to be a roast beef dip sandwich. Turns out it was roast beef and gravy put on top 1 slice of thick white toast with some old vegetables on the side. No sandwich, no beef broth dip, gross gravy and the server did not come and ask if everything was ok until everyone else at the table was done eating. read more

Decided to go to Wallys for breakfast as we were in the area. I used to frequent this place back in the day at the old location. I remember the food as being amazing and with that "homemade" feel. Sadly, that's no longer the case. Food is average at best, prices are okay for what you get. The waitress we had was horrible, very unattentive and unhelpful when we had questions about the menu. Oh and as for the number of eggs you can get with your breakfast, it's 1 or 3, 2 isn't an option unless you want to pay more. So long Wally's ..... It was good while it lasted read more

Been dining here on many occasions over the years so more of a general review really. Very nice and homely ambiance; we always love it when we are seated in a booth. When the sun shines in on a glorious afternoon, nothing warms your heart more. Nice menu variety from breakfast specials to a full range of entrees like soups, sandwiches, pasta and steak. We always order from the breakfast menu, whether it's the 2-egg specials, 3-egg omelettes or pancakes or French toast as part of combos. Very nice portions, especially the buttered toast and home fries. Unlimited coffee refills can do no wrong. Always a winner with breakfast food! My only comment is it's slightly pricey with the more elaborate breakfast specials, more so than the average breakfast restaurant...but a bit justified as you're supporting a local mom 'n pop eatery. Also, we've noticed that customer service used to be stellar and has somewhat diminished over the years...they're not as quick and responsive as they used to be...but we have our all-time fav blonde-haired, bespectacled super friendly waitress who is always fantastic! Glad Wally's is in our neighbourhood. read more

I would say this place is very "middle of the line", not overly good, not overly bad. The portions are good. The service could be improved a great deal. I come here sometimes because there isn't any other breakfast restaurant options close by. Rexdale is a rather depraved area for good food options (among other things). I understand when it's busy (which this place usually is), the service can go downhill a bit. I work in the industry myself, so I understand. However, some of these waitresses have been here for a long time, and their service can be really sub-par depending on their mood or the time of day. This place would really benefit from a floor manager or at the least, better training. For instance, I've been here on a few occasions and sat for at least 5 minutes before getting a menu, which is far too long in my opinion. It should be brought within 30 seconds to 1 minute max. I've seen the waitresses pass by without acknowledging the customer (empty handed too), it is not difficult to grab a menu and set it down. This is very basic waitressing skills. Secondly, some of the servers do not write anything down, which leads to the food being right 50% of the time and wrong the other 50%. Please write things down if you can't remember the order, it is really quite easy to do. I don't know how the tips are spit here, but I feel the waitresses should make more of a team effort to help each other out with their tables. The tips would improve for everyone and the operation would run much more smoothly than the current system where everyone seems to just manages their own tables and completely ignores the other tables. Another issue is the tables are left dirty and when customers come in, they sit at the dirty tables and wait for them to be cleaned, which again, takes too long sometimes. I think they are a bit short staffed here and would benefit from a busser or a dishwasher that can come out and bus the tables at busier times. If you look at the google reviews, the number one complaints are about the dirty tables, long wait times and slow service. In terms of food quality, it's not too bad. Sometimes, there is inconsistency, but overall, it's okay. read more

The prices are extremely affordable for breakfast and quality was great. Service was a little slow but the restaurant was busy. They have standard breakfast fare. The quality of service offered up by the woman who answered the phone was sub par at best and the food even worse. I ordered bacon, eggs, and hash for 5+ coworkers, HR, and my district manager and no one finished what they received. Upon opening my container I was immediately turned off by the appearance of the "hash". It looked like boiled potatoes, half mashed and thrown atop the flat top for a few seconds. One of my favorite breakfast places when i come to toronto - drive out of my way to get there.

This place has the best Reuben sandwich that I have found in Toronto. I always remember it piled with meat and dripping tantalizingly, I crave this sandwich when I haven't had it in a while. The pickles are excellent as well, make sure to order some extra. You have to be willing to give up salt for the rest of the day though (or for a few days) as it's got more than its share. First of all the server ask us where we like to sit, I said outside then she took us there, the chairs were all dirty I told the server about it and she looked upset, then I went into the wash room to wash my hands to my surprise there was the biggest lump of spit in the sink GROSS, when I got back to the table the server wiped the chair with a wet cloth leaving the chair wet and expected me to sit on a wet chair, it seems to me that all they need is your money, I will never go there again.
