We came here to catch up and eat some good French pastries. We are usually a fan of this place, their bakery selections are pretty good. The cafe itself has a good amount of seats that's available. Everything is pretty much self serve here. Once you got your pastry, you will bring it to your chosen table. If you ordered a coffee they will also call you once it's ready. One thing that I was shocked was that they don't post their prices, it makes it inconvenient and surprising when you see the total. For a small piece of cake and latte, it was a total of $21. Definitely much higher than anywhere else. For that price, the cake was good, but i don't know if it justifies it. The latte was ok. Mostly just foam and not a lot of good strong espresso. read more

I was conflicted on the rating I wanted to give. I'd say it's like a 3.5. My review is based on the brunch buffet and 2 takeaway bakery items. Showed up about 10 mins late for our 9am reservation on a Saturday and the place was dead. There was only one other couple that was already there. The buffet was overwhelming but also gave nothing at the same time lol. Once you are settled in and go back a couple times, you realize there aren't that many things to choose from, well, for me personally. I made a dumb decision and got way too many croissants in the beginning when my bf and I should've halved them. The main reason for coming is that I wanted to try all the croissants. They kinda all fell flat for me? The best one was probably the plain butter croissant. The other standouts for me would be: -tzatziki -focaccia bread -lasagna -watermelon The lack of identification of the food items made it hard. At one point I thought the spanakopita had shellfish cuz it tasted fishy. I asked an attendee and she reassured me it was just spinach. They had some tiramisu desserts which I had to try and I'm not sure if they make it themselves since it was a bit frozen in the middle. Maybe they do make it themselves and then freeze them? For $35 it was ok to try but I'd never go back. For some reason I thought there was a carving station with roast beef and stuff but there wasn't lol. On the way out I grabbed an almond croissant since the croissant I thought I was almond at the buffet ended up being chocolate almond, which I don't really like. Oh which brings me to my next point. There are signs everywhere saying "unconsumed food will acquire an extra coat". So I had to make sure to eat everything including the chocolate almond croissant which I didn't care for lol. Anyways, I grabbed an almond croissant and the viral circular pistachio croissant. Almond croissant fell flat. The filling kind of tasted like nothing. The round croissant was too dense and I don't even know why I wanted to try this so bad. Darn Instagram! Lol. The filling was not pistachio, rather a custard? If it was pistachio, I barely tasted it. The best part of the croissant was probably the pistachio white choc coating. I felt like a lot of Nord Lyon was hype and I'm a bit disappointed. I am willing to try a few more times but omg the 2 croissants I purchased at the end were $16 all together?! That's a lil crazy. read more

We tried the weekend brunch here, which was discounted at $40 (down from $50) in September. I think $40 is still a bit too steep for the quality of the food offered during the brunch, which is mediocre overall. The ambiance was nice and lively, though a bit crammed. As for the food, the standout for me was cinnamon waffles and the chocolate croissants. To be honest, it would be better to just try some of the pastries they have in the front, as their buffet would be more expensive and leave you full but underwhelmed. One last note is that they did not label any of the dishes in the buffet, which knocks off one star. read more

July 5/2023: Schnitzel & Layla. We drove all the way to here from Brampton for this experience. It was a beautiful presentation from this French Bakery but that seems to be where it came to an end. The front service was done by a server that seemed a little snooty. The food quality was simply not there. The danish's were tasteless & lacked the custard filling. The chocolate topping on the eclair wasn't even real tasting to me. Having been in the chocolate business for years...I KNOW what real chocolate taste like! The French baguette was ok but it was small for a $5.99 price tag. I'm disappointed. When I found this on Instagram I was hoping to get a great tasting Cronut, but NOPE, this is not the place to get it. Got a chocolate eclair, choux cream, and a box of 6 macarons. Loved how stuffed the eclair was with smooth chocolate cream, and how overflowing the cream was in the choux. I tried the lemon cheesecake, the green croissant, and one of the flan cakes here. Overall, I found them to be quite a bit on the sweeter side. The lemon cheesecake was probably the best and had a nice crust on the bottom. The green croissant was baked well, but the filling was a bit sweet for my liking. We always pass by Nord Lyon but this is the first time we stopped by and got something here. The little treat we got here had caramel, hazelnut and chocolate flavors. Every bite had a delightful crunch and buttery flavor which we couldn't get enough of. But it does come at a price. This little tart is about $8. But this gives us motivation to try more here. This absolutely rocked my world. I usually keep my expectations low because every time I have them remotely positive I'm let down but this fully exceeded my expectations. First off, any meat options are halal, and secondly it's all you can eat for 90 mins for only 30 CAD. UM what a STEAL. The sheer amount of options they have is overwhelming in the best of ways. There's a section where you can have your own French omelette made fresh for you upon choosing your ingredients. Then there's a little dessert section of puddings/little cakes. Then more sweet stuff like filled croissants, pancakes, and waffles. And then all the savory OH LORD. I wish there were labels on what's what because there was this one thing I tried with carrots broccoli in a thickened bechemel sauce and baked with cheese on top and it was absolutely divine. Their focaccia was AMAZING, soft, fluffy, and buttery. I would've been content to have just eaten that. Their zucchini eggs were so fluffy and melt in your mouth and paired with the focaccia, incredible. Now take a tiny bit of everything and don't get greedy because anything you don't eat you'll be charged for. So just sample everything first and then go back for more to make the most of everything. Make sure you make a reservation because they get packed and I can guarantee unless you come at 9 am you will not be able to walk in. My friends and I came for 9:15 which had its pros and cons. Pros, you get first dibs of the food and there's very few people there. Cons, your stomach will not be ready to eat this much. I'd definitely try coming later in the day after having a super light breakfast in the hopes of warming the stomach up in the morning to eat more later but I was absolutely pleased with my choice of time and the food. Was gravitated into the store as from the outside it looked welcoming. All the pastries looked fresh and that's the climax of this review. Should have known I would be in a world of hurt since there was a lack of butter smell in the air but decided to go against my instinct and opted for a few pastries to go. Croissants looked flaky but was stale and more bread texture(similar to those cheap grocery store mini croissants in a bag). Muffins were as hard as a rock, surprised that these are even served to people. The donut was beyond greasy, left a puddle of grease on the bottom of the box. This place had a lot of hype as a fancy Fresh Bakery downtown Toronto. From the outside it looks very nice, and to be fair on the inside its also quite nice. The selection of pastries, sandwiches and drinks is very extensive, so for menu variety and selection alone this place is very elegant. The reason for the low rating - value for money. The prices are pretty crazy, for a small cake not much bigger than a cupcake (not a muffin, a cupcake) it was around $12. I feel like bakeshops are an easy fall back if you need a delivery order in the morning. They always open bright and early and don't disappoint you. Ordered: Feuilletes - Spinach feta pastry Borek - Brick millefeuille Chocolate Eclair because it said it was popular on the app I gobbled up the spinach pastry pretty quickly, so that's a good in my books, and the eclair not too memorable, no complaints. Sad, sad, sad - my BF ate the whole borek and I didn't get a bite, but he said it was good. I guess I didn't share my spinach pastry too, I forgot to have him try a bite while I was in a meeting. #wfh. Fair and square. Only thing is my bill was quite expensive for 3 items but I guess that's what it is when you pay the premium for UberEats. Approx $6-7~ per item. I happen to go to this place because I was picking up a day-old package. And thought I would supplement it with things I usually like to buy at French bakeries. So I bought a plain croissant, cheese croissant, and a strawberry croissant. They are quite large in size. And the plain croissant was the best. Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside. Not overly heavy with a butter flavor. But we enjoyed them nonetheless and we definitely return just for the croissants The woman working behind the counter was very pleasant. The owners who seem to be around or maybe they were the managers, were quite rude. I could tell they were saying something to her which wasn't so pleasant, whether it was about me or something else. I suspect it was about me as I was opening my day-old package to see what I had so I could figure out what I should get that wasn't going to be a duplicate. And somehow that set them off. Maybe they don't want people to know that they sell their day olds? I won't hold it against them. But I'm glad I was only dealing with the woman behind the counter. My son said the cheese croissant wasn't that cheesy. And the strawberry ones seem to have strawberry jam in it. My day olds I pop them in the oven to reheat. We were walking down the street when we noticed this pretty store and decided to walk in. It was past 7 in the evening and the store was still filled with croissants and other pastries. Usually all the top croissant places are sold out by the day and I could be wrong about assuming things and this place might be having great capacity to produce more batches but the Almond Croissant we took was really really hard and stiff. Probably because it was made in the morning and didn't sell out but that doesn't help lessen the disappointment. The price of the pastries were really high so we didn't get anything else except a caramel eclair - this was nice! I haven't tried the sweets yet, maybe next time, but I did pick up some butter bread, it was almost like a scone. It was nice and crumbly, but it had a pocket of air in the middle. I'm not sure it was supposed to be like, but it was a little misleading... I was hoping for som filling in there. The staff are wonderful. The display case is loaded with delicious bakery items which we can't wait to try when we go back. This cafe/AYCE brunch place was all over my IG so decided to try it by bringing our guests from California. The positives: The hanging flowers from the ceiling and jazz music in the background gave it a nice ambiance. It's not very big so the seating is limited, which is located at the back of the bakery. You need to make a reservation. The negative: food was mediocre. There was no identification of the food items so if it wasn't obvious, you don't know what the item was by looking at it. Eggs and bacon were in the same food tray so it was oily. The sausage was not good. The food trays were not being replenished fast enough. I had to ask for glasses and mugs for the beverages and teaspoons for the sugar in the coffee/tea area. I didn't eat anything from the salad bar because it did not look appetizing. Best options for food: the lasagna, breads, and french toast. I had a piece of hair in the french toast which I didn't eat but didn't say anything because of my guests. If it weren't for that, it was actually good, nice and light. They had a pistachio panna cotta which was delicious. This was truly disappointing. $29.99 for brunch, a special for back to school price. I wouldn't pay anymore than this price for what I ate. The bakery may have better options but I didn't try it because I was so disappointed in the brunch. read more
