    Focaccia

3.5 this time. Went again on Sunday eve with a short notice reservation. There were a few tables occupied and a few pick up orders while we were there. The focaccia this time was not great. It was dry and hard which is very upsetting as I raved about it to all my friends. I ordered the risotto primavera which let me down a bit. It was flavourful and had nice veggies but I could tell it was not the long simmer process of making risotto. The server confirmed that the rice is made in part in advance and then finished off as what the customer ordered....makes sense as they have many risotto options and they were able to ensure mine was vegan. It was basically like a primavera pasta but with rice instead. I may stick with Thai next time. My hubby and son had the vodka pasta but hubby had salmon on his. Both of them thoroughly enjoyed their meals and could barely finish them. Their portions are very generous! Hubby started with the salad that had the berries and a balsamic dressing. It was ahhhmazing! We shared it and totally loved it....the dressing was so good. Both guys ordered dessert to go as they were too full to eat it on the spot.

The complimentary warm focaccia bread is so delish. It's so soft and fluffy and when soaked in the olive oil and vinegar, it literally just melts in your mouth. I don't like to waste stomach space on bread, but this was just so good. I ordered the lasagna with meat sauce. The sauce was super cheesy and creamy. While this was good, I still would have liked the tomato flavour to come through more, like a traditional lasagna. I actually preferred my boyfriend's chicken parm dish than my lasagna. His pasta was really good and had tons of flavour. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a nice thick layer of melted mozzarella. My lasagna ended up tasting better the next day as leftovers. In regards to service while we dined in, our server was very prompt and friendly. Really can't complain about anything there.

This can be a romantic dinner place and they can do groups here as well. They always have a special for the day. I find the waiters very pleasant. The music needs an update. The food has always been tasty. I loved their steak special. This is about my fourth time to this restaurant.

What an amazing dining experience. So glad we found this spot randomly and decided to try it. Party of two, we wanted to have a nice Italian dinner and decided to try this spot when we found it on our way. It's located in a small plaza and is kind of unassuming. We didn't have reservations and were there Friday night at 845. We were seated within 5-10 mins. Our waiter was Randy and he is wonderful. Very friendly, very caring and totally made us feel special. He is such a funny and amazing guy. For our appetizer, we had the caprese salad. So fresh and delicious. The table also received fresh and delicious focaccia bread. So soft and fluffy! For our mains, I ordered the penne arrabitatta and my fiancé had the trout which was on special that day. OMG! The trout was heavenly! For the side, we had a choice of pasta and we were in between the rosé and the olive oil sauce. Randy the amazing waiter was kind enough to get us both! The trout was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The accompanying cilantro lime lemon sauce was heavenly!! I even tried some of that with my arrabitata and it was perfect! My Arrabiata was also so tasty, with perfect combination of herbs and spices. They actually serve a sprig of thyme with your pasta that you can add fresh, and it is amazing!! We each had our wines and oh so tasty! For dessert, we split the tiramisu, a moist and delicious cake dipped in amaretto and espresso. Everything about this dinner was fantastic. My fiancé has not stopped talking about the trout. The place also has a wine sommelier, who was introduced to us by Randy. Overall a wonderful little family restaurant that truly cares about its diners. Definitely coming back with the whole family!

Spaghetti Giardinere & Fettuccine Diavolo at Thyme Restaurant in Port Credit!

This tucked in Italian restaurant in Port Credit certainly doesn't get enough attention. Perhaps because from the outside it looks completely the opposite of Italian, in my opinion. For a year I drove by this place and thought it was a cafè. Their wine menu is pretty slack considering it's the nectar of the Italian Gods but their vast food menu makes up for it. They can make pretty much any pasta you can conjure up. The food is really tasty and most times the chef will come out with the food and explain with pride what he has created for you, which I respect. The prices are totally reasonable. You wit break the bank here. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the large chunks of red onion in my Spaghetti Giardinere still had the skin on them.. Kind of a turn off. But that's pretty minor, you should absolutely still give this place a try!!

First time at this restaurant, and let me just say... I will definitely be back!…read more The restaurant has a really nice vibe. It's not one of those places where everyone is yelling over each other and you leave with a headache. You can actually have a conversation without saying, "Huh?" every five seconds. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were great. They also take allergies seriously, which I really appreciate. My sister is sensitive to spices (poor thing ). Me? I'm the type who would probably ask for extra hot sauce on hot sauce. We were seated right away, and our waitress, Kaily (I really hope I got her name right!), came over before we even had a chance to open the drink menu. She was super sweet, friendly, and had such a welcoming smile. Then... poof! Like Tinker Bell flew by and borrowed her for another mission, she disappeared into the restaurant. She got so busy with other tables that we had to wait about 20 minutes and finally asked another staff member to let her know we were ready to order. Honestly, I was about to send out a missing person's report. Then the food decided to take the scenic route to our table. Personally, I don't mind waiting. Maybe I've traveled to Europe one too many times, but I've learned that a good meal is an experience, not a race. If I'm going out to eat, I'm there to relax and enjoy it. My sister, however, wasn't feeling well and was hoping the food would arrive a little faster, so she wasn't exactly sharing my Zen attitude. Was the wait worth it? Absolutely! I had the steak with mushrooms and a side salad, and it was cooked perfectly. My sister had the salmon with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a salad, and she loved hers too. I also ordered the Virgin Passion Fruit Mojito. Let's just say... we weren't meant to be. Next time I'll stick with the classic virgin mojito because sometimes you don't need to reinvent a perfectly good wheel. Overall, great food, generous portions, a relaxing atmosphere, and staff who genuinely care about allergies. A tiny improvement in the timing of the service, and this place is an easy 5 stars in my book. Looking forward to coming back... and hopefully Tinker Bell lets Kaily stay at our table a little longer next time.

The layout of the restaurant is really nice, feeling modern. Personally, for myself, I was not a fan of the dish I went with. I had ordered the pan-roasted chicken and it was flavourless. It seemed as though only salt and pepper were added to the chicken before being roasted. The mushrooms and sauce tasted as if someone dumped black pepper in it. My girlfriend enjoyed her dish as she got the garlic prawn ravioli. The dish presentation for the Garlic Prawn Ravioli was certainly lacking as the plating seemed to be rushed. For the price point you pay, I expected much more from this restaurant.

A sweet family-owned restaurant with parking and two floors!…read more This was such a good Winterlicious find; the portions were generous and everyone left happy. The dinner cost $45. Standout dishes: 1) Pollo Marsala (Boneless chicken scallopine, mixed mushroom & marsala wine sauce, roasted potato, broccolini) and 2) Nonna's Meatballs Slow tomato sugo, braised beef & pork meatballs, roasted garlic bread. There were only two things that marred our experience: the bread that came with the winter caprese salad was so hard; we wondered if, perhaps, it was leftover from lunch. In addition, we came for an early dinner, and the staff had just finished cleaning, but the smell of chemicals was quite strong. We realize that they can't crack open a window, but it was definitely off-putting at first. However, we would definitely recommend this place. On a chilly Saturday night, it was so full and they even had a musician playing the guitar and the accordion. Not a common sight in an Italian restaurant in TO.

What really bothered me was the mediocre food and really bad communication. I was in touch with Mario about prix fixe menu for my group. It's $55 per person for a three course menu and the portions were tiny for the money. Everything lacked seasoning and the salad was not restaurant quality. Gnocchi for main course was also a small portion, the tomato sauce lacked flavor. The saving grace was tiramisu but again it was a tiny portion. Seriously, why did this have to cost $55. The worst was that even though the menu said bread and butter included, they didn't serve until we asked them and showed the online menu. Then they brought out bread which honestly shouldn't even cost them much. The part that bothered me is that they charged $20 for water. For a second, it felt like I was in Europe, not Canada. Before I made it here, I asked Mario if he could include soft drinks and water on the house because we were mostly doing veggie options. He said he will let me know what he can do by running numbers but he never got back. And then finally charged me for water as well as soft drinks. Overall, it was not a satisfying experience. Our main course was out super late and our waiter was apologetic. The bill took a long time to come as well. I wouldn't recommend this place as there was no value to customer! So much needs to be improved.
