I ordered the smoked salmon as an appetizer and for mains the canadian whitefish and seafood pescatore. The seafood pescatore was absolutely delicious! I loved it. The shrimp and scallops were so yummy. As for the shrimp cocktail, I've never tried it before and it's exactly what it sounds like. This place is definitely a great addition to Port Credit waterfront and a must-go. They have great indoor dining area and their patio is spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were late for our reservation and they were very cooperative with that. We ordered cocktails and beer with some appetizers to start with."Coconut Shrimp", "Calamari", "Traditional Mussels" and "Tuscany Pizza with Chorizo with Sausage". Mussels were fresh and the white wine sauce was delicious. I definitely recommend adding the chorizo sausage to your pizza as it tastes really good. Snug Harbour Seafood Bar and Grill is a seafood restaurant right by the Port Credit Marina and mouth of the Credit River. It's a nice walk at the parks on either side of the river's mouth. The sunset is beautiful and any stormy clouds looks great with the view at the riverside semi-enclosed patio (roofed). The seating indoors feels a little exposed without much booth seating/half wall separation and is quite noisy. Parties of 4 to 8 are easily accommodated and there is a lot of space in the restaurant as a whole, its definitely looks like a great place to rent as a venue. The staff is great, checking in at the right times, the shellfish prep station is unique and you can see your order made fresh. Order: - Calamari, too thin and tasteless, the sauce just overwhelmed the batter - Little Neck Clam Chowder, creamy and flavourful - Traditional Mussels, great portion and the broth was amazing with the bread (on the saltier side) - East Coast Salmon, great portion and texture, the wild rice side was a bit disappointing, wasn't much wild rice in there, but it did compliment the salmon well The prices are on the lower end of what I would expect from a seafood location, the portions were very fair for the price and tasted good. After avoiding this place like the plague, I finally got to check out this iconic place by the water, Snug Harbour. I just assumed that it was a terrible restaurant and never visited! Overall, I'd describe my entire visit as "non offensive". Place was quite busy for a late Saturday lunch. Unfortunately, there wasn't a seat with a view, so I couldn't soak up the true experience to its max potential. Menu is pretty boring, re: salads, calamari, mussels, burgers, fish & chips. I believe it's the same menu all day. Nothing spectacular, no specials. Prices were average, a burger w/ fries was $20. Fries were like Costco. Fish and chips did appear to be a fluffy beer batter. There was an inordinate dollop of tartar sauce, almost as much as there was coleslaw! Food took a bit to roll out. Service was pleasant. Restaurant was fairly loud. I can only imagine this as a pretty place for date night...on an evening, when it's a bit quieter. Full menu is online, so you can check it out. Went back to snug harbor for a family member's birthday, they don't take reservations from July to September, but we went at 5 and got a table outside right away. They have covered outdoor seating so it was great even though it was raining, we could still enjoy seating outside. Service was great, they brought our kid's food first so they didn't have to wait. The food was delicious, especially the baked brie and blackened catfish. There is free parking right by the restaurant too, which is not common in downtown port credit. Seated close to the bar, we had a lovely server. It was my first time eating there whereas everyone in my party are regulars. My mom used to take my sister and I here often when we were young kids and it was so much fun to watch the boats and the people. So for a while I've been talking to my sister about going back on a nice day and we could never make it work...until yesterday. We went and because we had my nephew who needed to eat, we ate inside since the wait for outside was 35 minutes. It's less fun eating inside but the food is still good. My brother-in-law and I shared baked Brie and shrimp cocktail to start. Snug Harbour has one of the best waterfront patios in the GTA. The restaurant is quite big, with a good sized covered patio (useful for rainy days or as shade on very sunny days). Service is excellent, and the food is top-notch. Their menu is seafood-heavy, and they do seafood really well here. Marinara Mussels - Decent portion (comes in a big bowl), with 4 slices of toasted bread. Rainbow Trout - One of my favourite dishes here. The rainbow trout comes in 2 big pieces, which are cooked very well (crispy at the top, well cooked inside). Sea Scallops - Big, plump, deliciously seasoned. Love the bronzed and light crust at the top. Canadian Whitefish - A bit too creamy / buttery-tasting for me, but it's stuffed with crab, scallops, and black tiger shrimps. The sides (roasted potatoes, rice, vegetables) are all really good as well. Even the Market Salad is nicely crisp, fresh, and not overly dressed (light house dressing). I like that the Market Salad comes with mushrooms, not just lettuce and tomatoes. Overall it's great value for your bucks - everything from the food and service, to the summer patio ambiance. It didn't quite go and overpowered the dish. The clam chowder was also good, but I would have liked to see a few more clams. They were tiny and not many in there. Scenery: excellent. My girlfriend and I dined there during lunch time so couldn't get an outdoor seating but it wouldn't bother us. The view is excellent for the restaurant Parking: we came there around 1230 so it's during rush hour but couldn't have much trouble finding parking next to the restaurant. Final thoughts, don't let the price scare you away. My moto is, if the food and the scenery are worth it, it's worth the price. It's so rare to enjoy every dish you order at a restaurant, but Snug Harbour happened to be one of them. Had to line up (wait up to an hour!) for previous visits, but we got patio seating with a view of the pier/lighthouse for this lunch. The restaurant kept having customers come in and out well into late afternoon. The windows face the west and overlook the harbour -- will come during sunset hours next visit. I loved the Smoked Salmon Pizza -- the salmon is not lox (not sure if it has been cured), and it is very tender and juicy. The artichoke slices and mozzarella complement the salmon extremely well. The Seafood Pescatore consists of linguine with shrimp, scallops, veggies in lobster sauce, and it is also a must-order. The sauce is consistent, refreshing, and not overly creamy. The seafood is also very fresh. Will try the Seafood Ravioli next time. Almost every table orders the Fish & Chips. Personally think they fry fish better than restaurants in London do -- they managed to lock-in the juice in the haddock and incorporate airiness into the fried batter. Crunch and tenderness combined, I might have enjoyed this even more than I enjoy fried chicken. Make sure to lather every bite generously with the tartar sauce -- I love dipping French fries in it too! Crispy, fresh French fries (no black spots, not under/overfried). Long story short: you're here for the view and not the food. And the service is excellent. I wouldn't say the food is bad by any means but it falls short compared to the other aspects of the restaurant. It's located along the harbour as its name hints. The wait time on a Thursday summer night at 7pm for the patio is about 30 mins, whereas inside is immediate. Ordered the clam chowder, calamari, Marinara and traditional mussels, Canadian whitefish, and seafood pescatore. Overall the seafood is fresh but flavour and presentation wise, it should have been more elevated considering the high prices. The calamari was too sliced too thinly for me that it was too much batter & oily. The clam chowder was tasty but on the thicker side. The mussels were well cooked. I liked the marinara more than traditional because it was more flavourful but that was debatable between the people at my table. The seafood pasta and Canadian whitefish had a subtle lobster flavour to the cream. I only wish the lobster flavour was more pronounced and the cream was lighter. A hint of acidity would have been nice to cut through the heavy cream and wake the tastebuds more. I did enjoy the large shrimps in the pescatore. The service is really good. Looked like a lot of young students working summer jobs but they were all very well trained. Everyone was attentive, quick, and professional. read more

Gem of Port Credit - right on the water and you can watch the boats as you wait for a table. We went as a group of 7 and waited a bit over an hour. Arrive earlier and put your name on the list and walk around! Food was pricey and portion sizes were okay, you are paying for the experience and location. Parking was terrible as expected in Port Credit, if you go during peak time you'll have to pay. We ordered calamari, coconut shrimp, and bruschetta to split at the table. There were 4 shrimps and 4 bruschetta, perfect if you are coming in a group of 4. Calamari was just okay for me, pretty thin. We also tried the oysters, $3.50 is pretty pricey for 1 oyster! I ordered a fish and chips, I enjoyed the fries the most as they tasted like Costco fries! My friends ordered salmon, fish tacos, and burgers. A few also ordered drinks. Caveat: This review is more about the real estate than the food. If you're at Port Credit and want to relax at a patio, then there's no competition, Snug Harbour is the place to be!! They have a wrap around patio with amazing views. Facing Lakeshore, you will have a great view of the parked boats, on the side, a great view of the canal and depending where you are facing, you can be looking at the bridge and the lighthouse or the impressive lake. On the back end of the restaurant, an amazing view of the lake. You will see boats drive by the canal and the ambiance it creates is just so relaxing. We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Seafood Ravioli and the key lime pie for dessert. The mac & cheese was not bad but it was not anything special either as I found it to be a little bland. The seafood ravioli however was really good and is the reason I gave the high food score. The ravioli itself was done well but it was the sauce in this dish that really made it stand out. I do not know how to describe the taste but it was really good and went well with the ravioli. Finally I found the key lime pie to be pretty good as I really enjoyed the tangy flavour on a hot summer day. The location of the restaurant is superb and it was great dining with a beautiful view of the lake. The restaurant itself was fairly well decorated and I found the place to be comfortable and relaxing. All in all I enjoyed my experience at Snug Harbour. I was not impressed with this restaurant. I came here for dinner and the menu was very limited for someone who is both gluten and dairy free. The Breakdown: Food: Not so great; Not allergy friendly Service: Excellent Ambiance: Nice We started our meal with some oysters, which tasted delicious! I have to give them credit for having yummy oysters but they only had two varieties to choose from. We ordered both to try and I really liked the Raspberry Points oysters, which were much more sweet and creamy than the French Kiss oysters. However, my friend preferred the French Kiss oysters. The menu had what looked like an amazing swordfish dish but the waitress told me the chef would not be able to make it dairy free. At other restaurants, they would be more than willing to customize the dish to my dietary restrictions. I was kind of surprised by this attitude and slightly disappointed. I ended up ordering the rainbow trout plain with no seasoning since it was the only thing the waitress recommended for my diet. I found the fish creamy but it was really bland. I slathered lemon juice all over it but it still didn't have a lot of flavour. My meal also came with vegetables, which were supposed to be steamed but they were very flavourful and my friend said they tasted like they had butter on them as his were supposed to be steamed as well. Let's just say, he was probably right because shortly after I ate my meal, I began to have terrible stomach cramps and other issues associated with lactose intolerance. My meal also came with mini potatoes. I have to say, the potatoes were the most flavourful thing on my entire plate. They tasted delicious! I was very happy with the service. Our waitress did an amazing job at refilling our water and checking in on us. The view of the harbour was also really nice and I enjoyed the live entertainment. With that being said, I would probably not return to this restaurant.
