We had dinner at the tavern tonight. The restaurant has always been clean and comfortable, very cozy feel. The young man that was our waitstaff member was so accommodating and very knowledgeable, he answered all of our questions, and recommended some good white wine. We had the harvest salad with grapes, slivers of pears and a little dressing, this one I have to admit wasn't my favourite, I wish I got Ceasar salad, which is always pretty good here. The mains, we chose the stew and it was delicious sitting in a bed of mash? And the salmon and potatoes, which is always delicious! We enjoyed some sticky toffee pudding which wasn't sticky enough needs more sauce, but was still tasty, I would get it again... and the cheese cake, which was a little under done and runny in the corner end, but the compote was delicious seasonal Barrie's. read more

My husband expected this to be a sports bar and I jokingly told him it was probably more upscale and I ended up being correct. While there's TV's it certainly doesn't encourage interacting with the game. Where we were sat didn't even have a TV, which was fine since we were there before a concert. It's in a prime spot, perfect for office workers, tourists, and residents, same with the Fox next door. The food here is okay; it might surprise you if you're not expecting too much. They renovated in 2022, but the inside still kept an old-fashioned style. Prices have gone up since they also updated the menu. We tried the Miami Short Ribs, which were tasty but a bit greasy. They could improve the presentation by draining off some of the oil. The Tuna Tartare was good, and the Prime Rib Dip was decent, though you might find a better one for the same price outside of downtown. Their Baby Gem Salad was fresh, with pear and candied walnuts adding a nice touch. It's a decent green mix, but again you might find better quality salads uptown for a similar price. Service was average, but I liked the chill vibe, after all, it's rare to find a quiet spot downtown, so that's a big plus. This place deserves a lot more love than it's getting from the people posting reviews here. Solid bar food for reasonable prices given the fact that it's located in the heart of a major metropolitan area (that is near the arena and probably draws a lot of tourists like us). I had the Caesar salad and shared the French Onion burger with my sister in law. Both were delicious as were the fries (oh, and the gravy!!!) Others had the Chicken Club and Fish and Chips. All good! We got the oysters Rockefeller and truffle Mac and cheese side to start - NOT disappointed. I scraped every last bit of the sauce from the m&c skillet. Before the Toronto Rock game this evening, Gord and I had supper at the Miller Tavern, which is near the Air Canada Centre. We were seated in the bar area Gord ordered the Swiss Mushroom Burger. It was quite a hearty burger and he enjoyed it. He said he'd get it again. I ordered a Slow Roasted Turkey Club (without lettuce and cheese) and it was good too! We mentioned that we planned to split the salmon and the short rib - our server bought the food with plates and utensils to make splitting easy. Desserts are decadent and delicious. Great food, friendly and attentive service. The ambiance is nice. Decor looks old school but is actually new decor well designed to provide the feel of a longtime tavern. The place was not crowded when we ate. We were seated near a large group and we enjoyed our meal without hearing their conversation or feeling too close. Came here for a team lunch for Xmas cause it is close by the office. Luckily we did make a reservation though, or else this place gets quite packed. Anyhow, the atmosphere is like any other pub and the service was just alright. But the food was just alright, so nothing too thrilling here. I ordered a Strongbow and the shrimp pasta. Rating: 3 1/2* (2 1/2* to 3* for the food and I will say that is a solid 4* for the cocktails) We were going to a concert at the Air Canada Centre and decided to have dinner beforehand. We picked the Miller as it is conveniently located just minutes from the ACC along with a public parking right in front of it. We made a reservation as we figured that it will probably be busy because of the concert and the dinner rush. We were seated promptly when we arrived and it was a good idea that we made the reservation as the place was very busy. Place is big and spacious as we were seated in a booth near the entrance. Our waiter was great as he was attentive and told us about the specials and some of the dishes in the menu. We went with Crab Cakes to start and ordered the Chicken Schnitzel, the Kebabs and the Halibut as main. We also ordered the Red Mule Cocktail. The food started right as the cocktails and the crab cakes were excellent. However, the mains were just average at best. With the prices that they are charging for them, it was quite disappointing how average they were. It seems their close proximity to the ACC, keeps people coming to this place. I was staying at the Westin Harbour Castle for business and needed a good Friday night meal before heading back home. I Googled around for steak, and stumbled across this gem, which was less than a five minute walk from the hotel. I opted for the Filet Minion (medium rare) with a lobster tail and sauteed mushrooms. There was a Wings-Leafs preseason hockey game on, and was pleasantly surprised to see that I had an unobstructed front row seat at the bar to watch the game. Friendly staff as well. I was inquiring about WiFi, and before I could ask, the concierge person came up to me, shook my hand (as if we were long-time friends), and then asked me if I needed anything. Very very awesome, and I believe its those little things in life that truly make a difference. Great stop, and will come back again. read more

Backed after 2 years and still not impress with the food. A group of us dropped by Millers because everywhere else was full before a raptors game. I should have learned my lesson from my last experience but I'm old and I forget easily, yup, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. I ordered the pad Thai based on our waiter's recommendation. He said they actually make the sauce in house but he failed to say, the sauce is no good! At least in my opinion. My pad Thai was drenched in pad Thai sauce and it was very salty. I was dying of thirst at the game. My friend said his poke bowl was just ok too. Word of advice, just stick to the bar food people! read more

This review is about the Harvey's burger I had to get afterwards because apparently the Miller doesn't do individual bills in groups and I wasn't going to impose a bill for $200 in apps, steak, and sides before drinks on people being forced to split a tab. I had two pints over at least as many hours to be polite with the group I was with, and was very surprised to feel more welcome at a Chili's than a place that affects being that upmarket. Harvey's burgers aren't what they once were, but if you get onion rings, it makes up for it. They're fast, open after you leave the Miller, and they will take your money. read more

The food and the services are good, however, too expensive for fish and seafood. I ordered halibut. It is fine, not over cooked, but small portion for $33. They also charge 18% gratuity automatically on the bill, no matter how's the service and quality, which is too much when compared with the norm of 15%. read more

The restaurant looks great at first since it's very spacious, clean and modern. So it was in the evening after a hot day and my friends and I sat outside at first. Then we noticed it was getting chilly so we asked the waiter if we can sit inside. The waiter did not seem pleased with the request and had some attitude about it. The waiter seemed very annoyed with us. So he sat us inside anyway and ordered our food. The food was a bit pricey for what we actually ordered. I ordered the Steak Frites which was ok. It can definitely serve 2 if you want to save some money. The food was good but I wasn't really impressed with the meals since it's very similar to a lot of restaurants we have been too. We only stayed for a quick dinner and overall I was not impressed with the food or the service. But if you want to stop by for a quick drink or stop by to eat something quickly before going out then this is an ok place. Just know it's a bit overpriced! read more

Two words: Crab cakes They make my mouth water just thinking about them. I crave them. They are delicious and make me happy. While waiting for crab cakes, they have a fantastic variety of Manhattan cocktails. I have tried each one, and the Vieux Carre Manhattan is simply the best. I've been told they make their own cocktail cherries by aging them in brandy and sugar, but no matter where they came from they take the cocktail over the top! Unfortunately, I've never found anything outstanding for the main course, though nothing bad either. Considering the cost, I would give a rating of 3 if it were based on the entrees alone. For a memorable dessert, the Black Bottom Pecan Pie with cinnamon ice cream is a brilliant combination of sweet caramel, dark chocolate and cinnamon. The service is usually excellent and sometimes phenomenal. For the crab cakes, Manhattans, or the pecan pie alone, the Miller Tavern is well worth the visit and for a new establishment, it shows great promise. read more

I ordered their daily special, which was moules-frites (mussels and fries) for dinner on a weekend. I was super excited as it is a classic Belgian dish that I fancied ordering whenever the option was available. The price was also reasonable, at around twenty bucks before tax and gratuities. The moules-frites came in a rich white sauce and a pretzel on top. The sauce was very flavorful and blended with the fries, which made it even tastier! However, the pretzel was really really salty. It felt like the pretzel was dunked in salt and I had to try to scrape it off (did not work) - I did not end up eating the pretzel at all, which was a shame. The portion size was good, although I wish they separated out the fries with the mussels (where other places usually do), as although the sauce was great to dip with the fries, it also made the fries soggy at the end of the meal. As well, the mayo that was given as the dipping for fries was also on the plate, so it was overload of sauces which made the overall dish a bit strong on the flavour and richness. I would recommend ordering this if you like seafood, but make sure you ask for mayo on the side, and less salt on the pretzel! read more

For a restaurant that looks fairly upscale, the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Salmon benedict, and was surprised the find only a sliver of salmon the size of my pinky. My friend ordered the same thing and at first thought the kitchen had forgotten her salmon. She literally had to dig for it like a treasure hunt. I love eggs benedict and order it at every restaurant that had it, and this is the first time I've had one that was not layered with smoked salmon and doused in hollandaise sauce. There was barely any sauce on my dish. The poached egg was also tasteless (Did the cook forget to poach the egg in vinegar?). For $15 (or so), you'd also expect a portion that would fill you up. Nope. I had to grab another meal right afterwards. I wanted to speak to the server about my dish (and almost everyone else in the party who were also disappointed with their meals), however no server was to be found until it was time for us to pay. I usually let bad experiences slide but this one was so particularly bad I had to write about it. Almost everyone in our party (about 20 people) were not satisfied with their meal (taste and portion). Great food, gorgeous interior, and really good service. Most people who come here in the evenings are the pre-game folk, who head off to the ACC once the games start, as clearly evidenced by the number of clientele wearing team jerseys! It's funny though, this is definitely not your typical bar. Very classy place. We were just here for the food and drinks though :) Started off with red and white glasses of wine, and the charcuterie board. It was delicious! Duck pate especially was rich and so good spread on crusty bread. Then our mains: 1) Special of the day: trout on celeriac croquette and carrot puree. The roasted trout and crunchy skin looked amazing, she devoured this pretty quickly so safe to say, she enjoyed it a lot. 2) Top sirloin, medium-rare with caesar salad: the steaks were recommended to me so I was excited to try it! It was just mouth-watering.. cooking perfectly, still red with juices, and good-sized portion. Very filling. Caesar salad was good too, not too heavily-dressed. 3) Miller Tavern burger with sweet potato fries: I tried a bite of this and really liked it! I rarely order burgers when I go out but I would order this! The bun is this soft brioche but is really sturdy, and can hold all the ingredients together well. Not super messy to eat like some burgers. And you can never go wrong with sweet potato fries! Later on, we moved to the bar to watch the hockey game on the screen and order some drinks. We had the Tavern Shandy, with Steam Whistle pilsner and St. Germaine in it, really good actually. I don't even usually like lemon! Also had the bartender make us one of his special drinks, maple-flavoured whisky and other things, can't remember but it was a strong drink! I was on a first date here, and we were charged $60 for 3 beers and a plate of nachos (which were not even nachos, just Doritos with a bit of cheese, sour cream and mystery meat on top). The bill was absolutely embarrassing, to the point where instead of getting angry, we just laughed. Thank God we ended up getting along so well, despite having paid $60 for absolutely nothing substantial. The servers were very polite and nice, but I would not recommend going here with their borderline criminal and scammy prices, and less than favorable appetizers. For a pub located right on Bay street, it left a lot to be desired. I could understand paying over $20 for a plate of nachos, if they were the best nachos in the world, but that is far, far from the case. If you like being charged $20 for a bag of Doritos, then definitely visit this pub. If not, pass it by in silence, and recognize that these places actually contribute to an ailing and bloated economy that I fear is now beyond saving. read more

SODIUM alert. First time here on August 20 for dinner. Great hospitality and staff so please this has nothing to do with service. The chef's favorite spice must be salt. We spent 400 bucks and lesson learned, should have sent our steaks back. Even the seafood platters crab leg meat tasted like it was boiled in too much salt water. 12 hours later, we are still thirsty. If you want to enjoy the food there, ask ahead for low sodium. The Miller is an upscale tavern near the Scotiabank Arena. Good menu of tavern fare, craft beers and cocktails. Food is better than most taverns. I had an excellent burger, moist and thick, with thick cut fries. Some condiments like mustard, relish, hot sauce would have made it better. Service is good and servers are friendly. Seating is more like a good quality restaurant than a tavern. There's nothing unique about the menu or drinks but The Miller is a cut above other places in the tavern category.
