Overall: 3.5/5 Every Monday and Tuesday, Bar Hop offers buck-a-shuck oysters with the purchase of an alcoholic beverage. The drinks were just okay (I'm typically not a beer person), but our group was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food as we were expecting sub-par bar food. We ordered the Bone Marrow Poutine, Cauliflower Bites (tossed in honey gochujang sauce), Chicken Liver Parfait (with beer jelly), and Wonton Nachos (topped with bulgogi beef, cucumber kimchi, sriracha mayo, bulldog sauce, and scallions + sesame seeds). The Asian twist gave these dishes a lot more flavour, with extra points for the uniqueness of the dishes. The poutine was perfectly greasy and smothered with cheese curds and gravy - exactly how you want it. We ordered a few dozen oysters for the table which tasted fresh. On the side, we ordered breaded pickles and the empanadas which were a special. Service and interior is what you would expect from a bar.
Standard pub on king street close to the Rogers centre. They also have another location nearby which has happy hour (this location does not have) but they have buck a shuck on Mondays and Tuesdays. We got a few drinks and got some oysters, cauliflower bites and deep fried pickles. Pretty good spot to get some light snacks and drinks.
Darlene, Gord and I had supper at Bar Hop on King Street W yesterday. I had a Bacon Burger (single 4oz beef brisket patty topped with double smoked bacon, pickles and 90s sauce and served on a Martins potato bun). Gord had an OG Cheeseburger (single 4oz beef brisket patty topped with shredded lettuce, aged cheddar, caramelized onions, pickles and mustard and served on a Martins potato bun). Darlene had a Where's The Beef? (single 4oz Beyond Meat patty topped with shredded lettuce, dairy-free cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard and served on a Martins potato bun). All were very good! Sky was friendly and helpful and took good care of us).
BarHop is a great place for bites and drinks! We tried their general tao califlower bites, bone marrow poutine, and braised beef pot pie. I enjoyed the califlower bites a lot more than I expected - the sauce paired well and it was cooked perfectly, so they weren't too hard but also weren't mushy. I do like myself the occasional bone marrow but found it a bit too heavy on top of the poutine! As seperate items they were amazing, but only go for this if you're looking for a very hearty meal! The pot pie was also good and I appreciated the salad to balance all the other dishes. I didn't try their drinks but their menu is very extensive - this would be the perfect place for happy hour!
I had the Pesto Riciotta Gnocchi. I wanted it as soon as I saw it on the menu. And I was rewarded with a delicious mix of house made pesto, blistered tomatoes with lemon ricotta on top. The Nashville Chicken Sandwich was also popular with my companions. Service was timely and friendly. Music was a bit loud to talk to anyone but those sitting next to you. All in all, good experience.
Bar Hop is a very nice location for some pre-drinking. They have a very nice selection of beers on tap. They also have a very nice liquor selection. I had a Saison beer which was deliciously refreshing. I also had Mezcal Amores Verde Momento which was excellent. The bar tender was very friendly and well versed on beers and liqueurs.
Bar Hop has a couple of locations, strangely I'd never been to this one despite living beside it for years. Well I finally went, and was not disappointed! The bar had great vibes, service, and music - perfect for a hangout with friends. Their beer selection is incredible, with some very rare beers that I'd been scouring the city for. Food is pretty good all around, and they have some solid wings / burgers / apps. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area!
From the outside this place looks closed lol. It's black from the outside and you can barely see any light through the windows. Don't let the empty patio fool you, this place is pretty happening, even on a weekday. Try the diverse beer menu. Everyone comes here for drinks, but the food is pretty good too! I came on Buck-A-Shuck Tuesdays ... which no one really cared about because they were drinking lol. But every Tuesday after 5pm, there's fresh Oysters for $1. Delish. The radish and mustard provides a strong kick. Their Savoury Pie - braised meat or vegetarian pies were delicious. Very light, fakey and not dry at all. "The Burger" was also filling, tons of toppings - Tamshire Bacon, Aged Cheddar, Bone Marrow Aioli, Tomato, Onion, Pickle & Iceberg Lettuce, topped with a Rice Krispies & Ruffles Breaded Onion Ring.
While enjoying the last bit of sunshine in SEptember, I headed to this bar while I was waiting for some friends to finish work so we could go to dinner. Luckily I came here just before the happy hour crowd as I managed to get a seat at the bar. This place is pretty tiny and it got crowded fast. But the beer selection is pretty extensive and the servers are really friendly and knowledgeable as when i had a few questions they made some recommendations and it was obvious that they knew what they were talking about. Try to come before the after work rush to get a table and you will be fine. Otherwise a lineup can start forming.
Stopped by on a Friday night after work, planned to meet a friend before heading to a company holiday party. My friend arrived a bit earlier than me and staff said wait time would be 20 minutes. It was quite packed and only got busier as the night continued. They do not take reservations so plan accordingly if coming here. We were seated at the bar and didn't mind at all cause we were only going to grab a drink and go. Staff here are quite nice and accommodating, even remembered us later and asked if we wanted a table again as a table cleared. We declined only cause we were both too lazy to move and only grabbing a drink. Lol. The bartender that served us was super nice and allowed me a little taste test before I selected my drink. I wanted a sweet and light drink but was unsure with what to go with. He first recommended the Strawberry Milkshake IPA, which was sweet, a hint of strawberry but a bit of a dry aftertaste to it. I wasn't too into it. So he kindly then recommended the Side Launch wheat ale, Hefewizen style. Alcohol 5.4% at $7.25. Decided on this one cause it was light, smooth and somewhat sweet. Liked it much better than Strawberry and I really appreciated the time the bartender took until I was happy with my order. I would definitely recommend this place for friends and maybe dates if you don't mind a lively atmosphere and loud noises. It's a small space but cozy. Very casual atmosphere.
Toronto Tourist tripping on a Thursday afternoon and wanted to bar hop downtown and this place pops up via yelp....this was meant to be. Service: We sat at the bar and encountered Friendly friendly chatty bartenders that enhanced the drinking experience. On the tap beer menu, along the name they also listed it's: Style, origin, and ABV which we appreciated. In the end, we just old our bartender what beers we normally like and she'd send us some suggested samples before committing to an order. I wish other things in life were that simple but it's simple and friendly at Bar Hop. Beers: Here are the my two favorite beers I've never had before until Bar Hop: Halo Tangerine Shapeshifter = sour IPA w/ tangerine @ 6.5% ABV. West Ave. Heritage Dry = New World Heritage Cider @ 6.5% ABV. I'm not really a cider drinker but this cider wasn't too sweet the 6.5% ABV was a bonus. If I see these two back home in Vegas, I'll definitely order again. This is a very cool beer house vibe with lots of dark wood EVERYWHERE. The bar was well stocked with premium liquor and bottled beers. The rotating craft beer taps was the main reason we stopped by and the Bar Hop did not disappoint. The friendly staff really made the experience and the next time I'm looking for a drink in the downtown Toronto area, Bar Hop is the place I'll be leaning towards Eh! Enjoy yourself...

Always come to Bar Hop on King for the Buck-a-Shuck (usually on Mondays or Tuesdays) and honestly, for the $1 oysters, it is pretty good quality. The red wine mignonette is spot on. The oysters are usually smaller, but I mean, you can't complain for the price you're getting. We had a few Aperol spritzes and were very happy with them. I do prefer the patio compared to the indoor seating as it's quite dark in there. Service was very fast too the last time we went, but we also went right when they opened at 4pm so maybe that was the case. Either way, I'd recommend Bar Hop as a casual day or evening out. read more

Probably one of the most laid back vibe bars we visited in the entertainment district. The vibe was cool as was the service we received. We tried the chicken bites and had a few cocktails. Everything was pretty solid, the chicken bites could have used a bit more of the namesake sauce but they were fried well and served hot. Perfect neighborhood bar in a busy district, the ambiance they've created is impressive. read more

This place has changed its menu and has soooo many options now. It was hard for me to choose! I started with the spicy margarita which was super delicious and refreshing. The downfall is the gnocchi poutine, which was just bland and weird to be honest. I think the server was surprised when I ordered it and now I know why.. I heard the burgers are good and would recommend trying that. read more

Wide selection of beer to choose from. A perfect spot for groups of people. It can get very noisy but it's a nice atmosphere to have, especially on a Saturday night. A personal favourite on the beer menu is Rorschach Truth Serum. It has a fruity aroma but does not lose the bitterness of a beer . Steamed mussels was a good pick from the food menu. It came with bread and sweet potato fries Awesome! read more

An evening at Barhop and I was "hop"ping home in a good mood... A huge improvement in the food menu and now they have 36 beers on tap + 2 casks with a rotating selections! Gnocchi Poutine ($8.95) is a "healthier" version since nothing is deep fried? Quite filling and great to keep my tummy full while I drink my beers. I tried some imported and local beers: Dieu du Ciel Peche Mortel Liefmans Fruitbeir Sawdust City Whiskey Barrel Aged Long, Dark Voyage to Uranus Beau's Wag The Woof Hopfenseisse Beau's Beaver Ricer I.P. Eh? (Cask) Ommegang BPA County Durham Blak Katt Stout If you not sure what you want to drink, you can order 5oz sample glasses or you can ask the bartender who is really knowledgeable and can answer all your questions! If I drank beer, I would definitely drink it here because they serve it in these fancy glasses and watching the bar tender pour beer is mesmerizing, which is a very good distraction when waiting for a table. Came here for the Mussel Monday special and was VERY satisfied. The wait was about half an hour and I did not mind at all because the aroma of the place just built up my appetite. Got the mussels with lager jerk, which came with a side of fries and half a loaf of crispy warm bread. My friend doubted I could finish it all, but damn I proved her wrong, and it was worth every bite. The mussels were soft and chewy and the sauce gave a bit of a kick, not too spicy with the bread and perfectly fried fries to cool down your palette. She got the portebello cream soup which was amazing and the veggie pie, which I forgot to try because I was too busy stuffing my mouth with my own food. The restaurant died down around 8pm, but beware this was also around the time they ran out of mussels. Definitely going to make this place a regular, especially with patio season around the corner. So excited to try their other menu items. read more
I came here for the oyster deal on Tuesdays in addition to impressive beer selection. Oysters were a disaster and we ended up sending most of em back. Thankfully they charged us half for the oysters. The beer selection is quite impressive with a lot of options on draft and is comparable to a nicer joints with beer focus (some stuff from Unibrue, Delirium Tremens etc. etc.) I had the Le Trappe on draft (a hard to find brew as one can locate bottles at LCBO once in a while) The interior is cozy but is functional. A couple of tables serve the patio. Service was OK. I will hold the verdict for the food when I revisit for the beer a solid 4 stars. read more
Came here for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. It was packed at ten o'clock so some of us had to wait until we could join the rest of the party. As others have mentioned, the drink menu is extensive. Their specialty is beer, but Barhop also has a healthy number of wine and whisky options. I really liked the vibe here; it's casual and you don't have to dress up to enjoy yourself here. The only downside (which fortunately lasted for five minutes max) was the encounter at the door. It was packed (I get it), but there was no communication with the doorman and the hostess. The hostess was extremely rude; if you find hospitality stressful, perhaps another industry would be better. Anyway, as I said, it was for a short period of time that I encountered the rudeness; our server was excellent. I also had an awesome time so I'll be back. Good for: casual drinks read more

I found this place through Blog T.O. for their buck a shuck specials on Tuesday after 5pm. Just from looking in from the outside, it didn't look busy because of the black tinted windows, but when we walked in....this place with bumping with a huge crowd, majority being business men who have jus finished work. On my first visit - which was on a Buck a Shuck day, I waited maybe 30 minutes before getting a table. The oysters were yummy, but I was very surprised by the beer selection that they had because they had a different variety from a lot of other bars that I have been to in Toronto. From my most recent visit - which was a Wednesday, we had gotten a table right away. I went to this bar with my co-worker and he had ordered a coffee infused with coconut beer - which was interesting in taste, because I could taste the coffee but not the coconut. I had ordered a lighter beer with a very sweet after taste. Food wise, he had fish and chips (halibut - 2 pieces) and I had the thai basil mussels. The batter on the halibut was very crispy and delicious. They had deep fried string beans, coleslaw and fries. The dish was definitely enough to feed two people. The thai basil mussels came in a huge plate with a lot of broth and a loaf of bread that was sliced up. At first, I was surprised they gave me a huge loaf of bread but it was awesome because I got to soak it up with the broth of the mussels. The broth was bursting with a lot of thai flavors. I would definitely come back for the food and drinks. read more

Ok. Now that you are here you should try their diverse drink menu. In foods go with juicy beef deep sandwich or if you want something lighter go with Spinach dip. the fact that they don't come to take your order is not pleasant so better put some money on Tap. read more

Small bar on King Street west, just east of Spadina ave on the south side. BAR Hop is a small, cozy bar serving up a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Their food menu is selective with creativity behind it. Vibe is warm with the brown, wooden, oak finishes which gives it a cozy environment. Weekends the place is packed with customers along the bar counters and booth / table seating as you venture towards the back. Service is great We had their Garnacha, Spanish wine for drinks. Food wise we ordered the Trini: mountain of curried chick peas with tamarind sauce Lastly a Basket of fries, simple yet good. Overall great cozy hangout. read more
We went on a Monday to eat the mussels combo special for $9.99. You get a bowl of mussels which you can choose 4 different sauces. I chose the most spicy one but I can't hardly taste the spice, but I can take a lot of spice. There is a small basket of fries and a piece of bread to go with the mussels. The table was a bit small for the people seated, but we managed by sharing the trash bowl to save space. They do have a nice selection of beers. read more
My boyfriend and I were in town from Buffalo and had some time to kill before a dinner reservation. We were walking around looking for somewhere to grab a drink and decided to stop here. The customer service was quick and friendly and they had a nice little patio to sit on! The drink menu was pretty extensive as far as beers and ciders go, but none of the cocktails stuck out to me. The server was super friendly and accommodating and did not seem to mind that we were only in and out for one drink. I almost wish that we didn't have dinner reservations because the food menu looked delicious! I will certainly keep this place in mind for dinner when I'm in town next time; I would love to come back. read more
