Came where with 2 friends to get some drinks on a Tuesday night. 3 beers and fries came to $42 with tax and tip. Service (5 stars) the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Food (5 stars) Sweet potatoes fries were good, for $9 likely on the expensive end. I enjoyed them. My friend got the burger and he liked it. Beers: They had a few draft beers already up and running, and were planning to get more soon (Covid restrictions were just lifted) Ambiance: (4 stars) we were in the back patio, there are around 6 tables there. It has a cozy feeling, with lots of old school memorabilia (fits well in the Roncesvalles vibe)

An empty glass of what was delicious Harry Porter!

Came here on Friday night for a snack and a beer. My girlfriend had the steak and I had the beef ribs. Both were delicious and very good value for money! I was surprised and how good they were, I wasn't expecting that much from the Pub food here. I also had a Harry Porter (from Great Lakes Brewery) which was mucho delicious! Atmosphere was also very nice. We arrived at 7 pm and the bar was already 75% full. Means its a very popular spot and rightly so!

    Great duo

Stopped in for a drink on a Wednesday nite and this place was packed! Had a nice selection of craft beer and was happy with our choices. The Mr and I had just come from a Johnny Cash tribute show (not great, but that's a whole different review!) and were happier with the duo that was on stage playing than what we had just seen! The atmosphere was awesome, and the only reason for a missing star was where we were seated. We seemed in the way and awkward but I will definitely be back! Loved this place.

Fish and chips were okay, but not great. Salad was a nice touch.

This place is close and the ambiance is super chill! We came while someone was playing live music inside and could hear it from the patio. The food here is not especially great and definitely not cheap, but the beer is good! We got the fish and chips (which was underwhelming as the fries were not hot enough, and the batter was too thick, but salad was a nice touch) and the chicken wings (which were nice and meaty, though a little over done and definitely needed some kind of seasoning...also only 6 for 14$ seems quite steep, but maybe my "suburbs" is showing). The best part is the patio and the clientele. I LOVE bars with older couples, and a friendly one that was leaving recommended good beer and offered kind conversation. Also, patio is nicely shaded, and GREAT FOR PEOPLE WATCHING (which is so lovely on a street like Roncesvalles). Would come back for drinks, but maybe not for food.

Delicious burger! Great beers on tap! Servers were great! And they had live music! I was surprised by the quality of the food.

Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. This man is a treasure--a multitalented musician who plays in many bands including The Lemon Bucket Orkestra. In season, you can catch Michael playing trumpet and singing with a jazz band on the back patio on Saturday evenings (5-8pm). The patio, accessible via an alleyway off Rolyat Street, feels like one of this neighbourhood's best kept secrets. Such a fun, chill vibe back there. Perhaps these Saturday shows will eventually move back inside, where they were held in the beforetimes, when the band sat cheek by jowl with customers in one of the city's most "intimate" performance venues. But whether Michael is performing behind the bar or on the back patio, the man is a marvel of multitasking. He'll perform part of a tune, set the trumpet down as the band plays on, take people's orders, prepare and serve drinks, and then pick up the trumpet and continue the song. So freaking cool. He also hosts a unique music listening event on Monday nights called Decide on the B-Side...don't forget to bring your favourite vinyl. As for the drinks, nothing fancy here, just a decent beer list and hard booze, mostly. But as described above, this bar is so much more. It's chock full of fun and character.
