    3-Cheese Truffle Charity Bread
    Ashwini F.

If you have ever wondered, 'might I like (goat cheese or something else) if I tasted a good quality one?', then this is the place you should come to, to settle that. The best thing about this restaurant is they make everything from scratch, and it enhances the taste of whichever dish you try to a maximum. I got a taster of mozzarella with the samples of all of their 'Fresh Mozzarella' section (bomba, balsamic truffle, etc.). Those were incredible! The pizza was great too. The 3-Cheese Charity Bread is out of this world! And so is Tiramisu! I have never tasted a richer tiramisu paired with dark chocolate. I would go here again for a special occasion in a heartbeat. As for ambiance, it is grand, and old-worldly, and service staff is the best. Excellent experience overall.

I love a good seafood pasta. I've been going to Scaddabush, Square One location for many years now, probably since it opened. The Caesar Salad is crisp and not overdressed. This is probably one of the few restaurants that still offer crispy bacon on top. I normally order the Shrimp Puttanesca which has a slightly spicy Arrabbiata tomato sauce. This time around, we visited on 'National Spaghetti Day" and received 50% off our spaghetti entrees as part of a restaurant promotion. My husband ordered the Spaghetti & Meatball. Portion size is just right and filling. We also like to order the Fresh Mozzarella with Prosciutto from time to time, but prices are getting steep so we order it only for special occasions. Some of the booths are a little tight and don't leave much space in front - we aren't big people. Overall, we receive excellent service. Atmosphere is great, and I'm glad they take reservations through their app as the place can get busy.

The mozzarella was freshly made and delicious. I had the lemon garlic shrimp spaghetti which was delicious!! I'd get it again. The rest of the meals were ordered by my team and they loved their dishes too. Highly recommend!!!

visiting the area with a friend and decided on scaddabush. ambiance was super nice, i loved the moody lighting and cute decorations, but the music included current radio hits, which didn't really match LOL. i ordered the zucca ravioli and i thoroughly enjoyed! the flavor was different from what i expected but was not disappointed at all. had nice flavors of the zucchini and squash, with small bits of carrots. it wasn't necessarily exceptional, but good nonetheless. i also got the basil mango drink and they were not light on the basil, definitely not for everyone but i liked it (unfortunately forgot to take a pic) our server, deep, was very sweet and constantly checked up on us, offering any extra refreshments and assistance. food came out in a timely manner as well, although my drink took a little longer

The food was fantastic, the ambience was fun and kitschy, the service was prompt and it looked like the wait staff enjoy working there. . It is a great place to bring your family and have a great meal.

This review could be much longer than it is. Cutting to the chase, a former colleague, who became my friend, needed a reference. I wrote one and had a good feeling that she'd get the job. She did and we thought that we'd celebrate with a third friend. The original thought was for all of us to go shopping and then grab lunch. Our third friend LOVES to shop. Considering that I am saving up for an upcoming trip, I wished them fun shopping and we'd meet up for lunch. One good thing about being the person at work on the team who used to arrange outings and restaurant reservations, those who have befriended me have taken over those duties in real life. They found Scaddabush and asked if I'd be good with it. All three of us had never dined here. We all wanted to and said yes. We were to meet on a Saturday at 1:30 pm. We are all pretty good communicators. My friend with the new job said that this place doesn't do reservations for lunch on weekends. So, they would either get a table or I would, depending on who got there first. I got there at 1:20 pm and let them know that I'd head in to get us a table. There was lots of parking. They were just starting their walk across the parking lot to get here. There was a woman ahead of me in the line to get seated. I loved how cozy the interior looked. When it was my turn, I asked for a table for three. I was briefly interrupted by a person speaking into this woman's earpiece. After that discussion was over, she asked for my proof of vaccination and ID. She then asked whether I wanted to wait for my two friends in the waiting area or head over to the table. I looked back and my two friends were there. We said hi and I waved them over like they were VIPs. They showed their vaccination proof and ID, and we all got seated at a booth. For over two hours, we caught up on our lives and had a good time. We hadn't seen each other since Summer 2020. One still lives in Brantford. The other moved back to Oshawa, so meeting around Square One was perfect. We ended up with a trainee server with her regular mentor server. We started with drinks. I asked about sangria. This place has four different types. I knew that I'd love this place. I ordered a green sangria. My friends loved the sound of it that we got a pitcher. Our food tastes are similar. We started with bruschetta as our appetizer. We all got the mushroom truffle fettuccine. For dessert, two of us got the lemon sorbetto, and our friend with the new job got the vanilla maple gelato. We joked that we were horrified over the deviation, but it did sound yummy. The green sangria came out first. The new server poured some in our glasses, and we continued pouring until the pitcher was gone. Get this sangria! It's essentially white wine with blue Curacao, limoncello, passion fruit and apple juices, ginger ale, and fresh lemon juice. If you are in denial that it's autumn heading into winter, this sangria will give you summertime vibes. So refreshing! It was excellent. The bruschetta came out next. The presentation was lovely. Oddly, the tomatoes were sliced, which made eating each toasted bruschetta difficult. The slices kept falling off because they were large. They would have been better diced up. The chunks of roasted garlic on it were outstanding, so they made up for the large tomato slices. This appetizer was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. Our mains came out next. If you are a mushroom freak like I am, you will love this dish. The mushrooms are roasted. It has caramelized onions, brown butter alfredo sauce, spinach, roasted garlic, chives, pecorino and parmesan cheeses, and truffle oil. It's heaven in a dish. You get a spoonful of parmesan that you can sprinkle all over your food. The fettuccine is made in-house. It was so fresh and perfect. Everything in the mushroom truffle sauce was incredibly creamy and flavourful. Delicious! All three of us did not leave anything on our plates. This place has tiramisu on the menu, but I couldn't do it. I was so full. Instead, we opted for either gelato or sorbetto. We wanted dessert, but not a massive amount. This place is generous with frozen desserts. We were all expecting a scoop, but we got two in a pretty glass. I loved my lemon sorbetto (it's essentially sorbet that does not contain dairy). It was creamy and the lemon flavour was bright. I polished it all. Our other friend had a long day travelling to Kitchener to meet up with friends. She ended up getting a coffee when we first sat down and an espresso with her lemon sorbetto. Her espresso looked so cute that I had to take a photo of it. I loved dining here. The only downside was getting asked how everything was tasting twice as much with two servers. I was asked when I hadn't had any sorbetto yet. Ugh! We had a great time laughing, catching up, and having a late lunch here. I highly recommend coming here for good food in a cozy restaurant. (425)

The spaghetti carbonara is the best carbonara I've ever had! It has a great ratio of sauce and toppings to spaghetti so you can enjoy every bite. The cheesecake is fantastic and big enough to share! I've never had an issue here, the service is great and the food is tasty! Ps. The fresh homemade spaghetti can be made gluten free for an additional few dollars.

My party of four visited during Taste of Oakville, and in hindsight, the evening foreshadowed…read moreitself early -- the restaurant's website was down with a 404 error, and we kept finding two different addresses (one apparently their old location). We eventually found it. Upon arrival, the door swung open and struck a seated guest -- a sign of just how small the space is. The restaurant was full except for one four-top (clearly ours), and we stood awkwardly in the entrance -- which is essentially inside the dining room -- waiting to be acknowledged. When greeted, we were asked if we had a reservation. We said yes. "Table for eight?" we were asked, which felt impossible given the size of the room. We clarified four, and were pointed to the only open table. No name was requested; we realistically could have just walked in and taken it. The space is starkly lit with aggressive bright white lighting that feels more clinical than cozy. The artwork is interesting and gives a gallery-like feel -- it seems the restaurant is aiming for a downtown Toronto wine bar aesthetic, but it doesn't quite land. Our table was missing water glasses, and the stemware was mismatched -- not in an intentional, charming way, but more in a "we ran out" way. Once seated, we weren't acknowledged or offered water for nearly 20 minutes. Not rushing guests is one thing; leaving them feeling forgotten is another. When our server finally arrived, the service set the tone for the evening. One glass of water was poured before he realized another was missing. He disappeared, returned with a glass, inspected it mid-pour, then walked away again (dirty glass). After several more trips and long gaps, everyone eventually received water -- about 15 minutes later. He was polite and friendly, just clearly untrained. He shared that the owner is also the sommelier, cook, and server, and that he liked working there because he wasn't expected to know much about wine -- an interesting admission for a wine bar. The owner greeted us warmly but asked only one guest about wine preferences -- ironically the only non-wine drinker at the table. The concept appeared to be sommelier-led, though this was never explained. If that is the intention, engaging the entire table is essential. That said, the wines themselves were enjoyable; the service surrounding them was not. The Taste of Oakville menu promised three curated 3-oz pours paired with a charcuterie board for two. The pours arrived unevenly and slowly, with little explanation of the pairings. The charcuterie boards were plain and inconsistent between tables despite containing similar items -- basic fruit, crostini, simple cured meats, small portions of brie, and two slices of truffle cheese. No crackers, spreads, or thoughtful touches elevated the experience, and presentation varied noticeably. Our second wine pour didn't arrive until our mains, and service moved so slowly we requested a wine list to order a bottle. We were told there is no wine list -- "we're not that kind of restaurant." Instead, all reds are $80 and all whites $70, and the owner selects the bottle for you after asking only red or white. The concept might work if explained upfront; without context, it was confusing. At one point, noticing my empty glass, our server poured me a random red -- which turned out to be the same wine as our first pour -- and then left without serving anyone else. We had to remind staff we were still waiting for our second curated pour. Nothing about the experience felt curated. The most surprising moment of the night came when our mains arrived. As we lifted our appetizer plates -- still holding olive pits, fruit rinds, and crumbs -- the servers told us not to worry about clearing them and proceeded to place our main dishes directly on top of the used plates. I'm still shocked. I wouldn't do that at home, let alone expect it at a Lakeshore, or quite frankly, any restaurant. Two of us ordered the tagliatelle, which was tasty but contained only two small pieces of short rib -- and was difficult to enjoy while staring at discarded rinds beneath the plate. The other two ordered brisket sliders: two sliders, no sides. They tasted good but left diners hungry. One guest joked they kept thinking the fruit rinds were fries -- unfortunately accurate. We tried to make the best of the evening, but it never delivered the cozy wine-and-charcuterie experience we had anticipated -- dim lighting, thoughtful pairings, something special. After finishing our meal, we requested our bills and reminded staff we were still waiting for the third curated pour. We were told "five minutes." Those five minutes never came. Eventually, wanting simply to leave, we paid a single combined bill and sorted it out ourselves. Dinner for four totaled $460. This was not the boutique Lakeshore dining experience we expected, and ultimately, it was deeply disappointing.

There are better things to get. There was a special monkfish wrapped with bacon. Overcooked and small. Vegetables that came with it was nice Mushroom risotto here is much celebrated so we had to try. This tells me the people who eat here don't get out too often. It tastes ok but clearly tasted like truffle flavour was all from a bottle they poured onto it in the end. The truffle taste felt like it was on top of the dish instead of incorporated into the dish. Overall meh. It these guys have the audacity to charge downtown toronto prices. It's not that good. Service was mediocre. Got an Italian man who looked like he was there for awhile. Said the right things but was absent most of the time. Gave me a chipped plate and instead of replacing it he said he noticed the chip too. Well that makes you look worse dude. Had leftovers and they boxed it for us. Later found out they put our fried appetizer with the wet seafood. That kills the crisp and is pretty stupid to be honest.
