Amazing Italian restaurant with wonderful service. We were looking for a hearty meal, and we were so delighted to find this lovely place. It is extremely popular, as many of the tables were filled with patrons even on a weekday night. We ordered the lasagna and a pizza, and both were amazing. The lasagna was a generous portion, and I hardly made a dent in it before having to ask for a takeout box. Pizza is made fresh in a wood fire oven, so it had a lovely texture and that beautiful char. Went for a Father's Day dinner. We were seated on the far side of the restaurant right by the pizza oven and away from most everyone else. Our waitress took our order then never checked in. Two meals came and then we had to wait for the other two. We had to ask someone for fresh Parmesan when our meals arrived ( a server brought our meals). We had to ask for water refills. Despite at least ten to a dozen open tables ( and not being busy) we never saw our waitress again until she cleared our dishes. Then the owner started clearing our glasses and cutlery despite not even having our bill yet. Again lots of empty tables so no need to rush us out. Odd! We had to ask for our bill. Hidden in the low rise office buildings lies Ciao Ragazi - A hidden gem. You would not expect a nice sit down Italian restaurant at a location like this. And you certainly won't expect it to be this busy especially on Fridays and weekends. They were quite busy on a lazy Thursday as well. There was not an item that we've tried that disappointed. The margherita pizza was one of the better ones I've had in recent memory. The cheese had a good dairy taste and the sauce gave off a refreshing tomatoey flavour. The crust was a good marriage of doughy chewiness and slight crunch. All the pastas were homemade with an al dente texture. It really didn't matter if it's a cream based sauce or a tomato sauce, the flavours are on point. Out of all of the pastas I've tried, the wild boar which was part the day's special was the one that I'd least prefer. It's not bad, but I wouldn't say the taste of the meat was special in any way. And it was more of a ground up wild boar as opposed to chucks of meat. Would have preferred the latter. I really love their lasagna. Hearty, savoury and done right the Italian way. Pappardelle bolognese was equally nice. They also make a mean mushroom risotto. I have no clue why I spoke about main course first, but I can assure you that's not the order they were served. The arancini were a bit pricey, but again delicious. Caesar salad was solid, but would have preferred a bit more cheese shavings. I've never had dessert here so I can't comment on them. It was tempting to give Ciao Ragazi a 5 star rating, but the service was incredibly slow the first time I was there. I think the kitchen staff was just overwhelmed since the Asian gentleman in the open kitchen was responsible for salads, pizzas and desserts. Also, if they can tone down the sodium level by a pinch, it would have made their food near perfect. I'm a big fan of Ciao Ragazi and so is my family and as a result we've returned several times, both for dine in and takeout. read more

Enjoyed dinner here with some friends on a weekend night. It was not busy, perhaps because it is a bit tricky to find. Service was amazing, place was bright and clean, food was great. Nice glassed in private room by the entrance. We took our time ordering because we were so busy catching up. They did not rush us at all. Food was plentiful with three of the four of us taking some back home. We enjoyed: lasagna, veal, mushroom risotto and gnocchi. The gnocchi was mine - but next time I will order the mushroom risotto. The table next to us came prepared. We saw some awesome looking calamari and a Nutella pizza at their table. They said it was terrific. read more

I am writing this review not to complain or come down on Ciao Ragazzi. Just honest feedback. The whole reason I came to Ciao Ragazzi was because my daughter wanted to venture out for Italian food. When it comes to Italian food it may seem that I'm picky but I'm not. I read the reviews and saw that this place was rated 4.9. The issue is I feel people give out these high reviews and it can be a little misleading and deceiving. Which in turn expectations are destroyed. The restaurant is tucked away in a plaza off Dufferin. It's much more spacious than it appears to be. The interior was cute, it has a little Vespa out in display and some Italian posters and wall murals. There was a wood oven stove as soon as you entered in. This place was jam packed full of customers. With that being said it was loud. I'm not saying that's a problem, I am just letting you know that conversations with someone next to you is difficult because the acoustics in the room are over powering lol. Our waitress was such a delightful and attentive person. She was helpful and accommodating. We were seated quickly and attended to swiftly. Bonus the food was served just as quick. So extra points to the staff in the kitchen pumping out orders consistently. While we were waiting for the food to come they brought out some bread or so we thought it was. It was actually pizza dough cooked which wasn't bad but to be honest I would have rather had nice Italian bread served. It was accompanied with a red bell pepper sauce which was a nice touch and added moisture to the dry pizza dough bread. Now for the appetizers we ordered calamari fritti. The calamari came out and honestly I was shocked it was damn good. It wasn't too oily, there wasn't too much batter and the batter was nice and crispy. The calamari were actually very tender. It was better than your average calamari fritti served at most Italian restaurants in GTA. They were the star of today's event. Next came out the linguine con vongole. The menu showed it had cherry tomatoes and chilli flakes but I think the kitchen staff may have forgotten some of the ingredients that were displayed on the menu. The linguine was overcooked not al dente. For me that's a sin. The white wine sauce was decent and the vongole were good problem is the pasta didn't absorb any of the flavors. You needed to spoon the sauce in the empty clam shells to get its taste. My daughter ordered the penne alla vodka which again was overcooked. The sauce was salty and sweet. Too salty and sweet for my liking. The pancetta tasted like mushy bacon. The last thing ordered was the Calzone, which I only ordered because I thought the waitress said get the calzone instead pizza and silly me ordered the calzone because I couldn't hear her. So that was definitely my fault. I asked for extra cheese and anchovies with a little bit of sauce if anything little to none of possible. Also extra well done. The calzone came out looked decent but as I started cutting into it it just showed what a soggy mess it actually was. There was a whole ton of sauce inside which again was too sweet and acidic. The anchovies were placed in one spot In the calzone. I would rate the food lower but to be honest the calamari fritti saved them. It was enjoyable the only enjoyable dish. Would I go back? Only for the calamari fritti to go. Would I recommend this place yes only for the calamari fritti and service. Please take this review with a grain of salt as I am only speaking about my experience and with the dishes I have ordered. read more

Ordered take out and really disliked our sandwiches. Decided to dine in one day on a Wednesday. Wow! Was it packed and delicious food. Definitely would go back. They do gluten free pizzas and have 2 for 1 days. Cute atmosphere in a weird commercial plaza but pleasantly great. Staff young and helpful. Will definitely be back to dine in, not sure about take out yet. Be mindful of their hours of operation as they change depending on the day of the week. read more

New Italian restaurant in the area. Still getting some kinks out for dinner service but lunch is spot on. Love their pizza Pasta dishes are amazing Salads are always fresh and tasty I havent had a bad dish. Modern design with a great party room. Staff are very friendly and helpful Service may be a bit slow at times but should get resolved as they sort things out. read more
