Good cocktails, as well good service and food. Not a place I usually choose but found it to be above expectations and was quite busy with a line up by the time we left in the evening. Quite popular with the after work crowd.

Great find in the mall. Good selection for almost everyone. Had the pizza and steak. Pizza was very good but the steak was cooked perfectly. Service was ok. They have a shared service model where one takes your order and other staff deliver and clean. Trendy rustic look for the space. Good choice for a casual drop in. Grabbed dinner pre Mervish show was very convenient.

Right in the mall very convenient - a good place to stop after some shopping. A bit noisy but it wasn't too bad. Excellent service. I took my friend from out of town here; she loved it. We split the fries with truffle crema and calamari fritti. Both crispy and tasty. The dips they came with - mouth watering. I loved the mushroom pizza. Make sure to save room for dessert here also.

Always walk past this spot when wandering around at Eaton Center and finally decide to try it out. The vibe was amazing, with one of the best playlists my friend and I have ever been to. Everyone was nice and welcoming. To start, we ordered the fries with truffle sauce and the calamari fritti. I loved the calamari and the pepper that came with it. I then had the LINGUINE DI MARE, which needed a little mix to enjoy, or it would be a bit bland since the sauce was underneath the pasta. Good experience overall. The music was really on point!!! Would recommend it if you are looking for a place to chill and chat with friends.

I had their pizza, it was good made from their stone oven but was a but pricey for the size. The staff are all nice and friendly. The ambiance was ok , spacious but it was loud.

My favourite spot in the city for Carbonara! It's rare to find a place that that makes it that way, leaving the egg on top of the pasta for you to mix it in and create the creamy sauce yourself. The heat of the pasta cooks it once it's mixed in. If you're a fan of runny eggs it's a must have. I travel all the way down to Trattoria Mercatto at the Eaton Centre for the Carbonara alone. I've had several of the other items on the menu and have been relatively happy with them as well. The Arugula Salad is nice and crisp with a lemony vinaigrette and the Brussel Sprouts are fried with pine nuts and garlic. One dish I've had that I wasn't that fond of was the Calamari. Most of the breading crumbled and fell off before I could pick it up off the plate so it lost most of the flavour. But other than that I've enjoyed what we've ordered here. The restaurant is in a lovely corner of the Eaton Centre overlooking Holy Trinity Church and a small courtyard. In the summer you can sit on the patio and in the winter it's nice sitting by the windows inside. Price-wise the restaurant is on the higher end but there are ways of getting that value for your money if you look for them. I'd recommend going for the pizza, pasta, and appetizers which can all be shared in a group or had on your own. Personally those are my favourite menu items anyway! Overall, it's a nice Italian restaurant if you're downtown for the day and looking for a place to eat or, like me, looking for that Carbonara fix! Practical Tips: -Make reservations on OpenTable if you can. Being in the Eaton Centre the restaurant gets quite busy during peak times. -They have a bunch of nice tables upstairs with views of the courtyard but you may have to ask the host for it when you get there as they usually try to fill the downstairs first. -Getting there can be time consuming so plan ahead where you'll park or if you'll take the subway. You can park at one of the Eaton Centre parking lots or nearby or you can take the Yonge subway line and get off at Dundas or Queen.

Lovely interior design that's on par with the food that's served here. Doesn't feel like it's in a mall! The layout and decor really give off that standalone, rustic, yet classy sit-down restaurant vibe. Came here on a whim because it was the first food place that my friend and I saw upon entering the Eaton Center, so I didn't really have too many expectations. My friend and I ordered the Pesto Bread and a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza. The bread had a crunchy crust and soft interior, with parmesan cheese on top of the pesto. It was pretty good, but I think it was a little overpriced. The pizza was delectable though; it was one of the best pizzas I'd ever had. It was a little thin though, so it lost its shape/form and flopped when I tried to pick it up and eat it like a normal pizza. There was no graceful way to eat a slice. I either had to dangle it over my face to get it in my mouth or just pull out the knife and fork like a heathen. I alternated between the two because I couldn't decide which method was less embarrassing. The waitstaff was pleasant enough, nothing especially noteworthy in a good or bad way. Though I did notice that they poured us two glasses of regular tap water. I didn't think anything of it until we were leaving and overheard the same waitress ask a couple at another table if they wanted sparkling, bottled, or tap water to start off with. I mean, I still would have chosen tap, but it was a little disconcerting to not be given the same options as other customers. On a completely separate note, the bathrooms looked nice and had a great aesthetic that matched the rest of the restaurant. I think that was one of the most noteworthy things about this place, and it adds to the sit-down restaurant feel that you wouldn't expect from a mall. Give it a try. Or not. There are better places and there are worse places to eat in the area.

Stopped by Trattoria Mercato after our reservations for graduation dinner at another restaurant feel through. The hostess at the front door was incredibly accommodating and did her best to make sure we had a table to celebrate graduation. We ordered a couple of beers, a few pizzas and some pasta. Everything came out piping hot and very fresh. There was a ton of toppings on the pizzas and the pasta dish was extremely filling. We really enjoyed our time here. The food and service are exceptional. Trattoria Mercato did a great job in stepping up and making sure we enjoyed our graduation dinner. Thank you!

The food and service were both phenomenal! Really enjoyed the homemade gnocchi. Huge shout out to the chef and waiter for allowing me to alter the dish. It was by far the most delicious meal I've had! Seriously the most pillowy soft gnocchi ever! I just wish the serving size was a little larger. Despite it being inside a mall it had a great date night vibe! Would def go back!

The pepperoni pizza alone is why I'm writing this review. So perfect! Had a crunch, perfectly baked, just overall a perfect pizza. I recommend getting a side of the aioli they have and some chili flakes to make it even better. The bar was easy to get seating at if you're okay with not having a table so definitely recommend checking it out if you're at the mall or nearby

A must for when I meet my girlfriend for lunch downtown. Never disappoints. We shared a large arugula salad, along with Salumi & Formaggio with Burrata cheese. Our server Daryl was fantastic! Lovely wine list by the glass.

Gord and I had supper this evening at Trattoria Mercatto. I ordered a Diavola pizza. It was a thin crust pizza and tasty. The sopressata had a bit of a bite but wasn't too spicy. The tomatoes in the sauce had a lot of flavour. I'd get it again. Gord ordered Pappardelle. He said it was really good and the pasta was fresh. He'd get it again. We both ordered dessert. I got Caramel Coppetta and it was good and refreshing. Gord had never had Tiramisu and that's what he ordered. He liked it! Korrie was our server. She was friendly and took good care of us.

Garbage, oily. The oil they fried it in was not clean. Bad taste. Totally disgusting

I worked in the building attached and well we are at Mercatto a lot. Team lunches, corporate functions. I always loved this place. Well I guess after the pandemic the quality has gone down. First, there was no one at the front. Fine. I can wait. I was seated at the bar. Asked for the washrooms they directed me to the one near the front entrance. Someone was already inside. One of the servers came out when I went to lock the door the locks were WET. So disgusting. There were no paper towel for your hands. Considering we went through a pandemic you would think they would have basics. That's fine. I always have some in my bag. Bar tender took my order. I got the calamari and a glass of wine to start. First glass was dirty. Got me another one. Also gave me water in another dirty, stained glass. I just left it at this point I just wanted to eat something quickly and leave. Calamari came. Looked fine. Had the first piece. It tasted funny had two more and realized they were all the same. Oily, and weird taste. It's obvious the oil wasn't hot enough so it just sat in the oil absorbing oil. Not only that they oil was obviously not clean. It had a weird after taste like it was used to fry other things. It was gross asked them to take it back. I ordered dessert and coffee. I needed to get that bad taste out. The flourless chocolate cake looked good but it was dry. How old is this cake?? The food was beyond disappointing. I will never go bac

It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

Nice local Italian restaurant that is enjoyed by us locals as well as those who come down for shows…read moreat the St Lawrence ctr for the arts and the Meridian Hall as well as sports fan here for games. They have a great stock of wines and an impressive drink list that we don't get to enjoy as we can't handle drinks these days. We do enjoy the food and the friendly service immensely tho. Lots of options for shareable apps; excellent options on pizzas and pastas; and I am always impressed with their mains (as someone that has to limit carbs, options can be limited at some Italian restos). They are also understanding of reasonable diet requests. They have gluten-free options as well. It is more of a "quiet" restaurant in terms of the clientele chatter, at least for the times I was there, so I can hear the music they play ("oldies"!!!!)
