I have eaten in the restaurant once, and ordered takeout twice. Today was my third time ordering takeout. The woman who answered the phone was very abrupt. She said we couldn't add prosciutto on the pizza - no modifications. I asked why, and she said no modifications for now. Odd, because we have before, but okay. She confirmed what we wanted to order, then almost immediately said "ok bye". No name, phone number, total, or how long it'll take. My partner and I thought it was very rude, but maybe she was new, idk. We pick up the pizzas, and they seemed a bit cold; we didn't think we were too late by any means. Once home and ready to eat (and after warming it back in the oven), I noticed how horribly my pizza was cut and burnt. Overall really disappointing takeout experience. I'm giving 2 stars because I've had great experiences in the past, but was very shocked this time.

Made reservations here the night before - and even though the parking opportunities may be very limited on a Saturday night - we were able to get lucky and spike a spot a block down the street. Upon searching for traditional red sauce Italian places this was a main return on my query so I felt like it had to be done. It also ticked several boxes: red and white tablecloths, family history on the website, and standard macaroni and red gravy options . We ordered a couple of drinks to start and the burrata as a starter. I thought the burrata was perfect - loved the arugula complement and the salt and pepper seasoning. So good. Also with pizzas being a large part of the menu we ordered one to share as well. We went with the traditional margherita pizza - which came out lacking basil and almost looked over cooked if that is even possible with me. For my entree I went with the chicken parmigiana which is no secret - though I really was eyeing the carbonara. Any time I see carbonara on a menu and prepared the way I like it - I should be getting it. But I didn't. The chicken parm was good - tender chicken and properly seasoned and sauces macaroni. Staff was very nice - well taken care of but only having 3 dessert options is criminal! I need cannoli or cheesecake or something! Good place, I'd order differently next time.

I visited Little Italy in Toronto because I always visit Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. in every big city! And Trattoria did not disappoint :) I had the Rigatoni Al Pesto with an Aranciata to drink. Nice outdoor seating and friendly staff.

After our first two choices failed (one was closed for the day, the other was closed forever), we were hungry and decided to give this Italian family restaurant to try. Service was attentive and friendly despite being constantly busy. The atmosphere really makes you feel like you were in Italy somewhere, especially with the windows wide open and the sunshine streaming in. I had the homemade gnocchi in the rose sauce and my partner ordered a calzone. Both were spectacular and very well made. The calzone was the best we've had in Toronto!

Came here with my polycule for a Valentine's Day extravaganza and it was lovely. Staff is really nice food I really fresh and yummy even on the craziest days of the year. I love the ambience here the music was all over the place they were really giving just throw anything on aux it'll land. The tiramisu was god level I love that they stick a little bean in there, legend has it whoever eats the bean has to pay for dinner.

What a gorgeous spot! The interior is so authentic and inviting! The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The best part of the experience is of course the food! We got a pizza (divine), carbonara (lovely), calzone (STUNNING) and rigatoni (looked fantastic). Everything was very fresh and high quality. We also got their chianti (house recommendation) and it was very nice! Overall, I had a superb experience, and will return a thousand times more.

One of the many restaurants located in the small populated area of Little Italy. But, 'tis a place to pinpoint as a destination to eat. I ordered the Penne alla Vodka and after my first bite, I was like... "OMG, WOW!" I had no words. The pasta was perfect, al dente, and the combination of the sauce and the pasta noodles were just divine. Just come taste the gorgeous food for yourself. It will never be a miss for you. A great hit that I will definitely come back for. Also, the staff were very friendly and and I had great hospitality. My only words for them... Grazie Mille!!

I was craving pizza for supper this evening. I was walking along College Street and came across Trattoria Taverniti. It looked interesting and I'd never been there so I thought I'd check it out. When I got here around 6:30pm, it was fairly empty but filled up pretty quickly. I ordered the Carne pizza. It was a good pizza and I ended up taking some home for lunch tomorrow. The crust was crispy and I guess it was the sausage that had a bit of a bite. I paid my bill and was finishing up my wine, getting ready to go. Then one of the servers asked if I would move to the patio to a high top chair because they needed my table. I said I wasn't going to be much longer and didn't want to move to a high top (I have a wonky knee). About ten seconds later, the second server came over and asked me to move and I told her the same thing. About five minutes later, one of the servers said I really had to leave because they really needed my table. I just had a sip of wine left and again said I'd be leaving shortly (and did). I felt a bit uncomfortable because the table next to mine was looking over and wondering what was going on. So what started out being a pleasant meal got ruined. I understand that a small restaurant needs to turn the tables over to make money. But if the table was reserved and I needed to be gone by 7:30pm (so in about an hour), they should have said so when I was seated so the expectations were set ... rather than kicking me out because someone else needed the table. Definitely a customer service fail. As good as the pizza was, I didn't feel valued as a customer so won't be back.

OMG!! This is by far THE BEST Italian restaurants I have been to in Toronto. We were teleported to Italy :) My husband literally got emotional having their Arrabbiata pasta. I got pesto pasta. Both vegetarian. Both were very fresh!!! Crew is very friendly. They even had canopy setup for the guests for rainy days. I think this is going to be our place when we feel low and wanna get something yummy in our belly!! Definitely recommend this to all my friends but do reserve ahead of time. They are pretty busy, I guess we got lucky to get reservation in same week we were looking.

This restaurant has a lovely ambiance! Ordered the Penne Alla Callabrese and Tiramisu for dessert, both were flavourful and filling. Our table also ordered a couple pizzas and we had nothing but good words to say.

Love, love, love this place. Has a homely vibe and the food I'd ridiculous. Must try the N'DUJA E STRACCIATELLA. Trust me.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 4 Stars Fill Factor: Satisfied While looking for some good Italian food on College street we stumbled onto this restaurant. When we entered there were about 5 empty tables but according to the hostess they were all reserved. They did manage to squeeze us in though but many groups were turned away during our time there. So I'd you plan to come here it may be a good idea to reserve a table in advance. Once we were seated we ordered the gnocchi gorgonzola, rigatoni Bolognese, and Stracciatella soup. Let me start off by saying the gnocchi was great. The texture was great and the sauce was nice and creamy. However do note that the sauce was a little bitter so maybe the rosee sauce would be a better choice in this case. I tried a bit of the rigatoni and it was delicious. Loved the sauce. Finally we tried the Stracciatella soup which had shredded chicken and egg drop. It was our first time trying it and it was perfect for the weather that day. The service was alright here. The servers were friendly but they were really busy so there was no further interaction after they brought our food until we asked for the bill. The restaurant itself was nice and comfortable. It is not a very big space but it never felt cramped. I am glad we tried this place out. We enjoyed the food very much and I would love to come back here to try the pizzas next time.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. AVOID AT ALL COST. Ordered two pizzas for takeout. Wanted to share that it was horrible. Probably one of the worst food experiences. The pizza was burnt, dry, basically dry bread, almost no cheese or ingredients. There were 4 people eating it and we were upmost disappointed and even angry. Most pieces were hard to take a bite. Besides that, I contacted them and the owner was rude and completely unprofessional. Worst ever experience.

I came here with my best friend for a birthday dinner, and I could immediately see why this place has lasted for decades. It's tucked inside an old house on Elm Street, and the whole restaurant has that warm, family-run charm that makes you feel like people have been coming here for years and bringing more people back with them. The tables are definitely close together, so it's a little tight when the restaurant gets busy, but honestly that also adds to the lively energy because there was a steady flow of people coming in all night. Food-wise, there were a few dishes that really stood out. The carpaccio is such a good order, very thinly sliced raw beef, simple and classic, and honestly one of the most reasonably priced versions I've seen. My personal favorite was the prosciutto & melon. It's such a simple dish, but when it's done well, it really hits, and this one did. The real star for me though was the Cozze Marinara. The mussels were plump, tender, and clean, with no sandy bits, and the garlicky tomato sauce was so good that I ended up scooping it up with bread until the plate was basically spotless. We also tried the Vitello Marsala with mushrooms and Penne Arrabbiata, which felt very classic and comforting. If you like traditional Italian flavors, this is the kind of dish that will make you happy. That said, I personally wouldn't recommend mixing the meat and pasta together too much, I think they shine better on their own. Later we also ordered the garlic grilled seafood fettuccine because we were enjoying ourselves so much, and that one was much lighter in flavor. Nice enough, but probably not the best choice if you like richer or bolder pasta dishes. By the end we were completely full and had to leave a few strands of fettuccine behind, which almost never happens for me. Overall, Donatello feels like the kind of neighborhood Italian restaurant people return to for comfort, generous portions, and that warm family run atmosphere. It may not be the most spacious or modern place, but it has heart, and some dishes were genuinely memorable.

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

It's a dining experience you don't see every day in Toronto. Even the washrooms are memorable, tucked away in the basement in what used to be old jail cells, which adds to the charm and gives the whole place a bit of personality. We went for an early Sunday dinner before a concert at Massey Hall. The restaurant got pretty busy as the evening went on, but it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, a great choice for a special night out or a pre-show meal. We started with Calamari alla Griglia with mixed greens, capers, onions, and fresh tomatoes. It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu with espresso-soaked savoiardi, mascarpone, and cocoa. I had an amaro while my date finished with zambuca. A sweet and satisfying way to wrap up the meal. The service was friendly, though drinks came out a bit slower than expected. Terroni's food is tasty, the setting is gorgeous, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. It's not cheap, but the quality and ambience make it worth trying, especially for dinner before a show or a relaxed date night in one of Toronto's most unique spaces.

Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.
