A modern Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Toronto. Came here with a few colleagues for a bite before a holiday party we were having. Upon arrival you can do coat check which is always a nice touch at restaurants so that you're not crowded at your seat with your jackets, especially during winter. Here's what we got: Italian Diaspora 5/5 - Amaras Espadin Verde mezcal (subbed tequila), Aperol, passionfruit, lime, soda. This was refreshing and a great drink to hav. House Focaccia 4/5 - A great sharing item for the table. Good but nothing too special and remarkable about it. Soft bread with a crusty exterior. Served with olive oil, topped with sea salt Provolone & Pear Arancini 5/5 - I'd say this was great. It was arancini served with a drizzle of burnt honey, rosemary, and sea salt. Anything fried is always a great idea. Cappellacci Manzo 4/5 - A good dish that is hearty and meaty. Was missing some sort of umami and flavouring to it in my opinion, but was still a solid dish to have. Overall, food was good and service was great. I wasn't necessarily blown away with anything though. Still a great choice to check out in the downtown Toronto area.

Fabulous experience and stellar find thanks to Yelp. I was in town on a work trip and had the pleasure of dining with a few colleagues. After browsing Yelp for a restaurant near our office, I stumbled upon this spot and quickly mad a reservation for four. The space is dimly lit, making it slightly romantic and cozy inside. We were seated at a large comfy booth which was plenty of space for us. The service started out great and remained that way through our entire meal. We started out with cocktails and I opted for a glass of wine while the others ordered cocktails... all of which were stunning. We also started with a few appetizers. The house focaccia with olive oil and sea salt was light and fluffy and the provolone and pear arancini was delicious. Our entire table could have made a meal out of those alone. Very unique, too. For my entree I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and it was devine. The sauce was very creamy, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sage and parm dusted on top was a nice touch. I ate every single bite and could have kept going, it was so good. The others at the table all had great things to say about their dishes and we all agreed this was a wonderful restaurant. If you're looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate, go on a date, or even just want to step out on the town with friends, you can't go wrong with Amano Trattoria. Thanks for a great time!

I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of this restaurant. If you're looking for a nice out in Toronto and craving some pasta, I would suggest this :) First impressions was that it was fancy. My party of four booked reservations, which I recommend, due to the fact that by the time we were there after an hour, the place was packed and busy. Upon arriving, they took my coat and gave me a placeholder number to give back in exchange for my coat back. The service was also amazing. Water was refilled without ever having to ask and the servers made sure to check in on us every couple minutes. The food also came out quite quick. The place is kinda quite dark, so if you're looking to take pictures it might be quite difficult. I ordered the pomegranete no'hijto and the pappardelle al funghi e tartufo pasta and loved both! The drink hit the spot and the pasta was just so flavourful. Would definitely be coming back if I'm around the area.

Tried this restaurant for Valentine's day. Cute and fancy interior. There was a fixed menu, which was good. The service was very slow because of how busy and overly packed it was. Took over an hour for the food to come.

Tried their dinner summerlicous menu with a few friends. I got the Truffle Salad as the starter, chicken as the main and tiramisu for dessert. The salad was nice and refreshing but I would say the Beef Carpaccio and Arancini were a better choice. I really enjoyed my chicken, it was juicy and flavourful. My friends ordered the Grilled Sea Bass and thought it was a bit fishy. I enjoyed the tiramisu, however I thought the cream to lay finger ratio was off, resulting in the dessert tasting too creamy. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back at the $55 price point.

Wowowowowoww!!!!!! This place is amazing!!!! Idk if the people working here are making millions but everyone acts like they are!! The service is sooooooo good!!! Everyone was so friendly! Like genuinely nice people. I mean everyone from the hostess to the person that brought out our food! Even other servers that walked by were nice! Maybe that's the norm in Canada, I live in America. Back to the food, my friend picked this place, and I wasn't sure I wanted this style food but boy was I wrong! Everything was amazing! I do mean everything!!! The food was incredible idk what I was even eating but I loved it! And the dessert was otherworldly! Idk this is the place to be! I recommend this place 10000 percent! Also the vibe is really cool and chic! And the bathroom has a fantastic selfie mirror!!!!!

    Osso Bucco (veal shank)

Since the pandemic started, I have been pretty removed from the downtown food scene. So I was excited to try Amano for a intimate company dinner. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night in early December. We had a bunch of appetiziers to share including the arancini, bone marrow, truffle salad and fungi pizza. The stand out appetizer was the truffle salad, which consist of baby gem lettuce, truffle vinaigrette and pecorino. It was a simple dish but the truffle flavour really stood out. For the main, I ordered the osso bucco which is the braised veal shank served on a bed of creamy polenta, topped with shaved horseradish and gremolata (parsley based topping). The veal shank was fall of the bone, but not quite melt in the mouth. It had a slightly rough texture. The polenta was creamy and went well with the gremolata flavour. My colleague had their tomato based pasta and added their housemade burrata. She loved their burrata!

The service here was great! The server was kind and helped us out with all the details we wanted to know about our food. We ordered a series of different items - ranging from the pizza, pasta and main dish with quail - all were delicious and hit the spot. The food was all presented visually attractive and lives up to the flavours it provides. We were all hungry hippos so we ordered desserts to fill us all up. The restaurant was also beautiful designed and gave a sense of luxury when you went in, defining fancy . I recommend this place for special events or a beautiful place to celebrate at!

Dine here! Amazing service, ambiance and food. Wandered in here after not wanting to fight traffic at rush hour. Sat at the bar, the seats are extremely comfortable, and all the staff is so warm & attentive. We had a sampler appetizer that was recommended as a special. Everything on that board was divine! Had a delicious pasta, salad and breaded pork chop! All the dishes were flavorful, hearty and so well done. I'm craving the menu now! Definitely check this wonderful italian restaurant out. Gorgeous Sophia Loren mural on the back wall.

I don't get what the hype is. Tried a variety of dishes and they were all mediocre and expensive. Steak and pasta were cold. Flavors were bland. Waiter was super nice but that was the only good part of this experience. I wouldn't recommend or go back.

    Bolognese
    Nicole B.

Absolutely fantastic. Everything was done so well. We had the bolognese, short ribs and agnolotti and a side of the gnocchi and all were so so good. The agnolotti was very different, something you won't get other places, sweet and savory at the same time. Drinks were great, service was great, we'd definitely come back!

    Tiramisu
    Tianle C.

Tiramisu is a bit crunchy and pretty good. Not super sure why it's crunchy though, maybe ice crystals from being too cold? Pasta was pretty good, comparable bolognese among Italian restaurants with a similar price points. Service is regular speed. Pretty elaborate decor.

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

It's a dining experience you don't see every day in Toronto. Even the washrooms are memorable, tucked away in the basement in what used to be old jail cells, which adds to the charm and gives the whole place a bit of personality. We went for an early Sunday dinner before a concert at Massey Hall. The restaurant got pretty busy as the evening went on, but it never felt chaotic. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, a great choice for a special night out or a pre-show meal. We started with Calamari alla Griglia with mixed greens, capers, onions, and fresh tomatoes. It was a fresh, bright appetizer with good balance. For mains, my date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare with clams, mussels, calamari, scallop, and tiger shrimp in a tomato sauce. The menu described it as mildly spicy, but it definitely had a noticeable kick. Still, the flavours were really good. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato with braised beef, butter, sage, and parmigiano. It was tasty and comforting, though portion-wise I could have used a few more ravioli. I was still a bit hungry after and honestly double the size would have been perfect for me. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu with espresso-soaked savoiardi, mascarpone, and cocoa. I had an amaro while my date finished with zambuca. A sweet and satisfying way to wrap up the meal. The service was friendly, though drinks came out a bit slower than expected. Terroni's food is tasty, the setting is gorgeous, and it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. It's not cheap, but the quality and ambience make it worth trying, especially for dinner before a show or a relaxed date night in one of Toronto's most unique spaces.

There were four flights of stairs to get up to the first floor with the bar and main dining area. There was another two flights of stairs to get to the upper bar (which I was too tired to walk up to). The drinks at the bar were good and the staff were all great. We started with passed apps. Some of the flavour combinations were just off (the skewer with fruit, cheese and something else) - like they paired the wrong cheese with the fruit. The meal itself was a seat down meal (family style) which did take over two hours to complete for the amount of guests that were present (over 200 ppl). My favorite dish was the tomato and mozza salad. My most disappointed dish was the ragu pasta. Though containing a good amount of meat it was not saucy at all. The pizza was the brocolini was good as well. The reason I gave this restaurant three stars is strictly for the lack of elevator and the food quality vs the price. For what you are paying, there is so much higher quality food in the city and I honestly think you can get better bang for buck elsewhere.

Our server was great at helping us pick our wine, he mentioned that their wines are all on the dry side which is perfect for me, I'm not one for sweet wines. We also had two of their small plates the mussels and the burrata. The mussels tasted great with the sauce, a little garlicky which I prefer. The combination of the peach and mint went really well with the burrata. Light and easy to eat. The patio at night is one of the highlights. The only small complaint was it did take a while to get our wine after we ordered it and a little while to get our check. Otherwise cute spot.
