    Crispy Bakes Fries.
    David N.

I'm always down to check out a cool speakeasy-type bar, so when I read about Bar 404, I didn't waste any time stopping by. And while the entrance is indeed very cool, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when we got into the bar itself. The vibe was cool enough, but the lighting was way too harsh and aggressive. I was hoping for a more mysterious and dark kind of atmosphere, and this is definitely not that. Having said that, we enjoyed ourselves anyway. We decided to share the Crispy Bakes Fries ("Olive Oil, Crispy Fries, Salt and Pepper"), and they were quite tasty. True to their name, they are indeed very crispy. They're very well seasoned and the ketchup suits them perfectly. It was a terrific little snack. The drinks were more of a mixed bag. I started with a Manhattan, which was quite good, and then moved onto a Margarita, which was very disappointing. I think Bar 404 has the potential to be a really cool spot in the vein of Prequel & Co., but it's not quite there yet.

This speakeasy is . I was on a roll going here 2 nights in a row and was hoping to make it three on Friday (live DJ) night. The host was fantastic with great energy and service, she was awesome! Didn't make it after being at Rogers Stadium for the SF Giants/Blue. The staff was awesome and the Mixologist did his thing every time. I was very impressed with all the different drinks I tried. not one bad thing to say about any on of them. The vibe here will keep you coming back and staying until close. If you are ever in the Toronto area, hit this place up.

Found this bad a$$ speakeasy..... If you are in Toronto you need to visit this place it will blow your mind. From the hidden bar, to the mixologist, to the live DJ. Feel like a Vegas night club.... They got this Truffle mushroom flatbread to die for. Mixologist are very friendly and knowledgeable, highly recommend this spot....

Visited Bar404, a speakeasy I found on TikTok. While the speakeasy vibe wasn't as impressive as hoped--it could have committed more to the act--the interior is truly stunning, easily one of the best in Toronto. The place has a great ambiance, with areas that are dimly lit to enhance the speakeasy feel, and a lighter area near the bar that's more vibrant. I recommend sitting at the bar for a better experience. The menu is cleverly divided into "Midnight Serenade" for more spirit-forward drinks and "Tranquil Breeze" for lighter options, which was a thoughtful detail that enhanced the customer experience. We tried the Peanut Booze and Jelly and the Strawberry Shortcake cocktails. Both were among the best cocktails we've tasted--perfectly sweet yet still potent, and the presentation was impressive. The bartenders were super attentive, ensuring we were always taken care of. The only downside is the price; drinks are expensive, at $21 and $25, which is typical for most of their menu. Despite the cost, given the service, ambiance, and quality of the cocktails, I think it's worth the money for a special occasion, though it's not a spot I'd frequent every weekend.

Had a fantastic speakeasy experience at Bar404. Would definitely recommend and come back. Friendly servers, custom made drinks if you request for bartenders choice, and I was pleasantly surprised! Just tell the server what your flavour profiles are and the bartender is sure to match it. I got cocktails that were whisky dominant, and was surprised with a peanut butter-like cocktail, and the second cocktail, a matcha based cocktail. Loved it. Presentation was cute, clean. Love love love the atmosphere. Cozy, and plenty of space for small groups. I encourage you to try this spot! They have plenty of cocktails on their menu, food to share. Cocktails are approx in the $20~ range. Excellent service! Come check this place out!!

Was in area and googled/yelped for a bar to go to. Came here without much expectations/not knowing anything about it. As we approached the building I noticed that it was strange it was in this building. There was a host at the entrance and wondered what this place was, if I was underdressed/if there was a dresscode as i had been biking. He said we should be fine and this place is not bad in terms of strict dress code and he just needed to check our bags. He was a very kind friendly non-pretentious security. We went in and walked up the stairs and were surprised to see a dead end room that looked like a small boutique- but the hostess there assured us we were at the right place. I asked her if i were too underdressed and she said it's fine they accept all. She opened the wall and walks us in and we find ourselves in this cool lounge bar place with classy tables throughout and this cool pretty luxurious bar island at the back where she sat us down and told us that there was only one rule here, that the way we enter is never the same way we leave- i suppose both literally and figuratively? And showed us the exit would be out the other side. The menu of cocktails sounded all very exquisite - and of course the price reflects it - but their bar seemed all top notch expensive liquors. I got the Cold Brew and my bf got the Winged Mojito- and both were so good- my drink was soo good. The bartender was really friendly, non pretentious. He made us some free melon shooters. Im sure all the other cocktails wouldve been good - im sure to come back for the delicious drinks and cool lounge atmosphere and non-pretentious staff for a chic trendy place. The bill is expensive for drinks but really exquisite drinks and nice lounge bar , so to me it was still worth it

    Purple potion Tasted awful
    Sophie C.

This was super disappointing. My boyfriend and I came here for a drink before our valentines dinner. Our server recommended the Purple Potion cocktail, and it was awful. They kindly swapped our cocktails for a vodka soda..... the two vodka sodas costed us $94. They also made them with flat water not soda... Almost 100$ for a cup of watered down vodka. I'm still so upset that it was such an awful experience it was supposed to be such a special night. I'm still in shock that we had to pay THAT MUCH for two drinks. Sorry but never coming back here again.

BAR 404 . . newest speakeasy in downtown toronto ~ The entrance of the bar looks like you just entered a spa or skincare store, ready to get a facial done. Little do you know though... there's an entire bar hidden behind the shelf. It was very cool seeing the shelf open to reveal a dark vibey bar. . . The bar is very spacious with dark, lounge vibes. It's the perfect setting to grab some drinks with a few friends. The seats at the bar are in a circle shape which I found very unique. There's also a few larger seating areas for bigger groups, but I found that to be a waste of space since i don't think Bar404 is a space for groups that size. Keep in mind there's a separate exit for when you leave since it is a speakeasy. . . Strawberry Shortcake Cocktail 5/5 This is one of my favourite cocktails of all time (i know, huge chain!). It has the perfect balance of alcohol, fruitiness and sweetness. I felt like I was drinking a dessert drink with alcohol...yum! The strawberry flavour stood out and the cream mixed into the drink just made it that much more tastier. It was a very very delightful drink. Honestly would go back everyday just for this. . . Gin and tonic 3/5 Too much gin for our liking. The ratio of gin and tonic seemed off because we've never had a gin and tonic that strong before. . . Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience. Definitely try one of their cocktails if you're in the area. The hickory sticks they give you are also highly addictive and pairs so well with the drinks. Be prepared to ask for seconds, thirds and maybe even fourths.

Tequila spirit, sip in theatre, truffle flatbread
    Gini C.

The service was great, servers were super polite. They check on us often and refill the water quick. The ambiance was also great. The drinks are quite strong. I don't really taste the popcorn for sip in theatre (taste a lot of the rye and tequila spirit is more orangey fruity). I'm also a weak drinker so 3.5/5 for the drinks. The flatbread we got was great, hot and cheesy, crispy on the edge and soft centre 5/5.

I recently visited bar404 and it was a great experience. This speakeasy bar was designed to enter a little boutique into a beautifully designed bar. The ambiance was classy and the drinks were unique with Asian inspired flavours. The waitress were all helpful and provided detailed recommendations on what's popular and what would fit our palette! Would recommend to try this place out .

Cool bar, but damn does this bar think its a club or something? Blasts music at absolute max volume. Also drinks were pretty mid. Cool concept though. Asked about the volume with the server and why it was outrageously loud and was told thats just how they roll hence the 1 star review. I think cocktail bars should be a place where people can have cordial conversations, not club style music.

Tables line the perimeter and upper level, while small trees with twinkling lights frame the booths, adding a whimsical, almost magical touch. A window displaying the cuts of steak was a fun and enticing detail. Appetizers & Mains: Every bite impressed. The seafood atop each piece of nigiri was incredibly fresh and buttery, literally melting in your mouth. The lobster mashed potatoes were an indulgent and unforgettable accompaniment to the perfectly tender steaks, which were thoughtfully presented tableside before cooking. Dessert: We saved room (and I'm so glad we did!) My cheesecake arrived beautifully plated with a candle and birthday message, while my boyfriend enjoyed the butter cake. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to the meal. Service: Every team member we encountered went above and beyond to make the evening feel special, but a heartfelt shout-out goes to our charming server, Vig. He was attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in ensuring each moment felt intentional and unique. He also shared enticing reasons to return for lunch, happy hour, and weekend brunch (options we had no idea the restaurant offered).
