The table features dim sum, fried rolls, noodles, and other Chinese dishes, with several plates and bamboo steamers.

We came here for dim sum and it was very busy but we only had to wait for 5mins. Nice interior but it was very tight because the overall space is small. Food itself is amazing with large portions and great flavours. The pork dumplings were massive, the deep fried squid was moist, and the desserts were fabulous. We ordered so much food so had tons of leftovers. Overall great dim sum experience and amazing value for the cost. - SS Dim sum is my favourite, so I'm very picky with it, but Fortune villa was amazing. The si mai was perfect and very flavorful, but I was a little sad because my favourite dish, bbq pork bao, was too sweet. The mango pudding was delicious but texture wise it was a bit too firm. On the other hand, the dan tat was amazing. The egg was just right and the crust was super light and flaky. Overall, this was some good dim sum. - Madz

Nice Chinese restaurant with good dishes. They have awesome lunch and weeknight specials. Check the menu out! We tried their Peking duck, satay beef with vermicelli, and sweet-&-sour pork. Not bad at all. Good portion too. Dinner came with complimentary desserts as well. Most of the servers were okay. There was only one short waitress quite annoying and talked rudely. Aside from that, it's an okay restaurant with good food after all. Still recommended.

What a hidden gem (for me at least)! I didn't know there was a dim sum restaurant in this area and was so surprised by the quality and taste of the food here. It's a smaller restaurant with tentative servers. I went around mooncake festival time so all the servers were trying really hard to sell us boxes of mooncakes. The restaurant is also filled with lots of regulars probably from the surrounding homes. The food was great and so tasty! Some of the things we got here: Bitter melon chicken noodle 4/5 - Nice and saucey with great taste Liver congee 4/5 - I don't usually eat liver but the congee was great and had the perfect consistency. The congee came with a lot of liver pieces, and I mean, A LOT. Chicken feet 5/5 - A classic that is always so good. Delicious red sauce. Har Gow 5/5 - Nice and plump. Shrimp were bouncy and tasty. Coconut bunny dessert 5/5 - This was super cute and came with four coconut jellies shaped in a bunny. It was super jiggly and so fun to eat! What a great find with this restaurant. I'll definitely be back!

I haven't been here for their dim sum or dinner but I've been getting their bbq pork rice a couple of time for take out. The bbq pork tastes better than the other restaurants in the area and the price is decent $8.25+taxes. They only take debit/credit if it's over $20 otherwise there's a service charge so it's better if you pay with cash. The restaurant is pretty big, nice decor perhaps I'll be back to try out their dim sum

I liked this place :) and would definitely recommend others to try at least once for special occasions or more regularly if you have the extra money to splurge . It is a tad pricier than regular Chinese restaurants . I would return for following reasons : the atmosphere was good ; very clean and modern looking ; servers were super friendly and attentive . Food wise might be a hit miss depending on day from what I read. We were lucky in the sense that overall food was pretty good. Some of the dishes didn't have as much taste as I'm used to but still the cleanliness of the place made it that much better for me. Plus it did taste relatively healthier since it was low sugar / salt and oil haha . * For reference , I already typically eat more bland than most people so if it lacks sugar / salt , the dishes really don't have much taste. I didn't mind it too much because it did feel relatively ' cleaner' and 'healthier' due to low sugar/salt content The best : Peking duck and wraps - super crispy skin and I loved how lean the meat was The lobster lo mein - had such enough taste for me and was huge The individual herbal soup - was super sweet and comforting The variety of the complimentary desserts - mango jelly; papaya sago; almond cookies . For me , the mango jelly was the best Presentation of food was stunning The good/ so -so: Shrimp wrapped in lotus leave fried rice- I've tried this in many places and thought it was a tad dry and taste less here . Couldn't really taste butter and garlic . Others from my family loved it so I guess it depends on what you like . This was an extra to combo for $32. It's more expensive than other places I've tried it from Fried grouper, mixed meat/ tofu/ veggie platter- the presentation was fab but not really my cup of tea. I prefer steam fish and the sauce wasn't my fav Beef cubes and veggies - it was rarer than I would like but it's personal preference and others did like this in my family Snow pea sprout - this was an upgrade from bok choy miu and was +$8. Wasn't enough wok hay for us Almond cookie and papaya sago lacked sugar Total for combo 5 dishes was $200. We upgraded for snow pea sprout and added extra rice as shared above . The total bill was over $300 with a mandatory 12%.

We ordered take out from this place last night, our first time trying it since opening. It tastes pretty good (at least much better than the previous owner) and it comes with quite generous portion on a pricey end, so overall I think it's still worth it! We had the 2 pick-your-own dishes (with 2 fixed dishes) set meal for $67, our family of 4 only able to eat 1/2 of the portion, can leave some for next day's lunch. Because of their grand opening, they have some daily specials. The bbq pork and duck looks fresh, people are lining up for that. Their chili oil hot sauce is really really good, I believe that's home made, wonder if they have it for sale. Will definitely come back next time to try other things and it's very close by my house.

For a restaurant that is aiming to be a high end Chinese restaurant, the taste is pretty meh and is the same quality as that of lower end places, like Fancy Chinese Restaurant. However, their shrimp was bad in the fried shrimp wontons. My mom had 1, and realized it was bad. She figured it's just the one, but turns out the second one was bad too. We sent it back and requested it be cancelled. When we said that, the manager (60s man, balding) didn't even RESPOND to us. We thought he didn't hear us, so we said it again louder, then he acknowledged us. As a service staff, WHY doesn't he verbally respond? He wasn't handling dishes or talking with anyone else. The salted fried capelin fish... Oy. The batter was definitely fried but why was it soft and not crunchy? We were actually able to pinch the batter and it stayed that shape instead of breaking off. The siumai was bland and boring. No shrimp taste and no mushroom taste. It felt like a regular pork meatball. Their shrimp dumplings were disappointing. The wrap was so thick and opaque. At least it didn't stick to my teeth. I have had way better quality for much lower prices, even in Markham. Their congee was the only good dish. Lots of toppings, taste was fine, not too salty. Viscosity was okay... But I like thicker congees. A manager lady also got our order wrong. She inputted it wrong and we had to hunt down the balding manager to get it fixed. We came for early bird dimsum, in which the price for SML sizes were all $5.30, which is typically the price of a medium dish elsewhere. Their taste didn't even match the price point. I would not come back again. Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 from the dish serving ladies, 2/5 from management Ambience: 4/5

Solid 3.5 stars! Came here for dinner on Friday. They currently have a Monday-Friday special - $30 for peking duck if you spend $20 or more there. We ordered: Peking duck - surprisingly good. The steamed wrappers were nice and super thin. Duck skin was nice and crispy. Duck was a bit on the fattier side but the meat was nice and tender, not dry at all. Can't beat the $30 price tag. Grouper with veggie dish - simple, cooked nicely as well. A tad oily so would ask for less oil next time on their dishes. Veggie dish - huge veggie dish for only $20. Came with a nice dessert soup at the end (white fungus and papaya) with a lychee chrysanthemum jello and an almond cashew cookie. We had so much leftovers! Note: tip was included on the bill already even for a table of 2. No biggie though. Also, have seen reviews about their poor service, however, we experienced none of that. If anything, their service was much better than other Chinese restaurants. Super attentive and friendly and the place was packed. Very reasonable prices here. Would definitely come back.

This review is based on 2 dinner experience. We first patronized on Father's Day for dinner. We were so impressed by the taste, portion and overall services that we returned for a regular dinner. What sticked in mind the most was the overall good value. Let's face it, dining out is expensive nowadays. It costs average of $15 per entree for even HK cafes. It costs a lot more at a nicer place. Fortune is no exception in term of pricing. But all the entrees we had over 2 dinners tasted delicious, nicely plated and generously portioned, to the tune that we consistently had 2 boxes of leftover to take home. Further, the cooking, favouring and plating of the food have a level of refinement that justify the higher price per entree. Services could be slow but not too bad. In all, Fortune Villa is now our go-to for Cantonese style upscale casual dining.

One word summary for dinner dine-in: RUSH! Service is half the experience and I felt being rushed from the moment I sit down to getting my butt out the door. Terrible. Food is actually decent, but given the inflated price compared to nearby competitors, that should be expected. The member card is a scam. $10 for the card + $20 for the "voucher" that you can't use until you return for dinner next time. And it comes with a month and a half expiry date! Totally a scam! 12% tips included and there waitress in private suggest to give her extra separately because apparently those mandatory 'tips' are not tips! Summary: if you feel like getting robbed while being rushed out the door, thereby cannot enjoy the food, then feel free to go there.

We came here for dinner on Father's Day and were seated quickly. We ordered one of the Father's Day combos for six and added a sweet and sour pork and seafood fried rice. I was surprised that rice and noodles wasn't included in the combo but overall there was shark fin soup, abalone and mushrooms, chicken, small order of suckling pig, sea bass, lobster and dessert. Total including tips was about $450 for six adults and 2 kids. They made things in mass so within 5 mins of ordering the dishes were already coming out and they all came at the same time. It did feel a bit rushed but with kids faster service is more ideal than slow service.

I've came for both dim sum and dinner service and enjoyed the overall experience. Overall food was on point, nothing stood out, but not a bad thing either. Service was excellent, servers were polite and attentive. Prices of this restaurant are on the high end. General vibe of this Chinese restaurant is fancier and you can see they want to position itself as a mid-range luxury Chinese restaurant. This is reflected in its pricing, decor and service, however lacking in the food department to match other restaurants of that caliber. It's also not an appropriate strategy for this location in a neighborhood plaza - most coming here would be looking for a casual meal close to home rather than a splurge, unlike the other Chinese restaurant offerings from this chain in Scarborough. On the few occasions I've been, the restaurant remained mostly empty. Hopefully they can come up with a more effective approach to capture the clientele, or else they might not last long, like the predecessor in the location.

I found an INSECT in the Daisy tea and they said "if you don't like it, I can get a new pot for you."

I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. It's simply deceiving customers.

New Century will feed a large group. Their lobster, Dungeness crab, and sea bass combo for eight…read more($798) would satisfy ten or twelve. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

New sauerkraut fish soup spot in Markham…read more A chain from asia that has finally made it's way to Markham. They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
