If you're looking for authentic canto dishes for reasonable prices, this is definitely one of them. Situated in the southeast corner of Steeles and Brimley Ave, parking can be a pain. The plaza is tiny, limited parking spots and tight to manoeuvre around. This place gets busy. If you don't make reservations, you can leave your number and they'll call you when the table is ready. We came here on a Sunday at 5:30pm (thinking we're pretty early to beat the crowd) but we were wrong. We waited 20 minutes for a table. They have complimentary peanuts, soup and Chinese desserts at the end of your meal. Overall a good place for a family dinner or lunch. Not a big restaurant - roughly 13 tables. Great service, waitresses are all friendly and attentive.

Great food, but overpriced. The same pig stomach wrapped chicken soup sells for $38 here but $20 elsewhere. Everything in the pictures were good. The eel was ~$100+. The pumpkin sago dessert soup was unique for me, I haven't seen it anywhere else. Definitely recommend this place but prepare to spend.

**** 4 out of 5 stars **** It was my birthday, and since we cannot go dine-in, the next best thing is to order takeout through Ubereats! I order a double fried Lobster with Maggi sauce, black pepper beef short ribs, shredded chicken, and fish with Chinese vegetables. All the dishes were very well made, the flavours were very authentic. My order should have came with Chinese desserts, but they forgot to put it in. I was looking forward to the dessert, as many reviewers said that they make it well. Unfortunately, they lost 1 star.

Foodcourt-level Chinese food at best. The lunch menus is pretty small and IMO it's a bit weirdly coordinated. You have your set seafood meals. But if you're ordering a la carte there's like TWO choices each of noodles, fried rice, and congee. They're mostly serving stir-fry dishes here. All of the dishes were all mediocre. Nothing stands out but nothing made me gag either. Size of the dishes is def A+ tho. Portions are wayyy more than enough! Return again? NOPE LOL. Not even big ass portions of food gon make me come back.

Very nicely-decorated and comfortable space serving a variety of different Cantonese dishes! Portion sizes were decent for the price and the food was good! However, the waitress was super patronizing though; kept passive-aggressively rushing us even though there was no one waiting for a table and brought the dessert before we even finished the main meal. Oh and when we paid the bill she was counting the money in front of us like we scammed her. Normally I don't care to mention service but this was a sour point to what was otherwise a good meal.

This is one of those "neighbourhood" restaurants for me. It can get quite crowded for dinner and they pretty much expect you to order, eat, pay and leave. It's not a restaurant where you can sit, eat slowly, and socialize with your friends and family. They will rush you because the line can go out the door since there isn't much waiting room in the front. I went on a Thursday night and had to wait for a table, and noticed that there was a constant line up. It's located in a small plaza with a convenience store, a Domino's and some other small shops as well. Basically, it's a plaza that I would never normally go to. With Lucky Pot, I've now been to this plaza twice (even though I've lived in this area for years) and I think I've tried enough dishes to be able to leave a fair review. They have pretty good set menus for lunch and dinner where you choose a couple of applicable items for a set price. I prefer the lunch over dinner. With the dinner, I found everything to be overly salty. By everything, I mean every single dish we ordered was too salty for me. The one thing that I did enjoy for dinner was the dessert at the end of the night. It's a Purple Rice with Sago and Taro. Very flavourful and not too sweet. If only I could've just had unlimited desserts for dinner! (2019/1)

I don't know about you, but I LOVE THIS PLACE. The restaurant is located in a corner plaza in the SW of Steeles Ave. and Brimley Rd. Plaza is ghetto af, but the food here is actually worthwhile. I have been to Lucky Pot a couple of times, and I will continue to frequent this restaurant whenever I am in the area :) I really hope Lucky Pot stays because over the 20 years of living in that neighbourhood, I have seen this spot change hands numerous of times, and never have I set foot in any of them (looked too sketched lol). Random night, my friend and I have decided to give them a try, thinking it might be hot pot, but it turns out to be a Chinese restaurant. It is similar to Congee Queen but, like Allison Y. has mentioned, there is no congee, but more homey dishes like steamed fish, clay pot dishes, and family styled dinner combos. I enjoy the a la carte options more than their dinner combos. Complimentary soup and soupy dessert are included during dinner... combo or not. My favourite dish at Lucky Pot would definitely be the steamed egg dish made with 3 types of eggs, topped with soy sauce and green onions! SO GOOD. The steamed egg comes out hot and is silky smooth; best paired with a bowl of white rice! But we opt for a Dried scallop & egg white fried rice, which was very light and pairs well with any dishes. The eggplant with minced meat was a nice dish too; it has a tiny bit of a kick! The soupy desserts MUST get a shoutout too! It is different each time I went, and it is absolutely satisfying. I seriously need to ladle some home lol. I had the Purple rice with taro and sago, and the second time, I had a Pumpkin based one... so creamy good. This new spot can get real busy. Reservations is highly recommended. They have booths and large round tables to accommodate larger parties. I hope Lucky Pot continues to do well, keep up the great work! #supportlocalbusiness

If you can come on a weekday for early or late dinner, I would highly recommend Lucky Pot. But any other times, you might find the experience frustrating and not worth the hassle. First, parking here is a nightmare. The lot is small to start with and sharing with numerous business in the plaza. And make sure you park your car back in, it will save you a lot of agony when it is time to leave. Since the restaurant is relatively new, it is quite popular. I personally don't want to wait more than 30 minutes for a table. I was lucky to be here on a Monday evening around 9 pm and there was no wait. Kitchen did get overwhelmed by dinner rush. I didn't get to enjoy the dessert of the day because kitchen got too busy and burnt their dessert while prepping. The wait staff did tell me that they have some burnt dessert if I am willing to try. (Turtle Shell Herbal Jello that tasted smokey) We ordered a few dish to try and the fresh from the wok flavour was good. Service was friendly and cheerful. Will be back on a quiet evening to give Lucky Pot another try.

I visited Lucky Pot to get take out during the pandemic. Service was fast. I called ahead of time and the server told me the order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived a little bit earlier than that and my order was nicely packaged sitting at the front. I had ordered the spicy eggplant with minced pork, sweet and sour pork, and garlic stirfried snowpeas. Food tasted delicious! In particular, the sweet and sour pork was fantastic and crunchy! They also gave complimentary grass jelly dessert as part of the meal.

A good local canto set menu restaurant. What made this place stand out wasn't just the above average food, but the service. We didn't want to ball out on a full family dinner set, we settled with ordering the 5 spice duck, sweet and sour pork, and the eggplant casserole/ pot. The sweet and sour pork was better than average and was really crispy despite being drenched in sweet and sour sauce. It was good and crunchy but wasn't anything extraordinary. The portioning for it was kind of small though. The five spice duck was tender and had really large portions, but the flavor wasn't anything out of the norm. What was saddening was that the skin of the duck wasn't crispy at all so other than the cartilage pieces of meat, the dish was lacking in texture. My favorite dish was the eggplant casserole with ground pork. The eggplant was extremely flavourful and when mixed with rice is so delicious that its the type of food that you can never stop eating. The slices of onion added a bit of crunch and contrast to the mushiness of the eggplant. Definitely a must try.

Lucky Pot is still one of my faves for family dinners. The today's special/promotion dishes are nicer food *and* pricier than the items on regular menu. Don't get me wrong, the today's specials are often competitively priced when compared to other restaurants. It is just that they are more expensive than the items on regular menu. When the servers suggested the daily promotions to us the last few times we patronized, they didn't volunteered the prices, and I got sticker shocks at the end. Since then, I make sure to ask for the prices before ordering. I would suggest you to do the same. Pricing on regular menu remains the same. Services level remains similar as before: friendly, effective, smiley.

Lucky Pot Restaurant is the latest restaurant to take over the space at the corner of Brimley and Steeles. Over the years there has been a merry go round of restaurants that have occupied this space but I really hope they will buck the trend and have more long term success. Serving some really solid Cantonese cuisine we had a family luncheon here and the food was excellent. We ordered a variety of items including part a set menu and additional items and everything came hot, quick and delicious. Portions were generous and prices very reasonable. The place was packed and apparently like this during lunch and dinner rushes as it's becoming a really popular neighbourhood joint for locals. Some of the highlights for us was the House Special Tasty Duck which was a marinated duck in a special sauce, sweet and sour pork with blueberries, Ja Ja chicken in a claypot and the lobster tamale fried rice which was outstanding! We really enjoyed our lunch today and can easily see this as our go to place in the future. Solid 4 out of 5 for some solid local Chinese food! .

We tried several of their noodle soups, and each one had its own charm. The house special noodles came loaded with toppings like beef tendon, brisket, wontons, offal, and squid balls, so every bite felt hearty and satisfying. The broth was especially comforting with the noodles. The wonton noodles were a little lighter, but still very good. The shrimp wontons were huge, with a nice crisp bite to the shrimp, and the whole bowl felt especially soothing after a late night. The offal noodles were also impressive, with a very generous portion of offal and a fragrant touch of garlic oil that brought everything together. The four-ball noodle soup is a great choice if you are not sure what to order, since you get to try fish balls, squid balls, beef tendon balls, and sliced fish all in one bowl. My favorite dish of the night was definitely the fried dumplings. They were crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and soaked up that savory house sauce so well. Easily some of the best fried dumplings I've had. We also tried the chives and pork blood, which is a must-order for anyone who enjoys pork blood dishes. There was no unpleasant smell at all, and the seasoning with chives was just right. To drink, the iced lemon tea and lemonade were simple but refreshing, and paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, this is a place I would gladly come back to when I want something filling, flavorful, and affordable.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
