Each time I tell myself, the last time was an anomaly. Each time I leave disappointed. Today was no different. The quality of their food has deteriorated significantly. From the ingredients they had from before to now, it's a massive cutting or corners at the expense of saving a few bucks. The flavour of the soup noodles is by far the lowest point of all time times I've visited. Sad to say, the best they have going for them is the decor. Sad to say, I go for the food and not the decor. Quick example, the gravy soup noodles at one point had sea cucumber, mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Today, the bare minimum, until more is removed. I fear I won't be a return customer after many years of attendance since the dad started the restaurant at 416 Dundas St. W. and now with the kids running it as a franchise, quality has gone to bucks into the kid's pockets and not to the belly of patrons. Just see my food photos from 7 years ago. Pictures don't lie. Too bad I can't share how the food was when they only had the one location and a food court set up decades ago. To bad, so sad. It was a good relationship until now. Sorry that we must part ways.

    * I am a XLB enthusiast, so I ordered XLB (crabmeat & pork) to go only. So my review is quite limited. At the end of my busy day, I craved my super comfort food, XLB. Asian Legend has several locations throughout GTA, and food tastes quite different by location. This location is not the best but I came here because it was the closest place that had XLB to where I was. This time as well, the wrappers were fragile, thicker than in the other locations. Transfer to the container was not carefully done, so the soup was leaking as a result. Almost no crab flavor, so I had to open them to search for crabmeat pieces. Also, they use too much white pepper in the soup and meat, which overpowers other flavors. Overall, the taste was a little too salty. :(

Deep fried bean curd. $7. Not much taste. 6/10

Good service, clean washroom but food not so good. Radish pancake too greasy and not much taste. Sesame biscuit soso. Beef noodles a big disappointment, not much taste at all. Soup tastes like salt water, definitely not from beefstock! Deep fried bean curd also not much taste. Would i go back? No!

Perfect spot for family style sharing & tasty nostalgic authentic Chinese food! As a kid I mostly frequented their OG location on Finch & Leslie but this new-ish location at Don Mills is gorgeous and now my new fav! It has such a high end interior. The ceilings are so tall and decor is artsy and pretty. My fam have already brought a few of our visiting Toronto guests here because it's a place to show-off lol & our guests were def impressed! Food wise I can't complain. Everything just hits the spot! Some of my go to must orders are their fried tofu appetizer, xiao long baos, glutinous rice rolls, cantonese crispy noodles & stir fried eggplant! When I'm feeling fancy their smoked duck & peking duck are a must order! Their prices are super reasonable too. I always get massive portions & everything is made to order! Living in Boston all these years away from authentic Chinese food really made me crave Asian Legend & so now that I'm back in Toronto I've been frequenting them like crazy. I've never had a bad experience yet & I do have to say Don Mills has some of the nicest & competent staff! They're always on point with the best customer service & take care of our table with professionalism (its esp nice to have when taking visiting friends and guests here)! I also like that most of the staff can speak Canto, Mandarin & English! Overall an excellent place to bring guests for a impressive dine-in experience. It's also perf to visit if you're craving those nostalgic Chinese dishes you grew up eating- they really make everything well & prob have anything you're craving! Their menu is extensive!!

We were in the Don Mills area and really hungry. Across from the C&C supermarket, we saw this Asian legend. I have never tried any of the Asian legends in the city before so decided to go for it. We asked for hot water and got tea. We ordered the spinach xiaolongbao, which came as the normal white one. When I asked about it, they said they didn't have the other. I would have preferred they let me know before deciding for me to do the switch. The pan fried dumpling was decent - crispy on the outside. Would have liked the inside to have more flavour. The pork belly was surprisingly bland. Overall not a great experience and probably won't be back.

A friend gave my sweetie two gift cards so we dropped into this Asian Legend location for the first time while in the area shopping. We decided to go with takeout and dine-in another time. Staff directed us to the bar area to review the menu. Our order was a Ma Po Tofu, Braised Pork & Preserved Vegetables, plus a Cantonese Chow Mein. First, the meal was good but the noticeable thing with the chow mein was the sauce being too runny; it should have be thickened with more corn starch. Second, my wife is sensitive to MSG and her senses were indicating too much MSG after consuming our meal. We will still give this place another visit in the future.

Another Chinese restaurant to explore. Not your typical setting from Chinatown; this restaurant is pretty and elegant. We got there at the peak of dinner time. Had to line up. Quoted wait time was 20 minutes or so but we got seated soon after. I think there were only 2 to 3 waitresses working. One was literally jogging from table to table. We ordered our food. Normally soup would come first but other dishes came first. The soup was served in the middle of the meal. We didn't have bowls so we had to ask for it. We had to scoop the soup ourselves. At the end when we were leaving, I noticed another table got their soup first, and the waitress also scooped the soup into bowls for them. Still on the topic of soup, we ordered fish maw soup. We found lots of slivers of ginger in it. The rest of the dishes were ok. Was it legendary? Was it a good, memorable experience? Nah.

Jan 2020: Ok fine. I'm back here again for dinner. You just can't avoid it since there aren't many Chinese restaurants when passing through this area. Came here for dinner on a weeknight over the holidays. The restaurant was already semi full at around 5:30 pm. It does get full really quickly here. We had the Peking duck two course with lettuce wrap, black fungus mix appetizer, mushrooms and broccoli and Shanghai noodle in soup. Peking duck and lettuce wrap was decent. I didn't like the Shanghai noodle in soup. It's not an overly authentic Shanghai or northern Chinese restaurant but they do some items like steamed Shanghai dumplings well. Parking is convenient and the restaurant is cleanish. The service has improved. It depends on the day. Overall room for improvement but you get your fix for Chinese food here.

This is the amount of food we've received as at 7:58PM for 6:00PM reservations. What an embarrassment.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining.
