Angus beef rice rolls
Christine L.

This is a Chinese dim sum restaurant serving high quality dim sums and Chinese dishes. Spacious, quiet, bright and modernly decorated with inidividual party rooms. Excellent attentive and friendly services throughout the entire visit and making sure your tea pot is always filled with water. Angus beef rice rolls is a must order. Rice rolls are smooth and chewy. They use true Angus beef meat that are diced and beef is flavorful. Black truffle mushroom dumplings are light and a mild earthy aroma. The black truffle flavour doesn't overpower the dumpling itself so bravo to chef's carefully perfect balance. Dumpling skin is crystal clear and good chewy texture which is essential when ordering dumplings. Soup dumpling was huge loaded with lots of ingredients such as crab meat, pork, shrimp, mushroom, abalone and scallops. The soup was rich and flavorful full of seafood in every bite. Deep fried shrimp balls were excellently executed. Crunchy on the outside but bouncy and juicy on the inside with shrimps bursting in your mouth on every bite. This is a large item and the balls were huge and thick in sizes. Again, fantastic job to chef's cooking skills and timing. MUST try! Turnip pastry was decent, I find the turnip was bit too mushy and soft for my liking imo. Other items I've had in the past were snowy mountain bbq pork bun which were delicious and bbq pork was fresh and bbq pork sauce was intense and flavourful. Chicken pot pie with a hint of curry sauce inside mixed with meats and veggies. Crispy flaky pie top was savoring. Their noodles dishes such as Efu noodle with dried scallops & enoki mushroom was tasty. Stir Fried Noodle w/ Leek Sprout, Shrimp & Pork was good too. Shrimp dumplings and pork dumplings (siu mai) were yummy as usual which you will find in high quality dim sum restaurants. 5 stars!! They currently have Monday-Friday 9am-11am early bird specials for $5.99 on all small, medium and large items, cash payment only. Washrooms are extremely spacious with individual rooms and detail oriented. Be sure to check it out.

Prices are not bad for the combos. It used to be really expensive. Ordered the crab combo plus oysters. They asked us how we would like it cooked, half the party wanted garlic and the other half wanted black bean. We asked if thats doable and they were like ofc no problem! Then it all came to be garlic.... Over promising... then asked if we would like the black bean instead. Well is that even a question? Thats what we ordered initially, wouldnt have ordered it if i didnt want it?! lol Celebrated a birthday and we brought our own cake. Server gladly cut the cake for us. Service was great otherwise.

Yu Seafood's been in my neighbourhood for a decade. I'd hear great things about the dim sum quality and it's always been on my bookmarks list, yet, for whatever reason (most likely the high price tag), I've just never paid a visit. Yea, I'm ten years late but that all changed recently when my cousin hosted her wedding dinner here. It was an intimate dinner party with only close family invited basically. As soon as I walked through the front door and into the reception area I was amazed at how grand it looked (is this what Jumbo Lobster was trying to mimic when they renovated their space?). We were guided through the first floor of the resto to the back where there was a set of stairs leading to a 2nd floor with private dining rooms and private washrooms. This was pretty cool. The top floor also had a separate set of stairs leading back down to the first floor to not interfere w/ the servers using the main stairs to bring food up from the kitchen. Anyways, I believe they got one of the most expensive sets for their wedding dinner (~$4000). It came with: live oysters assorted sashimi platter (included 3 lbs of Grade A geoduck) shark fin soup braised abalone & sea cucumber whole king crab (legs & knuckles steamed w/ egg whites and egg yolk) lobster w/ fried garlic and noodlefish steamed turbot lamb rack scrambled egg w/ king crab tomalley pea shoots in goji berry broth fried rice w/ shark fin soup sweet papaya w/ milk and bird's nest The geoduck was phenomenal. I've only eaten cooked geoduck but having it in sashimi form was excellent. It was crunchy, fresh and subtle in flavour. The lamb rack was prolly the "sleeper" hit imo. It was cooked perfectly on the inside and even though it said it was cooked with teriyaki sauce on the menu, I felt like these were seared or grilled because I could taste the charcoal in the meat. The papaya for dessert also stood out because it was super unique. I don't think I've actually had that dessert anywhere else before. A couple of sushi restos in Markham that my friends and I have dined at in the past, source their seafood from Yu's (which I guess acts as a wholesaler behind closed doors). It totally checks out though as the sashimi platter I experienced contained all sorts of premium fish like bluefin tuna and yellowtail. Very fresh stuff. For this wedding dinner experience, I'd give 4 or 4.5 stars. It's definitely a high end resto (w/ high end pricing) and you know it instantly as soon as you walk through the doors. I'll prolly have to come back in the future some day for dim sum but that's a harder sell for me as I don't think dim sum as a meal should warrant such a high price tag even if they're using supreme luxury ingredients.

Finally had the opportunity to visit Yu Seafood for dim sum/chinese brunch. Because we tried so many dishes, and what really stood out was the deep fried almond shrimp balls, and surpringsly the steamed spare ribs. The sou mai was classic and the shrimp dumplings were plump with shrimp, however maybe just a tad too much shrimp.... needed some pork or something as a binder. The spare ribs was of course tender, however had no funk or oiliness at all.

We recently visited Yu Seafood for the first time to try upscale Chinese fine dining, and here's my honest take. Foode are very flavorful, rich and well-balanced. Presentation was beautiful. Every dish looked as good as it tasted. The vibe of the restaurant is excellent and very comfy. BUT the service is where the experience fell short. When we were seated, there was no greeting or welcome, and no one poured tea for us. The menu wasn't introduced, and even the 9 piece sushi box we ordered wasn't explained. At checkout, our bill was taken without returning the change. My point is: service at this level of restaurant definitely needs improvement. The service does not match the quality of this dining experience, and hopefully they can improve in this area asap.

Came for the dimsum in the morning and there was barely a wait. It was pretty big portions for some of the dishes and they seem to be slightly elevated but otherwise a good fix for dimsum. We got the fish in 2 different ways with the congee and then fried. The interior is very upscale and the decor is very nice

One of my favourite dim sum place in Markham/Richmond Hill. Good ambiance and normal services. Food was yummy.

One of the best (if not the best) dim sum restaurants I've been to in North America! We arrived when they open at 9am on a Sunday and got a table right away without a reservation but I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on visiting a bit later in the morning on a weekend. It's more of a high end dim sum restaurant so it's beautifully decorated, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is calm and tranquil. A stark contrast to the more traditional and loud dim sum restaurants I'm accustomed to. No ladies pushing carts around; order via a paper menu. They give you two teapots: one with tea and another with hot water kept warm over a burning flame that you use to refill the pot with tea when you're done. We never had to refill the tea on our own because the servers were very attentive and refilled the tea for us. In terms of the food: Delicious!: - Chiu chow style dumplings- One of my favorite dim sum dishes and they prepare it well here. A bit heavy on the chives though. - Cotton chicken- The one I had in HK had more "cotton" (fish maw) but this one was still tasty and flavorful. - Spare ribs - Siu mai- Loved the texture of the meat!! - Shrimp dumplings- Did not try this but they were humongous and received positive reviews from others who tried them. - Glutinous rice black sesame balls- YUM!! - Ham sui gok Ok: - Steamed seafood dumpling in soup- Had to give this a try since it's not available in NYC but I found it a bit bland. Main takeaways: Food was delicious and came in huge portions. Do not over-order! I saw reviews that say the food here is expensive but the prices are actually similar to NYC except the food tastes so much better and comes in bigger portions. Cash or debit only!

Arrived at noon on a Saturday and it was about 30 minute wait for a table. We ended up getting seated in a private room area where there were dedicated servers in the room, but still nicely decorated as the main dining room. Definitely appears to be more of an upscale dim sum spot. Of course. We had to try the seafood. We ordered lobster congee, lobster in truffle sauce, and abalone noodles. These were so fresh and delicious! For dim sum items, we had shrimp dumplings, siu mai, egg yolk bun, tripe, octopus tentacles, curry squid, chicken feet, and rice noodle rolls. Honestly, these all hit the spot! The food was high quality and tasted great. The service was excellent and attentive throughout as well. Would visit again!

My family and I stopped by Yu Seafood for dim sum yesterday morning. We arrived at around 10:55 AM, and the waiting area was completely packed with eager customers. The waitlist system is divided into three categories: small (1-3), medium (4-6), large (7-10). Unfortunately, we waited for almost 2 hours before being seated, and by then, we were all pretty hangry. To make things worse, one of the hostesses was incredibly snooty and unfriendly, which made the already frustrating wait even worse. Once seated, we were given paper menus to mark down the quantities of the dishes we wanted. While the dim sum was fine, the dishes under the "Chef Special" section (items 49-71) really stood out as the highlights of the meal. If I had waited two hours just for dim sum, I would have been pretty disappointed. 52. 皇子菇芙蓉带子河 (STIR FRIED RICE NOODLES W/ SCALLOP & KING MUSHROOM) - 36 My mom did some peeking around, saw a nearby table ordering this dish and thought it looked delicious, so we decided to try it too. This one went hard. The first bite had most of us exclaiming "Oh!" in pleasant surprise. The noodles had the perfect chewy texture, soaking up the egg white-based sauce that was infused with the flavors of scallops. That first bite made me forget about the long 2 hour wait, and I could see why so many people were eager to eat here. The scallops were cooked perfectly and topped with roe, which was a nice touch. The king mushrooms had a meaty texture, and the yu choy was, well, just yu choy. Overall, it was a phenomenal dish that impressed all of us, and I couldn't help but take more than my fair share. 67. 鮮拆蟹肉扒豆苗 (BRAISED SNOW PEA LEAVES W/ FRESH CRAB MEAT) - 30 The snow pea leaves weren't very fresh, but they were stir-fried extremely well. Once again, they were cooked in an egg white-based sauce, topped with generous bits of crab meat. The crab meat didn't taste like fresh crab meat -- it had more of a dried crab meat texture and flavor. The dish had bold flavors overall, and the only improvement I can think of is to use fresher pea shoots to elevate it further. 54. 笼仔蒜香虾皇饭 (STEAMED GARLIC SEAFOOD W/ RICE) - 38 The rice here is first mixed with egg yolk, then topped with shrimp (or prawns) and, once again, the egg white-based sauce. Whatever rice they use here is definitely of high quality. Each grain was distinct and perfectly soaked up the fresh flavors of the shrimp and sauce. The sauce was phenomenal with a rich, garlicky depth. We thoroughly enjoyed this steamed seafood rice. The dishes mentioned above were the highlight of our meal, but I will mention which dim sum options we liked, as well as those we didn't enjoy as much. **FAVORITES** 1 上品金箔流沙包 (BAMBOO & CHARCOAL EGG YOLK BUN) 3PCS - 7.80 We waited too long to enjoy these, so the egg yolk was no longer "liquid" by the time we ate them. I loved the charcoal flavor of the bun and the egg yolk was tasty, too. 8 酱皇蒸风爪 (STEAMED CHICKEN FEET) - 6.99 Chicken feet is always good, and these were freshly steamed and marinaded with a delicious sauce. 18 藍鉆松子燕麥包 (STEAMED PANDAN OATMEAL BUN W/ PINE NUT & COCONUT) - 6.99 This was very unique! The oatmeal bun was perfectly steamed and a bit chewy. The pandan mixed with coconut and pine nut was the perfect, delicious filling I didn't know I had been missing out on. 24 黑芝麻流心煎堆 (GLUTINOUS RICE BLACK SESAME BALLS) 4PCS - 6.99 These were good and nicely baked. There was a lot of black sesame filling inside each one, and I enjoyed it. It is on the sweeter side, however. 45 即焗鲜奶挞 (BAKED EGG WHITE MILK TARTS) 3PCS - 7.99 I haven't had egg white egg tarts before, but I like that it's not too sweet. The puff pastry exterior was flaky and buttery, and we enjoyed it. **COULD SKIP** 4 漁膳房蝦餃皇 (STEAMED SHRIMP DUMPLINGS HAR GOW) 4PCS - 7.99 The skin of the har gao stuck to the bamboo basket and the shrimp wasn't flavored well. If there's one thing I don't like eating, it's poorly seasoned shrimp. 9 香芋蒸肉排 (STEAMED SPARE RIBS W/ TARO) - 6.99 These were pretty flavorful but the pieces I had was a bit fatty. My dad also noticed there was only one piece of taro in our order, though. 79 菊花鯪魚肉燒賣 (CHRYSANTHEMUM SIU MAI WITH DACE FISH PASTE) - 7.99 Where is the chrysanthemum? All I tasted was cilantro before I had the chance to bite into the siu mai. We did not like the fish based siu mai and would not recommend this dim sum. 82 蠔皇鲜竹卷 (BEAN CURD SHEET ROLL W/ OYSTER SAUCE) - 6.99 This was fine, but nothing special. It was also pretty oily. We were in and out within an hour. Food does come out really fast here. Note, they charge 2.75 per person for tea here. If you can overlook the rude hostess and focus solely on the food, it will be a delicious experience.

Really enjoyed their dim sum. Loved their interior and seating area. On weekdays (Monday - Thursday) their small, medium and large items are all $5.80 if you order before 11am! My favorite dish was the milk tarts which are made fresh as they take 30 mins to come (written on the menu). I also really liked their deep fried Seaweed Roll w/ Shrimp & Fish and Steamed Shrimp Dumpling ( Har Gow). All the dishes we got were very hot and tasty. Wait time can be a bit long depending on when you come. I recommend coming either right when they open or after 10 ish as that's when first group's seating limit is up.

They recently renovated and the decor and space was spacious and well lit. We came in for their lobster promotion $60 for a 4lbs lobster done any style (ginger onion, hk style, etc) what's great about this is they had the silverfish in the hk style. The other dishes were nice and light. I do find 38.88 for each dish a bit pricey though but we finished off with a nice assortment of desserts. Service was friendly and attentive, they changed our plates a few times without asking. Really recommend coming in for the promo.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Been curious about this place for a while and after getting a fairly positive review from friends…read morewe decided to give it a try. Located in a strip mall at Bayview and Hwy 7 the menu is all dim sum in a more casual environment. You are pointed to a table and tea is brought to you with a paper menu and pencil where you mark off your choices. From here is where there are differences from a more traditional dim sum business. Tea and water refills and condiments are self serve at the counter and there is a good selection. Extra cups are available so in addition to the tea you can also refill on hot water, cold water and hot soya milk which was clearly a popular item. It's served in a thermos jug and 2 were put out and within 15 minutes, 1 was emptied out. Quality of dim sum is just okay, as is the flavour. They have clay pot rice and the portion is on the small side but some good options. In addition to dim sum there is also a small selection of fried noodle Prices and service are decent. Most dim sum are $5.50 each. A 10% tip is automatically added to the bill. They close at 4 during the week so this really is just a lunch/dim sum place. If you want dim sum but also want a quick lunch this might be the place to go.

We especially loved Steamed Matcha Crispy Shrimp Rice Roll, it is soft outside and crispy inside with yummy shrimp. One particular good thing about this place is that self-serve drinks and condiment, they even have free hot soy milk on the counter, what a bonus. The place is not big, but well decorated and looks elegant from inside. The service is definitely something can be improved. There is a particular waitress always look angry and blunt. Their price is very reasonable and they have included 10% tip in the bill, just so you know.

One of the most popular dishes here is their popcorn chicken 盐酥鸡 because it's crunchy, lightly battered and juicy. It's a must try, along with the braised pork rice 卤肉饭 or the soup filled dumplings 小笼包 which are always on point. Well known for their beef noodle soup which is tasty. The beef was very tender, the broth had a nice flavour and the noodles had good texture. Their oyster pancake was not as flavourful as the ones I've had at the night markets in Taiwan but it's nice to have this on the menu since not all Taiwanese restaurants in Toronto offer it. Located on Yonge Street, north of Elgin Mills Road in Richmond Hill, it is a great place for takeout, dine in or delivery.

This place was almost full. Couples, large family with children in high chair, solo, pick-up customers. A good number of staff members are on the floor serving customers with smiles. One step in, I was impressed by the warm atmosphere. I was here for pick up # XLB # Pan fried dumpling While I was waiting, staff offered me a seat, asking if I would like some tea - again, this place was very busy when I came here, but they treated me with such a sweet/kind manner. XLBs were very good!!!!!!!! Though the seasoning was very moderate, each piece was beautifully hand pleated. The wrapper was very similar to that of the famous chain (DTF), thin and strong. I can feel a pleasant "bite" in the soft, thin layer. Delicate. The meat filling was tender, melt in the mouse with soup - whole integration was excellent. Satisfied! Pan fried dumpling had a thin wrapper. Because my preference for Pan fried dumpling is thick and chewy (like Northern style) and meaty one, I was not as impressed. But it is good for those who like thinner wrapper and healthier option as it had a lot of cabbage inside. This was also moderate seasoned but came with dipping sauce (vinegar & soy & chili). This place made me want to come back - next time for eat in, and love to try a popular noodle item (Beef noodle)!

We were brought to a table that was just being reset, and when asked to switch to a larger table, they had no issue with it. We asked for pu-erh and tieguanyin tea for the table; they brought us two pots of tieguanyin. Relatively easy fix but when we asked for pu-erh they almost brought us heung-pin. The wait staff was okay, most were pleasant. A few didn't look very happy to be there, maybe they were bored, it wasn't busy. I did find it was somewhat difficult to get their attention when we were looking for someone. Some of the food was served hot (dry fried beef noodle, glutinous meat dumpling) but unfortunately most of the food was warm, at best. The beef noodle was actually very tasty, and probably the best item we had. Sadly, the part that really leaves me uneasy is their fish tank. Three out of the four tanks were empty with green algae, with a dead fish at the bottom of the fourth. The optics really don't serve the restaurant in a positive way whatsoever. Honestly speaking, I lost my appetite once I realized what I saw.

The food was good, as expected like a typical Chinese dinner. The portions were decent and the food had good flavour. It didn't wow but hit the spot. They don't have complimentary soup but we ordered their daily soup and it was reasonable priced. The highlight was the complimentary dessert which included a sweet potato sago, mango jello and almond cookies. The service was very good though. They were so attentive and quick to action. I believe this is the same owner as Yumi Legend.
