Lucky Seafood House is a popular restaurant for seafood lovers who enjoy lobster, clams, shrimps and fish. They have a loyal following of regular restaurant patrons and the service is outstanding. The black bean clams looked good when the waitress brought them out to the table alongside a large bowl of chicken soup and several dim sum dishes. They have special combo menu options available which offer great value for large groups. Extensive dim sum menu options which are available before mid-afternoon. Automatic 12% service charge is added to your bill.

We came to Lucky Seafood House to try a new place :) Tea was full bodied, and although the wrap on the xiaolongbao was a little thick, the inside was juicy and meaty, so it was a good trade-off. Their seafood dumpling in soup was fantastic! Lots of shrimp and it even comes with an abalone :) Def don't rec the squid: too oily and tbh not fried enough. We were seated in room C so it was a little hard to get service but it was also Christmas eve so I understand it was busy. The ladies really tried their best!

I came here because of TikTok. I should have read the reviews first. During the week if you pay with cash and dine in between 9am - 3pm, all small, medium and large items are $4.98 each (the price of S). On weekends and Canadian/Chinese holidays it's until 11:30am. Between 11:30am-3pm, those S,M,L items are $5.68. Aside from S, M and L, there's also XL at $7.98, SP at $8.98 and J at $11.98. They also offer main dishes at different prices. Tea is $2.50/pp. By 11am the restaurant was full with diners. I thought the color choices for the interior were interesting. I didn't see any small tables for 2 people, they were at least for 4 or more. We ordered mostly L items to get the most bang for our buck. Everything we had was just average. Nothing stood out for me to get me to come back. The dumpling wrappers were thick. The sticky rice in lotus leaf was missing Chinese sausage, mushrooms and dried shrimp. It just had one small piece of salted egg yolk with bits of meat. You get what you pay for.

All the items in the photo were "large" items

The food is standard, nothing crazy to rave about. The venue is relatively spacious and clean. I would probably come back if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of the way for it. Their food is more on the blend side, so better for older people. Cons: They charge you tea money even if you're not drinking tea at the table. We went for coffee before going here, so we told them we just want water. When the bill came, we were still charged for tea, even though there was no tea at our table. It was $2.5/ person for "tea"

Lucky Seafood House offer Cantonese food at a reasonable price. I love all their specials: weekdays dim sum for (S,M,L) $4.98 all day! I went on a Monday after 1 pm and got seated right away. Their dim sum menu has a good selections and even their specials are tempting! Portion of food is large and made fresh when ordered. The taste though fell short and a little disappointing. Out of the 8+ dishes we ordered the only item I would suggested would be: Pork Liver Rice Rolls. 12% mandatory service charge pre tax which is added to the bill. Reasonable but unfortunately service was lacking as they were understaffed. Lucky Seafood House is ok if you just want to eat some dim sum for cheap. I hope moving forward they could make the necessary improvement both on their food and services.

Scallop during dim sum. $6 each

Place is located on Woodbine and Steeles in the basement of a building. There's a Zen Q nearby bubble tea nearby. The place is quite spacious with a few private rooms available. There's also Karaoke at night if you wish, just ask the owner. Went here with a friend for dimsum, they have it for weekdays about $5 per dish S,M,L (SP, XL, J are extra) until 3pm. I forgot to take pics but we ordered scallop for $6 which was quite delicious (only photo I took). Also got some beef rice roll, dough fritter rice roll - honestly not that good because the rice rolls were pretty sticky and thick. I won't be ordering the beef anymore but I'll order shrimp next time. Shrimp spring roll is mediocre, sauce isn't that amazing but just okay. The good ones were the pancake nuts dessert, chicken cilantro dumplings. I have yet to try their siu mai, as I was too full but will surely come here next time.

This was a very decent place and close to home. They have all the common dishes that everyone likes, so it was a good variety. The best part was most sizes were $4.98. The bill was very reasonable! The place itself needs a facelift. Food was generous in portion but average in taste. Not bad not outstanding! Not super memorable but we'll likely come again.

Average dim sum place but you're able to make a reservation even on holidays which is helpful for big groups. Service was good, decor is traditional Chinese. The dim sum is fine - I wouldn't hesitate to go but don't especially stand out. Super affordable - less than $5 a dim sum (all sizes). We were a group of 8 and our total came to $155 including tax, tips and tea fee.

DIM SUM deal for those who sleep in! Most dim sum places offer morning special (same price for S/M/L) that usually ends around 11am. But, until 3pm?!! That's rare to see.The spot isn't super fancy, but they serve yummy dim sum and friendly service $4.98 Mon-Fri 9am-3pm Sat-Sun 9am-11:30am $5.68 Sat-Sun 11:30am-3pm My all-time dim sum picks: -Har Gow (L) -Siu Mai (L) -Beef Ball (M) -Beef Tripe (L) -Chicken Feet (L) -Ham Shui Kok (M) In some other places, classic dimsum choices aren't included in the special price. Glad this place does :)

Not a bad option for dim sum, especially considering the long line-ups at the restaurants just across the street. I imagine the location plays a role in this - it's a bit harder to see from Woodbine, and doesn't have a very flashy exterior. The inside layout is also a bit odd and isn't the most accessible especially for elders. That aside, the food is pretty good and the price is great. They are one of the few places I've observed that still offer pre-11AM deals. It is only $4.98 for S, M, L dishes before 11AM. This is an extremely good deal. Their portions are normal and the taste is authentic. I truly believe you cannot find cheaper dim sum in the GTA anymore. They have all the normal dishes but nothing too unique or special on the menu. The restaurant did fill up but it wasn't full the entire time we were there. When we first arrived at 9:30AM there were plenty of available tables. I can appreciate a restaurant with no wait these days. Our bill was around $150 I believe, for 10 people. Very very reasonable.

We had a birthday celebration dinner, so we ordered the $638 dinner combo for 10 PP. It was very well made. I particularly liked the big lobster dish and the abalone with goose feet dish. They were expertly made, and delicious. There was enough food to feed the 11 of us. The service was good. The servers replaced our plates and tea regularly. The restaurant wasn't busy during our visit, which was a pity. I really recommend the dinner experience here.

Value-for-money dim sum in Markham (time-limited). Service: Similar to other dim sum restaurants, except they were fully staffed on a Wednesday morning and they weren't too busy, so it was quite attentive. Food: The portion of dim sum for each dish was hearty and of great value. The har gow was full of plump and juicy shrimp, the steamed rice roll was similar and also included some veggies inside which was quite unique. We also really liked the other steamed dishes, with the beef tripe being nice and tender, and the steamed bean curd was delicious as well. The deep fried taro dumplings were also very crispy and flakey, especially as it was in a fresh batch of oil Everything tasted as it should, and although not as fancy as other restaurants in the area, the prices are very reasonable (if you arrive before 3:00pm on a weekday or 11:30am on a weekend). The tea/sitting fee was quite pricey for the quality served, and the 12% service charge is tacked on top of your bill as well. Ambience: Docked a star for the ambience, as it was in a plaza that's quite dated and in the basement no less, with long hallways from the entrance. Inside, the decor is fairly similar to other Chinese restaurants, although there weren't too many tables. The Christmas/holiday music was also a bit distracting, as they played the same song on repeat for an hour before the manager noticed, but I assume that's not a typical experience. Overall: Good food and good portions for a good price. Tip: Place your order before 3:00pm on weekdays and 11:30am on weekends for the special dim sum pricing!

Fried Squids.... Or more like fried onionsssssss
    Amy N.

I ordered takeout over the phone, but it seemed like the person who took my order had a hard time understanding English. I asked for "deep fried squid with salt and peppers," but when I got home, I realized they gave me "stir-fried onions with blackbeans" --which had tons onions with bell peppers and only a few pieces of squid for $24.50! The fried rice noodles with beef were plain, with no flavor, and cost $19.80. The shrimp fried rice, which also included chicken and beef, was similarly bland and priced at $24.50. In total, I spent $80 and felt completely ripped off and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this place for placing take outs!

Despite seated near the door, it was well insulated and I never felt cold. The seating is still bar-like, with metal chairs over something more comfortable. The menu offers both HK-style cafe dishes and western seafood-oriented dishes. Staff appears to understand limited Chinese, and they double checked what our group ordered for drinks. I decided to go for the baked seafood spaghetti with cold Dutch tea (both hot and cold drinks are at the same price!). The presentation was a bit messy but flavourful. I wish the staff gave extra plate for me to place the empty oyster and clam shell rather than pushing them to the edge of my plate. The staff never gave us any water until we asked. My favorites were the sweet soy-braised tofu skin, japchae, and spicy cucumber salad. The hot barley tea also paired really well with the marinated seafood. Marinated Crab The platter comes with six half pieces of soy-marinated crab and six half pieces of spicy marinated crab. The soy-marinated crab tasted very traditional, with a strong sweet soy sauce flavor. Compared with another Michelin pop-up restaurant I tried before, this version was much richer and saltier. The blue crab meat had a soft, jelly-like texture from the curing process, which was impressive. However, the soy sauce became quite dominant after a few pieces, so I highly recommend pairing it with the beef tendon soup or barley tea to balance the flavors. The spicy crab, however, wasn't my favorite. Instead of the sweet, savory heat that I usually associate with Korean gochujang, it leaned more toward the direct heat of Korean chili flakes, similar to the spice level in tteokbokki. I felt the spiciness overwhelmed the natural sweetness of the crab rather than enhancing it. Marinated Shrimp I was worried that eight shrimp wouldn't be enough, but the plate was huge. They use giant tiger prawns, each about the size of my hand, so two or three are already quite filling. Because the prawns are so large, they are only lightly cured, so the meat stays firm and springy instead of becoming soft like the Cantonese-style marinated shrimp I'm more familiar with. The sweet soy marinade penetrates the meat very well, making every bite flavorful. However, after a few shrimp, the soy sauce becomes increasingly dominant and the flavor starts to feel one-dimensional. Personally, I prefer the layered flavors of Cantonese-style marinated seafood, where the freshness of the seafood is complemented by ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fish sauce. Beef Tendon Soup This ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. The broth was rich with beef flavor and had a wonderful silky texture from the collagen released by the tendon. It paired perfectly with the marinated seafood. A sip of the soup cleansed the palate from the strong soy sauce, making the next bite of crab or shrimp taste fresh again. The tendon itself was tender and well-cooked. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the mustard soy dipping sauce served on the side. Overall, this meal felt more like experiencing two very different marinated seafood traditions. Korean-style marinated seafood emphasizes the deep savory flavor developed through soy sauce curing, while Cantonese-style marinated seafood highlights the natural sweetness of the seafood with layers of ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fresh aromatics. Even though I personally still prefer the Cantonese style, I enjoyed experiencing this traditional Korean approach.
