Here to get together with my girlfriend for Saturday lunch- we had a lot to catch up, and this place was perfect for ordering food slowly one by one as we talk. Arrived at 11am when they opened for the day. I was the first one to arrive, but this place got full by noon with families. I picked this place as they had XLB in their menu. But unfortunately, this was machine made - looks and tastes just like famous chain fast-food dumpling place. (of course, here charges more $$ than the chain restaurant). Har Gaw, hot& sour soup, black sesame sweet buns, deep fried dumplings with pork/shrimp are all OK. I wanted to order more but I did not find any small dishes that attract me. I wished they had more variety in their dim sum menu. It is quite limited. Nonetheless - this place was clean, stylish, and affordable. Service was pleasant. We went to Ming Cuisine on the Labor Day long weekend, and I'm glad we arrived early because by the middle of dinner the place was completely packed. The atmosphere was lively, and it was clear this is a popular spot for families and gatherings. We ordered quite a variety of dishes. The house appetizer plate was a great way to start. Nicely presented with four different items, each offering a fun contrast in flavor and texture to wake up your appetite. Among all the mains, the honey deep-fried oysters stood out. They were generously sized, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a perfectly balanced honey glaze. This is definitely one of those signature dishes you won't be able to (or want to) recreate at home coz it's just tonnes of work. Another highlight for me was the shredded chicken with scallion and sea cucumber. The chicken was well-marinated and paired beautifully with the scallion and diced sea cucumber. What surprised me was that the bones were served under the meat. At first, I thought it was odd, but once I tried them, I realized how flavorful they were. The marinade and juices had soaked in, making them absolutely addictive. It ended up being the perfect dish to enjoy with a couple of beers. We also tried the braised whole sea cucumber with mushroom, a very traditional and high-end classic dish that seniors especially appreciate. Personally, I found it a little bland, but it's considered a delicacy and brought a nice balance for the older family members. Rounding out the meal were the sweet and sour pork. Crispy, tangy, and a universal favorite, and the Maggie sauce beef with veggies, which was flavorful and satisfying for everyone. For dessert, we were served a complimentary almond milk dessert, which was light, silky smooth, and a perfect way to finish such a big dinner. On top of the food, the service was excellent. David, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal. He personally introduced us to the restaurant's signature dishes and made us feel welcome throughout the night. It was busy when I arrived. Luckily it was with a small group and we got a table without waiting. I ordered the sautéed shredded chicken and sea cucumber with wasabi, stir-fried pork jowl with Chinese broccoli, steamed fried rice with crab, and minced beef soup. All the dishes come out within about 15 minutes. I really enjoyed the shredded chicken. It had great flavor and the meat was tender. The sea cucumber didn't have much taste on its own but added a gelatinous texture to the chicken. The soup came in a huge portion. I recommend adding some pepper or vinegar to enhance the flavor. The stir-fried pork jowl was also delicious. The steamed fried rice with crab was okay. The garlic flavor didn't quite get into the crab. The service was excellent. A Chinese restaurant with dishes served family style. This place always hits the spot for me and I've been here a couple times, each time celebrating someone's birthday. The restaurant is tiny, so you must make a reservation in advance. Their turnaround is quick and you'll feel rushed out of the restaurant for them to flip for the next table. However, service is good and food is even better! Here's what we got: Appetizer platter 5/5 - We always get this platter as it comes with an array of flavours and textures. Comes with a fried sausage, fried tofu, wood ear mushroom and cucumber appetizer. Great for sharing and you can get a taste of everything before your mains come. Hand shredded chicken 5/5 - Who can say no to having your chicken hand shredded for you? It comes in a wasabi flavour so it packs a punch when you eat it. Served cold. Nice appetizer dish. Beef cubes with peppers 4/5 - Great wok flavouring in this dish. The beef is tender and delicious. Prawns and scallops with snow peas 4/5 - A classic Chinese dish. Nothing special but still pretty good for it's flavour. Lobster with vermicelli noodles 5/5 - Vermicelli noodles had great flavour. Lobster was even better, fried to perfection with juicy pieces of lobster. Lobster with salted egg yolk 5/5 - One of my favourite ways to eat lobster. Has a punch of flavour from the salted egg yolk and it's fried perfectly. Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. Steamed bass 5/5 - Another dish that they do very well. They cook it to perfection so that it's still flakey and fresh! Complimentary dessert 5/5 - This changes often. The time I was there we had a sesame/ almond paste that was delicious and a great change from the regular red bean soup. Overall, a great Chinese restaurant that is cozy and delicious. read more

Ming cuisine is a new gem that we just found out in the restaurant district of Richmond Hill. We tried both dine-in and takeout recently. They provided decent food yet average service as you would usually expect from Cantonese restaurants. They have signature dishes including plum duck and winter melon seafood soup which require pre-order at least one day in advance. We tried a mixture of their dim sum (BBQ pork bun, shrimp dumplings, sesame soup, almond soup) and regular menu items (pork ribs, Hainan chicken, pea tips, plum duck, deep fried pumpkin and shrimp with egg yolk). Most dishes were decent. - BBQ pork bun: perfectly flavoured. One of our favorite items here. - Shrimp dumplings: Decent size with well-flavoured stuffings, but the skin was not so good. - Sweet almond soup: Definitely a star dish. One can tell they used good amount of almonds to bring out that nice scent. - Sweet sesame soup: it was just ok. - Pea tips: It was good. They did actually pick the leaves which are easier to chew. - Deep fried pumpkin and shrimp with egg yolk: Another star dish! Pumpkins were so soft and shrimp was so flavourful. - Hainan chicken: Decent size especially when we dined in. Perfectly flavoured. - Plum duck: I like the sweet and sour flavour but there were too many bones. - Pork rib: mediocre. Nothing special. Among all dishes, the stars were the Hainan chicken, the almond soup, the BBQ pork bun and the pumpkin and shrimp dishes. The chef here seem to have very solid cooking fundamentals. We would definitely revisit this place in future to try out their other dishes. read more

Went here for my bro's bday dinner. I live within a 10 min drive of this place but ever since inception I haven't visited because it always had a reputation for being expensive. Jumping straight to the food. Winter melon soup: Very good! The server told us they didn't add any additional water to it and all the soup came solely from the juice of the melon. Sweet n' sour pork: Good but doesn't crack top 5. No pineapples in this one. Pork was crispy. Could've been a bigger portion imo. Beef Tenderloin w/veggies: Beef was tender but does not trump the tenderloin at Starchiva (which is the king). Dish could've had more meat. They gave a lot of veggies in the plate. Salted egg yolk prawns: Good crunch, good flavour. I think I still the prawns peeled before being cooked in the salted egg yolk but that's just a personal preference I guess. Crispy chicken: Imo, the best dish of the night. Instead of worcestershire and salt, they served it with a side of lemon juice which I honestly worked better than the former. The breast was dripping moisture too. Really well-cooked chicken. A *must-order* item imo. Deep fried oysters in honey-based sauce: 2nd best dish. Perfect crispy, sauce was sooo balanced. Stir fried scallops with mushrooms and chinese broccoli: Rounding out the top 3 dishes, was this one. I'm not the biggest fan of gai lan because of it's bitter nature. For this particular dish the resto used baby gai lan which didn't have any bitter aftertaste to the stems at all. The scallops were also perfectly cooked. Steamed black bean eel: My grandma wolfed down most of this as it's one of her fave foods. I thought it was on the same level as eel that my mom could've made at home tbh. Would be down to come back in the future but most likely for special occasions because they're priced higher than Starchiva but serve similar fare (I would argue Starchiva is still the king in Richmond Hill at the moment). Oh yea, the owner struck up a convo with our family since we were one of the last ones to leave around closing time. First time dining here upon recommendation by friends. I was part of a party of 11. We had reservations for 7:45pm on a Saturday. We arrived on time, but had to wait for our table because the previous seating at 6pm had not finished yet. Their space is SUPER crammed, and for 11 people we could not all fit in the entryway without constantly being in the way of patrons entering/leaving, and staff trying to run between the two dining areas which are connected by the front entryway. On a warm day, we would've been fine to wait outside. But this was a particularly and unexpectedly windy and cold night. This made waiting between their double glass doors brutal. The wind comes right through and at you. The inner glass doors are loose and swing in/out uncontrollably because of the strong wind! So not only would you feel a draft, but it would push the door open. I witnessed the door hitting staff as they were pacing back and forth serving food. They also oddly installed a counter top cabinet RIGHT at the entrance way, which takes up MORE of the narrow entry way. The servers often placed new or eaten dishes here, as they were serving nearby tables. But then new customers waiting here could easily lean into the dish. It was quite bizarre...why not use collapsible tray tables to save room and be portable? That's a common tool in restaurants short on space. While we waited, no effort was made to inform us which table was ours and how long the wait would be. One of the female servers scurrying by, just waved us off, saying "the table is paying soon". We spotted one large table clearing by the entrance and naturally thought it was our table. Once the last group vacated the table, a male staff escorted us to the table and we happily followed -- eager to get out of the wind. But then the female server came and YELLED at the male server, "That's not their table! That's a reserved $1000+ table with pre-ordered meal." Which made us feel overlooked and worthless. The male staff (who oddly seems to be a manager) apologized and motioned for us to go back to waiting. And still, no one could tell us how much longer we had to wait... Eventually, we sat. Despite the flurry of servers around, we were rarely checked up on because we sat in the smaller dining room (with just two large tables). We had about 5 different people serving us, speaking a mixed combo of English, Mandarin and/or Cantonese. 3 out of the 5 were courteous and pleasant. But the other two were snappy. And overall the service was very disorganized. Ordering food was another unpleasant experience. Many in our party was here for the first time. As we poured over the menu, the server kept responding with "oh, you have to preorder that 24h in advance" to EVERY OTHER DISH we wanted to eat. Almost all their specialty dishes were not available to get as walk-in order. EVEN crispy chicken, a pretty standard dish at Chinese restaurants. Quail, sticky rice chicken, all the tasty stuff... And then at the end of the meal, the friendly male staff came asking us what we enjoyed. He looked at our table and asked why we didn't order some of their signature dishes. And we told him, "because you don't let people order them immediately". He then basically blames us for not pre-ordering, as if it's the most normal thing to do. How do you assume people know this? And what a silly way to may your first-time customers feel like they missed out on your BEST dishes, and make it feel like THEIR fault. Ugh. And this was maybe their friendliest staff. Finally, to the food: Overall was passable. Decent flavours but most dishes had small portions or mismatched ratio of ingredients, making it a pricey meal for what you get. For example, the claypot eel -- it came and the portion looked like it was partially eaten. That's how SMALL it was. It was expensive and there were 9 pieces in the pot. There were 11 of us. It's common for Chinese restaurants to ensure each person at the table has a serving. We were short 2. One of their signature dishes was available to us: the hand shredded chicken with sea cucumber and wasabi sauce. This was the first time we've ever seen BONES served with hand-shredded chicken. The wasabi sauce completely overpowered the chicken. And there was scarcely any sea cucumber...to the point where 9 out of 11 of us didn't realise it had sea cucumber in the dish. The best thing was the pea shoots. They only dish that had ample portion. But with so many other choices in the neighbourhood, I would not choose to come back. read more

I love how they expand the lunch menu to includes dim sum and other small plates. Love the varieties. But I always ended up order the Haninnese Chicken Rice that comes with a double boiled soup. Family style food with good portions Food: Ordered a couple of lunch specials that came with the double boiled soup, which was very flavourful and tasted like a well-done traditional chicken soup. The noodles with bbq pork were more on the salty and a hint bitter, perhaps from the char on the pork. The black bean sauce was on the strong side as well, but the rice and veggies were cooked well. The shredded chicken and sea cucumber dish were also very tender and tasted good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Service: There were quite a few small tables and a couple of large tables, and the servers were very nice and fairly attentive. No complaints or any issues on the service. Atmosphere: The place was decorated very traditionally, with a wall of vases and lots of tile, giving it an upscale ambience. This is just a review pertaining to their bad service and attitude. Have been here a few times and their food is decent. My recollection is that they have good deep fried tofu appetizer and so I wanted to go and eat again. We went early on a weekend before 12pm. The restaurant wasn't full at all not even half full but all of them are the large round tables. So for the two of us, there's no small table for us. The attitude of the staff was so bad, instead of putting it in a polite way, she just said there's nothing for you you have to wait for those people to finish (but in a bad mood, impolite tone). While we were waiting, we also heard that they were like arguing with a table of customers about reservations/how many people show up etc. We then decided to leave. No food is good enough for us to tolerate bad attitude. read more

Our vaccination receipts and IDs were checked at the door. All the tables are physically distanced and there's less tables than there were previously. I've been here many times and the food is always good. This time we got the stir fried bean vermicelli lunch combo that includes a daily soup and vegetarian spring roll. We also ordered a stir fried rice flour roll with XO sauce. The food comes out fairly quickly and very hot, especially the soup. The fried fishes added a nice crunch to the vermicelli. There is a lot of vermicelli so it's more of a sharable dish than only for one person. There was a hint of spice with the rice flour rolls from the red chillies but if you don't eat those you should be fine. There also are lunch seafood combos and those are decently priced. It's only in Chinese though so bring someone who can read what's included. read more

It was the first time for me to try this restaurant. Some people said it is good and tasty and expensive. Checked the menu before we visit, the dishes look good and fancy. Price is reasonable for most of them. My family had made the reservation before, and we didn't need to wait. And they ordered the soup days ago, then we could have the soup right away after everyone was here. The soup was good and with lots of ingredients in it. Really traditional. I came here for lunch for the first time. Usually I come for their set dinner menu (I definitely recommend it for a good night out with family). Definitely pricey for lunch, but the food is delicious. The 3 dishes I ordered came to $120 after taxes and tips. The lobster e-fu noodles had a fair amount of lobster, but I think that they could have been more noodles. For a $50 dish, they could have added a bit more noodles so that the dish is more filling. Amazing flavour for the whole dish though! The noodles were slightly undercooked and hard, but I think that's just a one-time miss, as I've been here multiple times before. The salted egg pumpkin was extremely well priced in my opinion. It was $8 and had plenty of pumpkin so that the dish can be enjoyed well. There are many other options of vegetables to choose from (e.g. bittermelon, sweet potato, and many others that I don't remember) The fried rice was fried rice. Nothing much to say about it. Never could imagine how disrespectful and ridiculous a restaurant can be. Here it is.... We walked into Ming Cusine at 4:30pm on Saturday, it was empty, not single table was occupied. We asked for a table, the waitress was busy with sorting out some wraps, trays and telling us the only tables available was the one right at the entrance and the one that they were working on sorting out all the empty trays while they had a whole restaurant full of empty tables. We were told all the tables have been reserved and the earliest reservation was at 6:00pm. There was no indication of any sort of party scheduled and apparently people making reservation would tell them the specific table that they would book. Conclusion: if you don't want to be treated so ridiculously disrespectful, go somewhere else. read more

Good solid Chinese food! The restaurant is quite small and it seems to be always full. We couldn't get a table the times when we came without a reservation so unless we have one we don't bother trying to just walkin. The seafood here is great especially if you like fresh steam fish. We also really like some of their specialty dishes like the Shredded Chicken with Sea cucumber with wasabi and Steam Tofu with Scallops in garlic & black bean sauce. We usually change the tofu to be in garlic sauce only without the half of the dish in the black bean sauce. Be sure to leave some room for the complementary dessert. My parents took me to Ming Cuisine for dinner when I was visiting them in Toronto, as they raved the excellent Chinese food and seafood here. The dinner menu was quite extensive, however we went off the board for most of our orders. One off the board item we ordered was the geoduck sashimi. Definitely a recommendation if they have them in stock (limited supply as I was told). We also had the crab meat and fish maw thick soup, general tao chicken, crispy bitter melon (off the board item), and a manta ray fillet (off the board item). I could probably do without the bitter melon, but everything else tasted very good. Reminded me of Dragon Boat in a few ways. The decor is quite upscale, which reflected the pricing here. Unfortunately the seating layout wasn't the best, as there's areas near the back where the seats and tables were quite cramped. Service was excellent, as is expected with an upscale place like this. I'll definitely return and try more items (perhaps even their lunch menu). read more

Disappointing. This was one of our favourite spots for a good meal. Went here for a special birthday where we spent $700 for 4 people. Service was rushed because the kitchen "had to close". We got there at 7:30 so it's not like we were there late. They didn't help much with arranging plates when the food came and instead handed things to us. Dessert came while food was on the table. Forks that were metal were switched with plastic. Then when the bill came, extra charges all over. The 10% cash discount we expected on the whole bill was actually excluding all seafood which was most of our meal. But they never told us that. So it ended up being only 3%. Poor communication and service so we are never going back. read more

I went on a Monday with my family for a birthday celebration. I did made reservation ahead as you will need to for their soup which they are known for. We ended up order a set meal for 4-6ppl which is more than enough as it comes with a 5lb lobster. And just like the rest of those seafood restaurant, they came out to show you the lobster and tell you it weights more than 5lb and to tell you to pay the difference. However, it was just over by very little and we only paid $6 extra. For the set course, you can choose how you like the lobster meat cooked. We picked the salted egg yolk flavour which I would say a must! It was nicely done and they gives you salted egg yolk pumpkin as well which is awesome! Their soup and dessert are must have! Overall comparing to other lobster seafood restaurants around town, I think this one taste good and reasonably priced. read more

Ming Ming, every time I come around yo city Ming Ming. You would think this is your typical Chinese restaurant located in Richmond Hill, but you are wrong my friend. No matter what time of day or day of the week, this place is rammed to the brim. Yes people that want to get their egg coated lobster on, or people simply coming to gaze at their Chinese porcelain decor head to Mings. I came here with the GF and fam, and they loved it. The food here is not only fresh, it's delicious. Probably the first place I have ever tried egg battered oysters or fried yellow-fin Garoupa cooked to perfection. In fact the Garoupa here is the best I've had in Tdot, and I stand by that! Service here is typical for this part of town, but the food comes out mega quick and their dishes and utensils are spick and span. Order with caution though, the dishes are ginormous and super rich. Expect to loosen up your belt a bit after a session at this joint! read more

This is a pretty fancy and expensive Chinese restaurant. The tables are all covered in nice tablecloths, they have elegant teapots, and they even have porcelain chopstick rests for each person to lay their chopsticks on. The food came out relatively quickly - we were basically in and out in about an hour. The food itself I'd give 4 stars overall. We got pork/chicken soup; Cantonese chow mein; steamed bass; and pumpkin and bitter melon coated with crispy salted egg yolk. The soup was decent. It wasn't too greasy or salty, which was good. They added plenty of meaty bones to it, which imparted a nice flavor to it. The chow mein came with a lot of different things: chicken, beef, char siu (bbq pork), shrimp, scallop, bell peppers, onions, and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). Everything in the dish was pretty good except for the char siu, which tasted old. It's very common for Chinese restaurants to use old char siu in these kinds of dishes, but for a fancy restaurant where we're paying over $18 just for a noodle dish, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect fresh meat. For the beef, I could tell they used some tenderizer powder to make it softer, but it wasn't too excessive like at some other Chinese restaurants. The chow mein wasn't too greasy or salty, so I was happy with it overall. I usually don't like salted egg yolk, but I decided to try the pumpkin and I was impressed. It didn't have as strong a flavor as other salted egg yolk dishes I've tried elsewhere. It had a great crispy texture and wasn't overly greasy. The bass was fine. It was fresh and tasty. Was it worth the $50? Not in my opinion, but my mom really has a thing for fresh fish... What wasn't so great here was the service, which I found to be pretty irritating and intrusive. At one point during the meal, my brother's chopsticks were resting on the napkin instead of the chopstick rest. A waiter came by, grabbed the chopsticks, and put them back on the rest. And then he proceeded to rearrange our teacups on the table. Excuse me, but we should be able to place our chopsticks and cups wherever we want...leave us alone! Later on in the meal, I was in the process of serving my mom more soup, when the waiter walked up, literally grabbed the ladle out of my hand without saying anything, and then served my mom instead. It's just weird, because they do this kind of thing instead of performing basic service like bringing rice for us when we ask (we had to ask again because they totally forgot) or taking orders in a timely manner (the table next to us was waving and clapping to get someone's attention. We had to flag someone down too). All in all, we were happy with our food and I don't regret coming here to eat. It's pricy, but they do a good job and the portions are pretty generous. read more

We came on a cold sunny Saturday and were late enough to miss the lunch crowd but early enough to still be able to take advantage of the lunch specials. Location: This place is located on 16th and Spadina Road. Its in a plaza with some other restaurants. There's a bus stop on the corner if you want to bus it but dude, it's the suburbs. Tonnes of free parking. Decor: Its small and very elegant. I love the decor. Its dark wood, and blues, with a pretty golden painting on the back wall. The first visit was when it had first opened and they were working out some kinks I guess. Seating consisted of tables and chairs, no booths. There's a biggish private room to the side that looks like it can fit maybe 15- 20 people. Food: They have a three 'course' Prix fixe lunch specials for $9.99. We decided to each get one and share. It comes with soup, a spring roll, and the main that you ordered. We got corn and chicken soup. (The house soup was out. We were bummed, it's delicious), a tiny spring roll, and an order of egplant in minced pork with xo sauce and a steamed rice with Chinese sausage in a lotus leaf. Soup was delicious I love the corn soup. It always looks like they opened a can of creamed corn in a pot of chicken soup. I really like creamed corn. . The spring roll came on a skewer and was nice a fresh and crunchy. I lived the steamed rice. I tend to find the Chinese sausage a strong flavour because it's usually in big chunks but it was almost minced and I liked the flavour distribution. My favourite dish is the eggplant and chilli and this was not a disappointment. The eggplant was soft but not overcooked and stringy. The xo sauce was really flavourful and enhanced the pork nicely. Nice spice level too. Service: Service was efficient. I wouldn't exactly call anyone who waited our table as friendly or concerned for our enjoyment, but we got the food and they refilled out tea fast and efficiently so who needs to make friends. Called a couple days ahead to make reservation to ensure we have a table and placed order for the crispy chicken with stuffed sweet rice dish (advanced order required). Came earlier on the day and they were able to accommodate. You can see from the crowd that the food would be good because it's mostly older folks who like to dine out with friends or family with older folks who like a nice meal. The portions are huge and everything we ordered was on point, packed full of flavors and cooked with Care. We ordered: - stuff rice crispy chicken - soooo good, it's like law mai fan with lap churn stuffed in deboned chicken. The amount do work required to make it is insane. - sweet and sour (goo loo) pork - the pork is so crispy even in the sauce the crisp is still there - egg yolk with pumpkin and sweet potato - so many pieces in the dish, every piece was coated with egg yolk and fried to perfection - Choi sum sautéed in garlic - those are some fresh Choi sum and flavor was on point as well - tofu scallops two flavors - this was a good dish but not my favorite out of everything we ordered because its too much to eat - pan fried noodles with chicken and seafood - the kids killed this dish so that says it all The owner came around (spoke mandarin) to check on every table. Very attentive which I like. They take credit card but if pay cash there's a 10% discount. Must try dinner spot when in the area. read more

I tried their set menu for dinner and was happy with the quality of the food. Not all Chinese restaurants offer geoduck sashimi and they had pretty fresh ones. All the dishes were done nicely including the veggies, chicken, and fish. The service is good and prices are reasonable. My only complaint is that it's a bit crammed inside the restaurant. read more

Love the deep fried tofu with black sesame. Crispy on the outside and oh so soft on the inside. Besides that, I found the food to be generally too salty. As part of our set meal, we had the choice of lobster either deep fried with egg yolk and pumpkin, or fried with scallion. We chose the deep fried with pumpkin, and I didn't like the batter at all. My review is based on my lunch experience. Food: 4 stars - the lunch combo: choose from 10 main dish items and each comes with a bowl of double boiled soup and veggie spring roll. We ordered Hoi Nam style Chicken with Rice and Spare ribs Steam Rice in Bamboo pot. The quality of food is good. Chicken has a nice texture and flavour. Spare ribs are tender and well marinated. Service: This is the problem and I feel hesitate to go back. Ming Cuisine seems to be a "higher end" Cantonese cuisine restaurant, but the lunch service is very lacking. We arrived shortly after noon, the restaurant is almost filled. Because of overly crowded, we needed to share a big table with another group (that is common in low end Chinese restaurants/ HK style cafes). After we are seated, We waited for 10 minutes and being ignored; even we waved to the servers numerous times and they avoided eye contact with me. Tea was not refilled during the whole meal. My Yelp friend, Jennifer K advised me to go there early otherwise the double boiled soup will be sold out and replaced with other type of soup. This time we are fortunate to get the double boiled soup, however the Hoi Nam Chicken ran out of chicken fat rice but we have to take the white rice after we placed the order. read more

Ming Cuisine serves up good food but the place and service is lacking. Food & Price: - Golden batter fried oysters were tasty, very crispy and rich in the salted egg flavour, around $26 for 6 large oysters. - Grouper fish tail with tofu and veggies was large in terms of portion size and came with a meary fish tail and lots of fried tofu which was yummy. The dish was around $45. - Hand shredded chicken with sea cucumber had a strong mustard taste. Wasn't expecting this strong flavour but after a few bites we got used to it. - Taiwanese platter with sausage and black fungus, not bad, a lot of tables order this as an appetizer. - No soup with meal but does include free dessert - Value wise is so-so, moderate high pricing but the food is considered good quality and does have some uniqueness to it. Will want to try the vermicelli lobster next time with more people. Place: - Super cramped and busy. Tables are placed very close together as the restaurant itself is quite small. Service: - Don't expect much service here, plates do not get changed and slow in clearing tables of finished dishes. Came here for my aunts birthday and was very pleased with the food. Was not riddled with MSG or salt. All dishes were fresh and had a few vegetarian options for some of us that did not want meat or seafood. The soup that we ordered that they are well known for was so flavourful and The broth had a lot of meat and herb base, tastes like it's been simmering for days to extract all the flavour! My favourite dish was the salted egg yolk fried lobster and crab that also had pumpkin/squash. Mmmhmmm sooooo good! I could eat the squash alone if that was just a plain dish! David the owner (I believe) was very friendly and welcoming! He gave us a plate of the beautiful lotus buns when he heard it was both my aunts birthday that we were celebrating. Booked table and pre-ordered glutinous chicken for dinner yesterday. We ordered 4-5 dishes with the pre-ordered glutinous chicken. All the dishes came out and we finished eating in about an hour and still no chicken. We asked the waiter/waitress twice to check our chicken. After another half hour, glutinous chicken finally came out. It was only lukewarm. If they made it fresh while we were there, it should have been steaming hot from deep frying. They must have left it sitting there instead of cutting and serving it to us. Really short wait stuff. read more

Small little Chinese restaurant serves excellent HK cuisine! Recommend to go at least 4 or more people. Quantity of each dish is enough for one person. Any how, couple dishes need to order before hand (at the time of reservation one day ahead)! For example sticky rice chicken - crispy outside and taste sticky fried rice in side. Great!!! Also, a must have is their daily soup! Surprised this need reservation as well. One famous dish is their sweet and sour pork. Usually made with pineapple to give the sour taste.
