    A Chinese restaurant with dishes served family style. This place always hits the spot for me and I've been here a couple times, each time celebrating someone's birthday. The restaurant is tiny, so you must make a reservation in advance. Their turnaround is quick and you'll feel rushed out of the restaurant for them to flip for the next table. However, service is good and food is even better! Here's what we got: Appetizer platter 5/5 - We always get this platter as it comes with an array of flavours and textures. Comes with a fried sausage, fried tofu, wood ear mushroom and cucumber appetizer. Great for sharing and you can get a taste of everything before your mains come. Hand shredded chicken 5/5 - Who can say no to having your chicken hand shredded for you? It comes in a wasabi flavour so it packs a punch when you eat it. Served cold. Nice appetizer dish. Beef cubes with peppers 4/5 - Great wok flavouring in this dish. The beef is tender and delicious. Prawns and scallops with snow peas 4/5 - A classic Chinese dish. Nothing special but still pretty good for it's flavour. Lobster with vermicelli noodles 5/5 - Vermicelli noodles had great flavour. Lobster was even better, fried to perfection with juicy pieces of lobster. Lobster with salted egg yolk 5/5 - One of my favourite ways to eat lobster. Has a punch of flavour from the salted egg yolk and it's fried perfectly. Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside. Steamed bass 5/5 - Another dish that they do very well. They cook it to perfection so that it's still flakey and fresh! Complimentary dessert 5/5 - This changes often. The time I was there we had a sesame/ almond paste that was delicious and a great change from the regular red bean soup. Overall, a great Chinese restaurant that is cozy and delicious.

    Ming cuisine is a new gem that we just found out in the restaurant district of Richmond Hill. We tried both dine-in and takeout recently. They provided decent food yet average service as you would usually expect from Cantonese restaurants. They have signature dishes including plum duck and winter melon seafood soup which require pre-order at least one day in advance. We tried a mixture of their dim sum (BBQ pork bun, shrimp dumplings, sesame soup, almond soup) and regular menu items (pork ribs, Hainan chicken, pea tips, plum duck, deep fried pumpkin and shrimp with egg yolk). Most dishes were decent. - BBQ pork bun: perfectly flavoured. One of our favorite items here. - Shrimp dumplings: Decent size with well-flavoured stuffings, but the skin was not so good. - Sweet almond soup: Definitely a star dish. One can tell they used good amount of almonds to bring out that nice scent. - Sweet sesame soup: it was just ok. - Pea tips: It was good. They did actually pick the leaves which are easier to chew. - Deep fried pumpkin and shrimp with egg yolk: Another star dish! Pumpkins were so soft and shrimp was so flavourful. - Hainan chicken: Decent size especially when we dined in. Perfectly flavoured. - Plum duck: I like the sweet and sour flavour but there were too many bones. - Pork rib: mediocre. Nothing special. Among all dishes, the stars were the Hainan chicken, the almond soup, the BBQ pork bun and the pumpkin and shrimp dishes. The chef here seem to have very solid cooking fundamentals. We would definitely revisit this place in future to try out their other dishes.

    Food is good and service is nice. Make sure you preorder some dishes like sticky rice stuff in the kitchen or stew soup in advance. It is better to book the table. It is a good place with family. Casual and good for all ages There is parking outside. Close to 404 hwy.

    Went here for my bro's bday dinner. I live within a 10 min drive of this place but ever since inception I haven't visited because it always had a reputation for being expensive. Jumping straight to the food. Winter melon soup: Very good! The server told us they didn't add any additional water to it and all the soup came solely from the juice of the melon. Sweet n' sour pork: Good but doesn't crack top 5. No pineapples in this one. Pork was crispy. Could've been a bigger portion imo. Beef Tenderloin w/veggies: Beef was tender but does not trump the tenderloin at Starchiva (which is the king). Dish could've had more meat. They gave a lot of veggies in the plate. Salted egg yolk prawns: Good crunch, good flavour. I think I still the prawns peeled before being cooked in the salted egg yolk but that's just a personal preference I guess. Crispy chicken: Imo, the best dish of the night. Instead of worcestershire and salt, they served it with a side of lemon juice which I honestly worked better than the former. The breast was dripping moisture too. Really well-cooked chicken. A *must-order* item imo. Deep fried oysters in honey-based sauce: 2nd best dish. Perfect crispy, sauce was sooo balanced. Stir fried scallops with mushrooms and chinese broccoli: Rounding out the top 3 dishes, was this one. I'm not the biggest fan of gai lan because of it's bitter nature. For this particular dish the resto used baby gai lan which didn't have any bitter aftertaste to the stems at all. The scallops were also perfectly cooked. Steamed black bean eel: My grandma wolfed down most of this as it's one of her fave foods. I thought it was on the same level as eel that my mom could've made at home tbh. Would be down to come back in the future but most likely for special occasions because they're priced higher than Starchiva but serve similar fare (I would argue Starchiva is still the king in Richmond Hill at the moment). Oh yea, the owner struck up a convo with our family since we were one of the last ones to leave around closing time. A genuinely nice guy and one of his daughters was also helping out in the restaurant!

    First time dining here upon recommendation by friends. I was part of a party of 11. We had reservations for 7:45pm on a Saturday. We arrived on time, but had to wait for our table because the previous seating at 6pm had not finished yet. Their space is SUPER crammed, and for 11 people we could not all fit in the entryway without constantly being in the way of patrons entering/leaving, and staff trying to run between the two dining areas which are connected by the front entryway. On a warm day, we would've been fine to wait outside. But this was a particularly and unexpectedly windy and cold night. This made waiting between their double glass doors brutal. The wind comes right through and at you. The inner glass doors are loose and swing in/out uncontrollably because of the strong wind! So not only would you feel a draft, but it would push the door open. I witnessed the door hitting staff as they were pacing back and forth serving food. They also oddly installed a counter top cabinet RIGHT at the entrance way, which takes up MORE of the narrow entry way. The servers often placed new or eaten dishes here, as they were serving nearby tables. But then new customers waiting here could easily lean into the dish. It was quite bizarre...why not use collapsible tray tables to save room and be portable? That's a common tool in restaurants short on space. While we waited, no effort was made to inform us which table was ours and how long the wait would be. One of the female servers scurrying by, just waved us off, saying "the table is paying soon". We spotted one large table clearing by the entrance and naturally thought it was our table. Once the last group vacated the table, a male staff escorted us to the table and we happily followed -- eager to get out of the wind. But then the female server came and YELLED at the male server, "That's not their table! That's a reserved $1000+ table with pre-ordered meal." Which made us feel overlooked and worthless. The male staff (who oddly seems to be a manager) apologized and motioned for us to go back to waiting. And still, no one could tell us how much longer we had to wait... Eventually, we sat. Despite the flurry of servers around, we were rarely checked up on because we sat in the smaller dining room (with just two large tables). We had about 5 different people serving us, speaking a mixed combo of English, Mandarin and/or Cantonese. 3 out of the 5 were courteous and pleasant. But the other two were snappy. And overall the service was very disorganized. Ordering food was another unpleasant experience. Many in our party was here for the first time. As we poured over the menu, the server kept responding with "oh, you have to preorder that 24h in advance" to EVERY OTHER DISH we wanted to eat. Almost all their specialty dishes were not available to get as walk-in order. EVEN crispy chicken, a pretty standard dish at Chinese restaurants. Quail, sticky rice chicken, all the tasty stuff... And then at the end of the meal, the friendly male staff came asking us what we enjoyed. He looked at our table and asked why we didn't order some of their signature dishes. And we told him, "because you don't let people order them immediately". He then basically blames us for not pre-ordering, as if it's the most normal thing to do. How do you assume people know this? And what a silly way to may your first-time customers feel like they missed out on your BEST dishes, and make it feel like THEIR fault. Ugh. And this was maybe their friendliest staff. Finally, to the food: Overall was passable. Decent flavours but most dishes had small portions or mismatched ratio of ingredients, making it a pricey meal for what you get. For example, the claypot eel -- it came and the portion looked like it was partially eaten. That's how SMALL it was. It was expensive and there were 9 pieces in the pot. There were 11 of us. It's common for Chinese restaurants to ensure each person at the table has a serving. We were short 2. One of their signature dishes was available to us: the hand shredded chicken with sea cucumber and wasabi sauce. This was the first time we've ever seen BONES served with hand-shredded chicken. The wasabi sauce completely overpowered the chicken. And there was scarcely any sea cucumber...to the point where 9 out of 11 of us didn't realise it had sea cucumber in the dish. The best thing was the pea shoots. They only dish that had ample portion. But with so many other choices in the neighbourhood, I would not choose to come back.

    Very nice dining experience. They have the geoduck for night time dining, where we got a 3 lbs geoduck, served two ways: sashimi and fried. Very fresh. The fried oysters with salted egg yolks were very delicious as well. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Service was great. We got free dessert at the end. We didn't like the white milky soup dessert that was first offered to us. So they offered sago pomelo soup as second dessert at no additional cost.

    Came for the lobster rice, which was just ok. Was a bit disappointed in the limited dim sum menu. We couldn't believe they didn't have rice rolls, which is a dim sum staple. Some of the items weren't even available. The food was average. Service was great though.

    Ming Cuisine still a solid experience for lunch in the area. I have been back a handful of time both for lunch and dinner. I love how they expand the lunch menu to includes dim sum and other small plates. Love the varieties. But I always ended up order the Haninnese Chicken Rice that comes with a double boiled soup. It is always fun to try out different items every time. Service is fast and prompt.

    Celebrated another birthday here. One of the best, if not the best Chinese cuisine in the gta. As they say you get what you pay for. The owner David was also very friendly and take to all his diners. Perhaps the cuisine here is better than Hong Kong ones.

    Family style food with good portions Food: Ordered a couple of lunch specials that came with the double boiled soup, which was very flavourful and tasted like a well-done traditional chicken soup. The noodles with bbq pork were more on the salty and a hint bitter, perhaps from the char on the pork. The black bean sauce was on the strong side as well, but the rice and veggies were cooked well. The shredded chicken and sea cucumber dish were also very tender and tasted good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Service: There were quite a few small tables and a couple of large tables, and the servers were very nice and fairly attentive. No complaints or any issues on the service. Atmosphere: The place was decorated very traditionally, with a wall of vases and lots of tile, giving it an upscale ambience. Would recommend for a family gathering or for business lunches.

    A busy Cantonese restaurant serving dim sum, lunch menu and dinner seafood. We came in at 4pm, and it's half full already. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Inside seatings were very crowded though. We order 3 dishes, all excellent quality with big portions, will come back for more seafoods

    Our vaccination receipts and IDs were checked at the door. All the tables are physically distanced and there's less tables than there were previously. I've been here many times and the food is always good. This time we got the stir fried bean vermicelli lunch combo that includes a daily soup and vegetarian spring roll. We also ordered a stir fried rice flour roll with XO sauce. The food comes out fairly quickly and very hot, especially the soup. The fried fishes added a nice crunch to the vermicelli. There is a lot of vermicelli so it's more of a sharable dish than only for one person. There was a hint of spice with the rice flour rolls from the red chillies but if you don't eat those you should be fine. There also are lunch seafood combos and those are decently priced. It's only in Chinese though so bring someone who can read what's included.

Curry Beef Brisket Rice was stewed well to achieve really tender tendons. These are still two of our go-to dishes here. For a decent dinner table like that, it's not cheap but okay . Each dish was cooked very well. Delicious and had wok hai. There will be a dessert after the meal, a bowl of tofu flower for each person. That dessert is a true hidden gem. Silky smooth and moderate sweetness and perfect warmth. I wonder why no one mentioning it before, it is very good. We can come back to this restaurant just for the dessert.

The broth is fragrant, peppery, and deeply comforting without being too spicy. It's one of those soups that warms you up from the inside out -- perfect for winter. We ordered the $65 large portion (good for 3-4 people) and were surprised by how generous it was. It includes two plates of chicken, and the serving size is very substantial. They also offer a smaller $52 option for two people and individual pots for solo diners. We added extra meat and vegetables, but it honestly wasn't needed. Portions are big and great for sharing. We even had leftovers to take home. Great value for the quality and portion size. Definitely a spot I would come back to for authentic Chinese comfort food.

Pork chop udon soup - Fried pork chop, with a fried egg and udon an amazing combo. Pork chop was made well, still a little crispy on the outside, well seasoned and just about cooked perfectly. Fried egg the same, a bit runny on the inside. A small amount of udon compared to the rice noodle soup below. Soup tasted a bit off, kinda like burnt onions... Braised beef wonton rice noodle soup - Beef was a more on the chewy side. Wontons were great and there was lots of rice noodles. Soup was tasty. French toast - The afternoon tea version has 2 slices of bread vs the regular 3 slices. This was a tall stack, not too eggy and not too crispy. A load of butter on top. Nice to try. Would come back to try other items on their menu.

There are only 2 shrimp wontons, but also tasty. So much noodles. The deep fried pork chop was soo good. My partner didn't like the flavour of the soup though. Less noodles in comparison to the beef brisket. I would get this next time. Both soup dishes came with veggies which is nice (and not the frozen veggies--peas, corn, green beans). We originally ordered the hk style toast from the afternoon tea menu, but they suggested ordering off the regular menu, since we had 3 complimentary drinks and only 2 people. It's $3 cheaper and has an extra slice of bread. I didn't appreciate the extra slice, until I saw that they put pb in between each slice. While that was appreciated, the pb didn't reach the edges (about an inch in). Came with a big piece of butter on top. Nothing exciting, but if I were craving it, I wouldn't stop myself from ordering it. We came on a Friday. It was pretty empty, we could choose our seat, but it's always busy on weekends for dinner. Service is quick as expected with little customers. Restaurant looks like an old Chinese restaurant, but has the staples.
