Came here for the early dim sum special, where all small, medium, and large dishes are priced at the small size ($5.20) until 11am. A great deal if you order wisely. We started with the classics: siu mai and har gow. Both were impressively large and generously stuffed with meat. The beef rice roll was solid, the taro spring roll was perfectly crispy, and the beef balls were oversized and satisfying. We also tried the durian spring roll, which was delicious -- real durian inside, creamy and fragrant without being overpowering. I added a chicken rice claypot to take home since the price was good. The chicken was juicy and well‑cooked, but the rice lacked the signature crispy bottom. It felt like they assembled the rice and toppings and gave it a quick steam rather than cooking it traditionally. A word of caution: Only the small/medium/large dim sum items are included in the special pricing. Anything marked MP is charged at regular price and those prices jump significantly. I learned this the hard way when I ordered the dragon shrimp crispy balls (3 pieces) and was charged $11.80.It was meh, and definitely not worth that price, and I felt a bit ripped off since I assumed it would be included in the special. Food has gotten so much better since the last time I visited for dinner. Service was also a lot better, especially from the manager. Our server was very attentive, chatty and just overall a happy guy. We had a hiccup in our dish, found some black plastic in our food but the server and manager de-escalated the situation in a very quick and professional manner. Ambiance of the place is still very dated and needs a major update/ reno. The restaurant was also very hot this time when I was dining in here. Part 3 of our food court lunch was this reliable Chinese BBQ from the Grandeur Palace's BBQ window. We've dined in at the restaurant and ordered from this window many many times, but this day, the BBQ was over the top good. We originally got a 2 BBQ item on rice but ended up getting another half duck to take home for dinner. The roast pork had the quintessential crispy skin and the juicy meat, char-siu was sweet & salty and the duck was moist and flavourful. Nothing makes us pig out quite like a good Chinese BBQ and let's just say that we all went home with fully bellies after this food court lunch. read more

I used to live nearby and there have been many changes throughout the years but there's been good food in the plaza for many years. An old friend and I had a craving for Chinese BBQ so we headed to Grandeur Palace, located in Chartwell Shopping Centre. We both had a combo with BBQ Duck, Roast Pork, Rice, Vegetables, and a bottle of water for $10.99. It was a good price, considering the generous portions that we got and the quality of the food. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN - DON'T BOOK HERE; OVERCHARGED BY $600 I booked a room for a birthday party months in advance. I confirmed 2 weeks before, then 2 days before, 1 day before, day of. Solid restaurant for dim sum. Located in a busy Chinese plaza, they are ALWAYS busy. Therefore parking lot can be messy. To be expected though, so give yourself more time to arrive! Expect a wait for a table (even if you have reservations) and service. But we're all here for the food anyway. Been here twice now, both times for dim sum. Service is fast, tea is great, and food is always on point. It's not the fanciest dim sum place but a pretty reliable option. All the basic common dishes are done well here. We went for lunch on a busy weekday. We inquired with the hostess how long the wait would be. She snarkily told us that she wouldn't be able to tell us since she doesn't know what size tables will become available first and how she'll fit people in. I can't even remember everything that she kept blabbing on about. All she really had to say was that she's not sure and to tell us the next number that she'll be calling for. When we finally were seated, one of the tea cups on the table was dirty, as was a napkin. The glass bowl used to rinse your eating utensils and dishes had brown water at the bottom. This is a dimsum restaurant. But the highlight is its BBQ window at the back of the restaurant, facing the food court. This is literally top-notch! Honestly, this is one of the very best BBQ pork places in GTA as of May 2023. It is absolutely amazing. So tender. The meat quality they use is fabulous. The secret honey bbq sauce is so delicious. And the price is even better than a lot of similar places in Markham Richmond Hill. So good. I came here for a family dinner. It was quite busy, they had a section sectioned off for a wedding. The food was ok, service was a bit slow, our orders were forgotten and our food came out late, likely because they had to focus on the wedding party. As dinner got further into the night, they had forgotten to switch off the speaker that resonated throughout the restaurant and was quite loud forcing all their clients to listen to out of tune karaoke. The restaurant is decorated in Victorian style/fancy Chinese restaurant style table cloths. Well, if there is ever a place in Scarborough that I can count on for classic Cantonese favorites for dim sum and dinner, there is Grandeur Palace! Located in the heart of Scarborough, Grandeur Palace offers great deals to sample their dim sum and savory menu options! The lobster (however prepared) is always fresh and piping hot where after one bite, the entire table will clean up! The crab and fish maw stew is a nice balance of chunky pieces of crab in a nice stock with fish maw. The Sweet and Sour Pork is nice and crispy with right amount of sauce to coat it. The Lamb Stew is perfect for the winter season to warm up with the lettuce stewing in the broth and all the ingredients for an umami bite! They also have Lobster E Fu Noodles which are awesome for both dine in and take out for a great price! I can't wait for my next visit to Grandeur Palace! read more

Came here recently for dinner with family for a birthday celebration. We decided to have an early dinner at 4pm to avoid the crowd and we were one of two tables at that time. We had amazing service mainly due to one hostess who made the dinner experience so wonderful. She made sure that the sweet bday buns were steamed just before we were ready to have our desserts and she quickly clear the table before setting up the bday cake that we brought with the sweet buns and complimentary desserts. We got some really nice family pics! She helped us with serving the cake and provided us with lots of take out boxes for packing the left overs. Overall the service from all the staff was excellent like refilling our tea pots and changing our plates half way through our dinner. Keep in mind that we may have gotten better service since they weren't that busy between 4:30pm to 5:30pm. There was 10 of us and we ordered 8 dishes and the best dishes were the braised beef ribs and fried jumbo shrimps. The other dishes were good too but these were your usual Chinese dishes so not too different from other places but all the seafood dishes were really fresh! Lots of variety on the menu. The highlights of every dim sum meal here are the durian pastry and pot rice. As for the dinner options, the Peking duck, crab with noodles, fried fish in corn sauce, house special fried rice, and stir fried beef with peppers are all superb dishes! My favourites had to be the Peking duck and fried fish in corn sauce. The duck skin was super crispy. Also, they served the corn sauce separately so the fried fish wasn't soggy by the time it reached the table. We also tried the Peking duck for take-out, which I wouldn't order again for the time being as the duck skin is no longer crispy by the time we reach home. It is just one of those dishes you have to have right out of the kitchen! For this visit, we ordered a combo of lobster, fried rice with lobster roe, fried pork chops, steamed chicken, and veggies. The fried rice with lobster roe is sooo dangerously addicting. The steamed chicken was juicy and flavourful. This spot has become our family's go-to spot for dim sum/dinner. I met up with a few co-workers at this classic Scarborough fixture of a dim sum restaurant. Judging by the size of it and how full of people it was, it seems like a neighbourhood favourite. The service was quick and efficient and I hardly noticed the staff at all as we loaded up our table with food. I didn't actually do any ordering as my buddies were more familiar with the place. Bad experience with Grandeur Palace Chinese restaurant in Scarborough. 1. This place is under staff. 2. The restaurant is not clear and a lot of flys and little bugs flying around. 3. ⁠We place the order and no one follow up after 45 minutes until I ask them to check. Then they just say kitchen did not have our order. 4. ⁠When they serve the soup like dishes washing water. Then I found out it had a bug in my soup. I call the manager over and he just say the bug just fly down, it wasn't boiling with the soup. He goes to get another bowl to us and I don't want it anymore and he did not even say sorry and just dump my bowl into the big soup bowl and take it away. 5. ⁠when they serve the steam fish , it was raw inside. I ask the same manager and he told me it is the way they cook the fish. It is cooked base on his option. So I told him go ahead to eat the whole fish and I pay him to eat. Then he told me cooked or not cook is personal taste. So I told him it is fine, you go ahead finish the fish. Then he says he go to ask the kitchen to steam another fish for us. Then we wait for another 20 minutes to have a cooked fish. We spent over 2.5 hrs for this dinner. It is my personal experience to share with you people. I don't mean to ask you not to go. Grandeur Palace is one of our favorite places for "yum yum" dim sum! Small, medium and large sized dishes are $3.88, seven days a week (take-out only), from 10 am - 3 pm. We usually order in advance over the phone, as weekends can be busy. Upon arrival, just provide your name to the cashier. The orders are lined up on a table, with your name written on the receipt, stapled to the bag. Just keep an eye out for your order, or ask one of the employees. The menu has many of our favorites: Har Gow, Siu Mai, Chiu Chow Fun Guo, Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce, Beef Tripe, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Steamed Chicken Buns, Ham Sui Gok, Deep Fried Squid, Cheung Fun, Pork Spring Rolls with Taro, and my "must have" order of Deep Fried Sesame Balls with Black Bean Paste! I find all the items are consistently fresh, and made with higher quality ingredients. They also offer lobster and make your own combos, where you pick from a list of dishes such as Braised Grouper with Tofu, Sweet & Sour Pork with Blueberries, Sautéed Beef with Ginger and Scallions, Braised Beef Short Ribs, and Steamed Vancouver Crab to name a few. This is a review for takeout Then COVID struck and now Grandeur's pivoted to "all day" dim sum and from 10am - 3pm, essentially the normal brunch hours, any small, medium, or large dishes are $3.88. No trying to order before 11am, when the special pricing is normally in effect, there is now five blissful hours to get your dim sum hit. The only small hiccup is getting an order placed, which essentially means going old school and calling in. Of course, there's always the trusty delivery apps, but you'll be paying a premium - the $3.88 dishes will instead range from $5.85 to $7 before all the ancillary charges. So, get used to redialing starting at 10am and after a dozen tries, you'll hopefully get through. As with all my other dim sum experiences, takeout and delivery just isn't the same. As soon as the lid is lifted and the steam escapes, the dish starts to wilt - it's as if the protein packed dumplings are a plant. The wrapper on the steamed shrimp chive dumplings starts getting sticky and hard (although Grandeur smartly places them further apart, so they don't meld together). They're just as huge as normal, but the filling is skimpy on the chives, so they end up tasting like har gow. While still the size of a golf ball, the shrimp sui mai loses a lot of its juices so they're much harder than at the restaurant and sits in a shallow pool of liquid causing the wonton wrapper to become soggy. But when you haven't had one of these pork dumplings in a few months, it still tastes awfully good, despite the sad state. Forget about the deep fried savoury glutinous dumplings with meat. Any crispiness disappears, and it becomes a sticky chewy ball. I have no one to blame but myself - of course anything deep fried would be a disappointment. But I so wanted a bite of that five-spice laced pork with the slightly sweet chewy wrapper. At least the flavours were still on point. The steamed rice noodle with shrimp was the dish that's closest to what you'd find at the restaurant. They've always made it a bit thicker, so it held up to the travels and the consistency and texture remained consistent. Strangely, the glaze on the honey sauce beef short ribs ($7.68) sort of melts off, leaving the top pieces lacking flavours and the bottom soaking in sauce. Do yourself a favour and open the takeout container upside down so that the sweet sauce recombines with everything. It'll taste a lot better. Following traditions, I had to finish the meal with the stir-fried lobster e-fu noodles ($18.88). Grandeur doesn't skimp on takeout, really packing the noodles into the container so it's not the easiest to portion out without having lobster fly everywhere. If I were the restaurant, I'd add a bit more savoury sauce to cover everything since the noodles will get soft regardless - it would allow the noodles to stay untangled. Perhaps the lobster e-fu noodles aren't ordered with as much gusto in takeout as the crustacean didn't taste the freshest - not rancid or off, just not nearly as clean as normal. read more

Took my friends to a weekday lunch and they were still serving dim sum as well as other dishes. Our coordinator Stella was fabulous at helping us get our orders in. We ordered too much but they helped us pack it all so we were able to appreciate it further. Food: Lobster - the menu says 3 pounds but the 2 lobsters seemed super small - I'd say less than 2 pounds at best. Otherwise, the lobsters were cooked well and pretty tasty. Just very small and didn't seem like 3 lbs at al. Peking duck - The duck was good though not super crispy like a legit Peking duck. Seemed more like just a regular roast duck. The wrappers were not too thick nor too thin. Comes with the sweet sauce and julienned veges. The rest of the duck is cut up in a box. Pretty typical roast duck, nothing super special. The fish and vegetables were okay. Fish was well cooked and hard decent flavor. Veges were a bit over cooked but not bad. The dried oysters with mushrooms was very tasty. Lettuce wasn't over cooked and the "fat Choi" was great. Price: 138$ for 5 dishes and rice. Would have been really good if the lobster was truly 3 lbs as advertised but overall decent. read more

I usually leave 2-3 stars if the food is decent even if the service is not up to par but the service today was completely unacceptable for a restaurant no matter how decent their food is. For the record, it is Christmas day but the majority of the experiences I went through during my meal cannot be justified with "it's busier than usual, please understand". One of the servers left a tray of tableware and dishware on my table with a quick explanation of "your food isn't here yet, I'm just going to leave this here for a moment" and left. I would have been fine with a "a moment" but 15 minutes passed, my food came, and there wasn't any room for the food until I called a different server over to remove the tray. The server who helped clear the table, also mumbled under their breath that we were being troublesome. That same server also wiped her hands on our table cloth every time she walked by which is neither sanitary or acceptable behaviour for an establishment serving food. I would also like to add that the table placement in the restaurant is terrible because tables are too close to one another but servers still try to squeeze into those small spaces to get from aisle to aisle, while holding food for restaurants. This is risking spillage of food and hurting both the employees and the customers. A third server pushed my mom's chair in while she was eating. My mom's chest ended up hitting the table hard because the server pushed too far in and my mom also choked on her food because she wasn't aware or given notice that her chair was going to be pushed. The server didn't apologize and nearly did it a second time but my mom got up in time to avoid the same awful treatment. There were a few other issues but those I would attribute to it being busy but overall, I still absolutely loathed my entire experience at this restaurant. read more

I had called to inquire about the sets and was told I had to come in to pay a deposit. They asked what time I would like my pick up. I asked them if 5pm was full and he said no so I went with it. Come the day of pick up - I got there for 4:45. I stood in the payment line to be given a number for food pick up. Little did I know that they were just giving out 3:30 at that time. I ended up waiting until 6:15 to get my food and this was with asking them a few times why they were calling numbers all over the place. When we got home with the food, we found that the duck feet were lacking in flavour and colour. The chicken and duck were a mere "pass". The veggies were over cooked. The fried rice and lobster was ok. I mean generally you'd expect the rush to be crazy but I definitely have seen better organization and the fact that they didn't limit their capacity was not a good sign for quality either. Make sure to get here early (a.k.a. relatively close to opening hours) in order to find a seat without a line up. Dimsum dishes are just average. Nothing that is outstanding. First things first, I highly recommend coming with a Chinese person or someone who can communicate with the staff. I find places like this provide the best service to regulars or those who can speak the language (Cantonese & Mandarin). I enjoyed the large portions of dim sum, as you get what you pay for and if not a little bit more. The price is in the middle, not too expensive but not extremely cheap like Perfect (if you're from Scarborough). The overall quality of food was delicious at a great value and ended up coming here twice within a week. Actually my fave place for dimsum. It's got great quality dimsum without the lineup and hype of skyview fusion and dragon boat fusion. It's located in a strip mall in Scarborough with ample parking. This is some next level stuff here ... the meat platter (slices of duck, char siu, and something akin to a sausage?) was excellently prepared, nicely seasoned on the outside. The cuttlefish with broccoli was so tender - incredible. The fried rice was nicely rich and filling, not too chewy and too brittle. The double fishes was really nicely steamed, tasted really fresh. The roasted chicken was also rather flavorful and juicy. The garlic lobster was also fresh, not chewy. The abalone with large mushroom caps (shiitake) were really special; all the abalone pieces and the mushrooms were selected for consistency, and at the center of the plate was a nice mound of pea pod stem leaves. The seafood soup had a nice consistency and certainly tasted really seafood-like. The stuffed shrimp surrounding on crab claw stems were really nice, and quite large as well. Good flavor abounded. After months of lockdown, and not seeing the full indoor dining room insight, ordering dimsum to go is the way to go for now. I was referred by a YouTuber to this place. The dimsum selection is limited, but most of the basics were there. All their dimsum was a fixed price of $3.88 except for the specialties. I decided to opt for the combo dim sum menu B ($33.88) which includes all my favorites. Menu attached in review. My favourite was the har gow (shrimp dumpling). The wrapper was well made and the shrimp was huge and crispy. My least favourite were the desserts, brown sugar steam cakes. Not to my liking, would have preferred egg tarts instead. Also, ordered bitter melon/preserved vegetable stir fried noodle with fish $9.99. It was very delicious. A great combination! I would definitely come back again based on quality, freshness and price. Came for cheap dim sum ($5.20 for S/M/L dishes). The decor is pleasant and everything is well maintained. Clean washroom. Service was reasonable, not rushed, not rude. They have a small menu with little variety. We ordered har gow, sui mai, beef balls, beef cheung fun, shrimp cheung fun, and a pan fried (but boiled tasting) chicken/bitter melon rice noodle dish. Best out of what we ordered was the sui mai which was plump fresh tasting pork with shrimp. Everything else was starchy and bland. When we left, we noticed at the door that they had a special on stir fried lobster on e-noodles which was not flagged on their menu. Maybe we would have enjoyed that. Upon reading these yelp reviews, I realize we should have tried their BBQ since that is probably what they excelled at. Too bad they did not highlight their speciality on their menu. Came by for dim sum on a Sunday. New renovated Chinese restaurant in Asian plaza. Previously known as Dragon Dynasty. We had the usual favourite steam bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, baked pineapple bbq pork buns, pork egg congee, spring roll rice roll, beef ball etc. Food was as expected. Service a bit slow. I liked the steam bbq and pineapple pork buns. There's real pineapple inside. Siu Mai big but tasted average. There seems to be good specials here for dinner. Dinner looks promising.
